Enya had been sitting by the fire - still eating marshmellows - she had so far ignored the chocolate and runes in front of her. Let Louisa do it she had thought turning away from it but one look at the younger girl whom she had to share a tent with told her she had no choice but to work. Sigh. Great. Standing up she put the last of her marshmellow into her mouth and grabbed the basket and runes list in front of her and made her way over to her tent. She knew she was going to be really bored during this task. Sticking the basket in front of her tent she sat back down and studyed the list she held.



Enya sighed after she had finished placing her runes in various different places. It had taken her a full ten minutes to pick the right runes, then another few minutes to place them. She had even painted some on her tent. But not she was bored, and she wanted to sleep.

Isla studied her list of runes and thought about how she was going to put them on to her tent. She got to work once she had decided everything. After about 15 minutes Isla took a step backand looked at her tent. I wasnt too bad, but it wasn't the best. She plopped down onto her cusion, happy that she had finished.

Anna got a piece of chocolate from the basket. She didn't look figuring the runes would choose better then she would. Her rune was Ingwaz. It was a simple rune.not much to it but she did know it was related to love and relationships. She thought about someone. That was odd. She looked at her tent. Where to put it where to put it...she couldn't thing of a place. She started rubbing her wrist. She looked down at her hand and got an idea. She got out her paint and painted it on her ankle. There. That was easy. She looked at it and smiled. She liked this lesson and was glad she had brought a book with her on runes.

Rowan noticed a girl about her age painting a rune on her ankle and just HAD to go say hello. "Hi. I'm Rowan," she said to the girl. "I just had to come over and tell you that I think painting the rune on yourself was a wonderful idea. I never would have thought of that myself." She smiled at the girl, blushing a little. It wasn't like her to just walk up to someone and introduce herself like this.

Anna heard a voice and looked up to see a girl her age. She smiled up at her. She had said her name was Rowan. Odd name but good to be sure. Very good. "'Ello!" She sad missing the H in words as she sometimes did. "Thanks. I couldn't see why my tent would need love." she smiled. "I'm Anna by the way. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Anna," Rowan replied. "Are you a first year too? Which house are you in? I'm in Ravenclaw." Rowan realized she was starting to ramble. Why do I always have to get so nervous around new people, she wondered to herself.

"I am a gryfindor firstie." She said to the girl who was starting to ramble. It was a good thing though. Anna rambled too. A lot. "What rune did you pick?"

"I chose Algiz because it represents opportunities, success, rapid advancement, protection and sanctuary. Since I'm new here I thought that I could use all of these. I need all the help I can get," she smiled. "So why did you choose the one that you did?" she asked. Geez, was that too nosey?

Di eyed the pesky child.

"I see. That is... quite alright."

Di turned round, courtesy another question. "By a 'personalized' rune, I mean a rune that the rune-caster herself or himself has created," she said, cheerfully. "The rune-sets here -" The ones she had set down, in front of the students - "Come right out of a shop. The rune-sets I use for actual readings, however, do not."

And... "Glitters sound fun!"

"Thats a good one." She said. "Um, I stuck my hand in and figured that whichever rune I picked up it would be better choosing then what I would have picked. Weird really because its relevant." it was true she didn't have a method of picking one up but hers was relevant and she hoped useful. "How you liking Hogwarts so far?"

Mmm. Finn took a step back, looking at his tent. Now he needed another rune. He glanced at the one side of the tent, before moving back to the other side, that needed some runes on too, so that it looked a little even, and Finn was a little picky like that. The fifth year looked at the sheet again, trying to decide which rune to use. He didn't really know, but he should've come up with a good idea, because it would be pretty bad if he just used some random one. He looked down the list, before picking one out. Berkanan. He would use that one, because it was about beauty, and he was pretty beautiful. He was pretty sure that it would attract beautiful girls too, so he would use that.

He knelt down, with a bit of a frown because he really didn't want to get his trousers dirty, and began to paint the rune onto the side of his tent. When he had finished, he kinda poked at it. That looked okay right?

"Well," Rowan said. "I still haven't decided. I have lived with muggles since I was 5. Until I received my letter from Hogwarts I knew very little of magic. I'm finding it all to be a bit overwhelming. How about you? Are you enjoying it?" she asked the little Griffindor.

Cass still didn't understand...Oh, It seems Runes was going to be her weakest subject. "Professor, does that mean we have to create a whole different rune or use standard ones as basis?"

"What is your Rune?" Rex asked Rowan. "Can you help me make my tent look nicer tan just this paited rune on it?" Rex asked Rowan.

" "Daisy, I could use some help over here" Rex told her. "See, The Rune I picked is good, but I need more painting for my tent" Rex smled.
" Anna, ,I thought you might be able to help a freind' Rex told her. ' my tent looks plain" Rex said to Anna. "All i have is the Rune on my tent and nothing else at all" Rex explained to Anna.

My Rune is TeiWaz" but my tent is in a ruin" Rex explained to the girls.

"Oh yeah, Its awesome here. I have kind of the same story. Mum was muggle dad was a wizard. Didn't know he was alive until the letter came and he showed up! Quite a shocker. Where did you live before hr if you dont mind my asking?" Anna said to the girl. She put her jacket on. It was getting chilly outside.


"Howdy stranger!" She had said. Rex seemed to be everywhere. "well, We shall see to it that your tent isn't plain at all! Have you tried coloring it? Or painting things other than runes on it?" She suggested.

" Howdy" Rex told Anna in his best fake Minnie Pearl accent. "Well, I am really bad at painting or coloring " Rex said to Anna. " I am just not good at crafts" Rex explained to Anna.

Witsy looked through the list now that it had come to her. She looked over to Brittany and Em who already had these great ideas and didn't waste time acting. She had this idea that she wanted to see if they'd like. Witsy put the list down and jogged over to the two girls. "I have one. Tell me what you think: we should use the rune Wunjo. It represents joy happiness and good results. I know it sounds weird but if we focus merely on just the skills aspect that could let our sanity guard down. So, if we put in the joy and happiness there is also ends in good results. Even in the worst of times if we were here by ourselves at least we know there's a hope, you know? I could draw the rune inside a game, lets say, one of Zonko's joke toys to remind us of that... any thought?" Witsy was really liking this idea and was eager to see what the others thought.

"Well." Anna said "what sturf do you like? Thats the first place to start!"

“Hudson” the boy smiled, aiding the professor in calling his name.

Listening to the next set of instructions, Patroclus wished he had someone staying in his tent with him, but he didn’t so he would have to deal with it.
Taking the parchment full of runes, the boy skimmed to find the ones that pest suited him. He was planning on picking three……three just felt right.

The first one was easy to select, it was going to be ‘Man’, for the simple fact that a tent needed strength! Picking up a wooden tile, Patroclus painted on the Rune, and then attached the rune tile with string to the opening of his tent. Hanging, it was able to move in the breeze, exhibiting the strength in a tent’s flexibility.

Scanning once again, Patroclus spotted his next rune; 'Berkanan'. He choose it simplely because his tent was beautiful….and so was he! Well at least that’s what his mother had told him. This one he decided to paint onto the two halves of the tent flaps. For the paint, he decided to use a rich brown, so that it went with the red of his tent, and also ‘cause he wanted.

The next rune was harder to decide upon, there were a few options he liked. But in the end, it had to be Wunjo. This rune he drew in the soil, at all four corners of the tent, that way there was no way his tent would be an unhappy place.

Marveling at his work, Patroclus thought the tent felt more magical already

" I do not know what stuff I like" Rex laughed. " Should we paint it, glitter it, or color it?" Rex asked Anna.

Josey knew she had a paintbrush back in her dorm with her stuff. She acciod it to her and went inside her tent. She went to the right wall and began to paint. She made the rune HUGE so it covered the entire wall. When she was done she stepped back to veiw her artwork. It was the Jera rune. Because it represented a good year, she wanted to have a good year this year. It was perfect. Josey moved to the wall opposite the right, left, and began to paint.

Oh. "Let me explain more clearly," Di said. "Runes are made from different materials. The same rune can be created from glass, from wood, from stone etc." She held up a rune. "This rune has been made from stone. It is one of the Elder Futhark runes but I didn't carve it out, and it might or might not work completely accurately for me. On the other hand, this rune -" She held up one of the runes in her runes pouch - "Is one that I made myself - I collected materials and then used them carve out one of the standard runes. Does that make things clearer?"

If not, Di could always elaborate. Runes, she enjoyed discussing.

"Why chose?" she asked Rex. There was a simple solution. She held up glitter-paint and a spell book with random spells especially on colors. "Pick one." She smiled. She liked being a witch. It made things fun and exciting.

Heather, who was listening intently on what the professor explained to Cass was even more confused-perhaps more confused than her best friend was right now. Yes, elaborating it would be nice. Being quiet won't help her around at all and oh, she was slow at learning so much!. "p-professor..." she stuttered, nervous and embarrassed to ask for help. "i-i...i s-still d-don't..g-get it..." she sighed, hoping the professor wasn't offended or anything.

" Of course, I will pick red and yellow" Rex told Anna. "Is this ok, those two colors?" Rex asked Anna. " If not, the red would be my color" Rex smiled. " yhanks for helping me decorate" Rex gave Anna a friend type hug.
