The edge of the lake looks... different. There are things heaped here. Davina, wand tucked behind her ear, turns round the moment she has arrived, to see if the class is following.
"Sit down, sit down," she says. "Your cushions are charmed so that they won't get dirty, though I don't expect you're going to need them for long. Take off your shoes, if you want to. I hope no one - girl or boy - is wearing heels? That can make things difficult."
Heather, who was listening intently on what the professor explained to Cass was even more confused-perhaps more confused than her best friend was right now. Yes, elaborating it would be nice. Being quiet won't help her around at all and oh, she was slow at learning so much!. "p-professor..." she stuttered, nervous and embarrassed to ask for help. "i-i...i s-still d-don't..g-get it..." she sighed, hoping the professor wasn't offended or anything.
Aww. Di smiled. "Perplexity is only the beginning of knowledge!" She quoted. "Let's give this another shot, then. Consider the Elder Futhark runes. To make use of the Elder Futhark, a person must have a rune-set that contains the Elder Futhark runes. That means there are thousands of rune-sets containing the Elder Futhark runes, in the world! Is that much clear?"
If yes, Di could continue. If not... no problem even then, of course.

"t-they're de-delicious. a-and t-thank you...for a-answering my question..." her cheeks blushed pink.

Changing her mind, like always, Daisy decided to just paint it on top of her tent. She pulled out her paint brush and can and sighed. "Probelm one: I'm short," she whispered to herself. Yeah the outside of ehr tent wasn't really good but it was taller than her.
" I will help you if you ned a boost' Rex told Daisy. " of course, you will have to help Anna and me color glitter my tent" Rex said to Daisy.
Ahhh...yes, of course! now she gets it, maybe a bit, but a smile appeared on heather's face. "If someone needs a rune-set, they can either purchase it from a shop that specializes in runes or sells rune-sets, or they make one themselves using different materials," Di continued. "So if I took some stones, painted the Elder Futhark runes on them and made a simple rune-set for myself, that would be a personal rune-set. Does that make sense?"
She stopped speaking, only to receive a surprise. Fudge brownies? Unexpected. "Why, thank you, Miss..." She didn't know the girl's name. Of course. But Di accepted a brownie and took a small bite. "It is delicious," she agreed.
"I like answering genuine questions." Such a polite child. Di smiled. "You can always come to my office if you have a runes-related problem, after class." Or a non runes-related one. For support. Help. Di did not say that out loud, though.

Daisy laughed, "How would you give me a boost?" She looked at there tent and nodded. "Fine if you give me a boost I'll help paint and glitter your tent." Still not sure how he'd give her a boost she agreed. If she was going to be lifted by magic though she'd panic. Her dad tried to levitate her on to his shoulders and she got hurt. He accidently dropped his wand...which dropped her.

My, the brownie was delicious. Di had treated herself only to two marshmallows so far and she realized that that might be the reason she felt a little hungry, now.
Shrugging the thought of marshmallows off, she focused her attention back on the student. Heather. "No need to thank me, Miss Olsen," Di said, pleasantly. "I'm here to teach and help out."
... and how were the rest of the students getting on? Di looked round to make sure that things were running smoothly. Seemed like they were.

Finishing up the last bit, Daisy jumped out of his hands and landed on her feet. "Thanks Rex," she said giving him a quick sisterly hug. "I don't know what I would've done with out you." She walked over to his and Anna's tent and began to paint.

Brant gathered some stones up. He sat down on the ground and looked at the professor. "Professor, Can I carve my stones with magic?" he asked for some professors don't like you to use magic for some things. He did not want to get out of trouble.

"Nice to see you again too!" She said. Was this normal in this world. If so it kinda rocked.

She then grabbed some parchment, and copied down the Rune names and meanings of the ones she'd used.

The Elder Futhark Runes I have used on the entrance of my tent.

Now.... Where else can she paint runes? Standing up, Iris wandered around her tent, thinking.
Iris grinned a bit as she had an idea. Picking up the paint brush, Iris dabbed it in the black paint and then sat down next to the little campfire that she'd made, even though it hadn't been used. On every other stone around her little campfire, she painted a Kaunan. Then on the stones, she painted a Dagaz.
She chose to paint these, because they proth have light properties.
Then she went into her tent and glanced around at it. Opening her rune bag, she looked for some that would make the inside of the tent a nicer place. Iris chose to use Ingwaz, Othalanb and Pertho. Picking up some silver ribbon, she attached the three runes to the ribbon and then attached it to the ceiling of her tent. Because she'd made herself a Teepee styled tent, the three runes hung down from the very top of the tent, and right in the middle of the tent as well.
Iris made some more notes in her parchment.

Iris climbed out from her tent, and stood with her hands on her hips; proud of her work. She sat down on the floor, quite happy with her finished tent.
Maybe she should try and get the professors attention, to see what she thought of Iris's tent and campfire.

Taking the actual laguz rune, Simon placed it near the corner of his tent and piled another blanket on top to serve as a pillow later on. With at least a makeshift bed set up ready if they were indeed to sleep outside, the Gryffindor boy returned to his basket. Spotting the chocolate amongst the runes, he took a piece and popped it in his mouth, savoring it as he debated on any other rune placements.
His notes and the sheet of paper the professor had handed out in front of him, he finally opted on the mannaz or man rune. Grabbing his earlier painting supplies, Simon added it to both flaps of the tent that marked the door way. At least it would serve as a reminder of self and who the tent belonged to.
He was rather satisfied with the runes he had chosen and placed about his camp, but there was one tingling in the back of his mind that he couldn't help but debate. Turning a smooth, black stone around slowly in his hand, he frowned at the Thurisaz symbol on the Rune guide that the Professor had handed out.
A few more moments of unresolved deliberation had his head up and searching for the Professor. When he finally spotted her, he made his way over to her, "Professor Di. There are some Runes that bear more of a negative energy or will, like the Thurisaz and most of the meanings of the Hagalaz rune. If they are placed beside, say after, a more positive rune like Eihwaz, would the postive energy simply cancel out the negative energy and make both Runes neutral. Or, would it turn the negative meaning, like 'dark forces', into a positive meaning and intention...say combine Eihwaz and Thurisaz to make 'protection from dark forces?' " There was some old saying about the best intentions leading to the greatest harm that seemed to be nagging at him.

Josey painted the Fehu rune on the left wall, because it represented abundance, and she always had an abundance of truffles. And truffles were good! She thought it wouild be good luck for her truffles. Speaking of truffles, she ate one before moving to the front wall and began painting again.
Rowan laughed when she saw the group that had gathered around Rex's tent. Having finished her own, she decided to go over and see what they were up to. "Hey guys, need some more help? Anna, I see you've met my friend Rex," she said, fighting hard to suppress the urge to tickle him so he wouldn't drop the girl he was holding up.
"Oh hey!" she said "Yeah we met. How are you?" she asked
