A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

Arabella-Marie looked up at the older Hufflepuff who was also prefect and said "No i am lost i am looking for the books on Ancient Runes i want to learn more about the subject"

Even though he should have been more interested in searching for books to help him in finishing off his stack of homework, Tyler couldn't help but take a little leisure time to himself. Thus, he was searching for books on Quidditch, or even better, on Muggle sports.
He trailed one hand lightly along the spines of books as he walked along one of the bookshelves. As he turned the corner of one of the shelves, he nearly walked straight into someone.
"Sorry about that." He muttered, glancing up and then down. "Oh, really sorry about that." He apologized again, for he had nearly run over what appeared to be a first or second year girl. Whoops.

The girl twisted her body and p o u n c e d upon her copy of The Monster Book of Monsters before it got away. The book, though bound with a leather strap, was doing a good job of overpowering her and it's constraint, even managing to bite her fingers between it's thick pages.
"Ouch! Hey! M'mmm..." She started off perturbed, but quickly changed her attitude when she realized that the boy certainly looked older and maybe he could help. "How do you calm these things down??".
In the midst of this struggle, the girls hair had fallen into her face and given her a 'talking mop' sort of look. | |

Sammy walked into the library ... hopefully she didn't smell, of stink bomb. But she had made sure she didn't smell before, so it's all good. Jack flicked through the pages of a book infront of the bookshelf, probably preparing to put it back shortly afterwards. He didn't really come by the library, probably because it was full of books. Obviously. Of course, Jack wasn't like, afraid of reading; it made you look wicked smary and sexy at the same time, if those words could ever be put together in the same sentence at any time.
Meh, he was Jack Riding; he could pull it off.

But today, she figured that looking for books that related to her studying would be better. Because she really needed to boost those grades up, but also focus on school rather than her social life. Walking along the book shelves, her fingertips skimmed through each book as she passed. She almost bumped into someone who was clearly doing the same. Searching for a book. But eh, Ella didn't care too much for those people. They were usually dorky dweebs.
Hmm, who was this guy wearing the trendy glasses? "Jack?" She said aloud. Yes, it was Jackerrrrrrrs! D'aww, he was a cutey! But, oh. He obviously wouldn't recognize her. The hair!
"It's me, Ella. Cuute glasses." She beamed at him. He better remember her. Perhaps if she had greeted him with a prank, THEN he would remember.
