A great number of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves fill the library, creating rows and aisles of books available for students to read and check out. When returning books to the higher shelves, just hold up the tome and the shelves will take care of the rest; there's a spell on the shelves which summons the returned book to the correct place. Of course, when retrieving a book, they don't 'know' what you're looking for, so those who aren't yet accomplished in the use of the Summoning Charm may use one of the sliding ladders that move around from bookcase to bookcase.
In front of each set of shelves is a small desk. Students can sit at these desks to complete homework or copy down notes and book references. Be aware that other students may need to access books above you… so mind your head.
You can find any book here that's appropriate for all school years, so browse to your heart's content.

"Rhea Bellaire." He smiled. "She's lovely. Obviously, that's why she's more than a friend." Jack had a feeling that she probably knew her, he wasn't sure whether Rhea was popular or not, though he knew she wasn't a hit with Callie and Rhea disliked Cosette. But didn't all females hate Cosette? It seemed to be quite fashionable to dislike her if you were a girl. Strange. Okay, so Jack had tried his best with making her feel better, it wasn't like he had any skill with relationships, so consoling people when they were having relationship problems was just as hard. But then ...
"Ohhh." Jack made an 'o' with his mouth and stiffened. He was thinking about running away actually, because he'd never heard someone say that before, and it was like Ella had really opened up to him. Hmmm. "I... I see." Jack ruffled his hair, thinking of what to say next. "I'm sorry. I'm not very good at this." Whoooa, Jack. Sorry for being a GIRL.
" Well.. I don't understand people who are afraid of the word 'girlfriend'." Let's be honest, a fear of spiders was a little bit more understandable. " Or to wear their glasses in public...." She eyed him seriously, then smirked.
Heeeh. " That's true! Wow, smart AND smexy..." She laughed. Jack had such a huge ego and it was pretty funny.
Hmmm.. Ella had definitely heard that name before. OH... oh... " Oh, cool. I think she's good mates with my boy-ex-boyfriend." BLEUGH. That came out as a total mess. He wasn't her boyfriend anymore, GET USED TO IT. But, anyway, it was actually good news to her that she was with Jack now, 'cause Ella definitely had her concerns about whether she was trying to snatch Aiden away. Everyone seemed to try and snatch Aiden away. <__<
" But, yeah. Cool. I'm happy for you." She commented with a friendly smile.

Mmkay, this had made Jack uncomfortable, obviously. Ella should have seen this reaction coming because he was a boy. And boys were STUPID when it came to lovey-dovey stuff. She pushed the awkwardness away by chuckling slightly. " Don't be sorry. You're not a girl so I don't expect you to understand." Why was she talking to Jack about this? He wouldn't careeeeeeee!

Ella's fear of spiders was pefectly normal compared to his fear of commitment and relationships. So, it was really silly of him to let himself be in one when he was so afraid, but pleasing Rhea and seeing her smile was one of the best things he liked to do. Because Rhea deserved to smile, even if Jack didn't deserve to see it. "Hey, I'm just worried if people get the wrong impression of me. When I'm quite obviously handsome and all around perfect, glasses symbolize imperfection of the eyes, and I can't have imperfections." Even if everyone did, and Jack most certainly did, hence the vanity, commitment issues, and glasses issue.
"But, as you love them so much, and I get compliments out of you. They're staying on for the rest of his conversation." He smiled, because Jack felt he sounded more intelligent when wearing them, and that was definitely not an imperfection. Hehehe.
"Your .. boy ex-boyfriend?" Jack didn't feel there was any need for them double 'boy', but he put it down to her nerves about talking about him, or whatever it was that meant talking about him. He didn't exactly know who he was, or if he had ever met him before. It seemed Ella was on and off with this bloke, and even if Jack couldn't begin to understand, he still felt very sorry for her. But that was why he stayed out of relationships, this may happen to him, and she wasn't sure if he could cope as well as she could. "Thankyou." He smiled when she said she was happy for him, it was a much better response than Callie's. "But, just because I'm not a girl doesn't mean I can't understand." Jack leaned on the bookshelf, his glasses still on. "Look, I know I'm no relationship expert..." even if his glasses made him look like a guru in the subject. "...but, s'not like I don't care." Course he cared, Ella was his friend, and he wasn't going to let her wallow in the pit of requited love. | |

The book immediately ceased its movement and Tyler looked up from his perch on the floor. "What are you doing with that book?" He asked incredulously as he reached over to help her off the floor. Surely, first or second years weren't required to have this book? Without hesitation, Haughtine moved her arm just exactly as the older boy instructed, reasoning that he knew exactly what he was doing. She wasn't let down and soon the book was calm again in the condition in which she found it.
Haughtine took hold of the boys hand and let him be a gentleman and help her to her feet. She felt better already.
Immediately, she set down her books and began to straighten her appearance, flipping her large bangs last to reveal her eyes again. "I wanted to look at it. I found it - there - amongst the animal books. I like monsters." She said rather randomly at the end of her explanation. "I see where it takes it 's title from. Quite unruly! It should really come with a clearly visible warning somewhere." She looked at the book again just to make sure. Yep. still calm.
She turned her attention back to the heroic boy and smiled. "I'm Haughtine Vorwhittle. What's your name?" She said, introducing herself to him.

Tyler tilted his head to one side as the girl babbled on about liking monsters and wanting to look at the book. That would probably be the best idea if there were some kind of warning, but who could get close enough to the book to stick the warning on the book without being bitten several times? "I...agree." He said slowly, warily eyeing the book. "It's...definitely something else."
He glanced back towards the girl, and hesitantly returned the smile. "Nice to meet you Haughtine, I"m Tyler St. James." His hands were jammed in the pockets of his robes, one hand moving every few seconds as he played with the round object hidden in its depths. He was starting to feel calm again, despite the close call with the book.

Books, yes, they had always been a good way to soothe nerves. Doctors should use them really to keep people from hyperventilating. Just place them inside a library. He leaned against the nearest bookshelf after making sure none of the students were around and inhaled the books' scent deeply. Yes, they really worked wonders on his slightly distraught mind.
Or it usually did. Today was different. The scent did soothe his nerve, however, wasn't much help with clearing his mind. It was just...he had absolutely no idea how to feel about this. On the one hand, she was healthy and safe. He should be happy about that, about how everything had gone well. On the other hand, though, he was never going to see her or most of all let her know who he was.
With his forehead against the bookshelf and the letter still in his hands he just wished to be somewhere else. Somewhere far away. Far away from all of this. >________< | |

Kimber watched Jeremy in silence, unsure of what to say or do. For a moment there, the Muggle Studies professor looked as though he would faint. Suddenly their conversation by the Lake made sense. This letter... She knew what it meant.
Guilt panged her as she watched him walk away and although she sensed he wanted to be alone, she found herself following after him. "Jeremy?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she stepped up behind him. "Are you okay?" she asked, chewing her bottom lip.
