Alex had something to say for this..
"you have to first sheild yourself and the person on the point of wand of the robber so that the robber can not harm him/her.." She said in an undertone........

"Haha, knock over a thing of candy, like gobstoppers or something, so the guy steps in them and falls over. OR, you know, shrink or grow his sleeve so he gets all tangled up if you want to play hero." Did James want to? Naaaah. He was awesome enough without, you know, doing stuff.

"Or if you're really desperate for candy, pay the robber, and leave with your stash. I mean, if he's going to get the money anyway..." Right?

Yeah.

"Duck." Jim suggested simply, rocking his chair on its back two legs and balancing it there. He grinned.

Listenning to all of these dramatic suggestions Louisa rounded her eyes. Those students watched too much TV... if they knew what that was. Meh. She wasn't convinced that she'd be in a similar situation because she was perfectly careful of where to go or who to deal with. Smugging look.

"I'd run away from the source of the danger immediately or take something solid for a shield." It's as simple as it is. She didn't need the heroic acts. She wanted her bright mind to stay in its place.

Boy this was now confusing. Was he asking for ideas of being in trouble or ideas for Neptune's issue. Daisy raised her hand and said, "Well if you're friend got punched in the face, and this is a very in the box type of idea, I would suggest not going after them for revenge because well, things would get messy really quick." Like detention messy. "And if you want an out of the box idea, well use reverse psychology. Instead of wanting to hurt that person befriend them and mess with their head for a bit."

Tazenhani 10-09-2010 05:45 PM

Did...Neptune really just say that? A heavy sigh escaped Sabel as he pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his chin on them. This was a debate he wasn't going to get involved in. He had already had his run-in with a fist and handled it in a way he wasn't sure many of the students, let alone Tate, would be impressed with. Not that he cared what their opinion would be on the situation, he simply knew now was a good time to practice the 'keeping your mouth shut' option.

Merlin, Rubiey was uber confuzzled. What in the name of Dumbledore were these people going on about?! She scribbled down ideas that her classmates were putting forward, but she had no ideas of her own.

Next question please?!

"Actually I'd like to know the spell for that too." he seconded. "That spell would come real handy when you're attacked and you got no back up. That will be like two of my fists, plus another pair of whoever it was that I wanted to smack down."

"Hmm, so my arms are filled with stuff I wanna buy, then I walk in on a robbery." the lad said, pondering the situation "Well, I still got my legs dont I? The direct approach is to kick him from behind-- kick him behind the knees, it will not only distract him but cause him to lose his balance. If hitting him directly isnt an option, I'd knock down the store shelves in his direction-- which is probably a better given that if he spins around and hexes me the shelves should offer some kind of protection. Then I'd cast Levicorpus and keep him helpless until the authorities arrive."

"But... if no one else has a scenario, I'm willing to let someone else offer a solution to this one."

"Ah, a second suggestion." Tate gave Neptune Bott a friendly look... until it turned sort of frazzled around the edges. That would show HIM to ask for suggestions.

"I have a suggestion Professor." Salander replied, raising his hand.

"You're in an expedition to the Arctics, in a site thats days from the nearest Wizarding or Muggle settlement. You encounter a desperately starving Polar bear whose usual meal of fishes and seals are on the decline and werent a lot to hunt that season. So the bear has wandered into your camp and has taken to ravaging your food supplies."

"Couple of things you may want to know about this scenario-- One: that the Polar bear is an endangered specie. And two: the reason why you're on the expedition to the Arctics? Its to figure out why wizarding kind cant apparate or portkey in or out of the area."

"I'm sure there IS a spell like that," Tate nodded slowly. Bloodlust girl again. Scary scary child. "But I'm not sure I'm ready to share that with you today. Plenty of other scary spells at your disposal."

Yeah.

"Perhaps there are SOME situations in which keeping your head down and not putting yourself into a situation needlessly are the best options. You are not Muggle superheroes, nor are you Hit Wizards or Aurors. I don't expect any of you to jump into a fight that is not your own. This class is about defending yourself, and sometimes about defending your peers if possible." So sure, Wilkes... take the candy and run.

"As with any spell, you should avoid it in the same ways as you would a spell that you do know. Dodge or duck, as Mr. Wilkes suggests, or try to use a barrier. You'll notice that the thicker the barrier, the better it blocks spells."

Now. Time for the fun. "I think we're done with this task for the time being, although I appreciate the paranoia with which many of you face the world. At this time, we're going to move on to the practical portion of the class. Please gather your belongings and follow me to the Great Hall."

Lexi pouted at the Tatertot. She REALLY wanted to know that spell. It was just not fair that he wouldn't share with her. She would only use it in extreme cases that called for physical violence... like when her brother bothered her too much. Heh. Okay... in retrospect maybe she didn't need to know a spell like that.

Gathering her things she filed in on Tate's 6 and began the trek to the Great Hall. He was always letting them do something fun. YAY for Headmaster Tatertot!

Yes, the questioning part of class was over and now they were going to move on to the FUN stuff. Marie gathered her things and followed Tate to the Great Hall. She could only imagine the fun he had waiting for them there.

Roselyn 10-09-2010 09:02 PM

Hmm wha?

Evelyn may have spaced out just the tiniest bit since she last spoke up, but she was going to blame it on someone snoring the night before. Gave her no sleep whatsoever. Oh, she resisted, SO resisted doing something about it. No worries there for whoever it was.

Practical portion? Hmm if it is anything like the maze, she was up for it. Sorta. Gathering her stuff, the Slytherin stood up and followed the Headmaster to...the Great Hall. Why there? Pfffffft, she didn't know.

Not a mind reader!

alohomora♥ 10-09-2010 10:57 PM

''This is going to be fun! Great hall! Yay!''she tought. She took her stuff and her heavy bag and followed professor.

Mrinal 10-10-2010 09:23 AM

KieraLouPotter 10-10-2010 05:38 PM

Lilyana had been listening to the whole discussion and was super excited to move on to the practical part of the lesson. She hurridly packed up her notes, books, and quills, and put them in her bag, just in time to follow everyone to the great hall.

city_girl_95 10-10-2010 08:10 PM

Oooooh practical fun time, hopefully another paintball session, Amy packed up her bag, putting all her books and pencil case in her bag, she stood up and began to follow the professor and pupils over to the great hall

Practical? Great hall? Emily was glad the nurse hadn't kept her in the hospital wing, she would have hated to miss this.

Jason Potter Weasley 10-13-2010 03:05 AM
