Lexi chuckled as Tate scolded Sabel for snuggling. Hehe. Clearing her throat she said, " Petrificus Totalus."

The1HBIC 10-07-2010 03:20 AM

Marie quickly raised her hand. "Expelliarmus." Yes, that was a good defensive spell.

Holmesian Feline 10-07-2010 03:22 AM

One spell each...that shouldn't be too hard for there are many to chose from, Simon mused to himself as he debated just which one to give. Deciding to leave the more common ones to the rest of the class, one stuck out it his mind, a small smirk on his face as he thought of the spells effects on his brother if he was able to use magic all the time at home.

"Theres Locomotor Mortis,"
he offered as he spoke up.

B~Lee 10-07-2010 03:23 AM

Brittany raised her hand "Chaleur baton". she said. She really wanted to learn that one :shifty:. With a hotwand they would drop it and with no wand Victory shall be hers *evil grin*

Yourenodaisy 10-07-2010 03:24 AM

Emmaleigh raised her hand, "Well, there's the Bat-Bogey Hex." she wasn't sure if that was right, but she had read it recently, so, yeah

Tazenhani 10-07-2010 03:29 AM

A heavy frown drew across his expression at Tate's reprimand. There was a strong part of him that wanted to argue whole heartidly that comforting was not the same as cuddling or snuggling. It was only the repeated mantra of a place and time for everything that caused him to slowly remove his arm from around Arya's shoulders and clench his jaw shut tight. Lexi's giggling didn't help. Time and place. Time and place.

Doing his best to ignore the pressing thoughts about the Aprecarium that Tate's words drew up, he focussed his attention on the discussion at hand, his voice coming out a little more agitated than he intended. "Confundo can be offensive."

A time and place.

Roselyn 10-07-2010 03:43 AM

The smell of hot chocolate...it was getting to her.

Which was whyyy she was paying attention to the FIRE!! Fiiiirrrree. Would the Headmaster be angry if she reached out and touched it? Could she touch it!? OMG! She would be so happy! It somehow reminded her of that fire Lafay used on her and two others. Fire that didn't burn, but actually did burn you. She needed to learn that spell.

Hmm wait what? What were they talking about? Spells. Naming off spells. She could do that! "There is...Stupefy, i suppose." Right? That was acceptable in a duel right? RIGHT!?

Lockhartian 10-07-2010 03:46 AM

Mmmhmm. Treyen raised his hand again, but this time he sounded more certain. He knew little, though, "Impediment Jinx" yes, whatever that meant.

He'd read it somewhere, and he needed to find that book again, because he was having second thoughts as if that spell could be used either defensive, offensive or both. But, it was a spell, nonetheless. One that he didn't even know could be used in a duel?

Anyone ever used Impedimenta in a duel? Yeah, he didn't know.

Ashwinder 10-07-2010 03:47 AM

Ha HA! No one had taken his tried, tested and true dueling spell yet! Win! Kellen spoke up, "Protego is a key defensive spell." He didn't know whether to snicker or roll his eyes at Tate's remark to Sabel, but considering Lexi was laughing that really only left one option, didn't it? Discrete eye-roll.

Mrs. Weasley 10-07-2010 03:48 AM

Sidney looks at the cup of cocoa glad she hadn't drank any. She's surprised Professor Tate didn't lace it with Veritaserum. That would have made class interesting. Sidney smiles at him. She still doesn't trust Tate completely something about his eyes. Sidney raises her hand. "Professor Truebridge taught us the Histedius Jinx. It can conjure a circle of green light which homes in on its target knocking it over like the knockback jinx. The Histedius Jinx is betther than the other jinx because it can be controlled better and has more strength and range." Sidney hopes she remembered everything correct. She doesn't have her notes from that class with her.

PatInTheHat 10-07-2010 04:18 AM

Think inside the box? She had never been told to do that before, but really, it couldn't be too difficult. Her eyes flicked up at Sabel to see if he would respond to what Tate had said, and was thankful that he kept silent. Though it was obvious that he wasn't pleased by the man's words. She chose to ignore it all, including Lexi's giggling. Her life was just easier that way.

"Stinging Hex." She responded, hand lowering to tug at the beanie on her head again. It was a bit chillier now that she wasn't drinking her hot coco. Maybe she should have chosen a seat closer to the fires.

Lexers 10-07-2010 04:19 AM

Cameron grinned darkly.

"Bombardus Maxima.. y'know.. if you want the roof to fall on your opponents head or something.."

Steelsheen 10-07-2010 04:22 AM

Salander raised his hand, not only remembering this from the old Potter stories, but worse, having seen it done first hand "Sectumsempra." nasty spell that is.

luciussoulmate 10-07-2010 05:10 AM

Vienna nervously raised her hand she was still shy around the Headmaster but was determined to answer his question and do well in his class. "Relashio she answered it knocks your opponent unconscious

sweetpinkpixie 10-07-2010 05:18 AM

Kurumi slowly raised her hand. "Indian Burn Hex?" she said more as a question. That was probably just a joke her brothers had told her, so she thought it best to offer one more. "Or Avis. When coupled with Oppugno, it can be used offensively."

SilverTiger 10-07-2010 07:13 AM

The concept of thinking outside of the box was definitely one that Grayson wasn't unfamiliar with. And neither was dueling, although most of her knowledge about that was from reading about duels. Most of which were from the stories about Harry Potter, and when Salander had mentioned Sectumsempra, she'd glanced at him. That was definitely one of the spells she'd read about, and it was definitely not one she'd want to defend against. If defense against that was even possible. But oddly, it made her think of another spell, so she raised her hand. "How about Levicorpus? It may not have really ever been used in a dueling sense, but it would work." Being unceremoniously suspended by your ankle had to be startling enough to do something. Like it would work as a distraction, and even possibly a method for disarming. Of course, she wasn't exactly the best at nonverbal spells yet, but she wanted to learn that spell anyway.

Mell 10-07-2010 08:25 AM

Thinking outside the box?

Mia tended to do that a lot. Not intentionally of course. She was merely weird and didn't think like normal people most of the time. But she guessed it could work in a duel. Not sure how but she was sure the Professor would enlighten them.

But for now she had to think of a spell that could be used in a duel. Some of the students had come up with some rather violent ones. Especially Sal. The boy was starting to scare her with the way he thought.

Raising her hand in the air, Mia spoke up, hoping that this was a good enough answer. "You could use 'Obscuro.' If your opponent can't see you then I guess it would make it easier to attack them." Where did she come up with these things?

city_girl_95 10-07-2010 09:39 AM

Reducto? It's more of a charm but it can create walls inbetween you and your opponent Amy said, finishing her hot chocolate

PureBlood64 10-07-2010 09:50 AM

Katie thought.

I'm Thinking..

Katie had no idea, that, no, what about, no, Think Katie Think! "One could be Expelliarmus because it gets the person's wand out of there hand and that defends you from getting hit with spells" Katie said.

:erm:

Why that one? Thats hardly one, Katie Guessed that was better then nothing.

TeafortheSoul 10-07-2010 09:53 AM

*gaaasp* look who's posting!

Jimmy raised his hand. For whatever reason he felt like answering this one.

"Finger removal jinx." Pause. "Its awesome." He looked at that Slytherin dude, Salander, for a mental high five. Sectumsempra was epic too. The guy had style.

Zoom 10-07-2010 10:24 AM

Oh dang. See, Leilani could act like she knew what offensive and defensive spells were, but actually thinking of them?? No. It couldn't be done.

"Uuuuuh, serpensortia would be an offensive right?" Mmhmm, sure let's go with that.

The girl finished off her hot chocolate, setting it to the side on her desk. Now. Whhhhhyyy, was she terrible in this class again?? ... Riiiiiight.

iBeJenn 10-07-2010 10:59 AM

Selena thought about it. "Uhm... Incarcerous is an offensive spell," she said. Selena then took another sip of her hot chocolate. Yum.

BearyMay 10-07-2010 11:01 AM

Think Dianna, think..
"How about..erm..Avis? It can be used offensively when coupled with Oppugno." Dianna said as she lowered her hand.
Afterwards she gulped down her hot chocolate.

neaped 10-07-2010 01:06 PM

Hugo looked around. Uhh... "Expulso, perhaps?" he said. "It makes objects explode."

Wonderstruck 10-07-2010 01:15 PM

"Professor couldn't Flipendo be a useful spell since it can knock an object backwards?" Alice asked. She wasn't sure if they normally used it in duels, but it seemed like it could be a useful spell.
