"And I do hope that you succeed." Lily replied with a laugh, "I am sure neither of us would like to spend the night in the hospital." No indeed Lily was hoping that the students would all be in good health.

Speaking of which, she, too, needed to make the rounds and tell all the children hello, too.
Professor Carlton, hmm? In the short amount of time Lexi had been colleagues with Preston Kingsley, she'd learned that he rarely ever---if at all---referred to a fellow staffer by his of her first name in the presence of students. While Lexi was a little more laid back, she respected Preston's beliefs and always referred to him in the same manner he referred to her.
"Professor Kingsley," she said, greeting him with a smile. She looked thoughtful for a few minutes while she thought about which of her friends might show up. "I'm not sure. It's been a while since I've really talked to a lot of them. In between moving to America and back again, it's been nearly a year since I've had the chance to catch up with all but a small group of them." She was pretty sure most of them would show up, though. They seemed to be a lively bunch that would enjoy an event like this one.
Lexi just laughed lightly and playfully shook her head. Of course she and Lily wouldn't fight one another, but that didn't mean it wasn't fun to joke about it. Just to play along, though, Lexi glanced over at Lily and batted her eyelashes, as well.
When the moment had passed, Lexi turned back to the crowd of people and watched as student after student filed in. "Lil, I think I'm going to step away for a bit. I'll make my way back around sooner or later," she said. With that, she edged her way out the crowd and toward the seating area.
"See you around, Professor Kingsley," she said, calling out over her shoulder as she walked away.
Lily simply nodded when Lexi said she was off. She was planning on letting the woman be alone, for the most part, with her date. IF it was a date, there was no fun in having a third wheel about.
And Sage was nervous enough already.

"I was only teasing." Lily replied, her voice just as low as his had been, "I meant no harm, please forgive me." Her dazzling smile was back as she waved at more students and guests, "I would love to dance with you." She added, hoping to cushion the ego.
Celandine waved her fingers at Liz, recognising the older girl and offering a little smile to go with the wave. She noticed JD and his terrible hair too, but she was, for the time being, distracted enough to let it slide.
For now.
"Definitely." Celandine murmured, she totally agreed but only half of her brain was present right now, she was just that entranced and pleased to see Copernicus.
She was also quite aware though, that Raiden was kind of making googly eyes in Nia's direction.
Honestly Raiden should have more faith in Cela's ability to have pretty friends.
She hoped he'd ask her to dance later.
Glancing at JD again, Cela shook her head sadly. Obviously a lost cause. But maybe she could offer 5 points to the person who managed to tame his hair? It was letting Ravenclaw down with all its untamed and slightly horrific glory!
See the thing was, certain people could get away with crazy hair, like the Slytherin Quidditch Captain, who totally pulled it off in that way that sorta made you want to run your fingers through his hair.
JD was failing though.
Fail, JD. Fail.
"At least." Celandine agreed, suddenly feeling like boyfriend wasn't really enough to explain stuff. Not considering how some Hogwarts kids dropped and switched boyfriends and girlfriends as often as they changed their robes.
"And just this one sir." Pause. "A lot and as often as I can." Pause again. "Because I'm good at it."
She turned to Copernicus again and smiled affectionately. "See you inside." She echoed and watched him go.
Looking up toward Cela again he grimaces. Ducking his head, he looks back at Nia, hoping Cela wouldn't do nothing. Nerves getting the best of him, he waits til Ellie was done greeting people before he takes off.
He didn't want to wait around to see if Cela would do something or send someone to do it for her.
Wiggling her fingers toward Cela when she noticed her waving to her, she gives her a smile again. "Later..." she mouths to her.
She'd enjoy catching up with her old friend. Now, if only she could find Rian...
Pulling at his collar, he nods "I enjoy seeing all of us like this. Though wearing this is a bit much..." he adds pretending to choke with his collar.
Looking over at Ellie, he smiles, "Though I wouldn't mind seeing you girls dressed up this nicely more often."
Ah, how nicely he avoided picking up her subtle hints. Perhaps a bit too subtle, but anything else would attract wayyyy to much attention. And she was meant to be meeting and greeting and generally looking pleasant and elegant.
"Aha," she exclaimed. "But you have to wear that with us girls in pretty dresses." And anyway, girls had stuff to deal with too. Like heels on shoes. Trainers and pretty pumps were so much more comfortable. And she'd only opted for a small heel with her dress. "And it looks good on you," she added. "When you're not fiddling with it..."

"'s very shiny, isn't it," he murmured in response to her comment about his tie. That was why he'd picked it. Magpie!Raiden. Hehe. "Your dress is... interesting. I don't think I've often seen you off the Quidditch pitch, so it's... different."
The shiny parts were distracting. But not quite distracting enough to make him miss the fact that Cela was face!nomming Cope. Glancing at his friend as Nia turned to talk to someone else, he quickly averted his eyes and tried not to laugh. Overzealous, Cela could be. She was excited enough to have made little Arya uncomfortable. Raiden bit his lip and did his best to hide the grin of amusement, but it just wasn't happening. At least they wouldn't have to be out here much longer, according to Headmaster Tate.
Not that... he really had much to do in the actual ball anyway.
Nia swished around a bit more, liking the way the fabric moved. Ah, hopefully someone would ask her to dance so she could have the same sensation whilst waltzing round the dancefloor. How awesome would that be? Sigh.
"It is!" Nia said with a grin. "And shiny is good for an event like this. Extra special." She grinned and looked down at the gems on her dress, doing a little shimmy to help them catch in the light. Okay, they were nothing compared to Cela's whole dress, but for Nia it was a good amount. A pretty smattering.
"That's the idea, though, of dressing up for an occasion," she said, a smile flickering across her lips. "Or it was for me, a chance to be a bit more...elegant and poised. For the evening at least." She laughed. "Though how well I'm doing, I'm not really sure. I know I fell in love with the dress though, and well, sometimes it nice to be perceived a bit differently." She gave a small shrug. Sure she loved being herself - Quidditch minded, chilled and comfy - but there was always that princess dream that all little girls had, right? Big dress, grand staircase, a dance...
"Good evening, young lady," Tate grinned at the child in front of him. "You certainly look very nice. I hope you enjoy your evening."
Blushing a little Kay smiled at the headmaster. "Thank you sir. I hope you enjoy yourself too." She said moving on to the next person.

Listen to Rex she thought about what he had just said. "Rex you can talk to anyone you want. It's a party, not class." Kay said giggling. Stepping up to greet those in line, JD looks to Ellie, he hadn't been there much longer then she had, but knew a few of the people in the line. He wondered if she knew any that were from previous years.
Smiling over at Nia, who seemed a little nervous he tries to avoid Cela's glance.
Ellie looked down the receiving line. She didn't see many people she knew. Just professors and prefects and Nia. She wondered if JD knew any of the older people.

Had he not had a shower since the last Quidditch training session? Ewwww. Actually, he must have done, else surely Ellie wouldn't still be holding his hand.
And now she had a choice. Did she go all motherly and fix herself? Or casually let it go? Oooor, wait for Cela to notice and deal with it? Hmm... Choices. In the meantime, more conversation.
"Thank-you," she said with a smile. "Thought I'd make a bit of an effort," and with that she gave a quick wink. "Your suit's nice," she added. "It's odd but lovely seeing everyone so dressy and looking all grown up." Especially the Quidditch lot, who she was used to seeing at their sweatiest after a wet windy session in the air.
"You look great, Nia." Ellie commented. Breath. Act all calm and stuff. It'll work. But her nails were still in JD's hand, unknowingly.

Yeah, way to fail. What was wrong with her? She was usually all calm and outgoing and stuff. This was too weird.

He paused, to nod at more student as they entered, but when he turned to address the woman once more, she was on her way toward the Hall.
"Have a wonderful evening, Professor Carlton," he called back to her.
He glanced around, wondering where Eleanor had gotten to. She seemed to have made her way past him without his even noticing. Well, he would stay and greet and after, he would go find her.

Squeezing her hand gently, oops...maybe he shouldn't do that, with the nails digging in more, he sees she's starting to relax at least a little.
"Do you recognize any older people here?" he asks curiously. Not really recognizing anyone, he shakes his head. "I really don't..."
Ellie shook her head. "No.."
She felt so weird. All these older people. All these people dressed up. All in their 'fancy mature' way. And, regardless of what she had said, she didn't feel comfortable in a dress. Not really. She'd much rather be wearing comfy shorts and a t-shirt... Much rather, actually. And she didn't like the fact that her wand was so far out of reach either..
Now she was freaking over her wand. What if there was an emergency? Did JD have his wand? Was it close at hand? Where was everyone else's wand? Were people as freaked out about this as she was? She began not liking the idea of a ball at all. So many people grouped together. Just a perfect opportunity for someone to sneak in and wreak havoc. Too perfect.
Her left hand still in JD's, she tightened her grip even more. And took her right arm and squeezed his upper arm. She was not smiling anymore. Yeah, she was freaking out now. Freaking out for no reason.

She really wanted to stuff her face with chocolate. "Sir, is there any chocolate cake?" WAS THERE!?
She'd rather have her brother come alongside her father, but since her father wasn't coming, and she somehow said it was okay for Treyen to tag along, then...she was sort of stuck.
And while she was rolling her eyes at her brother, because, really, he was blaming the lateness on her behalf, Kaika heard something that she recognize...and something about chocolate something-something...if it was CHOCOLATE, then it must be....
"Miranda!" Kaika exclaimed, at the sight of her most beloved friend at Hogwarts, "We finally see each other!" and....yes....here comes the hug! Because each summer had proven to be impossible for them to meet...
"You look stunning!" she smiled, simply ecstatic to be back at Hogwarts, though, she was really happy to be out of the Castle now.

Oooooooooh. They were here! Finally!
Treyen had been speaking the whole way to the Castle because his sister took sooooo much time to get readyyyyy! In all fairness, it was HER fault that he had to change....he had a whole outfit figured out but she decided against it, and so he had to change...
...and this military jacket was not too much to his liking...Gilderoy wouldn't have approved of this.
He was walking behind his sister, when...well...she saw the Hufflepuff Captain, whom Treyen smiled and waved, but he kept walking...
"Profesor! How are you this evening? I hope everything is doing great so far! Am I dressed appropriately?" he asked, giving a look at Professor Kingsley's outfit.
Heh. Nia was very shiny too, and she was making a point of turning so the light would catch it and show that off. Her dress was just a mass of ruffles and shiny, wasn't it.
"You're doing well with the elegance and poise part," he pointed out, nodding. "You've not fallen down or anything."
He expected quite a few girls would though. Their shoes were so ridiculously HIGH. At 5'10", Raiden himself would never, ever have use for shoes to make himself taller, but even if he were shorter, he probably wouldn't like them too much. Some of them looked painful. Why would anyone wear pointy shoes?
Nia would certainly be perceived differently after tonight. Especially by Raiden, who was pretty sure he had never, ever seen her wearing girly things. If she was predisposed to wearing them, then he somehow hadn't ever noticed. Then again, he wasn't a particularly perceptive person.

Preston looked down upon hearing a voice. "Ah, Mister Lockhart, good evening."
He took in the boy's outfit and gave a nod. Whether or not he approved was irrelevant. "I am quite well. And yourself? How is your study with Professor Dodson's texts coming along?"
This was still school, after all.

Grin. The boy was certainly happy to be here.
And, according to certain etiquette rules his grandma sort of reminded him, he was not supposed to remain for too long in lines that were meant to receive people. Which was this one! But, yeah, he shouldn't and perhaps Professor Kingsley thought the same as his grandma, which meant that he wasn't going to stay here forever.
Double grin. So, he was dressed appropriately, for his age. AWESOME! Perhaps Kaika had been right all along...
..."Oh, I'm great...happy to be here" indeed he was, "It's going wonderfully well, Professor! I had no idea how many magical plant and trees actually existed! Wandmakers do have a tough job, for sure" mmhmm, he said the last in a very grave tone.
Bella turned around to look at Gold, she remember her. From last year. Potions. The class with the most problems. She smiled "Gold!" She cried giving her a hug.
She jumped back, "sorry!" she said looking down at her shoes.
At the memtion of her dress she looked at it, "Thanks, it used to be my mothers" She was surprised it fitting her, for her mother had been nearly twenty when she wore it, although she had been short, and bella was tall.
Gold was totally thrown taken by surprise, when Bella hugged her. Not that she wasn't in the mood for hugs. She just hadn't expected one from Bella. She grinned though, when the girl pulled away.
"It's okay, I like hugs," she chuckled. Whooaaaa. OLD dress. But that must make it all the more precious. Gold hoped she could wear her mother's dresses, some day. They were all so pretty and silky and.... oldish. Even though her mother was really, really particular about her dresses, and they were buried under the weight of half a dozen charms, to make sure they didn't tear, or the cloth didn't look worn out, or... lots of stuff. Gold shook it off her mind, to look back at Bella.
"Must be pretty special for you," she smiled.

Yep Gryffindor, she was right. Hehe. She chuckled slightly, watching Gold looking down at her dress. Which made her comment on something. "Oh and you look very pretty by the way," of course, there was lots of girls in here which looked very pretty this evening.
Gold beamed. "Thanks," she said. Compliments. Those were nice. Though Gold had kind of expected she would get lots of them tonight, you know? Because everyone would be complimenting everybody, to be polite. Not that she doubted she looked good. It was just that one doesn't actually have to look good at a ball, to get praised.
Though Hogwarts did look realllyyy pretty, today; as did most of the girls. They were all sooo shiny and happy and nicely dressed up.
That was just awesome.

"This was all I had to choose from," he said brightly, nodding. "It's the only kinda... actual suit thing I have with me."
Aww, Raiden was soooo cute. Even without the kitty!ears, because Gold had once thought his cuteness had to do with his kitty!ears. Well, they weren't there any longer, hadn't been for quite a while, and he still managed to make her go all "aww" on the inside.

...when did she get so nervous, again? Lexi had rarely ever been the nervous type, and she didn't really want to start now. So with that thought in mind, she strolled up the receiving line with a bit more confidence and decided to throw all caution to the wind when it came to meeting and greeting with people.
Now...where was Lily at?
Aww. Headmaster Tate was being nice. That wasn't a surprise but, you know, he was being awfully sweet about the fact that they were there. "You do a fantastic job too, sir," she beamed, as she greeted a few people she only knew by sight, with cheerful hello's.
Well, usually.
But even Headmaster Tate was looking SHINY tonight, so that must mean he was doing something really, really right.
Because shiny is GOOD.
Looking away from the Headmaster, Gold spotted Professor Carlton's arrival. The Charms teacher looked simply splendid, too! "You look amazing, Professor Carlton," Gold said pleasantly, as Healer Moretti arrived and the Gryffindor directed her attention back to the hello's.

Like most of the other people. But it stood out all the more, because Gold had never seen Arya this dressed up, before. The change was really.... shiny.
Her eyes flicked to Cela. Fire. That was the one nickname Gold absolutely HATED. Not because she didn't like it [she secretly loved it], but because Xylon specially used it to annoy her. But Cela's statement made the corners of her lips turn up into a pretty smile. Because Gold liked thinking that she looked like fire. The whole Gryffindor effect.
"Both of us look shiny," she told Cela, matter-of-factly. Shiny was good. Oh, and THERE was Copernicus. Gold remembered him, from the Wizarding University Booth. She gave him a little, rather inconspicuous wave, looking away to greet another person then, and totally not realizing that Cela had launched herself on her boyfriend.

Oh, and there was Ellie. Looking all different, in a dress. There were some people Gold had never thought of, in dresses. Simply because they had never shown much interest in that kind of swishy stuff, when around her. She waved to Ellie, now, wondering if it was just her perception sending her all the wrong signals, or if the girl really did look a little stressed out.
"You look totally different," she said cheerfully. In a nice way, though. Gold's expression said as much. "How are you, Ellie?"

Tomasina was nervous. And that was saying something, she always liked to have a take charge attitude. But she hadn't been back to Hogwarts since she graduated, and she hadn't really kept in touch with anyone. There were a few people she wished she could forget she had ever met, and a few that she maybe would have kept in touch with if she bothered.
She walked into the ball room with a huge smiled on her face even though her stomach was tossing flips around in her red Dolce and Gabana dress. Her brown eyes swept the ball and they fell upon a familiar figure, but she had to blink to make sure she was looking at who she thought she was looking at. It couldn't be. That last she had seen of that girl she was...playing bugs with her constantly sticky fingers and flyaway hair.
Her heels rang out on the flag stone as she strode over. "Celandine Toussiant. As I live and breath," she said shaking her head as the took in the now taller girl and then her eyes fell on her heels. "You're wearing heels?" she asked the total shock evident in her voice. Now that was a page turner right there. "I hope my small fashion suggestions had something to do with this," she waved her hand at the whole ensemble Cela was wearing.

Ellie looked down the receiving line. She didn't see many people she knew. Just professors and prefects and Nia. She wondered if JD knew any of the older people.
"You look great, Nia." Ellie commented. Breath. Act all calm and stuff. It'll work. But her nails were still in JD's hand, unknowingly.
Ellie smiled. That was nice. Nice compliments. She thought it funny the way he was bothered by his collar. Guys never liked to dress up, did they? "I like getting all dressed up sometimes." Yeah, way to fail. What was wrong with her? She was usually all calm and outgoing and stuff. This was too weird.

Smiling over at Ellie, who still was nervous obviously with those nails. Oh, for the ruffles, he thought. As Nia fluttered her ruffles when another boy was talking to her.
Squeezing her hand gently, oops...maybe he shouldn't do that, with the nails digging in more, he sees she's starting to relax at least a little.
"Do you recognize any older people here?" he asks curiously. Not really recognizing anyone, he shakes his head. "I really don't..."

Nia smiled at Ellie's compliment. "Thanks muchly," she said, beaming. She brushed her hair back over her shoulder. "You're looking absolutely lovely too." Perhaps a bit nervous, but that was to be expected really - first ball and all that. Let's face it, inside Nia was still a tad nervy and awkward. "You both look really cute together too." She gave an excited look at them both. It was nice to see them off of the pitch all dressed up, and refined. With Ellie not eyeing a bludger determinedly.
She dropped her voice a bit as they were looking to see if they recognised anyone. "If it helps, I don't either..." she said in more of a whisper. "And I probably should. Being a sixth year and all."

"All good so far then," Nia replied. It actually felt quite nice being like this. And as for falling over? She giggled. "Not yet," she said with a wink. "I played it safe with the shoes. Getting down here from the Seventh floor was way too risky otherwise. I didn't think a broom was appropriate. And I don't need any broken limbs... though there's still the dancing bit to come." She winked. She was tempted to show him her rather low kitten heel, but decided the simple design might look like it let her outfit down and thus it was safer hidden. Plus he was a guy, so he probably wouldn't appreciate it anyway. Perhaps apart from the fact it was low and so he stood ever so slightly taller than Nia. Did that sort of thing matter to males nowadays? Or was that a traditionalist view from literature? Hmm...maybe she still read too much.
The dancing bit reminded her. She'd have to go into the room at some point. She was quite happy greeting so far though. Maybe some old faces she knew would turn up. She turned to Raiden.
"So, have you got a shiny lady friend to go on your arm and match your tie?" she asked curiously. Surely he would, as Slythie Prefect, have had a load of offers. She couldn't remember seeing him with anyone in particular previously. But there again, she only really saw him in lessons, where couples shouldn't be too obvious to the Professors anyway.

Another person she could share the - embarrassment - with. "Understatement of the century, Nance," she said through gritted teeth, smiling as another person went past. "You look gorgeous, though." Totally.
Gripping Nancy on the arm, as she went to put her foot back down, Sarah took the chance to have another shifty look at the people around her.... There were the other Prefect's, all doing their thing. Although Raiden did look over at her, prompting a grin and small wave from the Hufflepuff back in his direction.
"Ohh boy."

Okay okay, she could do this. She totally could. That is, if these damned shoes would KEEP STILL. Or...y'know, stop making her wobble. Right.
Smoothing down her short black dress, Miranda carefully, but not THAT carefully, walked off towards the recieving line where apparently they should be standing. Seeing Sarah and Torin standing there, Miranda breathed a sigh of relief and hurried over. "Higuyshow'sitgoing,ey?" Nervous much? Gosh. She kept twisting the dress fabric and felt a bit naked. Like...where was the rest of the dress? HER KNEES were getting COLD!
Hehe.
Oh, and there was her Head of House. He looked... different. The groundskeeper was wearing a suit!
Gosh...

“Ladies.” He smiled at the girls as he straightened his jacket. “You all look nice.” And... woah.. Miranda in a dress!
Staaaaaaaaare.
Blink blink.
Ahem.
Now that was a vision he never thought he'd see. Tearing his eyes away from her to look at the people making their way along the line, he raised an eyebrow. “Well this looks like fun.” He mumbled to himself.
He felt strangely like royalty as he stood there waiting to shake hands with people and chat to them or whatever the hell it was he was supposed to be doing.. except he wasn't a white haired shrunken old woman with a fondness for hats and corgis and people called Chaaaarrrrrrrrrrrles.
Hehehe.

Why was Sarah standing on one foot?! Was she trying some sort of meditation? Yoga? Maybe that was a good idea after all...a way to calm down and all. Though she would have to be all 'inhaaaaale!exhaaaaale!Oooooohm'...okay, maybe Sarah wasn't trying to do Yoga after all. Hmm..."You okay?" She inquired with a pointed look at the one foot which was not on the floor. Especially because the Hufflepuff seemed to be a bit wobbly on her feet...and who could blame her on those shoes?
"Pfft...well, isn't this fun." Nancy mumbled, fake-grinning at yet another person walking by, trying to keep any sign of discomfort off her face. Her blue eyes flickered back at Sarah as she complimented her appearance. "Why thank you. You too." And she did...whoa, it was so weird seeing all of her friends all dressed up and flashy. "Took me ages to figure out what dress to wear. Long, short, colorful?" In the end she had just picked one at random.
As Sarah grabbed her arm for support when she placed her foot back down Nancy smirked at her friend. "Those shoes are a challenge, huh?" At least for her. Following the Hufflepuff's gaze and direction she waved to she found herself staring at Raiden...who looked pretty handsome. Hehe. Weren't they just all so pretty? She grinned in his direction and gave a small wave in his direction.
And then more people started to arrive. "Miranda!" Whoa, somebody was nervous. And the Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain in a dress, that was something one didn't get to see everyday. "Hey Torin. Oliver." She grinned at the two boys upon their arrival before directing another fake-grin at a random person walking by. Yes, just smile and wave.
Or something.

A movement on her right caught her attention and still - unsuccessfully - trying to wipe that smirk off her face Nancy turned to face Gold who was waving at her. "Haii!" She mouthed at the fellow Prefect, giving a cheerful little wave at the red-head.
And then there was Trixie. Good thing this encounter wasn't because of yet another immature fist-fight. Which reminded her...where was Aiden actually? "Trixie! You look lovely." Because it was nice, giving out compliments on people's appearance. "Do I hint a bit of sarcasm there?" She asked with her eyebrows slightly raised. Hey, not funny that one. Stupid misbehaving Slytherins.

Before she could add anything else to Trixie though, the Headmaster approached them. Good thing for the younger Slytherin probably. Huff!"Thank you, Sir. We're doing our best." And obviously not epic!failing at it it seemed. Yes? Oh, and they were dismissed? Well, she couldn't just run and flee now, right? That would have looked a little strange. Just pretend like she totally had fun up there, fake-grinning at random people.
Where was a rescue when you needed it? Steveeeeeeeen?!
She was still giggling when she turned to address the other boy whom she was talking to. She closed her eyes andd breathed. DEEPLY. before opening them again, all giggles gone.
Well for now anyway.
"Haii Oliver" She said brightly, it was a nice name, yeah i most defently was, "Hm the ball. I sure hope so" Though she needed a dance partner first, "Hey, have you got a dance partner?" She asked suddenly, cursing herself afterwards. She blushed madly and looked at her feet again. They were nice shoes, she declared.
Looking up again she added, "This most defently is the highlight of the evening" She pointed at Torin, a alrge smile on her lips.
And then Torin was gone. And the lad looked none too happy. Poor pouting... PRINCESS. Baha!
Turning back to Isabella, Oliver was happy to see that she had also found the shenanigans rather entertaining but her rather direct question made the Slytherin cough – he had not been expecting that but he had to be nice and curtious and not screw up his face like he always did. Ahem.“I do I'm afraid.” He said politely. “But I'll save a dance for you, eh?” Because the Slytherin Captain was nice like that. Ooh.. lookit! - She'd gone all red like a giant tomato. hehe.
He smirked when she looked up again and followed her eyes to where the now absent Torin had been. Oh maan, so maybe the catcalling was a bit much but the dude should learn to laugh at himself. Seriously.

Ehhhh.. Miranda seemed a bit distracted and boy did she look uncomfortable. He raised his eyebrows and followed her eyes to towards the entrance hall. She wasn't thinking about doing a runner, was she? His focused back on her and eyed her suspiciously.
“It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Not awkward in the least.” Which was good – everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. “So you're here with Brant, right?” He asked her trying to be all casual about it. Oliver spied someone waving to him from further up the line. GOLD! Ooh.. she looked nice. He smiled and waved back friendlily. One day he would actually manage to talk to her. One day. Heh.

Quirking an eyebrow at him, she nodded her thanks of his compliment. "Nice of you to say. You look quite handsome yourself." Yes he did. Shame he was going with someone, Sarah totally would have snagged him as a date. A friendship date, obviously.
"I think people in there," Sarah thumbed into the actual Ball area, "are having fun." It was an aside to the comment Miranda made to Oliver. And truthful. 'Cause as much as she didn't REALLY mind standing and saying hello to loads of people, the Ball looked to be more interesting.
Oliver smiled – Aww.. Sarah could be so nice sometimes. “Thank you.” He replied as he pulled at the font of his jacket. For a boy who usually made no effort whatsoever, he did scrub up alright.
“Ah.. this isn't too bad.” He said looking around. “Just think, we'd have missed all the 'Torin in a dress' action if we'd been in there.” Snicker.
“So is Ryder coming?” He asked the prefect. Last time he'd spoken to the girl her boyfriend was yet to ask her.

Oliver's attention was drawn to the head as he addressed them. He smiled. “Thanks, sir.” He said and saluted the man. Heh. They could go soon? Good because as much as he was enjoying this shindig, poor Cameron was probably waiting in the entrance hall getting increasingly agitated if Oliver knew her as well as he thought he did.

Ehhh.. he couldn't think of any stupid names to call her in return. Brain!fail. “Surprisingly, yeah.” He replied. “You look nice, Trixie. Oliver smiled at Nancy who looked like she was grimcing at some poor person who was on their way past. That was a smile? Meh.. what sort of a Slytherin was she if she couldn't even fake a genuine looking smile? Hehe.
The catcalling had not gone unnoticed by the prefect and Oliver looked at her, his whole face full of amusement. He hid his mouth behind his hand to attempt to prevent himself from laughing but it didn't work very well. “Oh c'mon. You can't deny that that was funny.” He said inclining his head to where the Huffie prefect had been only moments ago.
At her own jesting, he snickered. “The bell of the ball.” He nodded. Poor dude.

Taking out a moment to smile at Oliver - whom she had never really talked to even though they were around each other pretty often - Gold focused her green eyes on Nancy. Whose greeting made the corners of her lips turn up, into a really pretty smile.
"You look nice," she said, tucking a bright, red bang behind an ear as she spoke. Silly hair. Even though Gold personally thought it looked even more perfect than usual, tonight. Then again, everyone looked sooooo pretty right now. Well, the girls at any rate. Guys aren't supposed to be pretty.

Huh!? Miranda whirled around and saw Nancy, in a STUNNING dress. "Nancy, oh my gosh you look beautiful!" She grinned, giving her a hug. "Gosh, I keep thinking about that day we got stuck in the maze... that was a fun day, even though it got a little panicky." she snorted. Her point was? Oh, yes. "I bet you could've kicked that hedge's butt with that dress." And Miranda wanted to blow it up.

Soon, her name was called out again and her eyes grew WIDE as she saw her CAPTAIN!

Bella looked towards the headmaster, who had spoken to her., She smiled, she had never really spoken to him before. Bella falt herself go a little red in the face.
"I am very much Headmaster" She said politely, giving him smile.
"Are you?" She added.
SPOILER!!: Maura
Maura smiled. "Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have some makeup on me." She pulled an eyeliner out of her bag, When she looked up, Bella was already gone. "O...kay, or not, I guess," she said, putting it away.
Maura watched, amused, as Bella started running around, awkwardly talking to a few boys. Maura sighed. It was time to intervene.
"O-kay," she said, striding up to Bella and taking hold of her shoulder. "Slow down there. And hold still." Quickly, she applied the eyeliner to Bella's face, along with a few other items of cosmetics. "There, now you look beautiful."
Maura turned to Bella's companion. "Hey. I'm Maura," she said.
Bella hadn't noticed her friend had pulled out her make-up, she had been more interested in the plan, or mission as they had called it. Which out a second glance, which she knew was VERY rude, she had strode over to the boys which had started talking in the room.
She was slightly stunned when Maura had grabbed her shoulder and spun her around, what must it have looked like? She told herself as she politly stood and waited for her friend to finished applieing the make-up. Well she had been rude, so it was only fitting to let her friend do it right? And if she looked decent enough to catch a few eyes, she was on with that.
Smiling at Maura she said, "Thanks" Before turning back to the boys with her. She stood smiling as her friend introduced herself.
SPOILER!!: Gold
Bella smiled at Gold, glad she hadn't offended her, or scared her, or anything. Although she still went slightly red in the face as she looked at her Sparkly shoes. She liked sprakly things. They were so...so...SPARKLY.
Looking up again she smiling slightly, it was probably weird having an old dress on, well it was her only decent one at least. And she owned to her mum in a way, well she thought so. It was a nice old dress anyway, didn't look old or dirty, or battered. It was a simply light pink dress to the floor, it scruntched up to the side and into a nice medium sized bow. Just right.
"It's very special" She told Gold smiling at her. "I like your dress" She added.
SPOILER!!: Oliver
Seriously.
"Oh.." She said, a little down, there goes one possible dance partner. She flicked a look around the room, seeing if there was someone else whom she could ask to dance with. After Torin had stormed of, she really was stuck. She sighed and turned back to Oliver, her make-up shiny lightly in the face.
After hearing his second sentence she smiled, he would? No would have. "Oh thank you!" She gashed, before realising her mistake, he must think her of a silly little girl, "I mean, i have no one else to dance with" She added quickly. well if that didn't change his mind about her, what will.
She casted a looked at Maura, seeing if she had decided whom she would ask, before looking back at him, Smiling.
Biting her bottom lip she stared towards the doors, maybe Torin would come back. She doubted it he looked pretty mad. It was a joke though, maybe he should have laughed along, get past his embarresment more, i would have. She told herself.

“Emma!” He said brightly. Of course he knew her! “I'm great thanks. How are you?” Grin. Ok – so this was proving to be more fun than he had anticipated. Being the centre of attention and all that.. how could it NOT be fun? heh.
Emma grinned happy to see him, "I'm pretty good thanks! How are you? How's the ball going for you?" she asked. She thought he was a pretty good captain.
Mina could help by blush at the words Evan was saying. Every girl liked to hear such things, but she had a hard time believing the works nonetheless. She wanted to believe them, but it was rather embarrassing to tell herself that maybe Evan was right and she was all those things and he thought the words true as well.
Standing to the side, she shrugged. She wasn't about to really allow Violet to ruin her mood. She was there to have fun with Evan and no one would ruin it now. It was probably for the best that she kept her mouth shut for the time being. Besides, it was often best to just kill someone with kindness and not stoop to their level. Evan had it under control anyway.
Taking his arm again, she leaned into him and followed him in. Glancing back, she smiled. "Nice seeing you again, Violet." she called out as they walked through the doors. Looking over at Evan, she shook her head, a small smirk on her face. "Well, you handled that rather well." Masterfully done actually, she actually found some amusement in watching him handle that. She knew very well what he was doing and she would do her part to help him. She knew very well, she was there as his friend and not a true date. It didn't bother her all that much that it wasn't a true date, she could live with being Evan's friend, even if Violet thought differently.
Evan grinned as they were entering through the big doors. He knew very well that it was the only way to keep Violet away tonight. It'd be for everyone's good if she thought they were actually dating. "Thanks for playing along. Though, she probably hates you now." he said with an 'I'm sorry' expression. He debated about whether to keep this little lie going, but then decided against it. It'd be asking too much from Mina. As long as Violet stayed away for tonight, he was fine.
Wow! The Great Hall looked great! He smiled at the professors at the receiving line. Might as well thank them for the orginisation. "Thank you for this ball." he said and looked over at Mina to see if she wanted to have a small chat with any of them.
Oh lookie.. KAYTONE! and Dog!Boy Oliver smiled at the girl and waved at her. “Hello, Kay!” He said happily. “Like the dress.” Everyone looked splendid. He glanced at Rex and merely nodded in acknowledgement. He knew how that particular guy felt about him. *shrug*
Turning to see who was talking she see Oliver. "OLIVER!" Kay said walking over and hugging him. "Thank you. May I say that you look very nive tonight also." She said glad to see her friend. She hadn't been able to talk to him lately but she wanted too. "So are you going to give me one dance tonight." She asked hoping he would.

Wondering where Jason and Victoria were. "Jason! We were just wondering where you were." Kay said hugging her cousin and looking around for Victoria. "I haven't see her." She said still looking. "Rex Trigwell! You better not be upset about me dance with a FRIEND. I love you and that is that." She said looking into his eyes. "Remember that. I. Love. You." She said hugging him and kissing his cheek. "SO Lets go dance."
