Alessia has just finished pulling the desks and chairs the way Tiberius Pryce had said he had wanted them in his note. She took the note out of her pocket again, and looked it over:

Thanks!
Tiberius
She smiled and pocketed the note again... wondering if it had been the boy who sent her those horrid yellow flowers, or if it had indeed been the Upstead boy. Weird...
"These are the meanings of each of the runes, and you might think some of them overlap. Or maybe something you associate with fire, for instance, is assigned to West and air, for example. Why do you think that is?"
Aww, no Professor Pryce?
Gold raised her hand. "Is that because the elements are mutually inclusive?" she offered. "Soil - earth - needs water. Fire needs air to burn in." Combustion, right? "One could say that, somewhere along their paths, the elements transit into each other, each becoming a little part of the other. Some, of course, more than the other."
Okay, what had she just said? "I mean," she smiled up at Tibi. "Earth needs water to live. Fire needs water to die. Both of them need water, but in different ways. But both ways are important." Because life and death knew how to bleed into each other.
"... and you know, water can erode earth, and earth can kill fire. Goes to show the interconnectedness that there is, among them. They need each other - in some ways, are each other."

Reason: Wording. >_<
A sly smirk curled up Oliver's lips as he watched the little kid conduct the class, but it soon faded on his lips. He was actually doing a really good job. A lot better than Oliver could have done. Sitting forward in his seat, he rested his elbow on the desk and head on his hand and he listened to that Gold girl's reply.
Good answer. She sounded like she knew what she was on about and Oliver, well.. didn't really have a clue.
He straightened up and raised his hand deciding to have a stab at this and try and simpify what was going on in his head cos it was all just a load of jumbled up thoughts in there right now.
“Sir.."Sir? – heh. Seemed so funny calling nine year old, 'sir'. “All things are created from fire, wind, water, and earth and they need each other to exist. As Gold said...” he gestured at the Gryffie prefect. “...Fire needs oxygen to burn as well as earth, and water needs earth and vice versa. Everything is connected in some way, maan."
Eh? Did that even make any sense?
Shrug.
Oh, maan and then he started to smirk again. He just couldn't help it, could he?
Smiiirk.
Stoopid bloody face.

Violet raised her hand. "Master Tibi, I don't know what they mean but they are really pretty, is there any place I could get one?" she asked. Wow he's actually doing a good job she thought.
Being taught by a twelve-year-old was REALLY odd.Really.But Sarah had to give Tibi his due, he was a very good little 'professor', even if they couldn't call him that. The answer to his latest question, though, had already been given...as far as she knew anyway. She certainly couldn't add to what Gold and Oliver had said, just agree with them.So she nodded her head and continued scribbling notes on her parchment, trying also to add her own drawings of the runes Tibi was talking about.Just in case she lost the paper he'd given them.
Gold raised her hand. "Is that because the elements are mutually inclusive?" she offered. "Soil - earth - needs water. Fire needs air to burn in." Combustion, right? Tiberius had sat back down on his chair near the board and crossed his legs under him as he listened. Nodding he rested his elbows on his knees and put his chin in his hand.
"Exactly," he said excitedly. "And air can extinguish fire, too. And fire can turn water into vapor which puts it in the air, and water and earth mix all the time and some people would say there's spirit in all of it." Tibi grinned broadly.

Tiberius turned to Violet. "I have sets for you to use in class," he said smiling. "But they're really easy to make yourself."
Tibi sat up, leaving his legs crossed. "I guess now would be a good time to tell you more about the runes, how they were made and their use, and then we can work with them a little later."
Leaning over, he grabbed the bag with his personal set and dumped them into his hand. Holding up North, he addressed the class.
"These runes are made from clay, instead of wood or stone on purpose. From what Gold and Oliver said, you can maybe guess why." Tibi paused, grinning. "Clay is both earth and water in combination. And once the clay is molded and the shapes cut into it, it needed fire to make it hard. And then after that, they needed to cool in the air. Add in the reflection you should do on the meanings of each of the runes in your own life, and each piece represents the whole: earth, air, water, fire and spirit; north, east, west, south, center; creation and infinity."
Tibi looked around the room. This was getting easier.
"There are a few ways to use these runes, but remember, they don't tell the future. They give you something to focus on. They point your attention in a certain way. But they don't tell you what is going to happen. They only get you to think about what might. Or maybe what has already."
Tibi dropped North back in his bag. "Because of that, the meanings for these runes can be really personal. What I have written down for you are meanings that are pretty basic ones for the element or the direction or the season. But if South or fire or summer for you brings up a particularly strong feeling or association, you should consider that, too."
"What I want everyone to do is look over the list of runes and their meanings and pick one rune. Then, come up with a few possible meanings to add to it for when you do your readings. If one doesn't stand out for you, use the direction you're sitting in. The board is in the north, so those closest to it would be North. Opposite it, south. To the right, east. To the left, west."
Tibi stood up. "I'll be around if anyone has any questions. Oh! And you can work together if you want, but remember that you may not have the same feelings about particular elements or directions."
ooc: I'm going out for a while, so feel free to RP talking to each other about what meanings you might add to a particular rune. I said one to spread it out a little more. If you work together, you can talk about one rune per person (so a two person group could talk about two, etc).

Jack looked over the runes, trying to figure out which one really spoke to him. West seemed to describe him pretty well, and that was what he was looking for right? He watched Tibi up at the front of room, wondering how he was possibly doing this. He was like a natural!
He looked at the West rune again. Hmmmm, waves...that could mean trouble and rough waters ahead. That was sort of what was written in the description, but Jack just thought of rocky waters whenever he looked at waves, and that was what he always got out of it. Sort of like the mystery bit in the description. He quickly scribbled this down on his parchment before glancing at Reese, to make sure she hadn't passed out or anything.
Yeah. He was a bit paranoid after her...accident.

Oooh, this looked like fun. Gold dipped her pink-topped quill into ink, and began to scribble away.
SPOILER!!: Gold's work
Rune: Center
Meanings: The center could also be an embodiment of the spotlight and, that said, of crowds, society, elitism and the rich - the world does to tend to focus, or 'center,' on them, a lot.
It could also mean origin, the point from which life arises. Not to mention, passion, a target, or desire -- what we strive for, our center. Or harmony and silence. Quietude.
Gold waved a hand in the air. "Is this alright, sir?" This was certainly new, since she usually asked Professor Lupa, to check on her work. But hehe, sir! Sir Pryce. Even though she was still a little sad she couldn't call Tibi 'Professor' Pryce. That would have been even more fun.

Mina looked at all the runes and tilted her head in thought. Which of them spoke to her the most? She wasn't feeling a strong pull just one though. This was going to be slightly harder for her than she thought.
Looking up at Tibi, she smiled. He was doing a great job up there. She guessed his nerves were gone and the rest of the lesson would be an ease for him. Thanking back to what he was saying, she looked to the direction she was sitting. Maybe she would have some luck there.
South. She was sitting in the bend of the U and opposite the board. So maybe she would try South and see what she found. Fire, now that was interesting. She was fascinated with fire. Fire was dangerous but it did mean it was bad either. This was going to be a bit harder. Think silly girl.
Fire could create and destroy, but how could she relate to that? Things have been a bit strange as of late, so maybe it did make sense to her now. Jotting down her thoughts, she looked back up in thought. She needed to try a little harder to think about the rune.

Carter leaned over to Mina. "Which one are you going to do?" he asked looking over the different runes. When he got to the east rune he stopped. There was something interesting about that one. He read over the meanings. It represented new beginnings. No wonder that had stood out to him. And the season associated with it was spring. Spring was his favorite season. This was kind of cool.

Mina turned to Carter and shrugged. "They all speak to me, but I think I might try the south rune." she replied softly. The fact that it was associated with fire kept coming to her mind. She couldn't shake why it kept coming to her mind. It also represented transformation. She liked the sound of that.

"I'm doing the East rune." Carter said. He looked at the rune. There was a picture of the breeze on it. So maybe that could mean 'winds of change' or 'change' or something like that.

Alessia smiled as she went around to look at people's work with Tiberius. "Master Pryce," she whispered in his ear, patting him on the back, "you are doing a great job... you don't have reason to be nervous."
Chris smiled as Tibi taught the class. He was doing very well and by the look that Professor Lupa had, she thought so too. He listened as Tibi gave them the basics and he even went into great detail, which showed he knew his subject and was prepared.
Ok so now it was their turn to start looking at the runes? Ok so he had no clue which one to choose to start thinking of alternative meanings so he took the Ravenclaw's advice and used his position in the room as a guide. Ok show he was at the back of the class and facing the board and so that would mean he was in the South, so the South Rune was the one he needed.
So he pulled out his parchment and quill and began to write:
Quote:
Chris's Notes
Meanings: The South could also mean; ambition, strength, heat, and newborn (like the phoenix).
Ella listened to Tibi teach the class and smiled. She couldn't ever imagine herself up there. Wondering briefly if he remembered her from the time they had met in Diagon Alley, she turned back to Mina and Carter.
"The North rune sounds good to me," she told them, pulling out some parchment. She liked the fact that they had different ideas.

If you have a particular reason why you're adding those meanings, make note of it. It might be helpful later."

Tibi made his way back to the center of the circle. "What about creation? Or infinity? Anyone want to try those? Keep working, either with the same rune, or choose another. Just make sure to also think about why you're adding a meaning."

"Well I think that East doesn't only represent new beginnings and new friendships, but changes as well. You can't have something new without having change." Carter said. The rune itself kind of reminded him of the saying 'In with the new, out with the old.'

Ella was glad he remembered her. "Hi," she whispered back. Hearing his comment about the rune she picked, she felt good. Like it was nice to be original. She picked up her quill thoughtfully and got back to work. "You're doing a great job teaching, Master Pryce," she added with a smile.

That wasn't so hard, she thought. She just needed to think clearly about it. Glancing up at the runes again, she chose another one to do.

Setting down her quill, she looked at her work again. Tibi did say that the meanings were personal, so she felt a little better about her work.

She pulled a drawer open and pulled out candy and began handing everyone a piece, starting with little Master Pryce. "It's passion fruit candy, it'll make your taste buds giggle."

Vashti studied the runes for quite some time, wondering which to do. She didn't feel particularly drawn to any specific one, and though she was in the southern end of the room, she didn't want to do that one since a few people already were apparently. Then Tibi - er, Master Pryce - asked for someone to do creation or infinity, and since creation was then answered by a Hufflepuff that Vashti didn't know, she decided to try the infinity rune.
Dipping her quill in ink, she started jotting down a few things that came to mind.
SPOILER!!: Vashti's parchment
The Infinity Rune
-Could represent time itself since it also means the past, present, and future all at once
-Eternal life or life after death because of endlessness and cycles - that life continues on with no end, like a circle
-Or perhaps the circle of life - life and death, beginning and ending
She scanned it over, wondering if any of it sounded okay. Hm... She tapped her quill lightly on the parchment as she tried to think of anything else to add.
Tiberius turned and accepted a candy from Professor Lupa, popping it in his mouth quickly. "'fanks," he mumbled as he sucked on the candy.
"Those were all weally gweat," he said to those who had offered additional interpretations, realizing that his speech wasn't quite clear because of the candy in his mouth. Pulling it out, he grinned.
"You can take some time to think about each of the runes and if you'd add to any of the meanings for them later, but I think we need to talk about how to use them."
Tibi made his way back to the front of the classroom, taking a deep breath and slipping his candy back into his mouth.
"The simplest way to use the runes is to ask a question and then pull one rune. The question should be open ended instead of yes or no, since the runes won't give definite answers, just possibilities." Tibi swirled the candy in his mouth.
"But you can also use these runes in small spreads like the Three-Rune spread. Does someone remember what that is from last term? Or maybe from their textbook?"
Tibi bit down on his candy as he looked around the room.

Leave it to Jack to accidentally lose the notes he had taken on Three Rune spreads.
He was VERY careful never to lose his parchment and, of course, the one time he did--he needed it. Watch it show up on his NEWTs now too! He flipped through his textbook, scanning the pages to find the answer. Finally he raised his hand.
"Umm, well, you use three runes," he began. No DUH Fritzera. "And you lay them out in a horizontal line, and you read them from left to right. The first rune tells you about your...past or something, right? Or gives you background on the situation? Then the second one is the present and the third one tells you about the future and what is ahead."
Or something along those lines.

Ooo! Someone wanted him! Tibi hustled over to where Gold was sitting as she called him over. Chewing on his lip as he looked at her parchment, he nodded. "That's exactly what I was looking for," he said excitedly. "Is there a particular reason you chose this rune or those meanings?"
Aww. Tibi was so sweet. "Yes, sir," Gold said, beaming at him. "Because the center reminds me of circles, and circles are such an enigma. No beginning, no end. Infinity, if you will. Once again, an overlap." She was talking, now, of Tibi's rune-set.
"... and," she suddenly grinned. "I love the spotlight. The centre, you know." That, she certainly did.

Gold raised a hand. "Three runes, right, sir?" she said cheerfully. She wasn't so sure, but it was worth a try, right? "Laid out horizontally, and read from right to left. They depict the past, the present and the future. Or, in other words, rune number one is an 'overview' of what was, rune number two is the situation at hand - the 'challenge,' or base of the matter, if you will - and rune number three is what you need to pay attention to. The course of action you can take, or what the 'outcome' can be."
She had a strong desire to call him 'Sir Tibz.' Thankfully, she managed to resist the urge.

"Yes!" Tibi bounced a little. "Three runes, laid out right to left. So that's the reading we'll be doing. One thing that didn't get mentioned is that you need a question first."
Tibi stopped speaking as he picked up a box full of bags of runes for everyone and walked around, passing them out.
"It should be the kind of question that has an open answer, not just a yes or no. Think about your question, and then pull the runes from the bag to do the reading and lay them out right to left."
Once everyone had a bag, Tibi stood back at the front. "Do a reading for yourself, and pay special attention if the rune you added personal meanings to turns up. Once you've done your reading, you can share it with another student if you'd like. Maybe they'll see something you didn't."
ooc: I'm basing the way to do the reading off this HW from last term.
