Professor Truebridge opened the classroom door and all of the windows so that the room could air out a little bit. With a few flicks of Loretta, the majority of the dust was gone and Ethan spent a moment looking around, spotting his old desk and looking underneath it to see if his name was still carved into the wood.

Yup, there it was. He straightened and headed to the door, leaving and returning after a few moments with a bulging sack which he stashed under his desk up the front.

He took off his shoes and placed them aside, walking over to the door and tapping his wand against it to reveal a message;

Please take your shoes and socks off and leave them at the door.

Barefoot he strode around the classroom, idly moving each desk so they weren't quite straight and not quite facing in the same directions.

Organised chaos.

After a few moments he padded barefoot over to his chair and sat in it, waiting for the students to arrive.

ooc:

The class will open in a few hours... basically whenever I wake up... it will go for about 24 hours or so, giving ample opportunities for everyone to join in.

Posting in the class indicates you have read the rules thread and intend to follow them.

Please pay attention to ooc instructions in this class, but refrain from posting ooc notes yourself; if you have any questions, please PM me.

Freya raised her hand, "So as not to get the desks dirty? Or could it be because we have better traction with bare feet?" True, in some cases anyway, unless someone in here had cleets...bare feet were dirty too, yuck.

"No?" she answered in a questioning tone. Eva hadn't the smallest clue, although she could think of one or two reaons. Okay, just one, really, and probably the wrong one.

"Uhh... To keep the classroom clean?" No, his really answer was that the professor was a crazy old man!

Miranda grinned when the professor told them to stand on their desks. This was turning out to be rather entertaining!

She took a net from one of the students, and after thanking them, Miranda also climbed ontop of her desk.
Nice view! she snorted. Oh to be this tall all the time...

One thing that was annoying her was that she sort of recognized the teacher from somewhere, but couldn't quite place him.
Hopefully the answer would come to her...

Holding onto her net tightly, she waited for further instructions.

The young Ravenclaw was slightly taken aback as the Professor ordered them to stand on their desks. Yes ON, their desks. Shrugging she delicately climbed onto her desk and grabbed a net from one of her fellow students. Lasca felt slightly foolish, but the other students were on their desks as well.

Casting a glance at Mariel she shot her eyebrows up. It was a silent message, she was wondering what her friend thought of this. Was this normal behavior for the first class?

Hmm. Why had they taken their shoes off? Juniper raised her hand. "Shoes can have slippery soles," she said. "Perhaps we're more likely not to slip off the desks if we have bare feet."

Raising her hand once again she said, "Would it be because you were going to have students stand on a desk?" That was the only logical reason she could think of. First no shoes or socks,then butterfly nets,now students standing on desks. What next?

Rian frowned and shook her head when seh was handed a net. It wasn't a good idea; holding a stick of wood when she was in danger of falling off the desk at any moment.

When she heard the proffessor, -Truebridge, she'd heard some students say- ask the question, Rian carefully raised her free hand. "Umm, better balance?" she said, her worried voice making it sound like a question. "Or maybe to keep the desks clean?" She wasn't trying to be smart, she was honestly expressing what she thought might be right.

Jake shrugged as he looked around. Moving towards Cameron so they both stood at the same height and weren't towered over, Jake dropped his bag beneath the desk and stood up. At 4ft5, he could feel a great difference in the height, and though he wasn't scared, he knew how clumsy he could get.

He made the resolution to pull Cameron down if he was about to fall, so he'd land on something squishier than the floor. Sevre him right for poking his still purple ink-spiked hair.

After rubbing the back of his neck unsurely, Clifford raised his hand at the Professor's question. "Erm - is it 'cause you don't want us getting the desks all muddy, Sir?" He guessed the first reason that popped into his brain. Or maybe you just like the smell of cheese?

Sakura put up her hand, "Because balancing on the desks with our shoes on would be harder than if we are standing on the desks in our bare feet."

"Uhh," Cela raised her hand, thinking quickly and staring at her bare feet, "So we can feel... the world at our feet?" She guessed. The professor seemed strange enough to think something like that. She wriggled her toes experimentally, feeling the world.

Vanessa felt a little odd on the table. It was a little odd. She listened to the professors question before raising her hand. "So that we wouldn't mess up the desks or is it something to do with why we have these nets?"

Cale shurgged. Why HAD he made them take off his shoes? Thinking, he tried to think of the most logical reason before raising his hand. "Umm, are you trying to socialize us more by making us uncomfortably expose our feet?" he suggested. Crazy, yes, but he had learned to expect anything from professors, especially new ones.

It wasn't until the Professor asked the question that Varius' began to think about the reasoning behind the removal of footwear... he didn't realise there was a relevant reason related to this lesson other than the Professor simply wanted to keep his floors tidy. Maybe it was a trick question? He looked like the type to trick you for fun.

He thought and raised his hand, "Is it because they didn't have footwear in the part of history we are soon about to study... if we are going to study... history... that is."

Or maybe it was more Zen, Tobi wondered, Truebridge might be the type. He raised his hand (he'd forgotten the first time.) "So that we can become ONE with our desks?"

Anna blinked and looked down at her feet. She had no clue in this world why on Earth they took their shoes off. She glanced up at her net, trying to make some sort of connection between it and their barefeet. "Erm...perhaps this relates to the lesson in some way, and you'd like for us to get a better feel of whatever it is we'll be studying?" she asked. Ugh. How lame. Oh, well. It was a good effort for someone who was clueless.

Although the request was a strange one, usually something they were being told not to do, Savannah lifted her feet to her chair to pull herself up in a standing position, and then climb onto her desk from there. With the butterfly net in one hand at her side, she remained silent, listening to the guesses of her classmates.
