Sighing, she went back to try getting in a meditative stance. It shouldn't be too hard.
But five or so minutes of seeing into the yellowish surfice of that orb and she thuoght she woudl never see anything. Until finally... "An scorpion." She wrote that down, before returning to her gazing. Then an arrow pointing up, rather inclined. The rest looked like shadows looming, she couldn't tell if it had any shape. May it be because she kept thinking of what soem or another thing meant...
Thinking she had gotten her fair share of images, she went to the text book. First she looked at arrow and her heart dropped. 'Bad news in love'. Could it be any badder? (Pardon the invented word.) Why from all things... well, she didn't have any love life anyways. So Scorpion. She actually saw it coming, 'an enemy or backstabbing friend' (from other site). She looked at her results, now wanting to find somethnig else, something possitive. Couldn't she find a circle or something? Well, the arrow could have been a triagle, no? She though of this hopeful, seeing that meant 'good karma'. Professor Kotkin was distracted at what she saw in Nadia's orb. Gasping for breath she said in barely a whisper, "No, it can't be.....but it looks like a Grim!" |

She was expecting all of the negative omens were result of her lack of skills in the subject, but actually have the professor say it was like a pang in her chest.
On her current mood, it was like a inner battle to decide to freak out or groan resignedly. And though she did the last she was actually feeling much more responsive internally. She bit her lip and just hoped this woman - despite showing like she had her subject clear - would be making a mistake or be a farse like the famous Trelawney. She gulped, trying to convince herself that the thing meant nothing but...
If it was so she would have to drink Felix Felicis for the rest of her living days.

| Professor Kotkin was shocked at the reaction from her students, but then realized she had spoken out loud. "Oh my, Nadia, I'm so sorry. Please, tell me what you saw in the orb. I just glimpsed.... maybe it was a just a shadow. Let's see, you wrote down a scorpion? The scorpion may be trying to show you something around you that is hurtful or dangerous. An arrow could be bad news or a message of some kind, possibly about love. But a triangle can be a good karma, but it could also mean success or some reward if it was pointing up. If it points down it could be a missed opportunity or bad luck. Did you see anything inside of the triangle?" She hoped this would divert her from the Grim, but the message she was reading in the orb was a warning of some kind.

But if you say it us a wierd bird, maybe you are seeing a bat, which would be a warning of possible danger. What do you think? Is there anything else you see?" |

Nadia nodded and shook her head vigorously. Come on, don't loose your head yet. She gulped and checked back at her notes, breathing slowly. "Yes, a scorpion. The arrow, well, it looked like three lines pointing up-left. The lines were a bit too long for a common arrow, so I guess it could as well be a triangle over an arrow," she said, somehwat nervously.
"If it was an arrow, it was pointing to the up-side. Er, I mean to tell... it was up but inclined - it looked like the symbol of venus or women. Or was it the male one?" Possibly that way the professor would understand better. Something had to do something with that noisy pounding that was heard. No, wait. It came from her chest, nevermind.

For Laurasia:
serpent/snake - spiritual energy, knowlege, treachery, distrust,
an enemy nearby
house - comfort, home, shelter, success, family
number 1 - represents span of time.... 1 week, month, etc.
Laurasia looked up when the professor listed the possible meanings for the symbols that she saw. She quickly wrote them down in her notes. "So many possibilites," she thought. "Perhaps it means that I will gain more knowledge & become more comfortable here at school over the next term?" she asked no one in particular.

"The male symbol is a circle with an arrow, while the female symbol is a circle with a cross or plus sign. Even if the triangle was a bit tilted, it was still pointing upward which is a good sign. If it was the symbol for man, it represents creativity or you could have a visitor come to see you." |

The only other observation I could suggest would be that you will shortly have some kind of success, possibly concerning your education as you pointed out with gaining more knowlege. But it could also be a message to say Hogwarts is a place of comfort and shelter for you, even if there may be an enemy nearby. You know, that is actually what you say about becoming more comfortable here. Hogwarts is truly a safe haven to us all!" |

Blushing at the things the crystal orb told. She smiled seeing that Professor Kotkin had blushed while saying it she thought of all of her friends. Smiling she wrote this down and continued to gaze into her orb.

"Yes, then sorry, it was the male symbol," Nadia said, a little out of herself. "Though it was pointing to the left, not the right. Like, mirroring the symbol." Maybe she was looking too much into this, but then again it was better than looking it by the bad side of things.
It didn't escaped Nadia notice that the male symbol was also the symbol of Mars, which represented war. So. Another bad news. Why didn't she just shut it while there was any time. Sighing defeatedly, she looked up and wrote down, 'creativity and surprise visitor'.

Patrick looked around the room, he felt completely lost in this class. He had about much inner eye as dragon. He checked his pocketwatch and took note it now indicated he was going to have to rush finishing his homework. He hated the watch. His parents had brought for him in Diagon Alley. It was magical and it seemed to Patrick it's only job was to remind him to do his homework. He shoved it back into his pocket and tried to focus on the class.

Laurasia beamed at Professor Kotkin. "Well, I certainly hope that I have a great achievement sometime soon." She beamed with pride having seemingly interpretted the signs correctly. "I have to agree with you that Hogwarts is just as safe as anywhere else that I could be. I have no clue what sort of 'enemy' I could have nearby though."

| "Nadia, because you saw the scorpion as well, you must promise me that you will be careful. This visitor you may receive could try to hurt you somehow. Maybe this person will try and come between you and someone you care about. If you are watchful and stand strong, you could be awarded with a victory in the matter. Just please, do take care." Professor Kotkin hoped she would take her words seriously. |

Professor Kotkin hoped she would take her words seriously. Nadia shuddered. Just as she was going to the previous blissful indifference... Wasn't any chance this was just a misunderstanding? Any chance this was April's Fools day at Britain and she didn't know? A visitor... she couldnt' really think that it was coming after her, she wasn't that especial...
She sighed, only alerted again by the warning from professor. She tried not to show as she watched the professor move away, but her hands felt sweaty and she felt this ridiculous urge to fidget with her robes sleeve.
In other circumstances, drat, she would have shrugged it off, being whoever and whatever, but why was the professor saying it with such seriousness? That had to be the most worrying thing. And the fact that she was the one to see the Grim, not her. And therefore that one part couldn't be a wrong interpretation on her part... Professor Kotkin couldn't be that wrong, sinec it was obvious she knew her subject.
Nadia sighed and watched as the professor went from one to the other. In a way, she was hopeful to find that the professor would give them bad news like with her and she could deem the professor was being melodramatical. She silently watched around... maybe taking this subject was not such a clever thing...

Olivia blushed a bright red, just like a strawberry. Oh my...new feelings for someone? This was a bit frightening in her opinion. She didn't think she loved someone at the moment...she was so wrapped up in her studies and friends at school that she hadn't considered romance. Not in any way had she even thought about it since term started, really.
This statement from Professor Kotkin scared her a bit. Could she have feelings for someone and not know it? How could she not know? This left her puzzled and red in the face...
"Oh, well um...wow...that's really something!" She said not sounding like herself at all. Her voice was much too high and falsely cheerful. She clapped her hands together as in celebration. "Well, I guess it's not bad news! At least I'm not gonna die anytime soon!" Olivia proclaimed trying to sound optimistic. She managed to giggle nervously then look back into the crystal ball's contents to see if maybe, just maybe she hadn't really seen those things...though she doubted crystal balls lied.

Kristal looked into her orb once again and then asked the professor, "I think this is a rose or maybe a tulip. Doesn't that have something to do with..." but broke off, not being able to remember. She looked up at the professor, hoping that she didnt see anything bad.

After her first visions Heshasa who was still blushing gazed into her orb again. Emptying her mind and concentrating on the mist in the orb. Gazing into the depths, there they came again the visions of the future, a silver animal something like a patrounus only more solid. The vison slowly becoming clearer and clearer she saw it was a tiger, it looked rather calm and kind like an oversized kitten. Below it there was another animal one with bright sliver eyes, when it came into focus Heshasa saw it was a snow white wolf, oddly enough it was snarling. Inbetween them she saw it almost right after the yin-yang sign. Thinking it could be a balance between good and evil she stared questioniglly at professor Kotkin once more she waited to hear her fate once more.

Patrick sat in front of his orb and all he saw fog. He tried but had little luck in unfurling the fog into any type of image he could actually name. Once he thought saw a wisp of the fog form into a broom, perhaps that meant quidditch would be coming back. Patrick had heard a few rumors but nothing solid from any of the teachers, especially Prewitt. He turned his attention back to the orb.

She thought that she was falling asleep, suddenly she saw a .... star? It looks like a star but it's all puffy. Then she saw a crecent moon. "Oh, I saw something", she said excitedly, breaking her focus. She quickly writes it on her parchment then she tries agian. "Finally something that I may be good at."

If you truly think it is a bat, then you are clearly receiving a warning. Now a storm could mean a disturbance of some kind.
