Rem's hand shot up and she yanked the offensive object from her hair. looking down she saw it was a poorly made airplane note. She opened and read the question looking around she saw the boy from the platform grinning at her. she only folded the paper and placed it in her bag.

| Kali raised her hand and answered, "Besides Palmistry, I enjoy Ceromancy. You melt wax in a brass bowl. Then you pour the wax into cold water. You try to find the shapes formed by the wax." |

Nadia raised her hand, "I have a couple of favorites. Automatic writing for example, where much like the ancient oracle, an entity from another realm brings messages through by using a writing implement - any means of communicating through the written word would do -, and this happen while you are on a trance state which is when this entity uses your body for the task; much alike sumoning or invocation of gods and spirits. It isn't poetry of images like dream interpretation / divination but is possibly as efficient.
"A sign to know your Auto-writing is working is when person does not recognize their own handwriting. Sometimes the messages come in foreign languages. Often spaces are not made between words, there is no punctuation, or a picture or symbol is part of the writing.
"Another such things that are described in my Divination book are the following; that the most important thing is to let all information flow without stopping to think about what one is writing. That some automatic writers know who is giving the messages while other do not. As well as many security meassures. For example..."
She enumerated wit her fingers as she went, "If the wizard feels like something it amiss s/he should immediately stop. If they feel the least bit uncomfortable with the entity or the information received. If they feel that more than one entity is trying to write through them, they need to ask them to take turns and take their time - not that it always works. It's always asked for security to get a name and test to see if your information is correct before staying too much with one entity. You could use a pendulum or answer stones for this. An extra meassure for protection is to always surround yourself with a white light of protection and clarify that only positive spirits can use you to write any messages."
Now, that any of those measures actually worked, that was another thing entirely...

Emily had finally thought of her favorite kind of divination she shot up her hand to answer the question.
"I think my favorite is crystal ball reading or even tea leaves they are both difficult but they can be intriging"
once finished she sank back in ehr chair because she had said something no one else did and she felt embarassed.

Calli watched the shower of paper planes as she thought about the question. I guess my favorite would be astrology, because I have always been fasinated with the stars and the way they move.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Elijah Wilde Graduated | Farmer Carter | | Ama's Secret Lee rose his hand once more "I would have to say i am quite fond of egg divination, which include Oomancy and Oomantia. Both use eggs in their study of the future, wether it is to examine the egg itself or wether it was to use an egg. However i enjoy these forms because they are unusual, unique and rather quite amusing. I know it wouldn't have been my first choice of reliance on what the future holds, i am a big fan of Astrology though but a few people had said that before," Lee answered smartly.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Adz | Adz thought carefully. She hadn't been taught much divination, but she had tried some fortune telling before.
"Fortune-telling, which going into more detail is the practice of predicting the future, usually of an individual, through seemingly mystical or supernatural means. Muggles often say they can do this for commercial gain. Common methods used of fortune telling include astrology, tarot card reading (cartomancy), crystallomancy (reading of a crystal ball), and cheiromancy (palm reading). Various forms of fortune-telling appear throughout the world. Typical topics that fortune-tellers make predictions on include future romantic, financial, and childbearing prospects." Adz hesitated then added "It is one aspect of the magical universe that muggles are aware of, and use for their benefit, although many do not understand it, and do not treat it with respect. |

Sara thought for a moment then raised her hand quietly. "I would have to say that Tea-Leaf Reading is my favorite form of Divination. I say that because you get to drink the tea first, she said giggling, but also because you have to look closely and observe the intricate shapes and pictures that are not normally seen to the clouded eye. Then you have to put what the picture or shape means in Divination words.", Sara beamed at her courage of actually raising her hand and answering a question.
Divination is becoming quite awesome for not only did she like this kind of stuff she also liked Arithmancy which ties in with Divination. She smiled at that.

| Professor Kotkin was impressed with some of the students' knowlege of obscure forms of Divination. She knew their last professor had been a ministry official, but before that, they had an excellent professor, Marcella Riddle. It seems she had taught them well. She waved her wand over the board and said... "That's very good class. Now today, I want to talk more about... Crystal Divination Crystal-gazing involves peering into a misty orb with the belief that relaxation and patience will provide the Seer with a window into the future. The word 'Crystal' comes from the Greek word krystallos from krysos meaning 'icy cold'. It was believed that crystals were made from ice that was so cold that they would never melt. Greeks also believed that all quartz crystals were pieces of the archetypal 'crytal of truth'. Can anyone tell me where this 'crytal of truth' came from?" |

Nadia raised her hand, "It's a crystal of 'Optical Calcite', also known as 'Iceland Spar'. It has this weird property (the technical term is 'birefringence') of giving two copies of whatever is behind it. If you put it on top of the encoded text in the right orientation and look at it with one eye, it serves as a code-decoder."

| Professor Kotkin was surprised no one had the answer. "It was believed by the Greeks that Hercules dropped the 'crystal of truth' from Mount Olympus, the home of the gods. Polished crystal spheres are used in divination because it is said that they will never lie." "Now, not all seers or diviners use crystal spheres. There are many colors attributed to crystals, and some are also known for their energies. Crystals have even been said to come under the rule of planets and stars. Plato, the Greek philosopher, even said that these crystals or gemstones were converted from decaying material from the stars and planets. The Chaldeans as well, studied the stars and planets and linked them to crystals that they felt reflected their energies or characteristics. What I would like you to do now is to take turns, one answer each, naming one crystal that represents one of the 11 planets in our solar system. Also, please give us the characteristic of the crystal." |

Nadia looked around and since nobody was giving it a try, raised her hand again, "The word crystal is taken from the Greek “crystallos” meaning frozen water. Legend
has it that Hercules dropped the crystal of truth over Mount Olympus... but that's as much as I know."

| "For example: The sun is associated with the clear quartz crystal, though it has been associated with the diamond as well. The color is sparkling white and the crystal represents pure energy. It is the crystal of action, individuality and potential."
