Charlie had just walked into the office and sat down when a girl came in selling Quidditch World Cup tickets. He personally loved Quidditch. "I'll take one please. Just let me get the money." Charlie grab some coins from his pocket and pulled our 5 galleons. "Here you go. This should be sufficient." Charlie flashed the girl a big smile.

"Um... not exactly. I'm not the biggest Quidditch fan. I'll most likely attend though. Thanks," she said, takiing the money from his hand. She handed him one of the tickets.


Briony flushed red at the sight of his grin. "Thank you," she replied, taking the money from his hand and handing him one of the tickets.

Charlie smirked as he noticed the blush creep across her face. "No, thank you," he said in a flirty tone as he took theticket from her. He was such a flirt. "Maybe I'll see you at the match. Or maybe I'll see you before then." He let his most flirtatious grin creep across his face.

"Oh that's quite alright said Oliver, it will be a thrill no matter who is playing. No problem at all, good luck selling the rest of the tickets. I'm glad I got mine early, I bet they go fast" Oliver said with a laugh.

"I suppose," Briony replied, giving him a smile. "I'll probably be back here soon. We might run into each other. I am very very busy person," she declared. She gave him a wave and proceeded to asking other people in this department.


"They do go fast. Or so the other Liason's say. Thanks again," Briony smiled, and she turned to walk the other way, up to more employees desks.

Oliver looked at his Quidditch World Cup ticket with satisfaction. "Best five galleons I ever spent", he said to himself. He than put the ticket in his desk drawer, and returned to work. "Wow these OWL scores are much higher than when I was in school" he chuckled.

Charlie grinned at her. He returned the wave and then turned back to his desk. Work was going to be great today. He just knew it.

What was wrong with Briony grinning like an idiot at the man? She urged herself not to distract herself. Still, he was quite handsome. Hopefully they would hit off great. She had good impression of him for now. She had never had a boyfriend which was quite sad for someone being as old as she was. Oh well. All in good time. She brushed the hair that always fell in her face away. Briony took a seat in a nearby chair to record the tickets she had sold.

Luce raised her head when someone entered in the office. Oh... Quidditch Cup. A few mothns ago, she would have probably refused to go, even if she was invited. Now... Why not?
She stood up like her fellow co-worker and asked for a ticket. Accioing her purse, the took the five galleons and handed them over to the woman.
"I'd like to get one, please." she was soo not used to those type of situations. It was slightly uncomfortable. But the woman was not paying her any attention.. she follow her eyes and realized she was probably busy fangirling over her co-worker. A chuckle followed that thought.
"He's rather handsome, don't you think, Miss..?" she asked with a little shine in her eyes. Oh Merlin! I promised myself I would not be a matchmaker like Eva!
Since when grown ups had 17 year old girls as a role model? Right, Never!

"Oh, of course," Briony replied, shaking her head and handing her a ticket as the money was exchanged. "I have to admit, he is," she smiled a little. "And may I ask who you are?"

Charlie noticed the girl look his way again. He looked over as she went to talk to one of his co-workers. He chuckled lightly to himself and went back to his work.

Oliver had been looking at test scores for three hours. It was time for a break. He got up, and decided to see what other people were up too.

Though a little surprised how the question had been asked, Lucy replied introdducing herself:
"Lucy Stedman. Work side by side with Charlie her ein exams authority. Yourself?" it was a polite question and completely not personal, even though Luce had been trying to improvise her communications skills... knowing she would need them soon.

Briony laughed at the way Lucy replied. "I am so sorry Ms. Stedman. I always seem to surprise people with the way I ask them who they are. I'm Briony Whitehall," she straightened. "The new Liason of this Department. Please, excuse me for my laughing. I hope you weren't offended by it. I've just seen the expression on your face so many times already. It's nice to meet you Lucy. I'm looking forward to working with, well by, you."

Oliver noticed two woman talking in the corner of the room, he decided he should go over, and introduce himself. "Hello" turning to the two of them. "I'm Oliver, I just started working here."

Lucy shook her head in an amused disapproval.
"There's no need to apologize, Ms. Whitehall." she replied, chosing the same way of formal treatment that the new liasonof their department had used. "Nice to meet you as well. I have to say, though, that I envy your job." she continued. "It will be my pleasure to work with you."

The woman turned to see who had interrupted.
"Hello. Welcome then, Oliver. My name is Lucy Stedman and I work in this division. And I just met Ms. Briony Whitehall, the liason for the dpeartment." she waited for Briony's reaction and for her interaction with the new worker. "If you have any questions, any doubt or just feels curious about something, feel free to come by my desk..." she pointed at her desk, well-centered in the office, jsut a few metters away "... or you can visit Ms. Amerie or Mr. Rider's office." she added, making sure that Oliver would feel good when facing the idea to start working there.

"Oh hello Lucy, nice to meet you" said Oliver shaking her hand. "Hello Briony, it's nice to meet you as well." also shaking her hand. "Thank you very much, is there anything you need me to take care of for you, it be happy to do it." said Oliver.

"Please," she assured. "I would really like to make us feel on the same level with each other. I would rather us not feel envious toward each other. It ruins relationships. And I would like to be friends with you. You have to understand I'm all new to this," she gestured around her. "I've never had a friend, unless of course you count all of the books I read during Hogwarts. So I don't actually know how to approach workers my age. I'm used to talking with adults." Briony needed people to know that. She was trying hard and she was dying to make sure she got along with these people.

"Hello again Oliver," she smiled. "I sold you the quidditch tickets remember?"

Lucy shook Oliver's hand with a promise she would talk to him if she felt in need.
"It's a deal." she assured the man. Then, she turned back at Briony and she just couldn't avoid it.
She just had to laugh, because that speech, those words, that kind of life... it was soo similar to hers that you could shock her.
"I'm sorry. it's just that... I know what it's like. I mean, i read a lot of books and I don't have many friends. I..." a little more serious, she realized she could talk about her life without feeling scared of afraid. "... I traveled a lot after Hogwarts, not for the bets reasons and I tried to have as little friends as possible." she had always had Nick, who care about her but was also as independent as she was. That was probably the reaosn they had alwaysunderstood each other and had respected each other's space. "Never had a female friend, though." she added with a chuckle.. she was already picturing Nicholas Finche's reactions when she got home.

Adults? She looked at the young woman and she had to ask.
"How old do you think I am?" Yes, that was amusing. And it felt good to get along with her co-workers. So, the break up was good after all, she couldn't help her sadness on that matter. But she was starting to feel more... resigned. She had accepted it.

"Oh, no I didn't mean---," Briony started. "I meant like teachers at Hogwarts. Not people close to my age," she explained quickly. "I promise I was not trying to offend you. You did ask though, so I'm going to say 24?" she questioned. She herself was only 21.

Lucy couldn't help it again. She laughed.
"I'm sorry. It's not offensive, it's actually quite flattering. No. At 24 I was still... away. I'm actually 29." she explained. Now, making the math, she was working in the ministry in that department for four years already, which made her the oldest employee there. Before, she still had Samantha and J.J. Starr. In the present time, she and Jake were the only ones there who had seen the department changing. Good.
"And you must be quite young yourself... Though you graduated few years ago. Am I right?" she aske,d taking a very wild guess.

"Yep," Briony nodded. "I'm 21. The past years I've been helping my parents invent new potions. Oh, and I was in the U.S. for two years with my cousin Thalia. She's starting Hogwarts this year and is freaking out. All she does is comment on it. Everyday," Briony rolled her eyes about her annoying cousin. "I worked in a muggle bookshop there and finally decided to return to England and apply for a job at the Ministry. Here I am," she added. No one understood why she lived as a muggle for all of those years.

Hearing that from Briony's mouth was stunning, because it was similar to her story in many ways.
"I understand that. A few years ago, when I retuned home I met my goddaughter. Back then she was 14, already attenting Hogwarts. All I can say is that I was not ready for that..." she commented. And now she had another 14 year old to take care of. But Ryan is different. I think Eva gave me all the teaching I needed to know to not make mistakes this time, she concluded. "Eva is graduating this year; otherwise she and your cousin could meet." she pointed out. She enjoyed the silence for a while before speaking again, slowly:
"Wise decision. This department has made a lot for many people." she could say that. It had been good for her, for Jake, for Rachel and apparently also for J.J. Starr., who she had just heard of.

"That's really cool," Briony nodded. "You have a goddaughter? I don't even have a niece yet, tough my parents have been pushing my brother on for grandkids." She laughed. Her brother.... He live in the U.S. "So, what house were you in?" she asked.

Lucy nodded. Yes, she had grown to love Eva a lot, especially since she had lived at Eva and Chloe Longwood's house. There, she had seen how a bad communication could torn a fmaily appart. Plus, she was the only person Luce allowed to give her advices.
"It's surprising. I came back alone, decided to have a fresh start after a few years of... tough times and I didn't expect to be aceepted and to be so well received." she paused. Briony was probably not understanding that. "My older sister... she was older than me and Chloe was her best friend. After her death, Chloe and I became close and that's how I turned out to be Eva's godmother." but then she had gotten married and later on she had had to run away.

"Parents! Mine are half resigned, half full of hope. They say they preffer to wait and see 'what life might bring', though I have warned them it's not likely they'll... take care of children in a near by future." she said. Her parents had learned that not always marriage was the best decision.
