More often than not, however, she is transcribing, sketching, or translating magical symbols into her own carefully curated notes. To Iris, knowledge is not simply something to acquire, but something to structure — patterns to be identified, systems to be understood, and, when necessary, reconstructed.
Her greatest academic passion lies in ancient magic, particularly where it intersects with cursework and magical theory. She aspires to become a cursebreaker, though her focus diverges from tradition: rather than objects, Iris is drawn to the complexities of curses placed upon people. This inclination is deeply tied to both her natural aptitude in Defense Against the Dark Arts and her fascination with the functional mechanics of Dark magic — how it operates, how it binds, and, most importantly, how it can be undone. While she approaches Dark magic with intellectual curiosity, she has little interest in Dark creatures themselves, favoring systems over spectacle.
Beneath her composure, however, Iris is someone who relies heavily on logic as a means of control. She instinctively translates emotional experiences into something something she can define, categorize, and therefore manage. This tendency becomes particularly significant in light of her magical ability: Clairgustance, a rare form of Seer magic that allows her to taste emotions and memories tied to intense personal experiences and a part of herself she keeps hidden from others. While this ability offers profound insight into others, deepening her empathy in ways few can replicate, it also strips her of distance. Sensations are immediate, invasive, and not always within her control, forcing Iris into a constant negotiation between understanding and overwhelm.
This lack of agency is central to both her strength and her vulnerability. Iris is not easily shaken outwardly, but internally she is acutely aware of the limitations her ability imposes... particularly in moments of emotional proximity, where connection and consequence become difficult to separate. As a result, she is careful with closeness, deliberate in her choices, and often slower to act on instinct than she might otherwise wish to be.
Her deepest fears are reflected in her boggart: the lingering trauma of her father’s possession by Dark forces. The experience of helping to free him alongside her mother and twin brother, all wielding their Seer abilities, remains a defining moment in her life. It is both the origin of her resolve and a reminder of what can happen when magic overtakes control.

Daciana Esme is a hoarder of small objects and likes being handy with them, often collecting broken or forgotten things and either fixing them or turning them into something entirely new (most often wind chimes or jewelry). Because she has so many interests and projects at once, she is occasionally scattered, so it’s not uncommon for her to start five activities and only finish two or three, or to lose track of time entirely. Coming from her maternal family of pranksters, she has a silly sense of humor but prefers clever pranks over anything cruel or humiliating. Because she has trained in elemental magic since childhood from her dad, Andrei, Dacie learned she identifies strongly with air as an element and loves movement and height. She can spend hours on swings, climbing trees to sit at the very top, doing cartwheels, cycling, or flying whenever she gets the chance. She’s also an only child, which makes her independent and she likes getting people on board with her plans. I think her biggest flaw would be the belief that she should be able to figure things out on her own. Like, her friends and parents can help her out with the execution, but the idea has to be originally hers. Also, her mum Vivi was always hesitant about sending Dacie to Hogwarts due to traumaTM, so Dacie prepared a full Powerpoint-esque presentation (with help from her best friend, Gabriel) to convince Vivi, and it worked.
Dacie’s personality is kind of like a softened blend of her parents. Think Vivi’s extroversion and spontaneity tempered by Andrei’s introversion and structure. From Andrei, who works as a Beast Division Head in the Ministry of Magic, she inherited a deep love for creatures and a strong instinct to protect the vulnerable, especially because she grew up with a rescued English mastiff. She is a creative girlie, and one of her favorite childhood memories is dressing up in costumes with Andrei. On the other hand, from Vivi, she has absorbed far more historical knowledge than she likes to admit due to Vivi’s work as a curse breaker, and she finds “do not touch” signs in museums and displays incredibly tempting. Although she is largely a kinesthetic learner, not wanting to stay still if possible, Dacie’s exception to this is she can sit for long stretches when engaged with puzzles, mystery games, or enchanted mechanisms. She also prefers to be outdoors where she can at least get her hands dirty, both literally and figuratively. Also, because both her parents were former student leaders, she has a general respect for authority and understands the value of rules, but the mischief inherited from the Fairfield side sometimes takes over so she isn’t a blind rule-follower and often prefers getting her own way if authority (unjustly) clashes with her. Her parents are openly emotional and affectionate, especially with Dacie being their only baby, and while she occasionally jokes she’s had enough of it sometimes, she doesn’t truly mind the intensity of her parents’ love for her. At least not yet. Whether that will remain true as she gets older is an open question.
She is multilingual, and speaks English, Spanish, and Romanian, and is interested in learning other magical languages. Music is a constant presence in her life, with Vivi playing piano and guitar and Andrei playing the flute. She has a notable sweet tooth. When your mother loves marshmallows, and your father bakes, it just makes sense.

Being quiet in the Bronwyn family has never quite meant being invisible. Bridie was born the third child of Rooney and Farrah Bronwyn, but the first daughter, a distinction she became aware of surprisingly early. Growing up in a household filled with performers, musicians, siblings and very large personalities taught Bridie how to observe before she spoke. Her father made his name on the West End, her mother with the London Symphony Orchestra, and creativity was never something the Bronwyn children had to go looking for. It was simply part of home.
Bridie inherited that artistic streak, though not necessarily the need to perform it for an audience. She has always been more interested in understanding things than being applauded for them. Curious almost to the point of nosiness, she collects information simply because she likes knowing it and has a habit of disappearing into books, hobbies and questions until somebody reminds her that the rest of the world still exists.
Growing up behind older brothers also gave Bridie a stubborn desire to be regarded as herself rather than someone's little sister. She loves her family fiercely, but comparisons, even flattering ones, tend to get under her skin. Being the eldest daughter has only strengthened the strange combination of independence and responsibility that follows her around. Bridie rarely wants anyone worrying about her and will insist that she has something handled long after accepting help would have made everything easier.
When the Sorting Hat placed her in Ravenclaw, it felt less like a revelation and more like someone finally putting a name to something that had always been there. Bridie isn't the sort of Ravenclaw who needs to have every answer. She simply cannot resist another question. She is observant, imaginative and particular, happiest when something gives her mind a problem to turn over.
Now in her third year, Bridie is beginning to settle into the person she might become outside the orbit of her family. She is still young enough to change her mind about practically everything — and stubborn enough to insist that whatever she believes today has surely been thoroughly researched.
