Iris Harden is a poised, intellectually driven young witch whose confidence is rooted less in bravado and more in precision. Outgoing in the sense that she engages readily and thoughtfully with others, she carries herself with a composed clarity that often gives the impression she is several steps ahead — observing, analyzing, and quietly organizing the world around her into something understandable.

An insatiable learner, Iris is rarely seen without a book or notebook in hand. Her interests span from dense tomes on Ancient Runes (some nearly as heavy as she is) to niche literary fascinations and the occasional indulgence in romantic fiction. More often than not, however, she is transcribing, sketching, or translating magical symbols into her own carefully curated notes. To Iris, knowledge is not simply something to acquire, but something to structure — patterns to be identified, systems to be understood, and, when necessary, reconstructed.

Her greatest academic passion lies in ancient magic, particularly where it intersects with cursework and magical theory. She aspires to become a cursebreaker, though her focus diverges from tradition: rather than objects, Iris is drawn to the complexities of curses placed upon people. This inclination is deeply tied to both her natural aptitude in Defense Against the Dark Arts and her fascination with the functional mechanics of Dark magic — how it operates, how it binds, and, most importantly, how it can be undone. She instinctively translates emotional experiences into something something she can define, categorize, and therefore manage. This tendency becomes particularly significant in light of her magical ability: Clairgustance, a rare form of Seer magic that allows her to taste emotions and memories tied to intense personal experiences and a part of herself she keeps hidden from others. While this ability offers profound insight into others, deepening her empathy in ways few can replicate, it also strips her of distance. Sensations are immediate, invasive, and not always within her control, forcing Iris into a constant negotiation between understanding and overwhelm.

This lack of agency is central to both her strength and her vulnerability. Iris is not easily shaken outwardly, but internally she is acutely aware of the limitations her ability imposes... particularly in moments of emotional proximity, where connection and consequence become difficult to separate.
