Ravenswood Manor

Adrianna Charday’s life has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. When it all becomes too much, she slips away from her home in the middle of the night, as she has done many times before. Only this time, it’s for good. She goes to the beautiful wildlife preserve that a close family friend owns. Ravenswood. The ideal place to go if you need some alone time. But no one knows what’s really going through the raven-haired teenager’s depressed mind. She was slowly losing herself in self-pity, depression.
Her best friend since she was an infant, Cassandriana Brant, visits daily, but can never find the girl she once knew as her friend inside the shell of a person she finds everyday.
But if you do find old Adrianna, she will gladly welcome you into the humongous manor house that she now calls home. There are eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a large den with a fireplace and mantle, two kitchens, and a sunroom throughout the house. Two wolves, Dreamer and Stormbringer stay in the den by the fireplace during the winter, but during the warmer months, they are either running around the preserve, or lying by Adrianna. There is a very large library on the top floor, where Ad spends most of her time. A sign on the gates leading to the preserve says:
Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve
Take only photos and leave only footprints.
Please don’t feed the animals, and stay on the paths.
Garbage in, garbage out policy.
$200 fine for littering.
Open from dawn till dusk.

Tours there were very popular. But now, in the winter months, not even her fellow guides could break the icy barrier that wrapped itself around Adrianna’s heart. She didn’t punch anyone who called her “Addy” anymore.

Justin held his hand out offering it to Ad. "So once you've started writing, keep writing. Either that or just walk out of the room because losing it in front of everyone isn't gonna help. Look what just happened... I don't see any other alternatives" he replied.

Justin pulled Ad a little closer. "If I could suggest anything else I would but..." he replied. He glanced down at the floor then back up again. Maybe he should take his own advice. If he couldn't tell people straight out what he was thinking, he needed to write it in a song.

Justin wandered into the living room quietly holding his guitar and a book full of lots of different songs, all with very similar concepts. Some were regarding his feelings for Ad, others his feeling toward his family. But mostly his feelings toward life. Life was his biggest inspiration, and himself was his biggest critic. He sat down on the sofa putting the book on the table and setting his guitar as if he was going to started playing. But he couldn't, it needed retuning. He hadn't used his guitar in months so it was likely to have lost it's tune over the months as they passed by without his guitar having so much as a glimpse of life.

Ad's eyelids fluttered open and she leaned onto her elbow, looking over at Justin's side of the bed. Empty. She sighed and laid back down. He was probably downstairs with the guitar. Snuggling under the blankets, she thought about the past month.

She was pregnant. With twins. Twins. It was slightly overwhelming. She had been way too emotional. She felt way too bloated. No, she felt fat. And she didn't like it. Not one bit.

The only comfort she had when she was really emotional was Justin telling her she was beautiful no matter what. It provided her with comfort that she couldn't have gotten from anyone else.

Ad pulled the blankets over her head and tried to sleep, but sleep just wouldn't come to her.

If that was even possible.

Great! Now he couldn't concentrate. A smiled sneaked up onto his face at the thought of being a dad. A dad! HIM! Excited wasn't even going to begin to explain how he was feeling right then. "Concentrate, Justin" he told himself. If he didn't manage to concentrate he was going to slap himself silly. And that wasn't going to solve anything.

He sighed standing up. He walked into the kitchen and made himself and Ad a drink. Maybe that would help him. Or maybe it would just give him so much energy that it would be virtually IMPOSSIBLE to concentrate. He picked up the two drinks and walked upstairs to the bedroom. "Morning!" he said poking his head round the door.

A smile washed over Justin's face again. "I'm never gonna wrap my head around this" he responded.

He looked down at their hands again. "I haven't been able to concentrate since I found out you're carrying our kids... That's how stoked I am"

Justin groaned. At least he still had time to prepare himself for it. But how could anybody be really prepared for being a parent. And having twins was twice as difficult. He could imagine how hectic it was going to be juggling work, Ad AND two children. "I really hope they're not identical" he admitted.

He sighed taking a sip of his coffee. "I don't get it. My inspiration is those two and yet I still haven't even got one lyric let alone a verse"

Justin smiled up at Ad once again. But even if they were identical twins, he wouldn't mind. He'd just have a hard time telling them apart. Unless there was a difference between them. But this was something different. He looked at her, slight concern in his eyes. "Any first time mum would be scared..." he answered. Not a good enough mother? Where did that come from? "Anyone who's seen you with Kai and Cassie would agree with me when I say you're gonna be an amazing mother" he replied taking hold of her hand.

Ad set her cup on the set of drawers next to Justin's and wiped her eyes. "But...I just...I feel like since I never knew what it was like to truly be loved by my own mum, since I never knew her...that I won't be able to love them" her voice was a hushed whisper.
