*Feeling forsaked she looked into the mirror and cried out loudly. "Why do everybody ignore me!" she thought* |
Kristi watched as Marcella edged her way in and sat down. She felt rather silly now just standing there. "I was just going to check on you," she said. "Where's Darrin? He didn't come with you?" |
"Darrin has better things to do." she mused rather unhappily, remembering his unwanted declaration and venture to suggest he had to hurt her. Turning to Kristi and knowing she had to address Archie too, she asked, "What were you guys doing?" |
Archie looked at Kristi then his eyes rested for a second on marcella then out at the window. |
Kristi looked at Marcella, "We were just discussing Snape's appeal and Archie's research." It wasn't the whole truth, but maybe Marcella would buy it. |
Marce muttered an indifferent "Oh," in reply and possibly her eyes lingered on Archie too long as she mumbled this, her mind knowing all too well what she had heard and maybe giving him the indication that she knew. But why would he say it to Kristi and not her? They were meant to be closer and yet he confided in her. That hurt. |
Archie thought of taking Marcella and admiting to her his feelings but something deep inside him told him "no! she's got too much to worry about rather than deciding between you and snape". |
Picking up on the conflict in Archie's mind, but deciding it were rude to read him, she paused and stopped herself before she started. The pressure taking over her, feeling as though she were about to suffocate, she stood and breathed deeply, "I've got to leave, sorry." She slid open the shutter and stood directly outside, head leant against the wall, taking deep shuddering breaths. |
Kristi felt the tension building in the compartment and shifted in her seat as it seemed like the air was being sucked out of the room. Marcella and Archie got up and left, leaving Kristi alone in the compartment. |
Archie got up and walked outside and stood opposite her in the corridor "hey marce you ok?"He asked . |
"Not in there I wasn't. I thought I was going to die of breathlessness." she joked, stiffling a small giggle, refraining from looking the concerned boy in the eyes. |
"ok just take deep breaths "Archie said "feeling better?" |
Laughing a little harder, she narrowed her eyes at him, surveying his stance, "It's not that Arch and you know it." She took a hand to her chest and loosened the buttons on her shirt, cooling her sweating head and allowing her to breath more freely. |
Sneaking past Marcella and Archie, unnoticed, Kristi made her way back to the compartment she and Marcella had shared earlier that day. Seeing the door slightly ajar, she opened it to find Darrin staring out the window. Kristi didn't ask permission to come in but, just sat down opposite him. She crossed her legs and stared at the guy, trying to figure him out. Why had Snape flown off the handle and cursed him? What threat did he pose, other than being competition? |
Archie raised his eyebrows at this "what do you mean ?"Archie said even though he could some how tell that she some how knew. |
"And why do you wish to share a compartment with me?" he mused, leaving his chin rested in his hand, staring out of the window rather whimsically. |
"I'm secretly in love with you," Kristi said, sarcastically. "I just thought I'd come in and see what you were up to. Marcella always seems a little upset after you've been alone together. As a friend of Marcella's, I'm just curious as to why that may be." |
"I heard what you said alright. What you told Kristi." she said, placing emphasis on the fact he told Kristi and not her. Exasperated, she made to walk away but knew he'd either grab her or follow close behind. |
"She's a very troubled girl. I try to help her, make her talk about how and what she feels. Maybe that makes her emotionally vulnerable afterwards, but that's not my fault." he spoke, rather defensively, despising the suggestion that he would upset her from his heart. |
Kristi was taken aback by this response. He seemed sincere enough and Kristi began to wonder why she had suspected him of hurting Marcella in the first place. It was like there was something tugging at the back of her mind... Some memory of something Marcella had shown her back in Grimmauld Place. But, perhaps it was only her imagination. "So, she's really opening up to you?" she asked, looking out the window now. "Well, that's good. She has a lot on her mind right now and she needs to tell someone about it all. I guess she feels she can trust you where you were friends at Durmstrang." |
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you ,it's just you don't need me prancing around like a blithering idiot ,I onlyI only told Kristi because when she asked me I only just realised myself" Archie said trying to explain desperatly. |
"She doesn't do it willingly, but she does recognise it's for her own good." he added, facing the girl, clasping his hands together and placing them on the table. "I still feel for her greatly." he said, a sad look almost appearing in his eyes. Turning to face Archie, she decided to be honest with him, "I would've prefered it if you had told me, rather than her. Because, I guess I just want you to be honest with me. You're right, I cant be dealing with blitherings now, but I can deal with the truth. I have to." she said, openig the door to a compartment that were empty as it were so small. She sat inside it and left the door open for him, so that they could sit and talk. |
"So if she's not willing, then... How do you get her to talk to you?" Kristi asked, frowning as her suspicions began to grow once again. |
"I remind her of how painful it becomes when she doesn't talk. Not using myself, of course, but reminding her of things she has done to herself in the past makes her remember how tough it is, keeping things locked inside and how one tends to hurt oneself if they keep everything bottled up." |
Archie walked in and slid the door shut behind him .He sat down opposite her "I really should have told you rather than your best mate"Archie said "It's just that she asked and well..."he shrugged. |
