"Sorry, my phasing powers are out at the moment. But I know how to have a good time...sometimes." He said grinning.

Liz got up and started walking towards the school. She wanted to talk to someone other than Crystal and the rest of the 'New Bloods'. She didn't care who it was as long as it was someone. Lizzie took her hands out of her front pocket and opened the doors.

Joe looked at Crystal. "Sorry, but I am just going to go for a walk." She said as she got up from the tree.

The sun was starting to set, that put a smile on her face, just the thought. The air started to smell different to her. She closed her eyes as she walked down a path, soon enough she neared a forest. Her first thought was to go exploring- then she remembered on how the Headmaster said it was off limits. Perhaps the next day, then she would get one of the girls to come along. The idea of exploring a forrbidden forest nearing night alone didn't seem so welcoming at the moment.

So instead to took her deck of cards out of her pocket again and aimed for the tree bordering the forest.

Before Liz walked in, she turned and spotted Joe walking towards the forest, she ran towards her. When she caught up to her she was breathless but still said,"What's up?"

Ki giggled, he has a sense of humour she thought "Do you have a ton of fun here at Hogwarts?" she asked "I like to mess aroound with the regular people at home." she said glancing around Joe had disappeared.


"Where's Joe?" she whispered mostly asking herself.

"Well lets see, one of my best friends is angry at me, my card got fixed, I wish I had some useful power that would let me vent my frustration." Joe started to list things off. "All I can do is see into the crummy future, and I have a talent of throwing pieces of paper about." She tossed the cards she had in her hand extra hard. The three of them split off into different directions, all hitting a different tree. "I'm completely useless."

"Now that is were you're wrong, you aren't useless, if you were you wouldn't be here right now,"Lizzie said. She sighed and continued,"You are right about the friend thing, but seeing the future isn't useless."

"Oh c'mon Liz stop being nice." Joe threw another card at the tree, hitting it up high and out of reach. Rolling her eyes, Joe spoke. "I can't even get what I am aiming for. What good is this ever going to do me? Be able to throw a card."

"Stop acting like that,"Liz said. She was getting frustrated that her friend was putting herself down. She looked up at the card and laughed,"You know I can reach that."

"Just leave it, I'll get it later." She said throwing another card beside it. The sky was darkening quickly. That made Joe feel a bit better about all of this. Soon it would be night and she would be able to lay on the grass- looking at the stars, no one around her to bother her. "It's just, what is Reese's problem? She doesn't have to go around following people all the time."

"Yes, but you know it's a habit for her and habits are hard to break,"Liz said. She looked up at the sky and smiled. She loved watching the stars.

"I am just-" She throws a card. "So sick of everyone." And another one. "Thinking I need their help!" The last card was thrown the hardest, almost hitting a bird. Luckily both the bird, and the card was not hurt. Joe sat down on the ground and looked at the tree with dozens of cards stuck in the trunk.

"Is there anything else bothering you?"Liz asked. She knew how frustrating that could get but Joe usually didn't get like this. She sat down beside her and also looked at the cards.

"It's just everything. I keep everything bottles up..." Her voice had returned to it's normal soft tone, but it lacked it's sarcastic, smart-alek attitude. Instead it sounded much sadder. "I miss Montana, I miss being more than the people around us, I miss our lake, I miss my family. To top this all off just before we left, David broke up with me. Out of the blue."

"Wow, I miss all that too but I don't let it out like that, of course I just set myself on fire,"Lizzie added and laughed. "I can't believe he broke up with you,"she whispered. She looked at Joe and sighed,"What are we going to do?"

"He said he broke up with me cause, cause he couldn't be with someone so 'talented'" She used air quotations for the word talented. "He actually said that. Talented, he couldn't just come right out with it and say he couldn't stand being with someone is different, who's just a freak." Joe threw her last card, but it only made it a few feet away from her and Liz.

"Hey, when my sister used to call me that before I came to Montana I just ignored her, of course she never called me that after I sent her to the hospital with 1st degree burns,"Liz laughed. "If David knew what's best for him he wouldn't have broken up with you." Lizzie looked at the card that landed a few feet away and looked back at Joe.

"I would have set him on fire if I could." Honestly she spoke. Useless powers, for useless things. "Everything was going so good. He loved how I could warn him before something happened, or how my dreams came true. For the longest time he loved it. I guess the novelty ran out- or he got scared when I told him his dog was going to die."

With a thump she laid down on the grass. The stars were just starting to come out. A few started to peak out from the sheet of dark blue that covered the sky, the remaining sun shone just past the lake and the mountains.

"Maybe, or it's just that he didn't want to not be able to go out with anyone while you were here,"Liz said as she copied Joe's movements. She looked at the stars and sighed, oh how she would like to be up there among them.

Her head shook. "No, her was afraid. You could sense it on him." Joe looked among the stars, all the same, all uniform. They came together to make shapes and figures in the sky. How she wished she could just be a star like the ones up above. "I knew it was going to happen eventually. I didn't see it, but... I just knew. It always happens."

"Well if you were more like me you wouldn't go out with such jerks, no offense I don't mean anything by saying that,"Lizzie said. She looked back up at the stars and continued,"Well it doesn't always happen."

"I'm nothing like you..." Is all Joe said to that. She didn't know if she took offense to it yet, or not. Her head was jumping with thoughts, wanting to all just pour out on the grass and run away. She wish they would too. You could feel the temperature in the air start to drop slowly. Forutantly Joe still had her jacket on, and her scarf wrapped loosely around her neck. The chill the in the air just added to the joy of the night to her.

"I know, but you are more mature than me, even though I'm older than you,"Liz said laughing. Liz smiled as the temperature dropped, she loved the cold, one of the side effacts of being born in Alaska.

Joe laid there, not answering. She wasn't sure if she was to take that as a compliment at the moment. Was it good to be mature at this age? At points, she guessed. Her eyes closed as thoughts raced in and our of her mind. She asked herself if she should go back it- would they get in trouble? She answered her question and said stay.

Lizzie sighed and watched the stars. She unconsiously snapped her fingers and a flame appeared above them.
