Default ••KA: RPotW•• ->Love Knows No Rules

Background:
Since the dawn of time, there have been two species that have taken domain of the earth; those who are mortal and those who are immortal. Mortals quickly became separated into two distinct groups: those with magical abilities and those without. The mortals decided early on that separating the two would be best and the knowledge of magic quickly disappeared from the Muggle mind. While immortals could be broken several groups they decided to stay as one Clan, Clan Coventry. After much debate they decided that the best way to rule Coventry was to create the Council of Seven. Seven of the most powerful and prominent houses were chosen to serve on the Council and one would be chosen to rule as King or Queen.
The House of Gray Cloud was then established as the King Regent as they were the most powerful elementals in Coventry. As legend goes the first King Regent was a powerful man named Ambrose who fell in love with a mortal. Aradia was her name and she was a princess in her own right. Three days before their marriage she was murdered by a mortal suitor who had been spurned by Aradia. Heartbroken and furious, Ambrose swore that he would never let that hurt befall his people, so he brought into being the Cardinal Law. It states that no immortal may fall in love with a mortal, or the accused will face a lifetime of imprisonment and the poor retched soul who was the object of said love would die a most horrible death. The House of Gray Cloud has since upheld this Law and does so with an iron fist.

Plot:
Willow Austin is extremely happy that this will be the last time she has to spend the summer at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was tradition for members of the Clan to attend Oden’s Ford from the time they turn 11 till they reach 17, that’s the year they are declared an adult. Another tradition, imposed upon her race by the Lady Gaia herself, was that each child of The Clan must spend each summer until the end of school at the mortal magical school of Hogwarts. She hadn’t thought it was bad in the beginning. She found that mortal children were no different from Clan children when you took the magical abilities and immortality away. She herself was heir to the House of the Gray Cloud, one of the most powerful and prominent elemental families in all of Clan Coventry. She found that she liked her friends at Hogwarts and couldn’t understand the prejudice that other members of the Clan carried. However, her opinions had fast changed near the end of last summer.
Her best friend, a mortal wizard named Marik Grey, had decided that their friendship simply wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted to take their relationship to the next level. Furious and scared Willow refused without offering an explanation. Angry and hurt, the two fought it out and Willow left, leaving their friendship in shambles.

Marik can’t understand it. He knows there is love there. It’s in her smile and the way she moves. It’s in everything she does. Her refusal had cut him deep but he’s determined to find out what it is that’s keeping her from him. He had written to her every week for the entire year and he hadn’t gotten one letter back. It’s not going to deter him though. She can’t hide forever. She’s coming back onto his turf and he isn’t letting her go without finding out why she can’t love him.

Ash Redfern, a NightDweller or vampire as the more crude term goes, is heir to the throne of his own House. The great House of Aerie has always been at the pinnacle of society in Clan Coventry and Ash has a reputation to uphold. Over the years he has tolerated his Willow’s friendships with the mortals but this is the last year he will have to endure it. He has his eyes set on a grand alliance between their two Great Houses and nothing is going to stand in his way. That is until he meets the incorrigible Ms. Tabitha Baker, a newly transferred Hogwarts (mortal) witch that both infuriates and intrigues him.

Clan Coventry:
Clan Coventry is the society of immortals that exist in our world. There are three broad species that encompass Clan Coventry.
NightDwellers: creatures of the night that feed on the blood of animals (vampires)
Elementals: creatures of the elements, able to manipulate one element that runs in their bloodline
Shape-shifters: creatures that can alter their shape according to their bloodlines
Clan Coventry is a very large country that exists in secret, though the knowledge that they exist is gifted to those of magical decent among the mortals. Every bloodline has a house and a blooded descendant that will take over as the Head of House. Houses can either descend through the male or female side of the line, though some simply descend through either, choosing the oldest in the family line.

Okay so this is my third RP and as always there was a bit of a lengthy explanation. This plot will require two things: one, there will be three groups of people and the groups need to be as even as possible or at least even between mortals and immortals and second, there needs to be an even number of girls and boys. Everyone will be in pairs. If you and someone else wants to pair up please PM me and let me know. If you don’t find a partner I’ll partner you up with someone. If you come up with an idea for another member of Coventry that isn’t listed please PM for confirmation before posting.

Rules:

1. Be creative and make your characters believable and real. No one is perfect!
2. No God Moding!
3. Please make long posts! I can’t stand one or two liners!
4. Stay active. If you are going to be absent let me know.
5. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to PM me.
6. Have Fun!

SPOILER!!: Willow

Sasha Willow Austin

Nickname: Willow (Prefers this name)
Age: 16
DoB: June 20
PoB: Whispering Isles Province; Castle Cloud
Heritage: Heir to House Gray Cloud
Race: Immortal; Water Elemental

Parents: Father: King Regent Wayde Austin; Water Elemental
Mother: Lady Kya Bayar Austin; Shifter (falcon)
Sibling(s): Sister: Sky Bayar (14); Shifter (falcon)
Brother: Gavin Bayar (15); Shifter (Hawk)

Background: Willow was born at Castle Cloud in the Whispering Isles Province, a flourishing land located on at the southern most point of Coventry. Having shown her Elemental abilities at a young age, her father wanted to stake her claim on the Rulership. Her mother Kya Bayar, was hesitant to allow her daughter to take that path. In the entire history of Clan Coventry their have only been two other female rulers and she didn’t want that life for her little girl. However, Kya had no choice in the matter after she gave birth to two shifters. Therefore, she accepted her daughters fate and her two youngest took her maiden name as is tradition.

Willow’s father Wayde was ecstatic and began her training at an early age. On her 10th Nameday he proclaimed her Princess Heir and started her instruction. Wayde took his daughter everywhere and taught her all the ways of the Court and Council. As King, Wayde values the Law, diplomacy, and dedication to the Clan. As a father, Wayde drills into his daughter the ways of trade, combat, and of people in general. Her mother had a small hand in her teaching, as Willow must learn the ways of a proper lady.

In the eyes of the public, the Royal family is the picture of perfection, behind closed doors is a totally different story. Before she turned 10, Wayde paid all of his children equal attention and was the best father he could be. After Willow turned 10 that all changed. Wayde often had business outside of Whispering Isle and always took Willow with him. As a result, it always seemed, in the eyes of Sky and Gavin, that Willow was the favored one. Therefore, they often team up against Willow and exclude her in everything they do. Kya tries hard to keep her family at peace but there isn’t much she can do. Willow is Princess Heir which is one of the most isolated and lonely paths any Immortal could possibly take.

In his entire Rule, King Wade has had to imprison 10 Immortals for breaking the Cardinal Law. Willow has looked on with pity and dismay as the 10 were sentenced to 100 years in the Brig and the humans that they fell in love with were killed before them. Willow thus far has been the only heir that has witnessed this event, as the other families felt it was too soon to expose their children to.

Personality:
Willow is a level-headed, observant, methodical individual. Due to how she was raised she has come to rely on her instincts and her senses. She exudes power and sophistication and also wields it without pause or conscious thought. True to her heritage she has a strong sense of self control though even she has her limits. When pushed her ire knows no bounds and is swift and fierce. Willow does have a softer side, one of which few have ever witnessed. She has a great capacity for love and tenderness.

She does have a sense of humor and loves to laugh. Her friends and family mean more to her then anything in the world. To those she considers her friends; she is honest and trustworthy and exhibits a sense of humor. To her acquaintances, she is tolerant and patient and very forgiving. To all others she is indifferent and aloof. The only other thing that means as much is her freewill and her ability to choose her own path. She doesn’t get to choose her own way very often though. Willow does have a stubborn streak and can be extremely obstinate and argumentative. Beware of her temper…it takes a while for her temper to flare but when it does look out. Once her temper and anger get going there are very few people who know how to bring her back down.

Likes:

Swordplay

Dislikes:
Bugs of any kind

Other: Her greatest hope and wish is that she will become a good Ruler to her people.

SPOILER!!: Dozer
Dozer Flint

Age: 17
Year: 6
House: Slytherin
Heritage: Pure
Strongest Subject: Transfiguration, DADA
Weakest Subject: Magical Creatures
Hair: Dirty Blonde
Eyes: Brown
Height: 6’2’’
Body Build: Lean muscled, polo team build
Parents: Henry and Olivia Flint
Siblings: Cassandra Flint (6)

History: Dozer comes from a hard working wizarding family. His mother is a well known potioneer, who works freelance and is starting her own business. While his father works for the ministry as a liaison to the Irish, Bulgarian, and Muggle Ministries. Henry hopes to one day be made Minister himself and has high hopes that his son will follow in his footsteps. Dozer enjoys politics quite a bit; however he aspires of becoming the next big Quidditch Chaser. His father doesn’t quite see the allure of an athletic future and is hoping to steer his wayward son away from such endeavors. Their family travels in the highest of social circles and attends all of the high end shindigs. Little Cassandra enjoys life as the baby. The Flint family gets along well or about as well as any family gets along these days.

Personality: Dozer isn’t your typical bad boy, though for many that is all he seems to be. Reserved and quiet, for the most part, he prefers to keep a certain mysterious air to his actions and thoughts. He tends to attract many girls with his good looks and easy charm, but he aims to find someone who can keep pace with him. Dozer loves a good challenge and is always looking for his next big project. Quidditch is a big deal in his life and that won’t change any time soon. While he projects that he doesn’t really care about anything or anyone, if you mess with his friends things will get ugly. Dozer doesn’t get jealous (at least he won’t admit it) and he does have a bit of a temper, when you burn down his exceptionally long fuse.

Anyone else that Auzzie-Ry would normally chat with seemed to be either already off to bed or getting up to do so, which really is upsetting news when a girl is in such an awake and enthusiastic mood as she. Technically there was Ash, but there was no doubt in her mind that he would be following after Willow and Elena in no time at all. She was actually a bit confused as to why he hadn't done so already... Zuri wasn't a complete moron--she could see that he was quite fond of Miss Willow Austin. Lucky, lucky girl.

Finally though, at the other end of the table, her large crystal blue eyes found Nikolai Archibald; one of the few she could never quite figure out and who tended to get under her skin at times, tap dancing on her last nerve with his... less than enthusiastic attitude and reserved nature. Perhaps this would be the year she'd get to him. Either that or annoy the heck out of him.

She decided, she was going to try, starting with a friendly hello.

Giving a small smile to Ash as a way of saying goodbye, she stood, looked down at her white dress to make sure it hadn't wrinkled or wasn't stuck further above her knee than it was meant to be, then walked over to him and plopped herself down in a vacant seat across from him.
My, he is gorgeous, she took a moment to note.

"Hello Nikolai! I didn't see you come in earlier," she greeted with a big smile.

Just prefect...Miss Azura had spotted him with her large blue crystal ball eyes and had her radar unmisstakably set on him. There was no where to hide now. Nikolai watched with a slightly amused smile on his face as the blond strolled over and plopped herself down in the seat next to him.

He had to admit that she was as pretty as he had remembered her to be. Pouring some more pumpking juice into his goblet he said softly "Evening Azura!" Offering to pour her some pumkin juice Nikolai continued "I had some duties to care off at home that's why i didn't ride on the train with you and the others." Travelling by floo powder was though better in his eyes since then Niko didn't need to converse with other people too much. Big crowds wasn't really his thing, and he was prince.

Azura thanked him softly for the juice then took a small sip as he spoke. This was another moment where she really would have liked to be nosy--what was it that was so important to take care of that you would miss the train ride, a social event in itself? But yet again, the words of her parents rang in her ears. She didn't need to know. See, she was getting better at this thinking before speaking concept!

"But that's so sad and unfortunate! You missed all the social chatter and catching up and even the trolley! What could have been so important to miss all of that?"

Dang it. There it was. She really needed to work more on being careful of her words, especially when in such a good mood. Enthusiasm usually just let everything slip out in a long line.

Sipping on his own pumpking juice he could almost sense how Azura itched to dig deeper into why he hadn't taken the train ribe. Nikolai knew that sooner or later she would bring it up. Nodding he said holding up a hand "Ah, but that is where you and I are different Azura. I don't care much for social chatter for hours and hours. Not my kind of thing. I might be a crown prince and all, but it doesn't mean i have to be a socialite." Really, when Nikolai took the train he usually found himself an empty compartment and spent the ride reading a good book or took care of some remaining duties.

Like a letter in the post Azura asked what had been so important that he had missed the train. He studied her for a moment and then said "If you must know. I had to sort out a huge mess that my older sister Rosanna had created. If i hadn't the whole castle would have been in an uproar by now." Nikolai took another sip from his goblet and waited for the blond's next wave of questions.

Azura had already known that he was a bit (hem hem, a lot) anti-social, but hearing him actually say it somehow managed to shock her. Perhaps because for Zuri, having a social life outside of family and politics is what kept her alive and waking up with a smile each morning. In her mind, friends and events meant all for dance, chatter, and fun were a complete necessity. "Haven't you heard? A person who chooses to 'sit in the corner' is a very gloomy person." Crossing her legs and sticking her hand under her chin she asked him rather bluntly, "Would you consider yourself to be a gloomy person Nikolai Archibald?" Her voice, though, the same innocent and sweet sound to it as it almost always had. She really wasn't trying to be rude or condemning...

His answer most certainly peeked her interest. And since he had already given her an answer to her first 'unnecessary question'...
"What kind of mess? Was it intentional or an all around mistake?"

Okay, maybe he shouldn't have said anything at all. Admitting that he was slightly anti social caused Azura to sort of attack him. Nikolai watched amused as she crossed her legs and asked striaght out if he considered himself to be a gloomy person. He pretended to contemplate for a moment. Nikolai then turned a litttle in his seat to look into her eyes laughing just a little "No I don't consider myself a gloomy person. Why do you see me as gloomy?"

Honestly though where had the gloominess question come from. Admitting that he wasn't a very social person wasn't so bad was it? Nikolai shook his head and got serious as Azura asked what his sister had done. "It was an intentional mistake that could have damaged her whole image in the eyes of the public if it had gotten out. Let's just say that Rosanna had some not so good relations with people of shady nature and leave at that." Nikolai wasn't very keen to discuss his sisters mistakes further and he hoped Azura understood that.

"Well..." Azura started, thinking of the nicest possible way to put it. Normally she would flat out lie with a very sweet lie for the sake of not offending a person, but there was something about Nikolai that almost made it more challenging to step around the truth, or in this case, her honest opinion. "Lonely is probably more what I think, but that's by choice isn't it? And gloomy is often paired with it. But, I mean, I could easily be wrong about you. I don't know you well enough to judge correctly." Her eyes remained on his as she finished her own answer, waiting for him to enlighten her as to his true character or maybe that she was correct. Though, maybe he wouldn't say anything at all? She didn't ever know what the expect from him.

Zuri took the hint and her smile faded quickly while her cheeks warmed with the embarrassment of asking. She shouldn't have... "Oh... I'm sorry to hear that.. And that you had to be the one to clean up the mess." Not knowing for sure what else to say, she took a good three second drink of her pumpkin juice then finally, upon setting it down said, "I have an older sister too who tends to make problems wherever she goes, if that makes you feel any better. Not that it should, but... Yeah. It's, umm, best when she's not staying at the house."
Much less fighting. But to the public eye, they needed to be the perfect family.

As she spoke that time, telling about her own sister, her voice was back to its usual, but a little unsure.

"Do you like Hogwarts?"

Ash could see that Willow was ready to get out of the Great Hall. That was probably what was best. She needed to be in the common room where she could let her guard down slightly and relax. He gave her a smile as she specifically looked at him with the invitation. "You both go on. I will be up soon. I have something I need to do first but I will come find you" he told Willow with a nod.

He was a Night Dweller. All of this food at the feast, while sure it could taste okay, did nothing for him nutritously. He got up from his seat and went over to one of the house tables where there was a group of girls sitting. They were always the easiest and most willing to take blood from. All he had to do was turn on his charm and it was that simple.

Once Ash's hunger was diminished, he walked out of the empty classroom that he and the young fourth year girl had gone into. She had already left and now it was time to find Willow. Ash really was worried about her. The whole scene with Marik and Dozer down in the Great Hall he could tell upset her.

Ash made his way up to the Oden's Ford common room. But he didn't quite make it there. He saw Elena and Dozer sitting on the ground outside of a classroom on the fifth floor. He walked up to them and nodded politely to Dozer but then went onto Elena. "I thought I was meeting the two of you in the common room. Is that where Willow is?" He asked her.

Nikolai studied Azura closely wondering what could come out of her mouth next. He full well knew that he had invited her to make a judgement of his character. Like an afterthought Nikolai would have liked to retract his question. If was not proper for a crown prince to discuss his character or lack thereof with a girl he hardly knew. Lonely by choice was something that fit Nikolai to some extent but he wasn’t going to enlighten Azura of that no. Let’s keep the mystery alive.

Taking another sip of pumpkin juice as she finished her little judging of his character he remained quiet. Nikolai’s eyes never left Azura but he didn’t make an attempt to either say if she was right or wrong. It was something for her to find out not something he needed to say out loud. Putting his goblet down Nikolai instead said “It was a big mess I give you that but it felt quite good to be able to solve the mess without asking my father for help.” Going to his father Edward with every little problem was something that Nikolai hated, and if he wanted to become a man he needed to be able to fix things without his father’s involvement.

As Azura spoke of her own sister being a troublemaker like Rosanna he said softly “Thank you. It does help a little to know that i’m not the only one with troublesome siblings.” Further up the Oden’s Ford table he saw Ash stir from his seat and then leave the great hall. The night dweller was of course going to go look for whom else than Elena and Willow. Turning his attention back to Azura he said scratching his head slightly “I like Hogwarts. Or at least some parts to it. Don’t you like it here Azura?”

Willow sucked in her breath at his vehement speech while her eyes glazed over with tears. The storm outside the window kicked back up as rain lashed at the window. He hadn't really said those words had he? Thunder rumbled and lightening crashed giving a voice to her inner anguish. The rain beat at the window so hard she thought the glass might break. Shaking out her long hair she looked at him. He was handsome and brave and all the things she wanted in a mate but it just couldn't be.

Shaking her head she looked at him, her tears running freely down her face. "You want to know why we can't be?" She nearly shouted. If he wanted to truth then she would give him the truth. Vaguely she thought she heard Ash outside the door but couldn't be sure. Maybe someone would come to her rescue.

Determination hardened her resolve. "My people are ruled by my father and my ancestor for generations. They have made sure that our ways and our people remain safe. And in all that time we have only had one law. Just. One." She looked at him trying to make sure that he listened and listened good.

"The Cardinal Law states that no member of Coventry can ever fall in love with a mortal lest they both suffer horrible fates. The Coventry member would be imprisoned for an entire life time and the mortal," The faces of all those who had been executed while she witnessed flashed through her mind. She continued brutally, "They are killed before the Council."

She held her head high, her blond hair shining and her eyes taking on a sheen of power held tightly in check. "I am Willow Austin, Crown Queen of Coventry slated to take my place on the thrown in a few years time. I am subject to my people and to the laws that govern us. Falling in love with a mortal such as yourself is not something that I can allow."

She looked down at her hands. "I will not hurt my family and I won't be responsible for your death. Drop it and let it go." Her voice was quiet but it held authority. With quick precision she made a rumble, though it sounded more like a roar, just outside the window hoping that Elena or Ash or anybody would take that as a signal. The strike of lightening that followed shook the castle down to it's very foundations. The ground beneath her buckled and rolled but she kept her feet and the rain turned to hail. This little interview was over.

Dozer gave a lopsided grin at Elena's obvious impression. He could see in her face that he had impressed her greatly. Running a hand through his hair he noted the storm had picked up again. He could hear muffled voices and only hoped that the thunder was natural but something told him it wasn't.

"Yeah. I wasn't keeping count during the game I was just doing what I do best. Afterwards everyone told me the number. I couldn't believe it to be honest."
He gave her a boyish grin. The grin faltered and failed as a roar of thunder sounded and then the ground beneath him bucked throwing him across the floor and away from the door he was guarding. Cursing he looked out the window to see the rain turn to hail that pelted the window all of it pointing toward the locked door.

Ash stood outside of the classroom on the fifth room corridor. He was waiting to Elena to answer his question about Willow. He wanted to check on her to make sure that she was okay after tonights run in with Marik in the Great Hall. Just as he was about to say something more though he heard a noise from inside of the classroom.

Then he looked down at Elena and Dozer sitting there on the ground. Elena had said that she would follow Willow to the common room, but here she was sitting with Dozer. And normally where Dozer was Marik was, and where Willow was Elena was. "SHe's in there isn't she?" He asked both of them, his facial features getting more and more stern. "She's in there with him"

This was not good. He felt a mixture of emotions surge up through him. The first was definately jealously. Which Ash had to remind himself was insane. Marik was a human and that fact threw away any chance that he had with Willow. On the otherhand though Ash was worried. Willow had already been stirred by the earlier conversation. He didn't think that it was wise that she was in a room alone with Marik.

Why had Elena allowed her in there?! He decided not to dwell on that fact, that was not what was important. Ash quickly tried the door. But it was locked, go figure. He pounded on the door with his fist, "Willow are you in there?" He asked. He got quiet for just a minute though and could hear that she was. Most people probably wouldn't have been able to hear anything but he was a nightdweller and his senses were stronger than most.

Ash was trying to think of some way to get into the room. That was when he heard the loud thunder. That was the last straw for him. The only thing that could have caused that thunder would have been Willow and it was safe to say that she was upset. He stepped back and rammed his shoulder into the door, once, twice, and it finally opened on the third time.

He rushed into the room and saw Willow and Marik. Willow despite her conposed royal look that she wore on her face, had tears streaming down her eyes. He was quickly by her side. "I do not know what is going on in here, but I would think that you would have the decency to see that it has gone far enough." he said to Marik, both his face and voice cold. Then he turned to Willow. "Come on, lets get out of here" He told her quietly.

Elena smiled in return, both because it was quite amazing and because of the pride for it in his voice. "You should teach--" she started, but stopped abruptly as Ash joined them, her eyes looking up to him. Mentally cursing to herself, she realized how horrible this looked and immediately began thinking of what to say. Would it sound better if it were only partly true or just tell him everything? She had Dozer to think of too in all of this... Not that she would ever let Ash be violent over it, or that he necessarily would be.

As the storm raised to a whole new level outside, the thunder crashed, the windows rattled, she no longer needed an answer. Ash knew what had happened and she knew that this was the sign to get Willow out. "Sorry, times up, Dozer." She was quickly on her feet and fire enveloped both arms, ready to get through the door. Ash got to that before her in a mere three tries. She watched him run inside, letting the flame quickly die, then stood in the frame of the door. Automatically , she felt a long stream of guilt and even slight embarrassment--a feeling she did not feel often. Willow had been gravely hurt by the conversation they had and, clear by her face, had told Marik what she wished dearly not to.

She stood silently, waiting to follow them back to the common room and forcefully keeping her eyes away from Dozer.

----------------------------------------------

Azura felt a small bit of irritation following his silence, but did what she could to keep it off her face. He was the one to allow the conversation piece in the first place, but, then again they hardly knew each other and he was a quiet soul to begin with.

As he watched her, she did the same until finally she dropped her eyes to her glass feeling a desperate need to come up with something new to say. But it was unnecessary, because he chose to finish about his sister. She looked up with excitement in her eyes as he spoke then smiled. "It does feel good doesn't it? It's good for the confidence and pride. You feel like you actually can do what we've been taught to do for so many, many years." She grinned. Azura had done far fewer things on her own than she liked. Because her father was always trying to change her and always acted as though she couldn't do his job as well as he could and therefore needed him for everything, she had developed a feeling of dependence and lost some of the confidence necessary to rule. She hadn't lost it all, that was for sure, but she often doubted herself in things of the court.
"Was your dad proud?" She asked him, of course expecting the answer to be yes. There was no doubt in her face or voice this time.

Azura gasped. "Yes! Yes I do!" Now THAT was unexpected. She had assumed that Nikolai would be yet another who professed to hate the school. "I'm pretty sure you're one of the first people I've talked to in years that agrees with me. You know, that likes it here? Well.. Elena does, kind of. But not really. Oh!" Next she was patting him on the hand with very evident thrill and excitement saying, "We have something we can bond on!" That was even more unexpected. She had a bonding point with Nikolai Archibald!

Willow stood staring Marik down hoping beyond hope that someone would get her out of this blasted classroom. She was one of the most powerful water elementals ever born but anything she tried could put Marik and whatever other mortals were in the area in danger. She could try ramming the door but she didn't have the kind of strength it took to take the door down.

Thankfully, she was saved from even attempting the feat as Ash shouldered the door open. Her eyes flicked to him taking in his anger and frustration. She was almost slightly embarrassed at her current predicament but thrust it brutally aside. Sooner or later this all would have had to come out, she was glad that it was over.

As Ash came to her side she barely registered his words to Marik, the only words she caught were his last. Nodding, she took a tentative step towards the door not sure if she could trust her legs. The effort it had taken to control her roiling emotions had been extreme. When her legs held her she took one last look at Marik and gave him a differential nod then swept from the room.

She went past Elena and continued on to the Common Room. As she walked her head was held high and her fists were clenched. She was making an effort to calm the storm outside. Thunder still echoed through the grounds but the lightening had abated and the rain had calmed to a steady downpour. Her nerves were shot and all she wanted was some peace among her own people. Mortals were so difficult.

She finally entered the Common Room and sighed with relief. Finding an empty couch she slipped onto it curling her legs up underneath her. Her eyes went back to their usual color and her hair stopped streaming around her face.

Willow looked over at Ash and gave him a grateful smile. "Thank you."

Dozer looked on in astonishment as Ash battered down the door. Elena stood framed in it looking more then a little guilty. He wasn't sure exactly what had gone on in that room but whatever it was wasn't good.

He looked at Willow as she came gliding out of the room and his mouth dropped open. He'd never seen her like that before. Her eyes were the color of gray storm clouds and her hair was floating around her face like the tendrils had a life of their own. She looked both beautiful and terrifying. He gave Elena a small smile as the three of them passed. He wasn't sure what else to do.

Walking to the now broken door he peered in. Marik was still standing frozen in one spot. "Hey man. You okay?" He said it lightly almost casually but the concern was there all the same.

Ash stood there looking at Marik. He was furious. Normally Ash was a really laid back and calm guy. That was just the type of personality that he had, even when he had on his Royal face was there an underlying calmness about him. But when he was upset, he was much like his father who had a reputation in Coventry for his anger.

Ash cared about Willow end of story. Sure he had hopes that when they were older marrige might come, but whether it did or not she was one of his close friends and he cared about her. He knew how strong Willow was. She was one of the strongest women that he had ever met and to see her this upset broke Ash's heart. It as made him infurriated at the person who had caused it.

Once Willow agreed to leave he drew his gaze from Marik and brought his eyes to her. He saw her hesitate for a moment and was just about to assist her when she was able to walk on her own. He knew that she would have rather been independent than have his help. As they walked through the door he said nothing to either Elena or Dozer. Then he followed Willow to the common room.

Ash watched as Willow's features calmed down and he saw her relax more. Then he took a seat next to her on the couch. He gave her a smile. "I just wish that I would have gotten there sooner" He told her. He still didn't know what exactly had happened in that room, but at this point he didn't need to.

Elena waited until the two of them had passed before following and as she did, she only flicked a small glance to Dozer then brought her gaze ahead of her. She wiped the guilt from her features, for there was very little she could have done to begin with and it only would have given Ash reason to believe she could and simply decided not to. It wasn't the case.

As she entered the room, she remained silent and sat in a chair opposite Ash and Willow. At least she was looking a little more relaxed... but knowing Willow, it was forced.
We all wish you would have gotten there sooner, she thought to herself.

Willow shook her head and reached over to grab Elena's hand. She gave her best friend a grateful look. She could tell that Elena felt bad she just didn't want to say anything. "It would have happened eventually. When Marik wants something he won't stop till he gets it." Sighing, she let go of Elena and put her head in her hands.

"I should have known that I couldn't run from him forever. I just wish I could have been a little prepared." She sat back finally tossing her hair over the back of the chair and resting her head on a cushion. It had been a long night.

"I just hope that that was the end of it."
Her voice was barely above a whisper but she knew that the other two could hear her. She hoped with all of her heart that Marik had gotten the message that time.

Ash watched as Willow took Elena's hand. He looked towards Elena and gave her a small smile. He was still slightly upset about what had happened, but it was all in the past and Elena definately was not to blame for tonights events.

"Still though he took it too far" He turned back to Willow. Ash still did not know the details of what had happened in that classroom, but he had seen enough. He knew that Marik was lovesick but still there was a certain limit and Willow had more than reached it.

He watched as Willow leaned back on the cushion. She had to have been exhaused. "Why don't you go get some rest" He said to her. But then again, Willow might not want to be alone just yet. "Or at least would you like a blanket and maybe some hot cocoa?" He asked trying anything he knew of to make her feel better.

Marik watched with some astonishment how just three words could have such an impact on Willow. As her eyes glazed over with tears he just wanted to go over and hug her which he hoped she knew he would if she could. The thunder storm raging outside the window and the rain that continued to splatter at the closed window was just one more piece of evidence to the fact that Willow was upset. It hadn’t been Marik’s intent to upset her but he had to know why she kept avoiding him. He loved her and love could conquer any obstacles no matter the size or difficulty.

Marik was though not nearly prepared for what Willow told him just a few seconds in an almost shouting tone with tears streaming down her face. He listened attentively as she spoke many expressions flickered over his face as he got the whole truth about the Cardinal Law. Marik had had absolutely no idea that relationships/marriages between mortals and immortals were forbidden. As Willow spoke of the horrible fates the two could face Marik had to swallow several times to keep himself from saying exactly what came into his mind at any given moment. Life imprisonment and execution it was no wonder that Willow was afraid of getting to close to him.

Again Willow stated that they couldn’t be and that she didn’t want to be responsible for his death. Marik was about to object and share his thoughts with her when a huge lightening struck just outside the window making the whole castle shake. Marik had to brace himself against the nearest wall to keep from falling to the floor. As he regained his balance Ash crashed through the door to save Willow once again. Marik kept his lips shut and his eyes turned away as Willow left the room with Ash, her guardian.

Marik moved from frozen position as Dozer came into the room. Looking at him he said truthfully “Not really. Willow just gave me a 101 course in the laws of Coventry. Apparently any relation between mortals and immortals like marriage is forbidden by law. Did you know that?” Suddenly feeling very tired and emotionally drained Marik said “Let’s get out of this classroom. I need to go back to the common room. I don’t think I have the strength to meet Ash one more time tonight.”

She had a bonding point with Nikolai Archibald!

Nikolai sensed that his decision to not reveal exactly how he was as a person irritated the young woman sitting next to him. He was thought known to be a quiet soul who didn’t exactly feel the need or wish to tell the world all his inner secrets and that included Azura for the time being. Maybe Nikolai did that as a way of self preservation as his second nature. If someone got to too close too fast he clammed up like shell. It wasn’t something he did intentionally but considering his history it was highly understandable. Being a prince in the country of Firesun wasn’t easy his relationship to his parents wasn’t picture perfect.

Turning to glance at Azura he said quietly “Yes it does feel good to know that all the lessons i’ve been taught hasn’t been for nothing.” Nikolai’s father had though not showed either pride or happiness of his son soon accomplishment. Many flickered through Nikolai’s face before it stopped in a neutral one “I’m not sure if my father was/is proud of me. He isn’t the one to give praise or compliments hastily or even love.” Nikolai knew that when those last words left his lips that Azura would ask about his relationship to his father. It was in all honesty not much more than the relationship between a king and his heir something which Nikolai despised.

He didn’t get any time to think before Azura with bubbling excitement that Nikolai didn’t in fact think that Hogwarts was such a bad place. “Does Elena like it here? That’s surprising I thought she shared Willow’s feelings about Hogwarts.” What came after was something that Nikolai certainly wasn’t prepared for. SHE was patting him on the hand all joyful saying that they had something to bond on .Eh??? Confused he raised a brow “Bonding point? I only said I don’t completely dislike it here.” Azura was moving way too fast for him.

Willow smiled. "I can forgo the blanket but the hot cocoa sounds too good to pass up." Ash was being to good to her and she had to admit the a chocolate fix sounded like just the thing she needed. She desperately wanted to get the conversation turned somewhere other then her recent run in with Marik. Glancing over at Elena she gave a small smile.

"So what shall we plan for tomorrow? My only request is that we stay far away from abandoned classrooms." She was trying to make light of her predicament and found that laughing a little did help. She looked to Ash to include him in their plans as she was certain now that she wanted him close by. With her two best friends close at hand she was sure not to have a repeat of tonight.

Dozer shook his head. Not only was he upset about Marik and his situation but he felt like he had just been punched in the gut. He couldn't ever be with Elena? Well, it wasn't like he had been planning on marrying the girl but starting a relationship would have been nice. This new revelation was a total shocker. For once in his life he was speechless and simply nodded as his friend headed for the common room.

Lost in his own thoughts Dozer trudged down to the dungeons and into the Slytherin Common Room. Man, this sucked.

Elena’s eyes focused fully on Willow’s for the first time since they entered the common room as her friend took her hand. Relief that she was not upset with her filled her with a momentary boost of happiness, though it didn’t last very long. She didn’t know what to say in return other than the immediate thing that came to mind: ‘he would not be giving up. Not for good.’ But she bit her tongue. Elena didn’t normally feel the need to be so careful, but after what just happened, she found silence easier and best.

As her hand was dropped, along with it went Elena’s focus. She had smiled softly to the two of them, but Dozer had drifted quietly into her mind and suddenly her throat felt thick and her heart heavy. She felt certain that Marik had already told Dozer what Willow had said. She had to remind herself that this was for the best, but the feelings that should have gone with good news never showed up. They would never have been able to be together to begin with, but there was always that small part of her that expected it to happen anyways. As if the Cardinal Rule would just…. fade; become nonexistent. It was silly, she knew, but she couldn’t help it.
What did this mean about the friendship? Would it just end here? She didn’t want to let that happen. Willow and Ash had always gotten her through the Hogwarts summers happily enough, but in a different way from Dozer.

Having only been half listening to her friends, she finally blinked and looked up at them, away from the spot on the carpeting she had been staring at. Hot chocolate, she believed was the consensus. As much as she would have loved some, she knew it was not a good idea. She had already had more sugar than her dad recommended for a day. Giving a slightly forced smile to the two she said, “I think I myself will actually be going for some coffee. That sounds fantastic right now…”

With Willow’s next statement though, she couldn’t help but laugh genuinely. Thank you, Willow. “Something outdoors perhaps? It’s supposed to be lovely outside tomorrow and nothing can lift spirits like a sunny day. Or so they say,” Elena suggested.

------------------------------------------------------

Once Azura got her answer from Nikolai regarding his father, her face fell. It had not been at all what she expected him to say. And in return, she probably wasn’t giving the reply that he expected. Her eyes fell to her glass and she pressed her lips together. “Oh.. I’m sorry…” Her reaction, though, was not giving off an awkward appearance, as though she didn’t know what to say. Every move she made said that she knew what that was like. She understood the frustration and sadness that had flicked across his features before landing on one more carefree. She did not speak of it though. Her family was one thing that even Azura didn’t much like to discuss unless she was lying about them. Still silent, she touched the rim of her glass before gently picking it up and taking a sip. “What’s your mother like..?” She finally asked softly. She wanted to look at him again, but her eyes wouldn’t allow it. Not until she was back to an ‘Azura Rylan’ state—cheerful looking.

“Elena?” She looked away from her glass. “Oh, she basically has the same feelings about it as Willow… She thinks it’s pretty here and she likes coming to see Dozer Flint, but other than that she kind of hates it here,” she informed him. Soon enough though, she was giggling, having realized what he thought she meant by her earlier statement. “Oh! No! Not like—“ She giggled. “Not like that… By ‘something we can bond on’ I just mean something we have in common that we can talk about!” Shaking her head amusedly to herself, Zuri grinned. “My mother often says it like that…”

Ash nodded as Willow said that she would like the hot chocolate. Then just as he was about to turn and ask Elena what she wanted she beat him to it. Ash then turned and saw a boy about the age of twelve. He was one of his father's advisors son's. "Jacob will you come here for a moment?" He asked the boy. He nicely asked him if he would run and get one cup of hot chocolate, and two cups of coffee. Once the boy happily abliged he turned back to the two girls.

He heard Willow ask what Elena wanted to do tomorrow. He gave her a warm smile as she included him in the plans. Truth be told whether he would have been included or not Ash would have come. He was worried about Marik and didn't really want to risk Willow having to see him again. He knew that it would come but he would do anything he could to prevent that from happening. Willow was one of his best friends and always had been. Sure now that they were older, they had a legacy in coventry to think of and that was when the thoughts of marrige came to mind. But those aside he would always find her to be one of the people that he was closest to in life.

Ash listened to Elena's suggestion. Sure it was true that being a Nightdweller he prefered night time. But Ash could go out in the sun. The myths that he couldn't were simply just myths. He had learned a long time ago too that he didn't like feeling held back by that small detail so when it came to Elena and Willow he actually spent more time than most other Nightdwellers in the sun. "Sounds good to me" He said to them as he noticed Jacob walking back into the room. He stood to meet him at the door and took the cups from him. "One coffee" He said handing one to Elena. "One hot cocoa" He said with a smile to Willow. Then he sat back down on the couch with his coffee as well. "Enjoy" He told them.

Willow sighed in contentment as she took a deep swig of the hot chocolate. It warmed her like nothing else could chasing away the cold, the hurt, and the loneliness that had crept up on her. Her father had always said that being the Ruler of an entire country was the loneliest job on the planet.

After tonight she could totally relate to how her father felt. Curling up even more Willow wrapped her hands fully around the warm cup and took another drink. As the rest of the tension slowly eased out of her body she smiled lazily at Elena. "Outside sounds nice. I only wish we had our horses here so we could go riding."

OoC: Just so you know, I'm going out of town for the week. I'm leaving tomorrow. So if I don't post for a bit, that's why (though I am going to try )

Elena smiled, reaching for the mug. "Thank you." Her legs were soon in a more comfortable position, pulling them up onto the chair in a more 'ladylike' fashion than before with Dozer. Ladylike, yet comfy. She took a small sip and while it seemed to go down too fast, sending her insides into heat shock it felt so good. Coffee was one of those night time and morning necessities, getting you through anything in a better mood.

In response to Willow, Elena nodded, bring the mug to her lips again and taking another drink before answering. She personally didn't have horses where she lived, but she had often gone riding none the less with Willow. Her uncle did have cows though... 'Home grown meat' as he liked to call it. "It still surprises me that they don't have any here, to be honest. It's not as though they don't have the space."

OoC: RP of the Week!

Willow nodded her head at Elena's assessment. The grounds for Hogwart's was huge and yet they had no stable. They had greenhouses and a gigantic forest and a lake for crying out loud. Though, when she thought about it, horses was the main source of transportation in Coventry and for wizards well they had brooms. She still wished she could go riding. Loose herself to the rush and the wind. She loved making it rain while she rode.

Sighing, as another pang of homesickness over took her, Willow polished off her hot chocolate and then stood. "Well, I think I'm headed for bed. It's been a long day and I wish for nothing more then to have it end. I'll see you two in the morning." She certainly hoped that tomorrow would be a whole lot better.

Ash listened to the conversation that was going on between Willow and Elena. Like both of them, he was slightly shocked that she school didn't have any horses. Well he had heard that there were similar things around the grounds or in some of the classes, but no real horses. And honestly he wasn't thrilled about riding throughout the grounds on some invisible magical horse like creature.

As Willow stood so did Ash. It was out of habbit. He had been taught from a young age that anytime either a royal or a woman stood to leave he was to stand too, and Willow here fit in both catagories. He took the mug that had held her hot cocoa from her hands. "Goodnight Willow" He said to her with a soft smile and a nod. "If you need anything don't hesitate to come and get me" He told her. He meant it too. She had been through a lot today and she needed rest. But she also needed to know that someone was there for her if she needed it.
