| | |  Alternative titles for Book 7? UPDATED
Harry Latino.com is reporting that Deathly Hallows was registered with the U.K. Patent Office on Dec. 5, along with Deadly Veil and Heart of Ravenclaw. It is possible that these are the other two alternative titles J.K. Rowling was considering for Book 7.
Just as a side note, the patent site also lists the titles of Harry Potter and the Hallows of Hogwarts and Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Hallows which were submitted back in July of 2003 (both these titles were withdrawn, however).
Also of note, the Dutch title for Book 7 is Harry Potter en het Fatale Heiligdom, which means Harry Potter and the Deadly Shrine/Sanctuary.
So what does all this mean? Could the veil or the Ravenclaw Common Room be horcrux hiding places? Is there a deathly shrine somewhere in Hogwarts castle? Let the speculations and theories begin …
Source: TheSnitch UPDATE: A spokesperson for J.K. Rowling has stated that both Heart of Ravenclaw and Deadly Veil were “never contenders” for the title of Book 7. Quote:

i don't think the Ravenclaw Common room, i'm thinking more something to do with Rowena, cuz Heart of Ravenclaw is kinda like the biggest part about it, therefor the founder.  and the veil i never thought of as anything except the killer of my lover.... it's an odd possibility that it may be a horcrux as well... hmmm

In Brazilian-Portuguese Half-Blood Prince was translated "O Enigma do Prince" which means, The Prince's Mystery, or something very close to that. So it is not always the exact meaning. Unless it was J.K. who translated I wouldn't trust it, I mean she knows what she meant by Deadly Hallows. It's a language thing you can't really expect a perfect translation.

Well, I like all of the titles - I'm surprised she didn't pick Heart of Ravenclaw. It's the most upbeat, mysterious one, I think ... but I think the veil one is just thrown out there to get those crazy rumors going again ... I hope she does mention the veil, and explain it in the final book. I'd REALLY like to know more about it.

I'm with all the others when I say I prefer the one she's chosen. She did say she had one, then two others came up just recently, so it'd be interesting to find out which one was the one she had first!
Deathly Hallows is just so...mysterious! It's got us all in suspense over what the book will tell us...
