On either side of the rows of caged owls, adorning the walls are shelves. These shelves hold all of the things under the sun that you could ever what for your owl: food pellets, insect jars, and even little cuddly toys. These shelves look quite old, but there is no need to worry as they are held up with quite strong charms so nothing'll fall on your little heads.
Lining the first set of shelves are many jars of weird looking insects, ranging from stick insects to your plain ordinary green fly. The owls will eat any of these insects, so take your pick and buy as many as you want. Be careful though so you don't pull down all the jars with you, because all those insects on the floor won't make the shopkeeper very happy. Above the insect jars are an assortmert of boxes all holding different sized packets of owl pellets. These are fun-sized little bits of food that are perfect for an owl.
Dotted along either side of the shop, alongside the shelves are big boxes, contain an assortment of little cuddly toys and other little trinkets that will allow you to care for your owls every need. Stuck onto the top of these boxes is a sign that reads "All items in this box 1 galleon."
She was listening to him explain "Hufflepuff??" what was she getting her self into, why did her parents have to move. "Oh.... that sounds interesting... and yes I am a transfer just moved from the states. how did you like it??? " she asked while letting the rest of his information sink in...
"erm... soo.... yeah.. do you like my heels?" she asked him for she didn't know really what else to say... plus she wanted to find a cute little owl.
Interesting was an understatement. There were ghosts, house elves, crazy Potions Professors who dumped cauldrens full of tainted potion on your head and yes, crazily named houses; but Auggie would let her find out about those other things on her own. "I really liked it. I met a bunch of nice people and even my girlfriend there, her names Taryn Hayden and she's a Slytherin if you ever meet her." Yeah, inter-house relationships did happen.
O___o
Her heels? August had never EVER really noticed a girl's shoes unless prodded to do so. Taryn had long stopped asking his opinion, Tori knew better, and Aspen didn't wear them (at least he didn't think so--didn't pay any attention). "They're uh...nice I guess. You like my shoes?"

Just making conversation....
"oh well, I hope I met her, she sounds nice....Slytherin, i have to remember that one.." she said while smiling when he said that he liked her shoes and he even asked her if she likes his. "Oh yes, very nice. Sorry about the shoe thing, I like to design them on my spare time. I actually made these." she said proud of her self.
She noticed another girl walk in, she was smaller and seemed to be all alone.

Cora walked around, sort of hopeless to being able to decide anything here. She could really use a friend to help her out. Or at least to chat. Despite wanting more friends, Cora was a bit too shy to simply walk up to someone and introduce herself.
" Hi there... are you looking for an owl too?" she asked her since August was being so nice to her she started to feel chatty.
"Im Zarifa and this is August we just met but he seems nice." she said giving him a smile. boy oh boy did Zarifa not have a filter as her mother would call it. Always talked too much.

Cora blinked, shocked that someone had actually noticed her. After smiling at the girl in front of her, she answered a bit timidly, yet louder than her normal whisper. "Hi. I'm Cora." With a pause she added, "It's nice to meet you two."
"Yes, I am looking for an owl. I haven't quite decided on buying one, though. My mom's sort of scared of them." Cora wished she hadn't mentioned this embarrassing bit of information. She didn't add that it was her mother's fault she hadn't been at Hogwarts the past two years.
The girl looked to be about Cora's age, but she couldn't be sure. It had been a while since Cora had really been able to chat with someone her own age, and the thought brought a smile to her face. Politely, she continued. "You see, I haven't been to Hogwarts since I was eleven. It was the worst not having an owl to contact my friends. My mom wouldn't let their owls come through the window either."
Shocked that she had already revealed all this, Cora tried to change the subject. "Are you getting an owl?" Once again, Cora's smile was more than she had in a long time. This girl seemed really sweet and the thought of having a new friend got Cora excited.

The females were bigger..? "Well this guys pretty small... I think it's a boy." he said as he held his hands out for the cage. "He's all podgy!" Xander laughed as he resisted the urge to poke the owl's tummy. Hmm... "Yep. That's your name now. Pod." he told it with a nod. Yep.
"I definitely want him." Yeah, he was the right owl. "I should buy food and treats and stuff too, right?" Or was it just treats... 'cause he knew owls hunted and stuff... Hmmm.
Ella smiled as she watched Xander take out his gloves and she handed him the cage when he was ready. She was curious about the whole glove thing but decided against asking, perhaps when they knew each other better or something. Observing the adorable owl carefully, Ella nodded at what Xander said next. "I think so too, he is quite small." So Xander was probably right about the male thing. She giggled at the comment about the owls weight. He was quite...round! In a cute way, of course. "He is! I think he's probably a big eater." GRIN. "Pod? That's a cool name. May I call him Mr. Pod?" Cause Ells really liked the sound of that.
"Good! I bet he'll be happy to have an owner." Ells said sincerely, smiling from Pod to Xander. "Yeah, I think that'll probably be necessary." Nod. Nod. Nod. "My Jasper likes the grasshoppers the best...though I feel quite bad for the bugs." Shrug.

Well then it was settled. Pod was a boy. Then Ella said something about calling him Mr Pod... hmmm... He looked at the owl with his head on one side. "What d'you think, Pod? Can we let her call you Mr. Pod?" The owl just looked at him, mimicking his head-to-the-side action. "I don't think he minds, but if you call him 'Mr' I might have to get him a top hat so he looks smart." he said, still peering in at the owl. Yep, a top hat would definitely suit him. And a monocle. Maybe he should be SIR Pod...
"Yeah... I don't know though, I can't exactly hold him properly." Xander looked up from the owl, he felt bad about it... maybe he should try and get over this thing he had. After all, he was fine with holding the cat. Hmmmmm... "My sister feeds her owl crickets... in fact, I think we have owl stuff back at home." he said. "So I guess I don't need to buy any." After all, Seraphinus had only told him to buy a pet if he wanted, he didn't say anything about the supplies.

"Oh yes, I am currently looking for an owl. I really want a cute small cuddly one.. but Im not sure where to start. Do you want to look together maybe with August's help?" she asked Cora.

Ella watched, amused, as Xander asked Pod if he'd mind her calling him something a little different. She couldn't help but giggle as the owl mimicked his head movement, finding that quite cute. Oh. A top hat? This made Ella crack a wide smile. "Good, I'm glad he doesn't mind. I also think a top hat sounds like a brilliant idea, though I'm not sure Pod would be a fan." Though who knew what owls liked to wear in their spare time. Perhaps Pod was going to end up being some kind of owl model or something. Hey, it could totally happen!
Ella frowned, looking from Pod to Xander. "I erm...well I don't think he'd bite you or anything. Is that what you're afraid of?" She was trying to approach the subject gently, as not to offend the boy. She didn't want to scare off a potential friend by offending him. "Oh yeah? Jasper likes to eat all kinds of bugs. I think he eats too many, actually. I might have to put him on a diet if he keeps carrying on like he does." And she smiled, thinking of how much Jasper had plumped up since summer had started. "That's lucky then, yeah? You won't have to spend as much money." Though Ella wasn't really sure what kind of money Xander had available to him. Not everyone had to save for months so they could enjoy Diagon the way Ella did. "So you have a sister?" Ella asked next, curious. Maybe his sister was a witch?
"oh well, I hope I met her, she sounds nice....Slytherin, i have to remember that one.." she said while smiling when he said that he liked her shoes and he even asked her if she likes his. August actaully did think the girl's shoes were kind of cool, more so because she had made them herself rather than the actual design but yeah, still cool. "That's neat, I couldn't make a shoe with magic, let alone the normal way." He refused to call it the Muggle way since he always found that way of saying it offensive when others did it.
As his mind began to drift as it usually did when he was in places that had a lot going on and to look at around him, Auggie turned to look at the girl Zarifa had just said hello too. She was close to their age it seemed and was also looking for an owl. "Hi there Cora, I'm August, like she said." He pointed at the Gryffindor girl he had met a few minutes before.
The Beuxbatons boy nodded understandingly as the girl talked breifly how her mother hadn't allowed her to own an owl and he couldn't help but interject. "So is your mother a Muggle? My parents are and they aren't very fond of owls but they've never turned one away--they just don't want me to have one." But he did understand different parents had varying levels of strictness.
They had been chatting for so long and none of it was about actually buying the girls' owls which was mostly his fault. "Oh, right owls. I think the cages are this way if we want to head on over." He had been to the shop a few times now, plus the hooting and rather large cages did help.
"Oh, I understand being afraid of birds.." her best friend kyle was afraid of birds, "Oh so you've been to hogwarts before... This is my first year but ill be a forth year, mom and dad home-schooled me." she said while shivering. Her first three years of study wasn't pleasant.
"Oh yes, I am currently looking for an owl. I really want a cute small cuddly one.. but Im not sure where to start. Do you want to look together maybe with August's help?" she asked Cora.
Cora smiled. There was something about this girl that made her feel more at ease. She was shocked to hear Zarifa was in pretty much the same situation she was. For different reasons of course. "Oh, so we are the same year," Cora said, pleased.
"Um, sure," Cora said. She was hesitant, as most of the people she knew were not so kind and helpful. Gaining more confidence, she added, "I would love to. I'm looking for something cute, too." Cora had already smiled more than she usually did.

Cora had barely noticed the boy standing there while Zarifa talked. She jumped a bit, startled, when he looked at her. "Hi, August," she said shyly. "It's nice to meet you." Cora liked that name. August. It reminded her of the summer, which made her happy.
August seemed so sweet, and Cora wondered how old he was. Was he the same age as her? He was definitely taller than she was, but that was not such an incredible feat.
Embarrassed, Cora responded. "No, no. My mom's a witch. She's just, um, nervous about things." Nope. Cora was a pureblood. Not that she cared, really. She didn't think about all that nonsense about half-bloods and mudbloods. It was silly. "I think I'll probably get one. I'll be at Hogwarts most of the time anyway." Cora didn't want to sound like a child, talking about her mom so much.
As August pointed towards the owls, Cora looked towards Zarifa, to make sure she was coming, too.
Adeline jumped a little at the sound of Asher's voice. Her heart was now racing, she looked up at Asher. "I didn't know that, then again I don't know that much about owls." She shrugged. "Would a barn owl be a good choice to get?" she asked him. He had to know about them because had one. "Or a snowy owl?" she questioned.
Addie gazed at the barn owl and started to think about if she should get this one or the snowy owl and what should she name it.
Asher watched as Adeline looked at all of the owls. He shrugged "Either do I. My sister's best friend, Kita got me my owl for my birthday." He had no clue about owls, except what kinds there were?
Nodding "Well Avis has been a great owl." He smiled and notice that Addie was now looking at a snowy owl. "Caroline has a snowy owl, she's had it since her first year of school."
Asher had a plan. He smirked and put his arm around her shoulder. "So which one do you want?"

Adeline shrugged. "But don't you people from wizarding family's know things about owls and such?" this was confusing for her because she's a muggle-born and she doesn't really know much about this world. Once she leaves Hogwarts she doesn't get to see any of her friends until when she gets back to Hogwarts.
Adeline looked up at him. "I really don't know what one to get or what to name it." She frowned and looked at the Barn Owl once more.
She moved closer to him. "No." she whispered.

With Oakey and Aegis, hopefully, following behind him, Waylon entered Eeylops and quickly made his way over to the shelves. He was pretty sure the boys didn't want to look at the owls, since Oakey said something about buying something for his owl. And since he didn't know anything about what things owls needed, the shelves were the perfect place to start.
Plus, his brother was somewhere over by the counter. Waylon didn't want him to see him just yet.
"So.." he began, his eyes glancing at everything on display. All those bugs. "What is it you're looking for?" A toy? He didn't know owls knew how to play.

Aegis was tagging right behind Mr.Merdog while Oakey was taking up the rear, but was not to far behind. Aegis was dumbfounded with all the cool little items that could be found for owls and any kind of pet here. He started to scan for the very item(s) he wanted to surprise Oakey's owl with. He couldn't find what wanted at this shelf so he darted over to the next one and began rummaging through the boxes, but it wasn't there either. Then he over heard Merdog's question. "HATS!" Aegis said slightly irritated that Eeylops was lacking in accessories for owls, but excited that Oakey's Groundskeeper was willing to help them shop for their owl.
He didn't know what to do while in here. Last time he came in Eeylops was in his first year when he chose Valentine to be his familiar, and personal delivery owl. It was also Valentines first vicious attack on Oakey. Why he stuck it out with this owl for the last four years even he doesn't know. Taking his good hand Oakey reached up and took a jar of insects for Valentine to nibble on later. He let off a sigh when Aegis shouted Hats. "Aegis I don't think owls normally wear hats." Seriously what made that kid's mind think Valentine would even enjoy wearing a hat. "Just find a toy or something. It smells in here." if it wasn't for Aegis' need to get Valentine something and Merdog's presence Oakey would have never came back here. He looked up at Merdog and gave him an apologetic look for his Aegis' behavior.

Oh wow..
Waylon could now see why that vein on Oakey's head looked like it was about to explode earlier. He himself felt like he was going to get whiplash watching Aegis run over to each of the shelves, and he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows when the boy mentioned getting the owl hats. He didn't think owls wore hats. But what did he know, really? He never really worked with animals. Maybe they should all go bother Leonerd about that.
"Yeah, I don't think they sell owl hats here." He scanned the shelves a few more times before shrugging his shoulders. "Maybe you could make him one, though." Out of some newspaper. That way, it could be used for more than one thing. Yup. Chuckling as he heard Oakey's comment about the smell of the shop, Waylon stood on his toes and peeked over the shelves, looking for his brother.
"Maybe you should go complain to the shopkeep. Tell him to clean up a bit." Bwaha!

Aegis really couldn't tell if he liked Merdog, or not. At one point he was scarey, then he was cool, but now he was a buzzkill. No wonder Oakey took a liking to this guy. " Make him one? That's really lame." Aegis commented on Merdog's idea. Aegis didn't feel like being creative he wanted to find a Hat and buy it! Aegis moved on to the next box and began going through those things.
Oakey had almost dropped the jar of insects! Had Aegis just said Merdog's idea was lame, not true! Aegis didn't have any taste, the kid was always running around and never stopped to enjoy the scenery. That's why Oakey decided he would take a peek into the box Aegis had just left and actually look for something. Setting the jar down by his feet Oakey slowly went through the things in the box, and pulled out a squeaky mouse toy. "Here Aegis, you missed this, isn't it cool."
Aegis was about to just take a box and dump it on the ground, but Oakey called him over before he could. He walked over and looked at the mouse toy then snatched it out of Oakey's hand. "THIS IS LAMER!" Aegis tossed the toy back into the box.
"Good idea Mr.Merdog. Maybe the shopkeeper can help Aegis choose something. Then we can leave." Oakey gave the Groundskeeper a nice smile. He needed to smile too, Aegis was embarrassing him in front of the coolest man ever. He wasn't coming to Diagon Alley with Aegis alone ever again.

Well, that suggestion went over great with Aegis, didn't it?
But really, what did the boy expect? He had been looking at all the shelves and he didn't find one hat. And Waylon didn't think he would ever find an owl hat. Those animal's ears were far too big to keep one on their head. Heaving a sigh, the former Groundskeeper glanced over at Oakey as he picked up a squeaky mouse toy and nodded his head. Yes! See, Aegis? Wasn't that coooool!?
Apparently not.
But it seemed that Oakey had the same idea as him and Waylon thought it would be hilarious to see how Leonerd dealt with that boy. He could already picture it now. He didn't even need to do what he had planned on doing. Aegis was going to take care of all that. "Yeah, I really think that's a good idea. The shopkeeper's name is Leonerd." Grin! "Make sure you call him that. And loudly." Oh Merlin. This will be hilarious!

Oakey looked at Merdog strangely. Who would name their child LeoNERD that was just cruel, but if that's what was the Shopkeeper's name, then that's what Oakey will call him. "Excuse me, Mr.LeoNERD!" He called out hoping to get his attention. He'd better come quick Aegis getting really impatient by the looks of it.
Aegis was getting really impatient, He had gone through at least four or five boxes now and still no tiny owl hats. He passed by the entrance pacing back and forth waiting for the shopkeeper to appear, LeoNERD! LeoNERD! Aegis began shouting right after Oakey called for him. As he passed by the entrance once more Aegis knocked over a stack of Newspapers, but payed no mind to to mess he just made.
Seeing the Newspapers being knocked over Oakey quickly moved over to them and began re-stacking them as neatly as he could. That's when a certain article caught his eye. It was about Headmaster Tate's departure. So he began skimming the paper. Blah blah Blah... Wouldn't leave... blah blah... always been a champion...blah blah blah...Williamson, Jenkins, and Murdoch, not returning to Hogwarts.
... "WHAT!!!!!!"
Oakey practically stumbled as he dashed back over to Merdog! "THIS IS A LIE ISN'T IT!" Oakey practically cried out in disbelief! "WHY ARE YOU LEAVING! WHY JENKINS, WHY WILLIAMSON!?!?!" He shoved the Prophet into Merdog's chest!
... "You aren't leaving Mr. Murdoch, are you?"

Bwaha!!!
They were actually calling for Leonerd. And quite loudly at that. Waylon had a hard time containing his laughter, and every once in a while a few chuckles would leave his mouth. He didn't need the boys knowing that that wasn't really his brother's name. And if his brother did come around, he didn't want to be seen. Perhaps he could make a quick getaway when that time came.
Wiping at his eyes, holding in laughter obviously brought some tears, Waylon went back to scanning the shelves looking for something that Biscuit might like. Sure, Biscuit was a dog and yes, they were in an owl shop. But toys were toys. No matter who they were for. He was just about to pick up the same squeaky mouse that Oakey had earlier when the sound of something falling had him stopping.
As did Oakey.
What in the name of Merlin was the boy going on about!? Eyes widening a lot, he stared at the newspaper the boy was holding and with a little 'oof', he began to read it. Oh. Oh. Ohh! He had made it into the Daily Prophet AGAIN! And Oakey had called him by his real last name. Which made his finding out this way all the worse. "I was going to tell you." he frowned. "I actually already left." Hogwarts, that is. "I'm sorry.."

Oakey couldn't even bare hearing it come form the man himself. He shook his head back and forth. Wake up, Oakey! This is a nightmare, I mean you've got Aegis in the dream! It can't be real He stopped his head shaking and gave his broken arm a quick jab with his good arm. DAMNIT THAT HURTS LIKE HELL! He pulled in his tears from the pain because he didn't want Mr.Murdoch to see him crying. "No." Oakey said Oakey said in disappointment that he wasn't dreaming.
rubbing his broken arm gently to sooth the pain Oakey looked up at the Former Groundskeeper."This isn't fair one bit, why are you leaving? Who took your job.?"
Aegis hadn't seen or heard any of what was going between Mr. Merdog and Oakey, instead he just continued prancing around the store trying to get the attention of the Shopkeeper. "LeoNERD, LeoNERD, LeoNERD, come on out. We want your help LeoNERD!"

Leonard was both happy and overwhelmed that his shop was so busy these days. He was glad to see all the happy, little children in his shop all being super interested in his owls wanting to adopt one but that made him totally busy all day and he could hardly find anytime to clean all the owl poop all over the place.
After the last kid had left the shop with a Tawny Owl, the man supposed it was a good opportunity to clean some of the poop as he could not see another kid coming after the last one. Yes, he was free for a bit now so he could deal with all the poop and---
Huh?
Leo was about to get his rubber gloves when he though someone called him 'Leonerd', it made him look up looking for his brother. But as the call was repeated, he figured it was not his brother at all. Sighing a bit, he dropped his gloves and walked to the shelves where the person was yelling for his help and...
....there was his brother. He should have known.
The man cleared his throat. ''It's LeonArd, actually.'' he said ''How can i help?''
Then he turned to his brother. ''You should try better than that. Really. Funny face.'' haaaaaaaaa ''Came to return what you stole from me?''

Aegis was now doing a funny stomp around the shop while chanting the name "Leo-NERD, Leo-NERD, Leo-NERD, Leo-NERD!". He figured that a dance and chant would bring out the shopkeeper, like a Rain Dance would bring rain.
It worked Aegis was ecstatic at the mans appearance. He pumped his fist in victory. Weird that he would correct his own name? "Okay Mr. LeonAArd." He went back to one of the boxes and tried search for a hat once more, but no luck, this one did not have what he was looking for either. "Mr.LeonAArd." Aegis called out again, hoping he would not have to summon him with the Shopkeeper dance again. "I want a hat for our owl at home, but you don't have any." That's right Mr.LeonAArd your shop needs more animal clothes.

Oh, Merlin.
With Aegis running around the shop, yelling for LeoNERD, Waylon was having a very difficult time being serious with Oakey. He was actually hoping the boy wouldn't find out about his leaving.. until he went back to school, of course. But then there would have been distractions. And he wouldn't have been able to find him. Yeah, he should have just kept walking when he saw the Hufflepuff on the bench.
Frowning still, he folded the newspaper back up and placed it back where it belonged. He would just buy another copy somewhere else. It did have his name in it, after all. Unlike the last one. "No one took my job, Oakey." Well.. now someone new probably had it. But it wasn't stolen from him. "I just.. found a new one." Not better. Just new.
He had just opened his mouth to apologize once more, but the sound of Leonerd's voice caught his attention and he turned in his brother's direction. "Ahh, Leonerd. Good of you to show up." And would he please give that kid a hat for his owl!? "And you know that's not possible."
Nope. Because the thing that he stole was already on its way to their mother.

Oakey didn't believe one word that Mr.Murdoch was saying. Of course someone took his job! Now he was being forced to leave. "Why would anyone leave Hogwarts? What job?"
Oakey knew how silly that question sounded, of course everyone leaves Hogwarts, he had this year and two more to go before he left. But, to think Murdoch would leave just didn't seem right in his head. No matter how much the former Groundskeeper said otherwise. His job was TAKEN and Oakey would not forgive the new Groundskeeper for this. "I'll really miss you Mr.Murdoch. I could look after the grounds some too, maybe help the new person out." NAH, He'd do this just to keep a close eye on the job stealer, maybe make sure this new person doesn't take Hadley's Head of House position next!
Oakey's attention finally left Mr.Murdoch just as Aegis began talking with someone else. He couldn't have Aegis just go around talking with strangers, Harvey would never let Aegis out with him alone again...wait..Maybe Aegis should keep doing that then.
As Oakey looked at the new person, there seemed to be something oddly familiar about him, he just couldn't place it? It's like the answer was standing right next to him. "Mr.LeoNERD could you please tell my...umm...brother...I guess, that Owls don't need hats." He looked back at Mr.Murdoch then to Mr.LeoNERD. What was so oddly familiar about this Shopkeeper?

Waylon actually had to stop and scratch the top of his head.
There were so many things he could have said back to Oakey, but he figured that that was just one of those rhetorical questions. Why would anyone want to leave Hogwarts. And it wasn't like he wanted to leave Hogwarts, not really, but there were just so many other things he wanted to do. And quite frankly, he thought himself a horrible Groundskeeper. Surely whoever had his job now would do much better than he did. Oakey's second question, though, didn't seem rhetorical, and Waylon thought the boy deserved to know.
"It's a research job." Err.. "In Antarctica." There was so much wildlife there that needed to be discovered. And apparently he was the one to discover them. And if he didn't already feel bad, he would have right then. He didn't think Oakey liked him enough to miss him. And he didn't realize how much he was going to miss being called Merdog. "You..could..write to me?" Yes? Maybe.. "And..I could..write back?" Perhaps. If he remembered. If an owl would survive in Antarctica. Probably best not to mention that.
Chuckling, he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. The shoulder that wasn't connected to his hurt arm. "I doubt you will look after the grounds." he was giving him a look. "But it's the thought that counts."
Right, LeoNERD? Waylon was waiting for his brother to tell Aegis he didn't have owl hats. He was also ready to run right out of the shop.

So it was finally time to go do some shopping. And when Cassia says shopping then she means buying candy and cool stuff. Certainly not books or OWL's supplies for her evil owl! Of course she hadn't come here willingly she had been half-dragged by her mother because the father ordered so. Cassia couldn't understand why she had to buy stuff for a thing that's so-called a living creature who always bit and annoyed her. NOPE! She didn't want to waste her own money on that. Well, her parents money but not it's in her pocket so it was hers. Mhhmm...
As she entered the shop and wandered around checking the shelves. She was searching for something cheep to buy. Or maybe some kind of food that would kill the owl slowly and painfully! No? They don't sell those kinda things. Unfortunately. Wait! Maybe she could sell her owl here! Of course her father wouldn't approve but she would just have to come up with a story to that. Ehh...She was bad at stories. Though, it was hard to take any risk because Cassia knew that her grandmother was standing outside of the shop waiting for her. As Cassia's mother went to help her younger brother who was going to start school this fall.
Hmm...what to do...
