The tall skinny geeky blonde bombshell that was James Greenwood appeared in the doorway of Eyelops Owl Emporium to the sound the clanging bell. He was dressed in a bizarre combination of muggle attire – a short sleeved red gingham shirt and a pair of ill fitting blue trousers held up with thick blue braces.

He shuffled over to the the caged owls and began to look at each individual one carefully through soft eyes. A few backed away from the harmless looking man, hooting loudly as if sensing something not quite right there. A flicker of pain crossed boy's young man's face but he continued his way along the row of cages looking for the perfect companion.

Oooh. Hearing the bell ring Vanessa looked up from the counter, where she had been flicking through a magazine on owls (because she was that cool.) She didn't quite catch a proper glimpse at who had come, but she managed to see some blonde hair before the person disappeared down one of the rows. Closing the magazine, she moved from the counter, and approached the person who had entered.

What she saw, she didn't really expect. Blue trousers. Well that was quite odd, but it kind of worked for the man, and it amused her a little. "Hey..." She moved closer to him, watching as some of the owls backed away. "Need any help?"

Oh dear. James hated this. One of the owls seemed to have gone into a frenzied flapity flap panic as he paused by it's cage. He swallowed and moved swiftly on, missing out a few cages so that the owl would calm down. He jumped when he heard a female voice addressing him. His eyes widened and he turned to look at the shop assistant. “Uhm.. I-I'm looking for an owl.” He said stupidly and obviously and smiled self consiously at the woman.

The owls really did like this man, and it amused Vanessa a little. What could one do to make an owl scared really. "Well they look a little scared of you." She smiled at him, as she walked past him, to calm down the owl. "Shush silly." She stroked the owl, before turning back to the man. "I think you need an owl thats....not scared of you dear." She smiled, moving up next to him, and stroking the owl that was there. "Is there any particular species you would like?"

James took a step back from the cages when the woman pointed out to him that the owls were scared of him. It made it all the more worse to have someone say it aloud. He blinked as he looked at her. “I-I apologise.” He said softly, averting his eyes to the floor. The apology was as much to the poor owls as it was to the her. Animals had always loved him up until the time he was... well – nevermind that.

He turned back to look at the cage after cage of owls – so many – and glanced nervously at the woman as he felt her standing next to him. “I don't really mind what species it is, ma'am.” He said softly. “As long as it can carry packages and..” He swallowed. “..as you say, isn't af-afraid of me.” He glanced at her again briefly before focusing on a placid snowy owl that was studying him carefully with no signs of fear. “Your professional opinion would b-be most ah-appreciated.” He added.

"It's okay?" Vanessa smiled, the owl had calmed down now, so it was all fine really. She watched him, he still looked a little scared, and that worried Vannie a little, was she scary now. Hehe. "They just get a little spooked some times." Yeah...especially if the person is wearing bright blue jeans. Hehe. But they were rather nice jeans...sort of.

Oooh. He wanted this one. "This ones nice." She smiled at him, before opening the cage, and letting the owl hop onto her arm. "Not many know the species so I'm sure you'll be fine." She stroked the owl with a smile, as she watched him. "Well he doesnt look like he's scared of you...so I think you should be okay with this one." She nodded, with a smile, as she petted the owl on the head, before taking a few owl pellets out of her pocket, and feeding them to the owl.

Just a little spooked sometimes? Yes.. of course! It was silly to think they could sense something about him. He calmed down at little, his body language relaxing ever so slightly, but James being the shy and timid lad that he was could never relax completely.. not unless he was alone and in the comfort of his own home.

He watched the lady open the cage of the snowy owl and smiled a little as he watched how great she was with it. “She likes you.” He said and shuffled forward to stroke it's soft feathers. “Oh.. I work with magical creatures.” He said letting his eyes meet hers for an instant. She was pretty... and that made him nervous... or more nervous. “I-I m-mean I'm familiar w-with the d-d-different sp-species.” He corrected himself in a stutter and focused back on the owl. If it were a cat, it would be purring no doubt. “I think this one likes me.” He said softly looking at the beautiful creature.

Vanessa could tell that he had relaxed a little, so that was better. She was sure the owls being a little scared had probably made him a little tense, but if he was more relaxed now that meant it was good, because the owls wouldn't be as scared, which was awesome. She had a feeling he might be a little shy though...the way that he was acting, but that didn't matter, he was cute. hehe.

"Well I do look after them all." The brunette giggled a little, as she stroked the white feathers. She really thought that Snowy owls were beautiful, but then again she thought that all owls were beautiful, she was a little biased. She moved a little closer, so that he could stroke the owl, who was behaving. yey. "Ooh....that's awesome." She nodded, stroking the owl again, with a smile. "One of my best friends works with magical creatures....I love them." Because she was awesome. "I think it does too." She nodded with a smile, before thinking. "Do you want to hold him?"

James smiled awkwardly as she giggled. She did look after them, yes, so statement seemed silly in retrospect. “I-is it just you who works here?” He asked her trying to make conversation – he wasn't very good at small talk.

He looked back at the brunette, his eyes wide and child like when she mentioned her friend who worked with magical creatures. “At the Ministry? What is your friend's name?” Not that James knew many in his department – he tended to keep himself to himself at all times. He was the shy weird kid who sat in the corner and just got on with things.

He smoothed his blonde hair away from his face and nodded to the lady's kind offer of holding the creature. “I would like that.” He said offering her a grateful smile.

"Mhmm...." Vanessa nodded with a smile, as she glanced around her shop. Her shop. Hehe. She loved that sound. "I used to have an assistant but she moved in her own shop on the alley." Which was awesome because Artie was cute, and her favourite hehe. Actually that reminded her that she needed to go see how her favourite little assistant was doing hehe. She'd do that later.

"No....not at the ministry." That was funny actually, because she really couldn't imagine Iliana working at the ministry. "She's called Iliana...and works at Hogwarts." Which was where she had met her. Hehe. "She used to teach me...thats how I got to know her." Which was funny how a teacher - student relationship had turned into an amazing friendship. "Have you always worked at the ministry?"

"I think the owl would too." She nodded, as she held her arm closer, so the owl could hop across. "Now...no biting." She ordered the bird, because that would be not so good.

James nodded and smiled a little. It must be frightfully nice owning your own shop and running your own business, although he could never see himself doing that. You had to be 'people person' for such a career choice and James clearly was not that.

“Oh Hogwarts.” He replied interestedly. He secretly envied those who had been lucky enough to attend Hogwarts. The place was full of such history from what he had read. “D-Did you go to school there?” Questions, questions. Was he being a nosy parker? Or was this how the 'ordinary' folk conversed. He bit down on his bottom lip and felt his milky cheeks flush with embarrassment for prying. Oh dear, oh dear.

With the attention back on him, he was happy the question was a easy one to answer and not too much of an intrusion into his life. “No. I'm f-fairly new there. I worked on a Hippogryff f-farm before I moved to the Ministry.” Oh and there was the recent change around which hand been welcomes by James – he wasn't very good at dealing with grumpy goblins and their rants. “I was in the Beings Officeee but now I'm w-working in the w-werewolf capture u-unit.” First day there tomorrow and boy oh boy was James nervous.

James held his arm out and watched happily as the snowy owl hopped across without any fuss. He glanced at the nice woman when she said 'no biting', then focused on the owl once again smiling softly as he stroked it's feathers. Oh this one was perfect.

Hogwarts. She missed that place sometimes, especially because her best friend was there. But some times she was glad she had graduated, because she had been able to meet some other amazing people, had got eeylops now, which was awesome. "I did." She nodded, smiling as she remembered some of the memories. "Sometimes I wish I could go back." Because she had loved it so much. hehe. But then Iliana probably had some role in her wanting to back all the while. That would all change when Iliana left, but maybe they'd be able to spend more time together. hehe. She was sure of that.

"Wow....Hippogriff farm." That sounded really cool. "I bet that was interesting." Much more interesting that what she had done. Healing, and then owning a shop. Boring a little? But there were some owls, so that gave her some interest, when they weren't pooping all over the place. That was not so good. "Ooh...werewolves. You do have an interesting job." She reached into her pocket, pulling out some more owl pellets, and feeding the owl that he was stroking. "He's good isn't he?" Most of her owls were, you just had to find the right one.

Miles walked into Eeylops with a smile on his face. He just loved owls they were so interesting and yet he didn't know why he didn't own one. Looking at the various owls in the cages he smiled. Maybe he should get one? Hmmm... Maybe he should get one! A brilliant idea. Now which one should he choose.....

Owls, about the only animal that didn't disgust Riley. Ok well they could still be gross, a better choice of words would have to be they didn't terrify him. He opened the door to the shop and was immersed in the hooting and smell of the place. It smelled like birds, and if you didn't know what that smelled like, this boy didn't recommend you try and find out.

Making his way to the back cages, he started to ponder at the owls inside them. He needed one that could make it back home to Ireland, but still was cool enough to match his sense of still. He looked up when he realized he wasn't alone. It was a boy who looked older than him, and not annoying. Should he say something? "Soo owls.." was all he could think of.

Miles turned around as he heard someone behind him and then back at the owls. "Yeah that's what they are..." he said cheekily and then looked back at the boy with a smirk. "You looking to buy one?" Well he could have just been looking just to look.

Riley scoffed quietly to himself. Did this guy just get smart with him? The fifteen year old probably would have said something had this guy not been bigger than he was, being only 5' 5'' did have it's downsides. "Looking to buy, my mail won't get here by itself." he chuckled slightly.

Walking closer to the cages looking at a small grey owl, with white spots. He looked pretty cool.

Miles laughed at what the kid said and looked at the owl he was looking at. "Good point."

Smirking he looked at the different owls with a sigh, "I don't know which one I want." He turned toward the boy and held out his hand, "I'm Miles by the way.

Oooh. Customers. yey. With a big smile on her face To make her stomach? Vanessa moved from where she was stood, leaning on the counter, and down the row that the two customers were on, feeding a few of the owls as she went.
"Hello Boys." The small brunette smiled at the two, coming to a stop, behind where they were stood. Hopefully they would need some help, otherwise she would have just had a wasted trip. "Do you need any help?"

Good point? Well of course it was a good point! Would Riley have said it if it wasn't? Oh well maybe the owl...fumes had gotten to this boy, Riley was certainly feeling light-headed. He didn't know which one to get, did that mean he wanted Riley's help? Firstly he took the boy's hand in his and tried to apply the amount of pressure someone would to make sure their pressence was known, but being as tiny as he was, this guy was sure not to notice any effort on the fifteen year old's part.

"Pleasure, I am Riley Sinclair." Stopping, the boy took a second to try and evaulate Miles's age. "Do you go to Hogwarts?" Riley asked curiously. If he didn't he would just roll it off and say he was asking someone behind him. *shrug*

'Yeah, a gas mask.' Riley thought to himself, and then actually giggled slightly at the thought of what she would say if he had indeed said it out loud. "Yes I have picked out this little guy here, and just need to buy it and whatever stuff it will need." he wanted him to be confortable. "Oh and Miles, here, needs some assistance picking out an owl." he added as an afterthought. He would also help if the boy wanted him to still.

Alicia walked into EeylopsOwl Emporium. She had been allowed to purchase a companion for Hogwarts, but she hadn't found anything that suited her in Magical Menagerie when it struck her; An owl. She walked up to the counter, rang the bell, and waited for the shopkeeper on duty to help her find a new friend.

Nekoda entered the little Owl shop. Of course, she wanted a cat, but then again an owl would be useful for sending letters home to her daddy and her Uncle Sean. Because she was going to misssss them! And using the school owls was just a biggggggg no-no. Because the school owls could hold like, diseases and stuff, and they could be meannnnn! And they wouldn't be as cool as Nekoda's new owl was going to be.

Therefore. She was going to buy one. A brand, spanking new owl. Alllllll hers. Besides, her Uncle had given her plentyyyyyy of money to shop for allllllll her new school needs. An owl was a need...right?

Approaching the long rows, Nekoda glanced towards a big snowy owl. Well, she COULD pet them couldn't she? Poking a finger into the cage, she jumped back as the animal had the GALL to BITE her. "Owwwwiiiiiie!" Stupid owl. Hmph. Well she definitely wasn't going to buy THAT one.

Black Dandy had been in the same cage for well over a year and it was high time he got an upgrade. Originally, his cage had held a sort of Rococo flavor, consisting of swirling tin and lace-like leaves with white and gold paint. This year, Chaucer was feeling in a more Baroque sort of mood and demanded that both his wardrobe and bird accurately portrayed this transition of taste. This called for darker colors, a somber flourish and - above all - a more sophisticated demeanor. For Dandy, he figured a rusty look or a tarnished silver would do his dark feathers justice. Although not with him, he carried a very fine picture of the bird indeed on his person to properly decide upon a suitable carriage. He took it out now, looking at the black raven with admiration. It had taken some time, but they had finally become close during his venture abroad.

"Awww...isn't he cuttee!" Hello Hormones. Vanessa smiled, as she stroked that little owl. Ahh whatever stuff. Well he seemed like he cared about this owl. "Well you'll need a cage, and some owl pellets." She nodded with smile, always avaliable to help.
Oh and his friend needed help too. "Well Miles..." She was sure she recognised him, but didn't really know. "What type of owl do you want?"

Screaming. That was not too good in her shop. Walking over to the girl, she saw her pull her finger out of the cage. "That wasn't too clever sweetie." Vannie smiled, as she took the girl's hand, to make sure that the bite wasn't too deep. "You should be fine..." She was and she got bitten a lot. "But I wouldn't put your fingers in any more cages." She grinned at girl, before entering shopkeeper mode. "And do you need any help?"

This one looked a little weird. Feeding an owl absentmindely she kind of watched him, and her eyes widened as he got out a Raven. A Raven. Her shop was for OWLS. She didn't sell Ravens. If So it would be Eeylops Raven Emporium, but actually she sold owls. Talking about owls, the ones near the boy were looking a little scared, so she better go and deal with the situation.
"Hello." She smiled, looking at the Raven. "I'm sorry...but I see owls...not ravens." She wasn't a Raven dealer. "And your raven, however beautiful it is, is scaring my birds, and I would rather them be in a good condition to sell." She smiled apologetically at the boy. "Now...what do you require exactly? For I'm not too sure I'm suited to your birds needs."

He turned his dull grey eyes to the person addressing him, giving a small once over, as was his custom, before deigning to respond. "You'll fill my needs just fine, just fine. You see, it is quite difficult to procure a raven-centric sort of cage, and in any event owl cages provide much more space and have finer craftsmanship. Much finer, in fact. My current cage was designed for an owl - it's an antique, but I digress - it fits my Black Dandy WONDERfully. It's just that I'm a little tired of it now. I require something larger... preferably in a darker metal." He let the words roll off his tongue quickly. Good salesmen were excellent in picking up the key descriptors. "I'm terribly sorry about the state of your owls. Really, Dandy prefers chicadees anyway, so they have nothing to worry about truly."
