Department Head ~ Syd Wordsmith

The walls are high with bookshelves filled with books on both Magical and Muggle law. There's a plant on one of the shelves, a few pictures of Syd and a few big wig clients, and plenty of awards for excellence in prosecuting. The big desk stands at the back of the room, surrounded by shelves and there is a faint scent of honey in the air.

Syd looked over to Royda as he got up from his desk. She had to be tested... It could be the decisive evidence in the case.

"Ms. Dames, after you're done signing your sheet would you care to follow me over to Improper Use? I just need to verify something," he said coolly.

Royda grimaced, a little, then nodded. If this helped, she was ready to it. All the same, if he was doubting her, it did not feel good. She had really tried to tell him the truth, you know.

"I guess, man," she said politely, smoothing out the creases in her skirt. "If it, like, helps, I totally will."

"Very good Ms. Dames," Syd said, going for the door after filing the papers away. "I just need you to accompany me to the offices of the Improper Use of Magic. Standard procedure to get a report on the spell that was placed upon you."

If she had been under the Imperius Curse, he'd win the case hands down. The defense would have nowhere to go with that one... he hoped so anyway.

"Oh," Royda said, finally beginning to understand why she was required to accompany her. "I see."

She stood up, too, when he rose, and followed him as he made his way across the office, towards the door. She did not really have an idea where the place he had mentioned was - she had never been inside the Ministry, before - and so she was endeavouring to stay close to him.

She didn't want to get lost or end up near Corrandadada, again.

"Away we go then," Syd said, heading for the door. "Stay close if you don't want to get lost."

He opened the door and held it open for the woman. Hopefully this test would give him the weapon he needed.

Erin Knocked on Syd's Door. If anyone haid said she was the same woman that knocked on that door for the first time monthsa ago they would be mistaken. Worry for her niece and nephew had made her ill and she had had to take off from work for several weeks.

Syd, ready to leave to get the test done on Royda, saw Erin walk up. He figured she was just reporting back so it couldn't take longer than 5 minutes right?

"Hello there Ms. O'Connor. I'm actually on my way out for a second so feel free to wait here or leave me a note unless you're quick," he said, motioning to the woman in the room.

Royda, with her little, elegant steps in her high heeled, elegant shoes, tried to stick as close to Syd as she could - He was a good guy, she supposed, seeing how seemed pretty against Corrandadadada.

She paused, as Syd paused, too, before picking up her pace again. It seemed he was not going to wait to talk to the new arrival in depth, and she was sort of glad about it - The quicker she was out of this Ministry place, the better.

She hoped.

Actually it's Mrs. Mosier now. I promise to be brief. I need to submit my resignation Syd. Everything that Happened with my niece and nephew at school did me in and I feel the need to spend more time at home and with my husband." Erin replied softly.

"You're... resigning. I see, well Mrs., er, Moiser, just sign your form and leave it on my desk," he said, shaking her hand lightly. "We here wish you all the best."

He gave her a light pat on the shoulder and took Royda down the hall. Looks like someone would be getting a promotion.

erin sighned her form and left it on the desk along with her letter of Resignation, and quietly left the office and headed down to her Husband's office.

Alison fluttered to the office in a huge rush. This job was in a huge, ginormous, absolute rush and if she wanted to finish up this entire thing, she would have to work like a mad lady. She carried herself to the door, only to find that he was gone. Argh! Where could he be...? She asked herself, all in a flutter, but remembered that leaving such things as notes was a perfectly fine thing to do. She immediately pulled out a sheet of parchment and a quill out of a pocket, and wrote in her immaculate penmanship (although rather quickly) -

Dear Mr. Wordsmith,

I would like to let you know that a lot of details have been changed around in the process of speaking to the minister and other people. The following things have been changed.

- The wedding ceremony is now commencing in the Ministry itself, to an evening next week.
- The list of Aurors, Hit Wizards and other law enforcements must be completed.
- Every member of this department must attend the wedding.
- The minister and his bride-to-be is wearing black and purple clothing. Therefore, the uniforms must be coordinated to match the colors of that the minister is wearing.
- The minister's sister, Headmistress Rae and her husband Doyle Branxton are not welcome at the wedding. Please ensure that they are not allowed admittance.

Please send a memo back for the final list of all the aurors, hit wizards and etcetera protecting the wedding.

Alison pulled out her wand and using the magic, applied it to the door. Then, she immediately set off for the Liason's desks, wishing she wasn't pregnant right now. At least I don't show too much... She thought to herself, hauling herself in the lifts and going back up to the first level.

Nicoli had much to tell his head after all that had happened. To be honest he surely should not have left it so long. He rapped his knuckles on the door and as per usual, without waiting for an answer slipped into the room. "Good day, sir," he said waiting patiently for him to answer before he began his report. And what a report did he have!

Trism popped his blond head through the door of Syd's office. Over the last couple of months, Syd, Ivan, Yusuke, and Trism had gotten to be rathe good friends due to Syd's joining of the weekly game of exploding snap that was usually held at Ivan's flat.

"Hullllo?" Trism called into the office. There was no reply, so he stepped into the room revealing his usual teal robes and a plate of large cookies. They were a shade darker then his usual ones. "Huh, must be in a meeting," he said mostly to himself. He shrugged. "I guess I'll just leave these here on Syddalopsacopsoulus' desk," Syd's asking for Trim's cupcakes had given Trism the wrong impression - mainly that the man had liked them.

Today's baking experiment was supposed to be chocolate chip cookies. Sadly, Trism had miscalculated in his measuring again and mixed up his cinnamon with his allspice. At least the chocolate chips were eatable.

He placed a note next to the plate and then walked out of the room.

Syd returned to his office with Royda, about to get his stuff together to go see the judges. Then he saw his office was full again. Nick had shown up and Trism was there with... not more baked goods.

"Hello there you two. Can I help you?"

He picked up a cookie and gave it a sniff. It was... spicy? Then he turned and saw it was just Nick. That Trism was a ninja of bad baked goods.

Nicoli blinked as the odd man that he'd noticed earlier on during the welcoming meeting walked past him with a tray of cookies. Judging on the way he sauntered off, he must have thought they were pretty good.

Turning his attention back to Syd who'd just returned with a witness, "Oh, just an update on the happenings of my divisions," he said quickly. "Though if you're busy I'll come back later, or I could wait, either way." Nicoli moved away from the door to allow his Head to enter his office.

Alison was bustling about busily. She noticed that Mr. Wordsmith wasn't on and she decided to sticky-post the note on his desk. She left in and went scurrying back out. The note read the following -

Hannah walked into the head's office and saw that the head wasn't there. She went over mentally of what she had to say to him, and resigned to wait for him. She found a spot on the wall where she wouldn't be in the way and leaned on it, trying to make herself as comfortable as possible while she waited for Mr. Wordsmith.

Syd walked back into his office from having set up the wizengamot members with their new case. He saw two employees waiting for him and walked past them behind his desk.

"Hello there ladies," Syd said, looking at his desk that was now cluttered with notes.

Forrester was out and the Ministry was hosting a convention. Lovely. Syd sat down behind his desk and looked at the women. "Was there something you needed to tell me?"

"Yes, actually there is, Mr. Wordsmith. We have some new information on the soul-sucking laptops. What basically happened was that I did an identification spell on the pad (where you put your finger in order to move the mouse) because that seemed like the most logical place, since the muggles would have to touch that. A black light emissioned from it, then slowly it changed to grey then blinding white. I have no idea what that means, I've never seen it before, and niether has my colleague, Zoey," Hannah said, indicating to Zoey at her side. "We decided to come here."

Syd nodded to them and folded his hands on his desk. He pursed his lips a bit, looking at the memos sitting around and thought. What the heck could it be?

"I see. That's interestin'," he said, looking up at them. "Well I'm glad you've made some progress on it. Though that's no spell I've heard of. You were right to check the track pad. Obviously this spell needs contact in order to work. Have you tried to lift the spell? If you can't, I think a visit downstairs to the Department of Mysteries might be in order."
