| | Armour Gallery
One of the corridors on the third floor is home to a large collection of armour. Be careful not to touch or the caretaker, Finn, may give you detention to clean up your fingerprints (and everyone else's). Also, did you know the armour moves? It's also heavily armed.
The more you know. |

Coby Greer | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Hogwarts really was turning out to be a jaw-dropping place. The more she explored, the more she found - which of course was only right, but she hadn't expected to find THIS much stuff. Especially not so cool.
Poking her head around the door frame, Breigh stared in wide, eyed, starry wonder at the collection gathered before her. Schools weren't SUPPOSED to be fun, interesting or beckoning to one's sense of adventure. She took a tentative step in, marveling at how TALL these empty suits were. At least as far as she had heard, schools weren't SUPPOSED to be that way. Hogwarts however, was turning out to be quite the exception. She felt as if she could do all her learning OUTSIDE of classes and not have to flip open one textbook.
THAT, would be fun.
Pausing at the feet of one suit that looked like a man locked inside a hammered tin can, Breigh peeered up at the dark crevices where eyes were supposed to be. She wondered if the students ever got to wear these, and reenact battles, or use them as protective pieces as they mattress surfed down the moving staircases!
So much possibility, and the year had only just begun!

"Bet you could fit both yer legs in one of those big guy's boots, huh?" Mo was actually looking for the trophy room, but this one here was almost just as legit. Especially because those giant suits of armor looked like they were about to step off their pedestals and do some sort of synchronized marching.
Kickline? That would be cool.
"If you did that, I could do the other one, and then we'd race down the room hopping in the legs like very heavy metal potato sacks. I'd win, on account of me being bigger and stronger than you, but I'll let you help me name the new sport we just invented." He just invented, but he didn't want this new and unknown person to feel bad.
"I'm Mo, by the way."

"I'm Mo, by the way." Breigh blinked, turned halfway, blinked again and then turned all intent consideration to the boot in question. She even turned sideways so as to evaluate the possibility of her profile that way. A grin split her face: the boy was probably right. Not only that, but here was a person who KNEW how to have FUN! "Mo?" It seemed a strange name for a child, even for a boy, but it was short, simple and easy to remember: everything she liked in a name. Breigh nodded once to herself as she returned her attention to him and clasped her hands behind her back. "I'd like to accept your challenge and dare say I'd have a fair chance of beating you too."
She pulled her shoulders back and regarded him squarely. "I'm not as weak as I look." And she HAD been told she looked rather weak. "I've beaten my brother at arm wrestling several times." And no, she didn't believe it was because he had LET her.
At this point, Breigh realized that she had yet to give this challenger and bringer of opportunities of fun her name. Relaxing her shoulders she let out a huff of energized air. "And I'm Breigh."

"Stands for Marcus Orion, but my family called me Mo since I was a baby. You can call me whatever you want, I guess," he paced around the different suits of armor until he joined the girl on the other side of the room. It was nice to find someone as willing to invent new games as he was... although there were a remarkable number of people at Hogwarts who liked to be in the middle of whatever trouble was brewing.
"I dunno, Breeeeeeeeeeeigh," Mo put a hand to his chin and stroked his invisible beard. "I dunno. I think I'd beat you. Not 'cause you're so weak or whatever, but because I'm bigger than you." And probably stronger. "But I'll armwrestle you later, okay? Just to see if you can beat me. But for now, we should name this sport."

Breigh scowled and as soon as he was close enough, she gave the boy a good, HARD punch in the shoulder. "I'm not a horse, Orion." Take THAT for further doubts of her ability by size alone. "But if you're going to have that much difficulty with a simply name you can call me Bree or Anna."
Cue narrow, squinty eyes. She DARED him to try it again. "And size doesn't mean anything." She folded her arms and tilted her chin up. There was some muggle story about all that: size and victory and the little person winning, but she couldn't remember it at all. She wasn't much for muggle stories.
Her mood instantly picked up at the mention of an arm wrestle, and with her enthusiasm her scowl dissipated and her arms unfolded. He SEEMED like a fun kid to be around, so she SUPPOSED she could let the name thing go. Maybe... "What about Chariots of Fire?" Sure there weren't any chariots or fire about, but it seemed a amroury type of name.

Sure there weren't any chariots or fire about, but it seemed a amroury type of name. "Ouch," Mo winced more than convincingly when she punched him, and even though his arm smarted, he burst out laughing at her terrifying little face. He wasn't laughing at her, really. He was just laughing... no, he was laughing at her. But not because she was dumb or awkward. No, because she was so funny.
"Never said you were a horse, Bree-or-anna. Why Anna, though? Middle name? Mother's name? Father's name? Favorite fictional character?" HMMM? That was almost as intriguing as Mo, or as her calling him Orion. If her middle name was Anna, they'd be Anna and Orion from here on out.
But for her information, size meant that he could pick her up and put her inside a suit of armor. He wouldn't, but he could. He had the ability. "Chariots of Fire, unless a new name presents itself. Now then... which suit is the biggest?"

But for her information, size meant that he could pick her up and put her inside a suit of armor. He wouldn't, but he could. He had the ability. "Chariots of Fire, unless a new name presents itself. Now then... which suit is the biggest?" The one thing about her arms being uncrossed was that it meant she could easily and quickly raise her fists again, which was EXACTLY what she did when he started to laugh. WHY was he laughing? Her scowl returned and deepened, and her fists remained upheld, but she didn't strike. Not unless he said something incredibly smart-mouthed....
She had to blink at his question. It startled her to say the least, that such a well-thought out answer would come after laughter that she had originally thought had been intended to wound. Her fists lowered only slightly. "It's my middle name: well, Allison is, but Anna seems simpler...And nicer than Allie." And no, she wasn't exactly sure where the simplification that didn't exactly work, had come from. It just was.
With the dedication of Chariots of Fire to their newly invested, but not yet tested, game Breigh finally lowered her fists. She peered around quizzically at the wide variety of armor. "Well given YOU are the biggest, I suppose we will have to find one to accommodate your girth."
With a skip in her step, she moved over to a rather ornate, towering knight with plated armor that could have fit several of her inside, so it would HAVE to be big enough to fit his BIG size he was so proud of. "There's this."

"No, Bree will have to work, because I cannot call you a nickname that doesn't make sense. You don't even properly know why you want me to call you Anna. I should call you something else entirely, if we're just going to make up names. Gretchen or Hildegard." Because horrid German names were obviously the way to go when in doubt.
He followed her, though, this girl called Breigh and Bree and Anna and Allison. And Gretchen. "Yeah. Yeah, this'll do nicely. Excuse me while I borrow your legs, Sir Knight," Mo gave the gigantic statue a polite bow before attaching himself to the leg of one of the suits of armor. Properly stuck, it was. How did these things unattach? "I think you called me fat, Bree. Not sure if I'm supposed to be offended or not."

Coby Greer | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Breigh put her hands on her hips and FROWNED at the boy. If he wanted to get so TECHNICAL about names, it was a wonder that he didn't start asking why the sun was called the sun and a fork a fork...okay perhaps that WAS taking it a little out of proportion, but the question still stood: when did ANY name make ANY sense? Parents may as well have picked them out of a hat.
Kind of like the sorting hat at Hogwarts. Hmmm. Now there was a thought. "Just don't go saying my name like you're calling a horse again." Because Mr. Tall had plenty of other tender spots where she could pact a punch. Her nose wrinkled. "Or any of those other names." She really didn't like them: they sounded like they belonged to old women under bonnets.
But all things of name consideration were swept aside with the boy's rather graceful bow - which made Breigh's brow twitch in suspicion of his upbringing. Dropping onto her hands and knees, she crawled up onto the display stand and peered down at the armored feet, wondering if perhaps there was a catch there. "Isn't the offense all up to you, Orion?" She tentatively poked the crevice between armor and wood. "I don't see why you should be asking ME if YOU should be offended: kinda a personal choice really. I was merely repeating your words about you being the largest of us."
At this she paused and craned her neck around the leg of armor, glancing at Mo rather sheepishly. "Is Orion okay? If I call you that, that is?" Cause she knew it was okay being his name and all, but being called by it was something else and given she didn't like being called certain things, she supposed she should extend the same courtesy to this potential ally of fun.

"I wouldn't call a horse like that. I'd be like 'hey, horse, come on over here and let me ride you and stuff,'" Mo informed Bree, even as he continued to cling to the armor like a barnacle. "Unless I knew the horse's name, then I'd call it by its name."
Obviously.
"And yeah, I don't care what you call me. I mean, it would hurt my feelings a bit if you called me something pejorative, but I don't mind being called Orion." He dropped from the suit of armor, rubbing his arms where the metal rivets had been digging into his flesh. So that hadn't worked, which was a bummer.
"You think they're charmed to stay together?"

Bennett Young International Cooperation | Muggle Studies Homework Post #5 Sardine VIP || Shark Attack! || D A R T E R || Captain Oblivious Anya now had to make one more poster. And she also had to find the perfect spot for said poster. Now... where to put it...?
... ohhhhhh. Hehehehehe. She had an idea. The armor gallery!
And so the Gryffindor skipped off with her poster to where the suits were gathered. (And she didn't mean the Professor Astronomy dude type suits.)
Then, for the last time, she placed her poster on the floor. With a "Geminio" and a flick, she found herself looking at another poster.
She taped it up to one of the suits of armor. She grinned at her handiwork. She then grabbed her original poster. She'd... send it to Carter or something. As for now, she was done. She'd hung up five duplicates. Now to head back to the common room for a well deserved nap.

Figuring he'd keep his posters closer to ground level, Dylan entered the Armor Gallery. Tons of people came here to chill...So, he felt it was a good choice. Also, as he stepped further into the room, the Slytherin spied a Carter Phillips poster.
Well, that was alright. It could stay.
Smirking, he pulled his last poster and searched for the best position, best stretch of wall, best lighting...All the deciding factors on where he'd stick this one. Deciding on a place in a short amount of time, he broke out his wand and said "Adhaero!'
Once the Captain was pleased that everything was perfect, due to his perfectionist nature, he stepped back and admired. It looked pretty great, displayed with all the shiny, polished armor surrounding it. Yes, Dylan was smug and pleased.
Hopefully he'd done his part in the Debate race...
With another smirk, the Slytherin was gone...heading back down to his common room to finish a potions paper.
