Uh....What kind of accent do I have? Well when I talk to people from other states they say that they can tell I come from California. But I'm not sure what that means. So I guess I don't have an accent. Is there even such thing as a California accent? I just think those people were fibbing. Totally! |

Ha! I'm not the only one who's been told I have a 'California' accent. I think our only difference in accent from the rest of america is we really stress our R's. I've been told that I sometimes slip into a "spanglish" accent which is how people who speak both spanish and english tend to sound. Think Cheech Marin, only not as bad, lol. I think it just happens if you're raised around spanish and english.

I studied/stayed in England, so i still have that BBC accent. Though i love nothern accents, they were harder to pick up.
Being an English teacher, i find my accent helpful, students are better prepared for their Cambridge examinations (FCE, CAE, CPE), because all the materials have the same BBC accent. I travel to England as often as i can to refresh it..
I love the actors' accents in the Potter films..

| Ultimate Potterite Original original I suppose I have a more New York-ish kind of accent since I live near it...but I don't say caw-fee as coffee or something like that...I dunno, I have a strange mix, I suppose... I do use a British accent when I read though |

Well, for me all this thing about accents is just a puzzle. I'm from Greece and although I thought I had a British accent when I went to London few years ago someone told me I have an American one. What can I say!!!

my accents change real easy,i've lived in west yorkshire all my life so i have a slight yorkshireness to my accent, but sometimes it goes into real broad yorkshire - yorkshire slang and everything lol. though when i stayed with a friend in Florida, after 2week i had started to develop a southern drawl! lol and i still keep using little phrazes i picked up there without realisin, accent and everythin lol

| I speak with a more-than-slight British accent (it used to be stronger before it became Americanized). However, with certain words, my accent is more deinfinitive. People ask me, "Why do you speak funny?" and I retort, "Why do you speak funny?" I suppose some people don't quite grasp the fact that what may seem like an accent to someone else may not seem like an accent to the person said accent belongs to.
My family is mostly from Brighton, England, and most of my family speaks with full0on British accents. I suppose later on in life I'll regain my full accent. =D
