I'm from Arkansas, so I have a southern accent. And no, I don't sound hick. I don't dress hick, either. Some people think that just because some people are from the southern US means we dress in overalls, go barefoot, and ride our horse to school. Just thought I'd clear this up that we don't |

I hate it how people judge you by where you come from. Like my friends who are Molly (thats just a coinsidence)and Shannon they are from Maryland. They also have a little brother, Shay, and Shannon and Shay sound like NYers and Molly at first sounds like she moved from England. I have a Nyers accent but kinda not like a Brooklyn one just a typical NYers accent.

I have a slight Midwestern US accent, but for the most part it fits into the generic, newscaster "accent-free" version of American English. Of course, to an outsider English speaker, I have an American accent...

Accent free most of the time, but when I am around my Nona and my Italian family I pickup their accent and when I am around my moms family it's Scottish...I sounded really funny when I was little.

Well, I wouldn't consider it an accent.. as it'sjust how I and all the people that live around me talk.. But, I guess you could say I have a Minnesooootan accent
Apparently we tend to talk fast, and slur our words together. At least thats what my relatives from California say when I go out there. They tell me to slow down a lot.
Although, thankfully I don't say 'pop'. I acutally shudder when I hear other people say it, which sucks, 'cause this entire state says it. Ugh!!

I have an aussie accent. Its so funny when people try to do an australian accent because they make us out to be bogans (look it up.) I love how people think we have kangaroos in our backyards because guess what, we don't and yes we wear singlets and shorts but its because its hot here most of the time.

we have 3 main accents here: the south, the north and the center. I got the center accent the one from the city
But when I speak english, I know I have a slitght accent. My friends calls it 'Edinburgh accent', although I don't really agree. I've never been to Scotland.
It's not british accent, though....

I have a southern accent, as in American from the south....but it is subtle. When I speak to Yankees, that would be folks from the North, after about 5 mins I subconciously imitate them. My husband has an Irish accent and my daughters pronounce about 25% of their worlds w/ his accent. Quote:

I have an American accent; note: NOT an NY accent. When all the Irish people we know imitate and American accent, it always comes out as backwoods hick...really really bad!!!
