Hey Welcome to Snitchseeker, all that... Anyway, I'm Kristin, and one of your friendly mods of the month, representing August. And I'm writing this at almost 3 am, so excuse any babbling. xD
A little about me and SS: I've been a member here since December 2007, joining upon the suggestion of another member of Snitchseeker who I'd become friends with on Dissendium.com, and been involved here ever since. Starting with the RPs, where I had two terms as the Ravenclaw prefect, then one as Quidditch Captain. And when the Diagon Alley RP started, I joined that as first a shopkeeper assistant at Gringotts, then moved on to shopkeeper of Madame Malkin's, which I still am now, along with the supervisor of the north side of the street. I also am involved in the Ministry RP, as a member of the department of Magical Law Enforcement, and have been the Divination professor in the school RP for the last two terms.
Outside of the RPs, I'm also one of your lovely mods right here in Platform 9 3/4, and I wrote for the site magazine (and was head writer for), Seeker of the Snitch, until it was dissolved fairly recently due to time issues. I'm also the sponsor of the Arthur and Molly Weasley fan club, and am a member of quite a few others.
In case you haven't figured it out by now (or noticed my tag), I'm a bit of an RP addict, but luckily that only began after I was done with schooling. Yes, I am an adult, with a bachelor's degree in art, emphasis in art history. Although, I don't use my degree much, seeing as I'm a lowly sales assistant at the Kohl's near my house. My house where I sadly live with my mother (who doesn't appreciate my being just this side of an insomniac) and my cat, Hermione. I love to write/create the multitude of characters who populate my brain, read (of course), watch television/see movies, draw... I've known how to cross-stitch, crochet and knit for a while now but haven't actually created anything lately...
Now to set you loose. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll try to answer the best I can. (There are some types of questions I struggle with. Just to warn you) And definitely, have fun and keep aware of the rules. Wouldn't want to start things off on the wrong foot.
SilverTiger? very Intresting .. As for you being an adult, nice lol.. It just comes to show even adults can escape Into this wonderful magical world Jk has created! <3 How ARE YOU?!?!
I was wondering if you heard about the actual qudditch teams that are across the World. If you have or even if you haven't , What position would you play if you could be on an actual qudditch team?

Another question I've answered before. But nothing against you of course. Like I've said, my favorite character is possibly Ginny, although I'm not really sure I actually have a favorite character. But I relate to her the most.

Yep. And I don't really know, as I have a mental block against favorites. Although I could say HBP, as that was when I really started reading the books. (As in, when that book came out, not the movie. And I did actually still read them in order, but that's the first one I bought. If that makes sense.)

Favorite couple? Probably between Harry/Ginny, Hermione/Ron, and Lupin/Tonks. But I can't really choose one.

To be honest, I love both the books and the movies. And while that could seen to be a cop-out, I really can't choose. I have issues with that
, as well as favorite book/film. (see above if you need an explanation. )

There are plenty of people on SS who know how to make signatures. You can find most of them
in here (any of the threads marked "request" are usually open for requests. Although you ned to keep aware of the forum rules, as well as the individual thread/graphics-maker's queue so you don't request when they're not open.)
I actually used to make them myself, although I lost the Photoshop that i had a while back (my computer crashed and I had to replace it. And couldn't get authorization to install it on my new computer. It's kind of a long story.)

Observant. But anyhow, there are a lot of RPG sites out there that you can find. I know for a fact that several SSers have them (I have one I've been working on for a while, but it's not open yet), but seeing as I'm not sure exactly what type of RPs you like, I'm not sure what to suggest.
Here on SS, though, outside of the Wizarding World RPGs (Hogwarts, Ministry and Diagon Alley), there's also the Knockturn Alley RPGs (here), which you can explore once you're a full-fledged member, which it seems will be soon.

So anyway, is there a pairing in Harry Potter that you can't stand? Also, which death were you most upset about?
Thank you. And "Pigzy"'s kind of a cute name as well.
Mmm, I don't know if there really was any pairing that I absolutely couldn't stand. Although I will say I'd been pretty much a Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione shipper from the first times those were mentioned/alluded to. So any of them that put those into question didn't sit well with me. (Or the way Bellatrix almost fawned over Voldie in the movies, but that's another story altogether. ) And most of the deaths hit me, sometimes only upon second readings. I know I totally cried when I reread Dumbledore's death in HBP, when I was sitting in a coffee shop. Awkward, although I don't think anyone noticed. And most of the deaths in DH hit me hard. Hedwig, Moody, Dobby, Fred, Lupin/Tonks...

Interesting question. In the course of the books, or just in total? Oddly enough, I think Lupin/Tonks, even though it was never really gone into in the books.
And I don't think I really have any one favorite book out of the series. I have all of them. Even the ones outside of the seven.

I'm glad you find those things about me interesting, and of course. <3
I'm doing quite well, actually.

Nah, I have nothing against it, I just don't have one. I love too many movies to choose.

In fact, I have heard about them, and I think they're completely awesome. I'd totally try out for one if I could, but I don't know what position I'd be best at. I've never really been the sports person, and I'm pretty sure the positions I was best at in the RPed Quidditch here on SS qualify me.

I do like to write, although I have to admit most of what I write is inspired by tv shows, etc. (Mostly fanfics, and even those haven't been worked on in ages.) I also have a poem I wrote for a school project (in high school) about vampires. Pre-Twilight, but post-Buffy (actually, during-Buffy).

Hi! Nice to know there are other post-bachelor's folks here. I was afraid when I joined a few days ago that I might have joined a children's site (I didn't really look around and just blindly joined) and feel foolish or unwelcome once I stared looking around and posting in the forums. I graduated 2 years late from college in Summer 2006 and have been working at a university since 2007.
Are there very many other post-college members here on SS?
Also, as a fun added note--one of the graduate students in our department used Harry Potter in one the courses she taught for the Composition department here on campus. How cool would it have been to have Harry Potter as part of your assigned reading in college?

What you think about Severus Snape (when he lost Lily and go to member of the Voldemort)?
Can i be curious and ask what is your Pottermore account name?
Mine is SilverRain48 , I found the magical quill & registered first day (but still waiting Welcome Letter email)
Hello,
I'm new here (and new in general to forum sites) if you had any tips/advice? And do you know anyone who has received their Pottermore Welcome letter?
Also, I would like to express my understanding of your frustrations with Yahoo and Pottermore. It took 21 hours for my Pottermore verification email to arrive! Talk about the most stressful 21 hours. I have a secondary account on Hotmail just in case this Yahoo problem persists.

Hi! Art?
In general I love most of the obvious characters. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Hagrid, Luna, Neville, Dobby... I also rather like Firenze, for a random inclusion.

Yep. We're around, but it can seem a bit overwhelmingly younger people sometimes. Everyone here's pretty amazing though, no matter what age. And I actually took pretty much six years to graduate from college, in 2007.
There are several (at least), but for the most part it doesn't necessarily seem to be a topic of conversation, so it usually takes searching to know who is or who isn't.
And that's pretty amazing too. I can't say I had many teachers who used HP as part of their syllabus. There was a guest speaker once in one of my art history classes who had Harry Potter glasses (round frames in black), though. That made it hard for me to really focus on the lecture.

*nods* Yes, there are. There's the Wizarding World RPGs, which involve the site Sorting and Ministry placement that occurs after sorting closes (aka the Hogwarts, Ministry and Diagon Alley RPGs). And there are the RPs in the Knockturn Alley forum, which encompass a much wider set of topics and plotlines, in some cases not even necessarily HP-related (and there are several different subforums there, for every type of RPer. And rules for the forum are clearaly posted.)
Occasionally, for special events, the site also holds RP events, as well. So there are plenty opportunites for RPing, but there is also just as many things for non-RPers to do.

Hello
That fluctuates. It usually ends up at least a couple hours a day, but that's just me. (And commonly that time is late at night, unless I have a day off from work, when I spend more time on SS) There certainly isn't a required amount of time anyone needs to be on SS, to enjoy the site.

Nice to meet you as well, and you think of quite the intriguing questions.
I'm not really sure I understand this correctly, but for the most part I think the Snape/Lily story is quite poignant. And kind of sets Snape up as the anti-hero, especially as we don't get to learn of any of the reasoning behind his actions until the end.
And, seeing as I have my Pottermore account name on my profile... I'm CatSpirit132. And I'd imagine your SS name was possibly inspired by your own?
I actually found the Quill on days one, two and three, but seeing as I ended up stuck in the issue regarding Yahoo mail with the first two account names, I ended up using another email account for the third try and got everything validated, etc. (And I actually still haven't gotten any emails regarding the first two attempts.) I hope it all works out for you.

Hi!
That depends on who I'm talking to. Or the subject, as for the most part I'm much more open with people about HP in general than about my involvement here on SS. But in general I answer them honestly. Sometimes quite in depth, if it's regarding something from the books and movies. (I can babble pretty well when I want to)

Nice to meet you. And I think the RPG here is pretty amazing. It;s not really difficult for people to jump into, even though there's a pretty elaborate storyline in place, history, that sort of thing. It's usually pretty easy to at least get an idea of what's going on, and everyone is really welcoming.

Well, I can't really speak of the Virtual Quidditch that has been part of WWW, but in the Hogwarts RP, it's set up as more of a trivia challenge. With Quaffle questions set for the Chasers and Keepers, Bludger questions for the Beaters, and then Snitch questions. And the game ends after three Snitch "catches".
It's easier to understand once you're able to get into the RP, and view the archives, as most of the matches are in there.

Of my own, not really. Beyond one sketch of Hogwarts that was created for SS, as part of the Hogwarts RP homework one term. But I also have a photograph of a painting someone I knew in college was working on of Kreacher. I don't have one of the finished piece, however.

Unfortunately, no. I've never tried doing sketches of HP characters, as I've always been more of the type to need a model to get a realistic sketch. (And, ironically, the idea of drawing the HP characters never occurred to me. )

Hi Cinn. I love that I'm one of your favorite people, by the way.
Way to stump me. As I really don't know. Probably one of the X-Men or something, but I'm really sadly lacking in my superhero knowledge. (Now, if you counted Buffy as a superhero, then that would make this much easier to answer. )

Well, welcome to SS, and I'm glad you decided we were the place you decided on to try forum sites out. Advice? Just exploring the various forums, and deciding where you feel most comfortable, probably. And don't be afraid to ask questions, of any of the mods. We're all here to help you out.
And, at least yours arrived. Neither of the two I should have gotten to that account ever did. So 21 hours isn't bad.

Is it odd to say I'm not sure how you'd RP on Twitter? And this is coming from someone who has two Twitter accounts for different RP characters. xD

Hello SilverTiger!
Yeah i was inspired by Severus Snape´s patronus (what was silver doe) and when pottermore site let me choose SilverRain name i begin like it more and more and i think it´s perfect nickname and i registered it in here SS as well
Have you yet received second email (what let you know that: You have been selected for early entry into Pottermore & they activate accounts between mid-August and the end of September)?
I yesterday get that email , and now i have to wait 3rd email.
