Hey Welcome to Snitchseeker, all that... Anyway, I'm Kristin, and one of your friendly mods of the month, representing August. And I'm writing this at almost 3 am, so excuse any babbling. xD
A little about me and SS: I've been a member here since December 2007, joining upon the suggestion of another member of Snitchseeker who I'd become friends with on Dissendium.com, and been involved here ever since. Starting with the RPs, where I had two terms as the Ravenclaw prefect, then one as Quidditch Captain. And when the Diagon Alley RP started, I joined that as first a shopkeeper assistant at Gringotts, then moved on to shopkeeper of Madame Malkin's, which I still am now, along with the supervisor of the north side of the street. I also am involved in the Ministry RP, as a member of the department of Magical Law Enforcement, and have been the Divination professor in the school RP for the last two terms.
Outside of the RPs, I'm also one of your lovely mods right here in Platform 9 3/4, and I wrote for the site magazine (and was head writer for), Seeker of the Snitch, until it was dissolved fairly recently due to time issues. I'm also the sponsor of the Arthur and Molly Weasley fan club, and am a member of quite a few others.
In case you haven't figured it out by now (or noticed my tag), I'm a bit of an RP addict, but luckily that only began after I was done with schooling. Yes, I am an adult, with a bachelor's degree in art, emphasis in art history. Although, I don't use my degree much, seeing as I'm a lowly sales assistant at the Kohl's near my house. My house where I sadly live with my mother (who doesn't appreciate my being just this side of an insomniac) and my cat, Hermione. I love to write/create the multitude of characters who populate my brain, read (of course), watch television/see movies, draw... I've known how to cross-stitch, crochet and knit for a while now but haven't actually created anything lately...
Now to set you loose. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll try to answer the best I can. (There are some types of questions I struggle with. Just to warn you) And definitely, have fun and keep aware of the rules. Wouldn't want to start things off on the wrong foot.
Hey there!
I know what it's like to work at Kohls. I used to work at Sears. It's a pain in the butt! The part I hated the most was the pressure to get people to open credit. I don't know if Kohls is the exactly the same in that manner. But hang in there!
I can't wait to RP with you as I'm a mad RPer myself!
Hey, do you have any advice for someone who might pursue an art/ history/ art-history in a year? It's okay if you don't, haha.
"I didn't realize that once your registration for Pottermore was excepted you have to keep trying. Bummer, I thought I just had to wait for my welcome email."
Wait wait wait whaaaaat?! Is this true? I registered for Pottermore on day three and I thought that I just had to wait for my welcome email to arrive... I thought that's what they said on the website. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
PS. I'm sorry if I'm spamming right now by being off-topic, but this is serious business!

Hi. I'm okay. You?
Anyway, to answer your other question: First step is becoming an official member (getting 10 posts either in Platform 9 3/4 or the news threads, without spamming). Then, you would take the Sorting quiz, which should appear sometime around August 12th, this time around. So you're coming in at a good time. An announcement will be posted once it's open again, and once you've taken it, you just have to wait to hear what house you've been sorted into. Which shouldn't take too long.

Another good question. I'm not really sure if I have one, but I'd guess Harry/Ginny. Just because I've always liked Ginny as a character, and then her interactions with Harry.

A bit of a mini interrogation there. Anyway, you're lucky I don't have an issue admitting my age. I'm 28, and I'll be 29 next February. and regarding the second question, it has it's ups and downs. *nods* But I geenrally get along with her, so it works out.

We look forward to seeing you venture into our RP world then. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy it.
People-wise, the SSRPs are pretty extensive, as more of the members of the site participate than not (I think. There's quite a few participating at least). And regarding time, no. Not really. Obviously you can get more involved in things when you can be on, than not, but nothing is required other than interest. And obviously you have that.

I have several pictures of Hermione. One used to be posted here on SS, but it seems the thread might have gotten shuffled around recently. this seems to be the most recent picture I have uploaded to photobucket, though. (And even that is at least a year or two old)
this was her shortly after I got her. So at around six or so weeks old. She's four years old now, as of the beginning of June.

Actually, probably not. Although I wouldn't mind it. As I've mentioned elsewhere here on SS, I actually always related to Ginny in more ways than Hermione. I just liked Hermione for my cat's name better.

Not really here on SS, as the site is open to younger members that probably shouldn't see things like that. There are reasons why there are the somewhat strict rules as to what we can or can't talk about on-site and in the RPs.

Personally? I just gained it fairly recently. Essentially, last December, in one form or another. But yes, I do enjoy it.

Well, there isn't really a question in here, but yes, they do try and urge us to get people to open credits. I'm not pressured quite as much as some, since I'm not actually on registers often, but yes. I think that's generally a common retail thing.
And I look forward to seeing you in the RPs then.

Advice for someone looking into pursuing an art/art history degree? The best advice I can think of is that if you really want to, go for it. I know I enjoyed it, even if I haven't found much to do with my degree after graduation.
And regarding Pottermore, I can't say I heard that. As far as I know, once you've validated an account (as in, you finished the registration, got an email with a validation link and clicked on it to validate the account), then you shoudl receive a welcome email eventually. I know they've said that not everyone necessarily will get in at the same time, but continuing to try just would give you more accounts for the site. I don't know if anyone else has any different information.

And another interrogator.
I have in fact been Quidditch captain once, but I can't say if I'd do so again only because working that in around my work schedule can get a bit hectic (not to mention, I'm hardly ever around for the matches anymore. )
Age: 28 (as mentioned earlier in this post xD)
favorite color: Probably teal, although I really like purple as well, seeing as amethyst is my birthstone.
I chose the name SilverTiger because when I was on Dissendium, I always said my patronus would be a tiger (a white tiger, although that's not really relevant when thinking about patronuses). And when I joined SS, that idea was what came to mind when I thought about possible usernames.
And yes, I do like Luna. She's another one of the characters I've always enjoyed, both when reading the books and watching the movies.

I've been a member since the end of 2007. *clarifies* but anyway, SS has changed insofar as the RPs have expanded (the Diagon Alley RPG didn't exist when I first joined, and the Ministry RPG has expanded quite a bit), and other forums have shifted and such. Other than that, it's stayed as awesome as when I first came here.

Hm, let's see... because I'm curious, how many RP characters have you had at Hogwarts in total and what were their names? Don't judge your charries have cool names and I'm just a creep that's interested in these things.

*pets creepy- Mel* Just Hogwarts charries? I've had five now: Rhiannon Elizabeth Todd, Elizabeth Anne Andrews (now Chambers), Adrienne Renée Mercer, Grayson Melinda Kelly and (Professor) Renée Arabella Bishop.
testing to see if I remembered all of them?

Hi, pleased to make your acquaintance. I'm glad there is someone near my age and in a similar situation. At least you have employment though. I have a degree in math with a minor in chemistry; should be a cinch to get a job, right? Wrong! I'm currently typing from my parents' basement, my current residence, and considering a job at Blockbuster.
I totally had an awesome question for you but now can't remember it. I'll have to post it if it comes back to me. In the mean time, do you hope there will be another Harry Potter book or a book based in the same magical world? Or do you think it ended well and should be left just that way?

It's nice to meet you as well. And thank you.
In fact I do have my Pottermore account all validated, etc. There was no way I was going to not try and get in right now.

Nice to meet you too, and that's an interesting question. I've gotten rather attached to Ravenclaw, honestly, but before SS I'd always been sorted into Gryffindor. And, there are times where I feel pretty Slytherin-like as well. So yeah, I really don't know.

Honestly, I generally just enjoy books in general. My current semi-obsession is with the All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness, though. (first book being A Discovery of Witches, but book two comes out next year sometime.)
I've also read all the Twilight books, the first three in the Mortal Instruments series, quite a few of the House of Night series, the Inheritance cycle (Eragon, etc.), all of Jane Austen's books, and quite a few of Shakespeare's plays. And I'm planning on reading the Hunger Games soon. That's just a short list. I've read a lot.

I hate to say one or the other, but probably Dan or Emma. As they both seem to be trying to branch out the most, do a lot of different things.

Pleased to make your acquaintance myself. Even though I can't say I agree with the subjects you studied in school xD And it seems most everyone is strugging with finding a job, which is yet another reason why, even though there's times I don't like going to work, I'm happy at least to be getting some kind of paycheck.
I'm sure you'll remember it eventually, and to answere the question you did post... I do hope that the HP world can continue somehow, but I almost think it would be more interesting if there were books either exploring the Marauders era or expanding on the epilogue of DH. (i.e. stories of the children at Hogwarts, that sort of thing.)
I do think the orginal series ended well, though. It wrapped everything up and left us knowing that the future was good for the trio, etc.

As far as I can tell, I will. I have the bad habit of sort of pre-reading books (I own a copy of the first book in the trilogy). But yes, it's very different from HP.

Well, seeing as I still haven't narrowed down what aspect of costume design I'd like to do, working in the film industry could very well happen (and I wouldn't be against it). Writing a book... now that's a bit more iffy, as I have a hard time concentrating on something long enough. Hence why my second Buffy fanfic is still unfinished, like years after it was started. If I had a good idea for one, though, maybe.

Well I've already said before that my favorite character probably is Ginny, but I really don't know what character I'd want to be if I could. Maybe, oddly enough, McGonagall, because she's pretty awesome.
