2013: Meet PatInTheHat

Heeey, pretty blueish people!

I'm Pat, one of the admins here on Snitchseeker, and I'm excited that you get to meet ME this month, and I get to meet you TOO. Especially since this month makes it a WHOLE YEAR that I've been adminning. Don't worry, I already brought the cake and ice cream to celebrate. Specifically I'm admin for the Diagon Alley RPG, which means that I oversee everything that goes on in that crazy street and all the shopkeepers that permanently inhabit it.

Compared to a lot of the wonderful mods and admins up here I'm still pretty young, both in my position and my time here on the site. I joined back in December of '09 when I was home for the holidays and extremely bored since that was the winter all of my friends decided to abandon me. So naturally I took to the internet looking for entertainment and found it in SS. It was a little early for sorting, so the games forum was my first love on the site, but once I did get sorted... well, lets just say I had planned on ditching the site when January came around, and that obviously didn't happen.

My tag says Ravenclaw, but originally I was sorted into and still am at golden heart a Hufflepuff and had an absolute blast for seven terms playing a girl who practically radiated happiness and rapid badger pride. During that time, around April '10, I got asked to join the DA team as an assistant shopkeeper in the Owl Post Office that hadn't yet launched with the revamped Diagon Alley. I was lucky enough to join the Ministry of Magic RPG as it was also getting revamped a year later in March '11, as the DERP department head just a month before my school character became prefect for her house, four months before I was promoted to head of the owl post office in DA.

Just last year in March I was made mod of Diagon Alley, and that brings us to a complete circle of me becoming adminned that following September. It all looks like a LOT when typed out and put together like that, but I promise it's not. Heh.

In real life I'm just crazy random Pat. A girl with an unhealthy obsession with animals, food, the outdoors, and naps to name a few things. I've taken a hiatus from school to figure out what it is I want to do with the rest of my life. Currently I'm busy working at a veterinary hospital on the east coast of the United States. I'm a vet assistant/kennel attendant, which means I'm the behind-the-scenes mostly worker caring for all of the animals and doing virtually everything else that's needed of me (which is too much to list here). If I manage to have free time I love to mess around with my dogs, family, and friends. Or you can find me doing something crazy fun like kayaking or hitting up a rock climbing wall.

I could go on about myself, but really I've done enough of that already, and probably took away some of your questions. So no more. Wanna know something? Ask me! I'll answer almost anything assuming it's not too personal and follows site rules.

1. ONLY one? That's not fair. Since it's NOT fair, I'm gonna answer this MY way since it's my thread and you didn't specify the type of SS!OTP. I have two. 1) SSRPG!OTP.... if I HAD to pick JUST ONE RIGHT NOW ON THE SPOT.... it'd have to be Jim and Tuney. Like... I need this ship to happen. I can't function properly until it does. Are they seeing this? The right people? They need to so I can function properly. *eye twitch* 2) SS!OTP for members I ship with SS.... actually I can't do this one. I think we'd all end up fighting over who'd get shipped with the site. And I'd win.

1. I put way too much thought into this question. Like it's a SERIOUS question. I'm gonna pick one of my favorites, border collie, assuming this is a fictional world and I have both the space and time for such a highly intelligent breed that also looks so so pretty. Also, they don't have that many heath issues, which is a huge bonus.

2. Just tried all of this, and no. Sadly I cannot lick all the odd parts of my body.

3. The baby monkeys still top the list on this one. It's always weird when we get ducks cause we don't do birds, but the monkeys... I mean come on, that's just weird and totally awesome.

4. Hard question, cause I don't feel like I've grown all that much as an RPer. I've only been doing it for four years which isn't all that long comparatively speaking. I guess Dora helps me? She's so different from all of the characters that I play, and I never really know what to expect with her in so many situations. Most of the time I try silencing her or arguing to get her to NOT do things, but we both know that never works.

5. The green one, for the sole fact that green is my favorite color.

6. You broke that scale, lemonade. I got a new one and it reads 1000.

1. I think giving pets names that are too human are weird. Like we had a dog today named Jill. Jill. Steve. It sounds so human, pets are too awesome for human names.

1. Luna, Doby, Snape, Hagrid, McGonagall - all the hufflepuffs - everyone else. In that order. I gotta admit though, I was one of those that didn't like Snape until the last book because I was certain he was evil, but now I just adore that hero. Also, that's more than five I think oops.

One of my dog's name is Franklyn, but I inherited him with that name so it doesn't count. I don't call him that though, he has a million nicknames.


It's a thing here, shortening names. You'll find we SSer's can be lazy about using full ones. XD And those are GOOD favorites.

1. Peter Pettigrew, and I actually can't think of five. I just know I REALLY don't like him. Never have and never will.

2. Another question I put way too much thought into lol. Like I have a mental list of all the pets I'd like to have in my lifetime that's constantly changing. I used to want a monkey when I was growing up, and a tiger and also wolves and a falcon. I was really into wildlife growing up. And I had a rat phase once apon a time. HMM. Right now I guess I would love to have a turtle. Turtles are cool yo. And hardy pets, seemingly easy to care for and afford and they don't smell. And just... turtles.

3. Hard question. I don't find many animals weird, or haven't ran into many weird ones, just oddly amazing. The weirdest one I've ever worked with was a tamandua, which is a kind of anteater.

1. Depends on my mood, right now I'm still obsessed with The Fault In Our Stars. But also, I'll never get tired of reading Where The Red Fern Grows, and I even carry around a really old and tattered copy from when I was a kid. I just have sooooooo many feels thinking about those two books right now. I need a moment.

2. Another thing that depends on my mooooood. At the moment I'm becoming a fan of indie rock.

3. No, but a LOT of my friends have and one of my sisters have as well. I'm too lazy to make the drive an meet him. XD

5. I'd move to the beach in a heartbeat. That's my actual goal in the next five years. Or Australia cause that's the biggest childhood dream of mine, to visit there. Or New Zealand cause they seem so zen down there and it's beautiful and more childhood dreams babeh. But almost none of the other US states except for mine, cause when I was a kid taking geography, I mentally marked off the ones I would never live in for various reasons.

HI DUDE.

1. I tend to be a favorite of firsts, cause I like seeing how things start out, so Sorcerer's Stone is a favorite by default. And there was just a feels overload with Deathly Hallows, so it's a favorite too. But the top fav HP book of mine is POA cause of all the marauder stuff. It's also my favorite HP movie too.

2. I'm just gonna stop thinking on this one and say what my heart wants. It wants a monkey. Two of them. One named Rafiki, and the other Abu.

3. I don't actually get to watch much TV now-a-days since I've become so busy and can never stay awake through any episode, but sometimes I watch stuff with other SSers, and of those shows (that I'm behind on oops) I'll say my current two favorites are New Girl and The Almighty Johnsons.

4. '1,500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat. And 15 minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.' - MIB. I just did NOT appreciate this quote as a child, and I've been watching bits of the movie when it's come on tv lately, which has been often. So this is my current favorite.

5. It was hard picking all the stuff in the previous numbers cause they constantly change for me, but not as much as THIS. I love watching movies, there's too many to pick from. I guess I'll stick with my current mood and go with a tie between Tangled and The Little Mermaid.

1. I was studying Biology with intentions of becoming a Veterinarian, but I figured out early on that it's not the path I want to take. Let's just ignore the fact that I work at a animal hospital now. XD Love it, don't wanna do it forever.

2. Potatoes. Eggs. Dairy products. Pasta. Gatorade. Not in that order. Was I to only pick one? If so potatoes. Heh.

3. I've ALWAYS wanted to visit Australia as a kid, for so many reasons. And I still do. ONE DAY MAN.

4. Considering the week I've had, I'd say right now my ideal weekend would be me back in that beach house I was in a couple weeks ago, completely unburdened by responsibilities.

I LOVE THAT PIECE OKAY? Like seriously... I used to be able to play the piano a bit til I stopped taking lessons, and that was, STILL IS, one of my favorites. I love listening to the piano. I've never layered though. Yiruma, is one of my favorites, and do you knoooooow The Piano Guys? Gosh, just.. I can't even. I'm gonna need another minute.

I'm gonna answer your questions, just cause.

1. I don't know. Hahaha.... haha.. ha.. err. Um. I guess that it's completely unpredictable. None of us ever know what to expect when we go in, sometimes it could be a slow day with just the scheduled appointments, or we could have half a dozen emergencies come in and some need surgery. You can just never tell how the day is gonna go til it's over. Or NO. Seeing animals finally recover after we've been working on them for hours/days/weeks/months is awesome, all of that hard work and headaches spent trying to make them happy and healthy. Or maybe it's the whole experiencing new things. It's different working at a vet clinic than at a kennel. OR maybe the best part is being with people who get you in a way others can't. Like, not just being an animal lover, but working in this field.... takes a special kind of person. Hah. Hard to nail it down to one specific thing.

2. Dora's not as outgoing, and extroverted or friendly like my other charries. She keeps her emotions to herself, doesn't trust hardly ever, and is very honest but without any consideration for how others feel. She has a terrible history and is very Ravenclaw and good at everything logical or theoretical that she tries. Different from my Hufflepuff who was brilliant at that stuff too, but had to work harder to get the good grades and always had her heart on her sleeve proudly. My favorite thing about her is that she just can't seem to get it right with her friends sometimes, she's so full of good intentions with them but does or says things that start a wildfire unintentionally. She's learning though, trying to do better in certain areas, and has friends that are wonderful and honest and help her with it.

3. Strawberry is my favorite flavored everything.

4. I have Paper Towns by John Green. Haven't had the chance to actually read it yet.

1. Cause I was BORED. Plain and simple.

2. It used to be the games, and 99% of the time it's the RP, but right NOW it's the new section. I LOVE them they are SO AWESOME keeping up up-to-date with all this new Potter movie info. They're always awesome actually.

1. Heh. Funny timing this question. She's recently graduated from Naples WizUni, and is living with her husband (Sabel Dakest) in Cumbria while she works with wild winged horses and hippogriffs, and preparing for her first baby. The usual former Hoggie prefect stuff.

2. YES BOTH. But they are smelly things and take a lot of care I'm not accustomed to, or that would fit my lifestyle, so I always put off getting one.

3. Well I was GONNA SAY HUFFLEPUFF, but since you said different from what I'd actually be in I guess I pick.... Slytherins. Or Gryffindor. Maybe Ravenclaw. I don't know. 1. The meaning of life is relative to each person/animal/plant/living thing.

2. Mine has yet to be defined. My dog's is to eat everything in sight, nap often, and give all the kisses. Maybe that should be MINE.

1. Nutria's are pretty cute and weird and loveable. Or flying squirrels. I used to vollunteer at a wildlife rehab place, so I've come across a few wild animals that are really cool.

2. Not really, but we DO go through these phases were we get a lot of one breed. Surprisingly we don't get a lot of hounds though.
