Brody was proud of herself. She had actually managed to make something for dinner. For once Torin wouldn’t have to cook because she had a chicken in the oven. She was the best girlfriend ever, and he would be so pleased.

So she was excited when he walked inside the apartment.

“Tor, I made you something!” She went up to him and dragged him into the kitchen. “See, I made you dinner!”

She grinned, waiting for his reaction... and that was when she heard a loud BOOM!!!

“Oops.” That was the fourth time she blew up the oven.

“Sorry, baby...”

Torin walked into Brody’s room and was surprised to see a pile of DVDs on the floor around her.

“What are you doing?” he asked blinking at her. She had called him over to watch a movie with her because she was lonely, but he hadn’t figured she’d make a mess of things.

“I’m looking for the perfect movie,” she responded simply. Wasn’t that obvious?

“Oh...” He paused for a second. “What’s your perfect movie?”

“A horror film so that I can snuggle with you,” she admitted. Because friends totally did that.

He grinned cheerfully. “That’s my perfect movie too.”

It was April Fools Day, and Torin had planned the perfect prank for Brody. She just needed to go into her sock drawer and –

There was a scream from the other room.

“TORIN KANE!! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!”

Brody ran out of the room and right towards him. She was going to hex him. “You better run if you value your life!” And if he was smart he would do it.

“It was just a joke...” he said as he backed away from her.

“You put your tarantula in my drawer!” He knew she was scared of spiders.

“Sorry?”

Brody sighed as she saw this really good looking boy walk inside the cafe. She loved good looking boys.

“What are you looking at?” Torin asked her as he turned to see what had her attention.

Oh.

“You’re not supposed to look at other guys like that.” He was getting jealous.

She shook her head. “Torin, you know I love you.” That other guy was just hot. She loved her boyfriend.

“Well, then look at me. I’m a Muggleborn.” He did not like this kind of Muggle Studies.

“I do all the time.” He needn’t be jealous, he was hot.

Torin didn’t know what he could say to Brody to make her feel better. Nothing he did could make her feel that it wasn’t her fault.

“Torin, I’m sorry... I should have been more careful.” She was telling him this a lot now. If only she had been more careful... She never had any problems when she was carrying Tammy.

“Don’t say that. It just happened. Why can’t you believe it isn’t your fault?” He was trying so hard to make her not sad, and it wasn’t working.

“I’m sorry. I can’t help it.” A tear ran down her cheek.

Torin frowned as Brody took the remote from him and changed the channel. “Hey! That is so not cool!”

He glared at her and tried to get it back from her, but she kept moving it out of his reach while laughing at him. Why was she being so mean?

“Tor, you watch way too much Gossip Girl. You need to stop it.” It was a little worrying, even though she had to admit that Nate was rather hot. Torin was hotter though.

“You’re the one that always fangirls Chuck Bass.” But then he was Chuck Bass, so who didn’t?

“You will never catch me,” Torin called out as he ran around the coffee table. Playing tag was a lot of fun even in an apartment with just the two of them.

“Is that right?” Brody asked as she tried to gain on him. He was going too fast for her. She wasn’t going to get him and that was so not fair. He was being mean.

“You are losing.” He laughed.

And then out of nowhere, Brody pounced over the table and right into him, knocking him into the couch. Hard.

“Actually, I think it was you who lost.”

Torin had really outdone himself this time, Brody thought as she looked around the patio in the backyard.

“Torr! This is amazing.” She giggled and took a seat at the table. She had the best husband ever. He had made her this amazing dinner that smelled so good. And there were bamboo torches around them.

She smiled as he pushed her chair in and then took a seat at the other side of the table. He looked so good in the torchlight. “I love you so much, Torin.” And the food was so yummy.

She was lucky to have him.

Torin sighed in frustration as yet again all he could produce from his wand was a puff of smoke. And Brody laughing at him didn’t really help matters.

“Oh, shut up,” he snapped. He didn’t normally talk to her like this, but he was annoyed and her laughing at him was mean.

“Torin Kristopher Kane. I will not shut up and you will not talk to me like that,” Brody snarled at him. He was rude to speak to her in that way. She was Queenie.

“I’d like to see you make a Patronus.” Brody was just a bad friend.

Torin smiled as he sat back on Brody’s sofa. This was really nice; lounging back on a comfy seat with a beautiful girl was one of his favourite pastimes.

“You hungry, Tor?” Brody asked as her stomach growled. She was rather hungry after a day of shopping. But she had bought so much stuff. And now she was here with him, so she was happy. She loved him. Hehe.

He nodded, yawning. Tiiiired.

“House Elf! Cookies!”

“You call your house elf House Elf?” He snorted. What great names. Like Glitter.

“Shut up. I was four when I named him.” Meanie.

Torin shook his head as he saw the bags of clothes that his wife had dumped on their bed. Even with six kids, this was way too much. They really couldn’t afford all this.

“Tor, we need to have all these clothes. Fyo needed a new coat. And Kandy new shoes.” Because they were wearing things that were so last season.

“They have stuff already.” His mum had got them nice clothes for their birthdays.

She rolled his eyes at him. He didn’t get it.

“I dare you to give up shopping for a month.” She wouldn’t last one week.

Torin sighed and rolled his eyes. How many times did he have to tell Brody that this was nothing? How many times have they had this conversation?

“Torin, don’t act like this! I’m being serious.” Why was he being like this? He knew how she felt about it.

“And don’t act like I have a thing for the Herbology Professor.” He was tired of telling her that he didn’t love Bunbury like that.

“I can’t help it. You’re not supposed to love a woman that you don’t stand a chance with.” And he really didn’t stand a chance with her.

It was a rather intense moment in the apartment right now; Tammy was trying to take her first steps, and Torin had the video camera out so that he could record it. Brody was sitting behind her to catch her just in case she fell over. She didn’t want their daughter to get hurt.

“Come on, TamTam. Walk over to daddy.” Eep! This was so exciting! If only Fyo and Tammy were here to see it.

But the little girl didn’t seem to want to walk. That wasn’t cool.

“Come on, TamTam.” She resisted the urge to nudge her daughter.

Brody was not happy with Torin right now. He had taken money from Dee and hadn’t even asked her. She was his fiancée, and apparently she couldn’t be there to help him!

“Brody, I told you that you need to save your money,” he explained for the millionth time it seemed. “I didn’t even want to take the money from her.”

“It doesn’t matter. I want to help you!” she snapped at him. Did he think that she didn’t care to help him? She wanted him to do well.

“Don’t get snappish with me, Brody.”

“Don’t be an idiot then.”

It was early, and Brody was hungry. But then being pregnant tended to do that to you.

Torin was asleep – as usual – and she was trying to make pancakes because she couldn’t get him to wake up.

She had to admit that she was doing a rather good job, not having set fire to anything.

She flipped the pancakes over like Tor did sometimes, and pancake batter got all over her and oozed down her face.

“You know you’re supposed to do that when the pancakes aren’t just batter,” Torin told her with a smirk as he entered the kitchen.

Torin and Brody were in the living room playing a game of truth or dare. It was rather fun, and she was thinking that she wanted to play with Tammy later. Because they were her best friends. Hehe.

“Okay, truth,” she told him as it was her turn. She didn’t really want to do anymore dares because some of them were rather icky.

“If there was one magical object you could have, what would it be?”

“Timeturner,” she said automatically. That one was easy.

“Really? Why?”

“Because then I could go back in time and never have broken your heart.”

“Right. It’s June 16th. And try to make sure when you come that she doesn’t see anything.” Torin was being very shifty today. He wanted everything perfect for Brody’s birthday. Why he was being careful while talking on the phone, so that she wouldn’t hear what he was saying from the other room.

He had an amazing surprise for her that she would absolutely love, and he didn’t want anything to give it away.

He had ordered a giant statue of the both of them made out of chocolate.

Just as long as it didn’t melt, they were all good.

Torin had a nice surprise for Brody. Only thing was that he needed to get her to come outside to see it.

“Brody, I have something for you.” And that always got her attention.

And sure enough she came running over to him from the bedroom. “You do? What is it, Tor?” Present time. Yay!

“It’s outside.” He grabbed her hand and led her out to the balcony and over to the telescope he had set up.

“What is this?” She was confused, but still went to look.

“Tor, it’s amazing!” She gasped as she looked at the shooting star.

How could he have gotten a new girlfriend so soon after they had broken up? Obviously he never loved her like he said he did. And it hurt, because she loved him so much.

“I heard about you and Alex,” she told him coldly as she fingered the locket he had given her.

“Yes, Alex. I love her.”

“You do?” And that hurt even more. He was supposed to love her, not Alex.

“I do.”

“I’m happy for you...” She was trying to keep her cool, but really she wanted to hex him.

They were so naughty.

It was late, and they were walking along the school grounds. They didn’t care, they wanted to spend time together alone. He was busy with studying lately.

“I love you,” he said as he grabbed her hand and held it.

“I love you too.” She really did with all her heart.

He leaned in and kissed her. He was happy.

Yummy, kisses. She loved those. She giggled as she kissed him back. Oh, they were so very naughty.

Suddenly there was the sound of an owl hooting. She jumped.

“Scardy cat,” he said with a laugh.

Torin was starting to panic. Where was his wand? It wasn’t on the night table where he had left it.

“Brody, have you seen my wand?” he asked as he left the bedroom, looking for his wife.

She was lying on the couch, napping because she was pregnant.

And then he spotted it in the hands of his six year old daughter.

“Tammy, no!” He snatched the wand away from her. She must have been in their room earlier.

Brody opened her eyes. “Torin, you really are rather stupid.” Then she went back to sleep again like nothing had happened.

Torin had a smug look on his face as he placed his finger on the page in the dictionary. He had been right and Brody had been wrong. He loved being right, because he was amazing and it was nice to have that fact proven.

“I told you that your name was the definition of vain. And it’s in the dictionary, so that proves it.” And it was the dictionary, so it was always right.

“Torin! It doesn’t count if you write it in yourself with pen.” She scowled, slamming the book shut.

Brody felt terrible. Torin was ready to break up with Gold for her, and she was being an idiot and keeping them from being together.

She shook her head and reached across the table taking his hand. She didn’t care if other people in the pub saw, she loved him.

“Don’t break up with her. Don’t hurt her. We can wait. Jorma will get bored soon.”

And that hurt Torin. She knew it from the look on his face and the fact that he pulled his hand away from hers.

“You’re my future, Torin Kane.” And it was so true.

Brody was furious now. Absolutely livid.

“I thought I told you to stop talking about kissing my boyfriend!” she exclaimed as she marched up to the older Slytherin. She was so going to suffer for this.

“I can talk about it if I want to!” Torin was her friend, and she could talk about kissing him all she wanted to. That was just how they were. “What you gonna do, hit me? I’d like to see you try.” Brody Summers was utterly pathetic.

“You’re lucky I don’t hex you into next week.” And she slapped Raven right in the face.
