If you want to be the last to leave or want to hang with the more rowdy crowd, then the back passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
She loved seeing people's baby pictures and that was why she mentioned it to Eiji as soon as she saw him. She quickly realised her mistake though. "Come on, you're still okay," she offered. She did not mean to offend him by using the past tense. But she wasn't going to say that he was still "adorable", because she totally didn't want to give him the wrong idea. Being his girlfriend's roommate, it didn't hurt to be extra careful.
Jina would be delighted to read about Eiji in the Daily Prophet. She always found it amazing that her classmate's grandfather is the British Minister for Magic!
"Hi Nina," she greeted the girl cheerfully. She could never not notice that their names rhyme. Fortunately, thinking about the rhyme stopped Jina from telling Nina all about the Minister displaying Eiji's baby pictures on the platform. "How was your summer?"
The Makarios were decided to be together, not only to shop at Diagon Alley, but also to take their daughter to her 1st Hogwarts Express ride. Alexandro had just returned from a very complicated exploration in which his job was to curse-break around historical ruins in Macedonia. Thankfully the mission was paused as a new permit was needed to enter a royal tomb.
Megan was a healer, she had just started her own small business assisting witches give birth in their homes, hospitals were definitely not her type of work environment. Also for their luck, there were no babies scheduled to be born on her appointment list at this date.
The whole family arrived at King's Cross at 10:30 AM. Going through platform 9 and 10 brought Allison's parents beautiful memories and goose bumps. They couldn't believe how time flew by. Allie was wearing her best summer dress and comfy sneakers, she loaded her trunk and owl on top of a station trolley with the help of her father and together the three of them ran towards and through the wall into platform 9 3/4.
It was a dream-like scene, the steam and the people running around, friends meeting again, parents and grandparents saying goodbye. There were a lot of emotions being exchanged in that place. "Remember (purposeful tense pause), you have my blood in your veins and there is no way that sorting hat will place you in the wrong house. You will do great, and your mom and I will be an owl away!" She gave a tight hug on her dad and held some tears from falling down. Allie was really nervous about the sorting ceremony and wanted to prove herself to be the best daughter they could have ever asked for. Except, she already was.
"Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, remember that my baby. You don't need to change to fit in, the right people will accept you the way you are. Your dad has an inflated ego besides being a great actor too, yes, he is my favorite person in the word after you, but it's not all about the house you get sorted into, you wouldn't be doomed if you happened to go to Hufflepuff, like myself." Her mom gave her a huge reassuring motherly hug and threw a look at her dad for having so many set expectations on Allie.
Unable to speak up words, Allie walked towards the back of the train and after she found an empty cabin she pressed her face against the window and waived goodbye cheerfully to her parents. It was a bittersweet moment. She loved her parents, but she also loved the idea of facing life on her own for a few months.
After the engine started and the train departed she wished there was someone to share the ride with. They say you meet your true forever friends on your first ride to Hogwarts... I wish I could say the same happened to me. She pulled out a chocolate frog from her hand bag and started to enjoy it while looking at the card, not really reading it, but lost in la la land.
FINALLY it was happening, the day of her life! Time to go to her mom's school and to see and experience Hogwarts for herself! With a big smile, her designer handbag and her pink rat Nabber on her shoulder she stood in front of her parents. Her mom, Sonea and her father, Louis, both her parents were purebloods, and so was she. Mom had been rich, so naturally she had married with a wealthy man too. Her mom walked toward her and took her in a tight hug. "Don't let others take what is yours, do whatever it takes to win and to became stronger, no matter what." Mom's words were familiar, she knew what her parents were expecting of her. and, of course, she was going to make them proud. Then her father grabbed her by her shoulder en looked intently at her, his eyes more gentle than her mom and he just smiled. "Have fun" was all what he said before he pushed her toward the train. She knew that, although her dad was a good businessman and a headstrong person, that he still loved her and wanted her to have everything she needed.
Nodding at her parents she smiled. "I'm going to make you proud" she promised and hopped into the train. She wasn't a person to drag a situation long, just like her dad so she slammed the cabin door close and looked around her to see... Another girl sitting already in the cabin. Looking at the girl for a few minutes to judge her by her clothes she nodded. "Mind if i join you?" She asked.
His current train of thought came to an immediate stop and he came to a stop when he peered into this particular compartment. Was that.....? But why was he sitting on his own? Didn't he normally have people to hang out with? As far as he knew, this dormmate of his seemed like a social person - not as much as Józef but, well, yeah.
The Gryffindor wasted almost no time in pulling open the door and flopping down onto the seat opposite Cole. "Enjoying your book?" he asked, shooting the boy a cheeky grin as he lay on his side, his head resting on his hand.
Pause. "I like your cat, by the way."
Cole had kicked off his shoes and had positioned himself sidelong on the seat. He had totally lost himself in the adventure novel about a dragon keeper who was in a predicament when the door to his compartment door was pulled open and shut just as quickly. If it hadn't been for the loud meowing of Elena then Cole would probably not have noticed the newcomer as quickly. Looking up from the page in his book to stare at Lucas, he mumbled slightly confused "What?" then he straightened up into a sitting position and nodded when he closed the book to show Lucas its cover, doing his best not to blush since it had taken a moment to realize what his buddy had asked him. "Yes, I like the book. It's an adventure novel with lots of dragons and danger and stuff."
Cole stole a glance over at Elena that had positioned herself on the seat beside him, and was at her best licking her paws and fur. Turning to Lucas he smiled "Thanks, my rats sadly died. My sister accidentally gave them poison meant for wrackspurts or something so I got Elena instead from the menagerie in Diagon Ally."
"Um, Lucas are you good at understanding girls and love crushes?" Cole blubbered out. It was the first question that popped in his head to ask, not how Lucas summer had been. He could always ask that later, right?

But she did, also, start watching the scenery through the window, clearly not going anywhere just yet. She'd said she was going to help Claudine get them to the castle, and so she was going to stick to her word.
Claudine could tell that Bernie had gotten quite happy with the crup’s company. She didn’t mind as that distracted Bernie from herself. Or at least she hoped. Having been used to spending a lot of her time in silence, even among people, Claudine found that this silence was somewhat different from the others. Whereas they had been comfortable silences, this one was awkward in her opinion. She suspected that it was because she once considered Bernie her friend and now that she had royally messed up one of the two friendships she cared about. All because of her desire to explore the Forest. She sighed softly as she absently pressed her forehead against the glass.
This term was going to be different, she determined. Claudine was going to keep her head down and focus on her school work and developing as an artist. Already she was thinking about possibly enrolling in WADA after Hogwarts but she hadn’t talked to anyone about it as yet. Career advice… she’d need it.
Unknowingly to her, Samm had woken up to watch Bernie and the crup. After being bored with just watching, he scuttled down to the ground then up to Bernie’s seat where he sat watching her. Samm possibly wanted some attention too.

Bernie wasn't paying attention to anything except making sure that her crup was able to see out the window. She'd decided that after a little while of holding this pup (maybe a half-hour or so), she'd switch and hold Claudine's pup, since the other girl seemed not at all interested in doing so. Bernie didn't know much about pets, but she was pretty sure they required socialization, and holding them was a great excuse to socialize them.
She nearly jumped, however, when she felt someone's eyes on her. It wasn't Claudine staring at her, but rather the rat.... Sam, Samantha, er, Sammy, was it? "Hi Sammy," she addressed the creature as a guess. Bernadette really wasn't a rat person, but she supposed she could be friendly to ALL of Claudine's animals instead of the girl herself. "Wanna see out the window too?" she asked the rat, reaching out a hand so he could scramble up and onto her shoulder. That's what rats did, right? She was pretty sure she'd seen him riding on Claudine's shoulder on the train home.
As long as the chubby cruppy didn't mind, she'd let Sammy watch the countryside too. See how nice she was? SEE, CLAUDINE? The Slytherin was really missing out by choosing to not be her friend any longer.

After checking on the twins, Belle made her way down the corridor looking for the right compartment. She thought about possibly hopefully finding an empty one but suddenly the thought of spending the train ride alone all the way to Hogwarts just wasn't appealing.
She stuck her head in several compartments, but none seemed ideal to her. The fact was she needed to stop being picky or she'd spend the time on the way back with the 12 year old terror twins.
Definitely not what she wanted.
When she found one with two guys and a cat she knocked then slide the compartment door open.
"Do you boys have space for one more?" She almost chuckled to herself as she played on her lastname.
No matter what Bentley and Heath said, she had jokes...good ones too.

Especially when she was still somewhat new and no one who had done in any harm before. As well as Missa's roommate. He shrugged his shoulders and offered both her and her owl a sort of cursory glance. "Yeah. Wonder what happened," he sighed in response to her compliment and in reference to the past tense. "Grandpa tends to get a bit carried away."
Thankfully none of these pictures has surfaced during his campaign trail to Minister or otherwise. Now he just had to hope that the Prophet had not been following grandpa's tracks so that they could include him in the annual write-up regarding back to school. Maybe he would just avoid reading this week's, or month's, paper. There were sure to be quotes if not pictures.
His shoulders relaxed a bit as Nina joined them, which in some ways forced him to reform his behavior somewhat.
But only somewhat.
"Hey, Nina," he greeted with a slightly more genuine glance as he shifted a little so he was closer to the window. "You fancy a bowl of soup? I think its tomato."

Nina shifted a little in her seat, adjusting her skirt before looking up at Eiji when he addressed her again. "You're not going to eat it?" She would normally turn down such an offer, but soup was her favorite and it wasn't like Eiji to offer something without meaning it. She paused for a moment before looking at the girl sat across from them. Jina meant well, but Nina wished they could have the compartment to themselves.
And though Jina was a little too cheerful and talkative for her liking, Nina knew that she would have to entertain the girl's questions so as to give Eiji a break. She felt bad for the Ravenclaw, there was no way for her to know that her cheery questions could potentially set him off.
And so despite herself, Nina sat up properly and took the lead in answering the question. "It was lovely. I spent some time with Calyx," she smiled. It was strange that they were all returning to school as seventh years this year. She didn't want to have to think about the way her relationships might change as a result of graduation. "And i spent some time in London for a summer program." She hated this, for the record. Not the summer program, but the small talk. "How was yours?"

Dragons? Danger? Adventure?? "Sounds......... interesting. Very Gryffindor of you." Really. But maybe reading a book about dragons and danger was better than being stuck in a situation like that. He couldn't imagine what that would be like - and he didn't want to find out, either.
He also hoped none of the other Gryffindors wanted to find out, ei-
............. Oh. Well. This was awkward.
The smile immediately vanished at Cole's words, causing Lucas to sit up in his seat. His rats died?! Oh merlin, what was he meant to say to that?! "I, uh, I'm sorry, I had no idea." He....... did want to ask about the wrackspurt poison and why his sister had it in the first place but this didn't seem like the right time. "Elena seems nice, though."
............
....................
Uhhhhh???????? WHAT?!
Girls? He was asking him about gIRLS?!
Oh no oh no oh no.
His green eyes widened slightly at the question and he, well, just...... stared. Could he scream? He wanted to scream. Preferably into a void but he wanted to scream. He didn't know what made him an expert on girls or what part of him suggested this. He was SURE that if anYONE knew nothing about relationships, it was him. What was he even supposed to say? Was Cole going to ask for advice? Because he was probably asking the wrong person here.
After a few seconds of spluttering, he finally managed to blurt out, "W-why are you asking?" Confused? He was.
And speaking of girls, there was one now. Lucas looked up at the compartment door to see a girl? Standing there? Someone he didn't know and was sure had never talked to and, from the sounds of it, someone who had no problem sitting with complete strangers. "Uh, yeah, I guess." The sixth year scooted over slightly to make some room before shooting a questioning look over at Cole. One that, he hoped, would ask if he still wanted to carry on with their conversation.

That would be fun.
Explaining to their head of house that no, she had not tried to hurt him. GOOD he took the ice pack, good, that made her feel better. ”I haven’t even gotten that far – I think I was still reading one of the parts from 1815?” she admitted with a sheepish smile and a sigh. ”I got…I don’t know look” she pointed at the book, with a sigh ”my…toddler cousin had ripped some of it out when I was sitting for her” she admitted with a pout, a pout that stayed in place until he asked what kind of sandwiches she had.
With that question she just shrugged her shoulder, ”I just – there are a few…my dad, I just met him so he made too many sandwiches…he doesn’t know what I like so far and wanted me to share them too? I guess.” she shrugged as she opened the tin to show the stack of assorted sandwiches – if she wanted she probably could have fed herself for a week. ”there’s…a bacon butty, also blts…a cucumber sandwich – and if I didn’t like any of that even marmalade – like straight out of Paddington.” she shrugged and tipped her head at him ”I think he was five minutes from adding a toast sandwich to the lot when we had to leave”.
Yeah thank goodness she hadn’t given him a black eye. There was still plenty of time for something else to happen. The journey was still young. Anything could be happen. Be vigilant, he cautioned himself.
Noah glanced up at the ceiling of the compartment and wracked his memory, trying to remember the parts from 1815. Erm… 24601? No, too early. “I don’t know which part you’re up too. My head hurts…” he whined before flopping on the floor with ice pack in hand. “Wow… ” He paused. “I still stand by my former comment. A classic never should endure such treatment.” His sisters would NEVER have even dared to do that… right? Maybe the youngest one… She was trouble. Then again…. Maybe destroying books ran in the family? Though to be fair both incidents seemed like accidents. He let out a low whistle. “A family that is intent on destroying books.. Sad day indeed.” He smirked, sat up, and cheekily asked, "You know you could have gotten the electronic copy if you really have a dislike for physical books?"
But speaking of more important matters such as sandwiches. He listened to her and then watched the big sandwich reveal. Stacks and stacks of sandwiches. “How does he fit so many in one tin?” asked he, amazed by how they possibly could all fit in there. Oh wait. Duh. Magic. There was enough in here to feed two people for a week. “Paddington?” he tilted his head to the side, confused by what she meant by that. “What do you mean?”
He liked hearing about the fact that her Dad had overstuffed the tin. It really showed how much he cared about her. Not only that but it… kind of reminded him of his own family. Noah chuckled, offering her a kind smile. “Sounds like a super hero kind of Dad. Always looks out for his kids. He sounds like he’d get along with my Mom. She packed me off with lots of rice cakes… Too many in fact.”

Oh she would have giggled if he had said that – brought up Jean Valjean’s prisoner number…and y’know when he was arrested. Because she knew those facts. ”Fantine was about to be introduced,” she explained with a sigh and an air of almost adorable impertinence she jutted out her lower lip and pouted.
His head hurt – her mouth immediately opened in shock when she realized she needed to help. HELP HIM, seriously friends weren’t getting hurt on her watch. #NOTTODAYVOLDEMORT. ”I didn’t mean for it to happen…honestly I probably would have broken down and cried if she’d gotten to my copy of the Isle of Doctor Moreau…since my gran gave it to me” she smiled softly as she thought of the little old woman with her salt and pepper hair who had always accepted her despite not even being related to her…she had known hadn’t she?
When he brought up an electronic copy she just scoffed. ”but they don’t smell like books, they’re…just…not right y’know?” she sighed, ”I have one though…even though it always just smells like burning rubber and plastic” she shrugged her shoulder and then shrugged. ”….magic?” she answered as she tipped her head at him and watched his face. Oh merlin no, that head tilt was adorable. The brunette immediately bit the inside of her cheek as she looked at him and nodded, ”its…a childrens book, about a bear called Paddington that wears this adorable blue rain coat and yellow wellies…and he keeps a marmalade sandwich under his cap – I wouldn’t do that…its, messy and makes your hair get sooooo dirty and sticky” okay, so maybe she had experience with it when she was little.
When Noah called her dad a superhero she just grinned, ”I think so…so far, I’m just getting to know him since we just met.” there was something about Noah, the innocence of him maybe that made her feel like she could trust him. Or maybe it was just his face. ”your mum sounds nice…but like rice cakes? What kind?” she asked curiously as she hadn’t really had many of them in her life.

Fantine? How tragic. The poor lady had an awful life but luckily had her wonderful daughter to provide her such comfort. She deserved better indeed but met a tragic demise. Well… the book was called Les Miserables after all. It’s supposed to be… y’know miserable.
He chuckled at her reaction. She was cute when she was explaining herself and huffing and looking shocked. Heh. Noah kind of liked seeing her react in such a way but also lowkey felt a little bad about it too. “Isle of Doctor Moreau? An incredible read.. Wait. Isn’t your last name Moreau? Are you sure you’re not related?” he asked, raising his eyebrows, fully intending on looking ridiculous. Then he thought about the girl later that had told him that she liked pain. Didn’t the book deal with themes of pain? “Don’t tell me you're a masochist too...” He would have scooted further away but if he had- he might have hit his head again.
She enjoyed the smell of books? Noah offered a kind smile as he also enjoyed the smell of them. “No need to explain any further. I completely understand. The texture of the pages as you thumb them, the smell of adventure, and the thrill of being whisked away,” he stared out the window dreamily. The rubbery, metallic smell of an electronic version could never replace the satisfaction one got from turning a page of a five-hundred-page book. Yep she had correctly guessed what he was thinking. He flushed slightly, embarrassed for saying such a silly answer. Erm… Right. If his neck weren’t sore, he would have been able to awkwardly run a hand through his hair instead of it going numb from the ice pack. A children’s book say? Interesting…. He chuckled when she gave him the advice not to do that. “Right… I”ll keep that in mind. I’m sure I’ll need that at Hogwarts.”
“Just met?” Oh. Was she adopted? “How long have you… lived with him for?” He didn't’ want to go out and ask her if she was an orphan like WHO DOES THAT? He honestly thought it was rude but he didn’t want to be too, too prying --- however, the boy did have questions. He wouldn’t ask all of them- only a few to satisfy the inner burning sensation called curiosity. And then she posed a question to him. What kind of rice cakes? “The kind my Mom makes!” he beamed with a playful smile. “Kidding… I think they are normal ones… They’re Songpyeon in my language or rice cakes in yours. There..." How would he describe? Not savoury? Delicious? Yes. "There sweet. My Mom knew I’d be away for Chuseok.. It’s a holiday back home in October so she prepped me with some cakes. Do you want to try one?”
Fantine and her daughter had always been her favorite characters in the book…and the musical despite the whole their lives being a miserable mess bit…maybe because of it?
He didn’t have to feel bad – she was the one who had accidentally lobbed a 1000000+ page book at him…well, it wasn’t that long but it felt like it when she had first read it. When he commented on the book she just nodded, ”yeaaaaah there’s not a chance in hell that I’m related to a fictional character” she said with a laugh as she rolled her eyes. WHEN HAD SHE TOLD HIM SHE LIKED PAIN, that was something she needed to know so she could erase that question from his lips. ”whaaaaaaat?” the words rushed from her mouth and just as quickly she had quirked her quirked as if she was considering what he had just asked before almost all of the expression faded from her face in pure shock as she just blinked at him.
blink. blink. ”why….do you ask?” she finally asked as she tipped her head at him in confusion ”…right yep, the smell of books” her mind was still whirring and questioning why he had brought that up…her nerves slowly resettling as she sat there on the floor of the compartment. ”you…never know when emergency food is necessary – I mean…emergency food stashes are probably always the best way to ensure survival”, what…the school had runaway paintings for most of the school year the last term.
”…yeah.” she nodded and chewed her lip ”I…just this summer?” she paused for a second as she scrunched her nose as she debated telling him more of the story, but really maybe it was a better story for later. ”okay…songpyeon?” she repeated the word slowly as she tried to pronounce it correctly. When he mentioned his language she just grinned, ”I’d love to try it…and if you want I’ll celebrate with you on Chuseok?” she offered with a smile.

Rowan smiled to himself as Daisy sat perched upon his shoulder, purring loudly into his ear. Despite her being fully grown now, the cat still loved to make herself comfortable on Rowan’s shoulder. She was odd, but that was why he loved her.
After gathering some snacks with his spending money, the third year found himself an empty compartment towards the back of the train. He gingerly placed the cat on the seat, letting her sniff around while he dug into his suitcase. Pulling out a large, soft blanket, he folded it nicely, laying it in the corner of the seat and placing Daisy upon it. He smiled. “Nice and comfy now, huh?” She gave him a slow blink, still purring loudly. “You’re absolutely spoiled.” He chuckled, shaking his head as he tore open a package of licorice wands.

With his robes now on and his chocolate frog safely tucked away in his pocket, it was now time for him to be the good seventh year that he was, or at least trying to be, and do a quick patrol of the corridor. Sure, last year he’d done all of his prefect duties to the best that he could but somehow, he figured that his first year would always be tarnished by the loud shouting match he’d got into with the former astronomer professor. But this year was a new year so there was no use worrying about old mistakes, even if he was right.
With a polite knock on the door, the tall prefect opened the door and popped his head into the crack of the door, the polite smile on his face being replaced by a grin as he was met by the sight of a younger boy talking to his cat. ”You spoil that cat anymore and it’ll be following you to lessons”. Spoiling your pet wasn’t a bad thing though. He’d seen too many animals go to homes that didn’t look after them so it was nice to see that the boy cared.

Claudine was jolted out of her thoughts when Bernie spoke. Actually, it was Samm’s name that did it. She pulled her face away from the glass, leaving the print of her forehead and nose on it. Her eyes were quickly cast in the direction of Bernie to see Samm making himself at home on the Gryffindor’s shoulder. Did Claudine mind? No. But she did feel bad that the second crup wasn’t getting any attention. There was a reason she wasn’t bonding with either: they were going to be Fuller-Thompson’s and she was sure he wasn’t going to let her play with them at any time. So, why get attached?
“If you get tired of him, let me know.’’ Claudine wasn’t exactly happy with the thought of her pet being a bother to anyone.

He shook his head at Nina's question. "I never do. Dad always insists on sending me off to school with some though." The first term he had actually eaten it and gladly so. Every other year had been...more creative methods because he couldn't just pour it OUT. That would be wasteful as well as disrespectful to his dad.
By this point he knew that he was simply being a jerk difficult towards Jina and he was TRYING to claw himself out of the mood but it was hard to remove oneself from a deep seeded melancholy you did not know had been growing inside you for close to seven years. He also knew that Nina was, quite literally, harmless and only trying to serve as a middle ground for conversation...but his salt was spilling over to the point that he would even spit a little fire at her.
And that came the moment she mentioned her boyfriend.
"That's her eager puppy," he explained with the most pleasant of smiles to Jina. Because that was what the Gryffindor was, an eager puppy on a Nina sized leash yipping and yapping all the praises for his master.
And did...he really need to talk about his summer?
"I spent most of the summer at Himitsumahou finishing out their term. Then turned of age."

There was a lot of noise coming from the hallways of the back cars. Everything seemed to be totally out of control with those coo-coo-bananas younglings chatting around and up to no good. Allie started to chew the first piece of her chocolate frog while finally reading the card she got. "Uric the Oddball, this is boring, the worse chocolate frog card ever! How can a wizard who wears a jellyfish hat gets fam...?" She suddenly froze as the doors of her (previously lonely) cabin were slammed open and a fancy dressed girl, appearing to be the same age as herself, showed up.
"I don't mind, come on in. Do you always walk in places with a bang?" She smiled trying to relax again. "I'm Allison Makarios. You can call me Allie. Would you like a chocolate frog? I have another one." Allie noticed the girl looked at her clothes. She must be all about fashion trends, the type of girl who reads Witch Weekly. That was definitely a subject she didn't know much to talk about, her mom had always dressed her up. It was too much work to match things on her own. If she could just have black and white clothes, that would be easier, or maybe green and silver to match her beautiful future 'housing-house'.

Bernie decided to put her crup back and take out Claudine's, and the puppies were still young enough that they didn't put up too much of a fight when she was switching them out. She even managed to do all this without disturbing Sammy from her shoulder and didn't even think too much about how his little claws were digging into her sleeve.
She patted Claudine's pup, who was much more wriggly than hers, and who wanted to bite at her sleeve. SO CUTE!!!! Cruppy bites didn't hurt, though. Their teeth were too small for that. She definitely stuck her fingers into his mouth for a few playful, fun little nips.
"I will," she replied levelly to Claudine. And that was it. She wasn't saying anything else until they got to Hogwarts. Probably.

Dragons? Danger? Adventure?? "Sounds......... interesting. Very Gryffindor of you." Really. But maybe reading a book about dragons and danger was better than being stuck in a situation like that. He couldn't imagine what that would be like - and he didn't want to find out, either.
Please say no please say no.

"I saw dragons this summer so that’s why I wanted to read this book. You can borrow it after I’ve read it out, if you want?" Cole offered Lucas. He didn’t know if the other boy liked to read novels. Thinking about his dead rats, he smiled weakly trying to not start crying since he had grown quite attached to them. All thoughts of books preferences went out of his head. "Thanks, it happened just a few days ago. I miss them." If he said it quickly it didn’t hurt so much. As if she knew that he was sad, Elena came over and scooted up onto his lap for a cuddle. Stroking her over her back, Cole said as he raised his eyes to look at Lucas. "Yes, she is really nice." And affectionate and he was starting to really like her and depend on her presence, which maybe was weird since he had known her only for a few days.
Oops…
Maybe he shouldn’t have asked Lucas that? Maybe it hadn’t been okay? The widening eyes and spluttering words after a long silence probably told him that if Cole had been attentive. Licking his lips he replied. "I uh asked because I think I’m crushing on two girls and I don’t know how to handle that. Am I supposed to ask them on dates? Girls are weird. They can be happy one minute and angry the next, you know?" Yes he was totally thinking about Claudine here.
Cole was going to say something more when suddenly the compartment door opened to reveal a dark haired girl in sort of their age but not a lion. He glanced over at Lucas before he mumbled. "Sure, I guess." Lucas had already scooted over to give room on the seat so he couldn’t exactly say no. "Do you two think we’ll get to play quidditch this year?" Cole asked, since he didn’t know what else to say when they had been joined by a girl he didn’t know.
Had it been a ring that made that weird scritching sound? Morgan craned his neck a bit to try to peek at the Slytherin's hand as he approached, but it was soon forgotten, at least for the moment, in favor of conversation as they stepped back into the compartment. And now that he was going to be staying in here for the time being, he shoved his trunk off the seat and onto the floor to make sure there was plenty of room for the two of them and anyone else who wanted to join - as long as the current occupants were okay with them joining too.
"Huh?" Morgan looked up from his fallen trunk, momentarily confused by his meaning. "Oh! You mean Kale? No, I haven't seen him yet." That thought prompting him to turn his eyes to the windows facing the corridor. "I bet he will be along soon though." It would be totally weird if he wasn't, but... oh, wait, wasn't his little sister coming this year? Maybe he had to show her around and sit with her and stuff. Boring.
"You can be my partner in crime until he gets here, if you want," he added with a grin. Whatever that meant, but it sounded cool.
Twisting the ring idly around his thumb, Nem stretched his legs out to rest his feet on the seat opposite. Having not yet grown since first year, and sitting all the way back on his own seat, it was sort of a stretch, so Nem slouched enough that both feet were propped up. He crossed them at the ankles and glanced across at the trunk on the floor, then up again at McCarthy.
"Yeah, Kale. The man, the myth..." The vegetable. "... et cetera, et cetera." Nem looked straight ahead, still twisting the ring, a musing sort of expression in place. "I daresay he'll appear." With a grand entrance, a dramatic flourish, and a musical medley to boot. Nem felt a headache approaching just thinking about it. Or was that just impatience? It was hard to tell sometimes.
"Sure! It'll make a change from all my solo crimes." Kidding, of course. He grinned too. "Speaking of, d'you have any havoc planned for the feast? Someone needs to liven it up a bit, and you seem like the man for the job, now that you don't have to worry about your brother."

"Good." Belle slipped unto the seat next to the boy who answered first and offered both of them a smile. Lucky for her she was never awkward when first meeting strangers but hopefully she wasn't interrupting anything between these two boys.
"Thank you. I didn't feel like spending the ride to Hogwarts with my 12 year old niece and nephew. I'm Belle by the way. Belle Moore, 5th year." She flashed them both a dimpled beam.
Uhh quidditch? She hadn't thought about that much, but that was probably because it was never a thing she was exceptional at, so it didn't get much attention from her.
She shrugged a little bit.
"I don't know. Probably. I mean I don't see why they wouldn't allow it this year."

As Claudine watched Bernie with the crups, she thought that Fuller-Thompson was more likely to let the Gryffindor play with them later on. Claudine was more the kind of person to be skipped over because she chose to keep to herself when she wasn’t getting into trouble and Bernie was quite outgoing; everyone noticed her. It suited her fine, anyway. Having friends and people to care about equalled too much drama and heartbreak at some point in time. Bernie had taught her that last term.
And that was it. Two words from Bernie was more than enough for Claudine to now be sure that her decision was the right one. Though… it was disappointing that Bernie never came outright to say that they should keep being friends. She just felt sad now and that’s why she simply nodded and quickly turned her face back to the window.
Also, she did not want Bernie to see the tears that welled up.
Tears? What? Claudine Blaze did not cry. Not even when she felt pangs of sadness for her mother whom she had lost and didn’t have much memories of.

He smiled. “I’m sure she was joking.” Errr.. he still wasn't a 100% sure of it-- call it a lukewarm 64.5%.
"Well cause I've already met one... so the chance that I meet another...." he explained, smirking at her because her reaction was pure amusement to him. Heh. "I'm kidding. Nevermind. Bad joke that landed wrong. Don't think about it." He grinned as she regained her composure and discussed sandwiches "Survival? Do we need to be worried about making it through the train ride...?"
Just this summer? WOW. His eyebrows raised. Noah hadn't been expecting that. "That must have been a lot..." He couldn't imagine it. Just meeting your Dad... Wow. He was speechless and didn't know what to say. To be fair, he didn't even know how he would have felt about it. He chuckled softly and offered her a thumbs up. "Good pronunciation! That's right." It was kind that she tried to mimic his pronunciation and she had kinda nailed it. He was impressed. Very impressed and sort of flattered by it.
And then Noah was truly touched by her next statement. What. That was so kind!! Celebrate Chuseok, the Harvest Festival, with him? "I'd love that... That's really kind of you. I can teach you how to make songpyeon."
He offered her a smile, listening to her laugh before having to mask a smirk when he saw her own reaction to his comment. Hehe. She wanted to know more. “That was my reaction at first but I didn’t show it cause I thought she was joking,” he said with a soft smile. He was pretty sure she was joking. Islay had continued to sit there, blinking at him as chase’s understudy Noah spoke. Her expression still a repetition of blinking tilting and quirking until she heard what he had said. He had already met one and with those words her jaw had fallen slack. ”you WHAT?” her eyes with WIDE in shock. ”did someone really tell you that because…merlin, who raised them a pack of wolves?” because y’know…wolves and canines greeted with some awkward very a w k w a r d sniffing.
When he mentioned joking she just couldn’t help but laugh. Really, truly laugh. She might have even snorted she was laughing so hard – but that was something that wouldn’t leave this compartment because no one else needed to know about her impersonating a pig when she laughed. ”oh you are an idiot…I like it” she shook her head and grinned at him. Still when he brought up survival she just shrugged”apparently…some things happened when my aunts – my biological father’s sisters went here?” she admitted with a shrug of her shoulder.
”…they gave me a kit of basic antidotes – so if you think anyone ever dosed you with love potion…come find me I’ll sort you out.” there was a part of her that figured her aunts had given her those because they hadn’t approved of Landen. ”…I mean it’s a train, even magical trains can derail.” that was just a given. Trains, like any transportation weren’t always the safest.
Noah’s thumbs up about the pronunciation of the word made Islay grin. REALLY grin, like not that half grin people did when they were trying to look all cool and smirky. ”oh yaaay!...i’m really glad honestly.” she chewed her lip a bit and grinned ”if you ever want to I’ll try and teach you some French things…like the fun slang and things” what? Everyone wanted to know how to curse someone out in another language. Even she did.
His face looked so bright and incandescently happy that all Islay could do was beaaam right back at him. ”oh, I would love that – and you know i’ll help with the celebrations not matter what house you’re in…I’m not one of those house-ist people.”

“Korean is my first language,” he offered, hopefully meeting her curious question. She KNEW Korean. Wait. How. The boy was genuinely interested in her skill. He laughed. “They really did. How awkward, huh?” he offered with a gracious smile.
Noah smiled. Genuinely smiled when he watched her laugh so genuinely. Perfection. She was perfect. He was sure of it. His expression faltered when she said he was an idiot. “An idiot?” he asked, hurt by her commentary. He didn’t know what else to say so he stayed silent and annoyed.
He listened to her and nodded- not sure of what she wanted. He interrupted it as someone who knew how to get sleep. However, sleep was never too, too kind on him. “Like what kind of French things?” he asked, obviously flirting.
Noah offered her a kind smile. “You’re kind.”
