If you want to be the last to leave or want to hang with the more rowdy crowd, then the back passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what you did this summer, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by reading your textbooks, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.
Islay grinned when he said that Korean was his first language. ”i…don’t know much of it but my – uh…cousin used to kind watch Korean dramas all the time so I basically understand a bit?” she admitted with a shrug of her shoulder. ”basically I can confuse people by continually saying what, why, yes…no, I love you and pretty much happy birthday?” she shrugged her shoulder and slightly tipping her head – oh and like a whole speech about someone being a murderer but when did that come up in conversation…never.
When he confirmed that someone REALLY had admitted that to him her eyes widened again. ”seriously?” her jaw was still slightly slack the confusion and bewilderment playing on her face. ”I thought you said you were joking – I didn’t…no I meant that was a silly joke” she flailed her hands at him. ”I like you, you’re fun.” she meant it in as friendly of a way as possible. I think. She hadn’t really thought saying that through to be honest.
Was he still mad about the book? She hoped not. it was an accident after all and theeeen he had – wait was he flirting? Her face had immediately started to redden as she sat there. ”i…um…don’t know honestly? Maybe how to sass someone like a Parisian?” she offered with a shrug of the shoulder.
Okay was it hot in here or was it just that her face looked like a cooked lobster that was making her feel this…warm? ”really? You think so?” she asked all flustered and flatter but mostly flattered. ”I think you’re kind too Noah,”

There was a lot of noise coming from the hallways of the back cars. Everything seemed to be totally out of control with those coo-coo-bananas younglings chatting around and up to no good. Allie started to chew the first piece of her chocolate frog while finally reading the card she got. "Uric the Oddball, this is boring, the worse chocolate frog card ever! How can a wizard who wears a jellyfish hat gets fam...?" She suddenly froze as the doors of her (previously lonely) cabin were slammed open and a fancy dressed girl, appearing to be the same age as herself, showed up.
"I don't mind, come on in. Do you always walk in places with a bang?" She smiled trying to relax again. "I'm Allison Makarios. You can call me Allie. Would you like a chocolate frog? I have another one." Allie noticed the girl looked at her clothes. She must be all about fashion trends, the type of girl who reads Witch Weekly. That was definitely a subject she didn't know much to talk about, her mom had always dressed her up. It was too much work to match things on her own. If she could just have black and white clothes, that would be easier, or maybe green and silver to match her beautiful future 'housing-house'.
She didn't waited for the other girl to finish her sentence and she already sat down with a sigh. "Well, no, not really" she said, "but I didn’t knew you were here so why should I?" She shrugged. "And besides, now we have a subject to talk about so I think it's a good icebreaker." Suddenly remembering her manners she sat straight and offered the other girl her hand. "I'm Mena Dubois and," she pointed at her pink rat, "this is my rat Nabber. Nice meeting you." She said.
"In what house are you expecting to be placed in?" She asked. "My mother wants me to be a Slyhterin but my father doesn't really care, as long as I'm happy he's fine." She said, leaning back in her seat again. "My mother will definitely turn gray immediately if I tell her that I'm sorted in Gryffindor," she said thoughtfully. “Maybe I should play a prank on her end send her a owl tonight just to give her a scare” she grinned while trying to think about her mother’s face while reading the letter.
Nina shifted a little in her seat, adjusting her skirt before looking up at Eiji when he addressed her again. "You're not going to eat it?" She would normally turn down such an offer, but soup was her favorite and it wasn't like Eiji to offer something without meaning it. She paused for a moment before looking at the girl sat across from them. Jina meant well, but Nina wished they could have the compartment to themselves.
And though Jina was a little too cheerful and talkative for her liking, Nina knew that she would have to entertain the girl's questions so as to give Eiji a break. She felt bad for the Ravenclaw, there was no way for her to know that her cheery questions could potentially set him off.
And so despite herself, Nina sat up properly and took the lead in answering the question. "It was lovely. I spent some time with Calyx," she smiled. It was strange that they were all returning to school as seventh years this year. She didn't want to have to think about the way her relationships might change as a result of graduation. "And i spent some time in London for a summer program." She hated this, for the record. Not the summer program, but the small talk. "How was yours?"

Every other year had been...more creative methods because he couldn't just pour it OUT. That would be wasteful as well as disrespectful to his dad.
By this point he knew that he was simply being a jerk difficult towards Jina and he was TRYING to claw himself out of the mood but it was hard to remove oneself from a deep seeded melancholy you did not know had been growing inside you for close to seven years. He also knew that Nina was, quite literally, harmless and only trying to serve as a middle ground for conversation...but his salt was spilling over to the point that he would even spit a little fire at her.
And that came the moment she mentioned her boyfriend.
"That's her eager puppy," he explained with the most pleasant of smiles to Jina. Because that was what the Gryffindor was, an eager puppy on a Nina sized leash yipping and yapping all the praises for his master.
And did...he really need to talk about his summer?
"I spent most of the summer at Himitsumahou finishing out their term. Then turned of age."
She was trying to interpret the look Nina gave her … like she wanted her to leave the compartment. Jina was actually thinking of doing that, since it was quite awkward sitting opposite the two close Slytherin kids. Maybe she could find a seat with Jillian when she wasn’t patrolling the corridors. Anyway, she had asked about their summers and was genuinely interested to hear about them. It seemed like all the seventh years did something different during the break. It was a good time to relax, study and explore career options.
“That sounds great. What was your summer program on?” she replied to Nina … ignoring Eiji’s unnecessary comment. But he also received questions from her regarding his summer. “Happy belated birthday. What was it like at Himitsumahou? How is the curriculum different from Hogwarts?”
Don’t worry, she was planning to leave after the followup Q&A session (which may take forever given her Ravenclaw curiosity). She realised that she forgot to talk about her own summer because of all the questions she had, but figured that the others were probably not too curious anyway, hehe.

"That's sweet of him," her own mother wouldn't even walk into the station with her. She was always conveniently busy on September first. Nina had half a mind to think that she scheduled all of her clients then on purpose. I love soup.” In other words, she’d gladly take it off his hands.
Perhaps now would not be the time to eat soup though because Nina was focusing on a far more difficult task: putting all her effort into a polite smile, trying to diffuse the tension present in their compartment. It was quite exhausting, but she was well-practiced in polite smiles.
Still with all of the effort, her smile did not last much longer. In precisely the exact moment that Eiji chose to open his mouth, it immediately fell off her face to be replaced by a look of deep hurt.
In fact, she was so upset by his jab that she stopped listening to her company entirely. It was different when he said these things in private, but Jina didn't know her. This was different. She stood still as Eiji spoke of his own summer, her thoughts (and feelings) very much reeling. And instead of answering Jina's next question, the Slytherin stood up from her seat as gracefully as possible. ”Let’s catch up later, Jina,” she tried smiling again because this wasn’t the Ravenclaw's fault. Eiji always took his anger out on others and Nina wasn’t willing to be a personal punching bag today. ”If you’ll excuse me, I have to go find my puppy,” she turned to look at Eiji when she said this, attempting to glare but knowing that she looked much like a puppy herself. One that had just been kicked in the stomach.
With that she turned on her heels and made her way out of the compartment to find Calyx.

Claudine was more the kind of person to be skipped over because she chose to keep to herself when she wasn’t getting into trouble and Bernie was quite outgoing; everyone noticed her. It suited her fine, anyway. Having friends and people to care about equalled too much drama and heartbreak at some point in time. Bernie had taught her that last term.
And that was it. Two words from Bernie was more than enough for Claudine to now be sure that her decision was the right one. Though… it was disappointing that Bernie never came outright to say that they should keep being friends. She just felt sad now and that’s why she simply nodded and quickly turned her face back to the window.
Also, she did not want Bernie to see the tears that welled up.
Tears? What? Claudine Blaze did not cry. Not even when she felt pangs of sadness for her mother whom she had lost and didn’t have much memories of.
Could they be at Hogwarts already?
Definitely not looking at Claudine's reflection in the window, Bernie calmly played tug with the cruppy, using her scrunchie as the toy. Claudine was the one who had said they weren't going to be friends; she was the one who had offered to get out of Bernie's hair after they gave Fuller-Thompson the crups; she was the one buying the dogs and storing them all summer; this wasn't Bernie's fault AT ALL. She didn't feel a bit bad when she noticed Claudine's shiny eyes. NOT A BIT.
But... Bernie was growing tired, not from the effort required to keep up with a cruppy, but because of the emotional toll of this train ride. Bernie put Claudine's pup away and after a few friendly pets to Sammy, returned him to the Slytherin's side of the compartment by setting him gently next to the girl.
"So...this is it then," she mused, not sure why she was bothering to talk to Claudine. She knew her ex-friend wouldn't reply. Just... they were getting close to Hogsmeade, and Bernie was getting hopeful that they wouldn't be expelled for this harmless gift.

She watched Korean dramas??..... Well not Islay but her cousin…. Ah. He nodded. It was probably a good way to learn the language by watching a TV show. He paused, listening her speak more, and then just burst out into laughter at the very image of her confusing someone. “Sorry! Not laughing you. Laughing at the image of you saying all of that in Korean while trying to order a tea,” he chuckled.
Noah watched her, with the widest smirk on his lips, run through a series of emotions. Surprise. Confusion. Bewilderment. Heh. The toying was well worth the reaction. He tilted his head to the side, adjusting his ice pack once more. “Happy to be fun.” Should he have said that the rollercoaster of emotions that she just displayed were fun and entertaining too? “I was joking." Maybeeeeeee.
He noted the slight reddening of her cheeks. That was adorable. Heh. Noah nodded and then pursed his lips as he tossed around the idea in his head- debating it. “Sass someone like a Parisian? How does one do that?” Eyebrows raised now. He was very intrigued by what that even looked like. “What does that even look like?” He’d never gone to Paris before. He'd always wanted to go. He had seen so many pictures of the sprawling streets, the cafes, and the monuments.
Noah nodded. “Yeah, I’ve never met someone who’s offered to come participate in a holiday with me. It’s kind.” He chuckled at her comment, covering his face slightly. “Thanks.”
Well…she hadn’t expected him to start laughing at her when she brought up the watching of kdramas – what was so funny about that? Her eyebrows knitted together in a mix of emotions – hurt, confusion, and curiosity were among them. THEN what he said just made it all melt away as she started laughing again.
”seriously? I’d probably just end up accidentally offending people my mis-translating everything….like telling someone their kids look very dangerous when I meant to say they’re cute” she shook her head before rather childishly rolling her eyes at Noah. ”gooooood,” she grinned at him and nodded when he asked about sassing someone. ”well,” she paused as she raised her eyebrow at him and couldn’t help but smirk just so ”there is a lot of sighing, hair flipping, and dramatics but either way I can teach you.” she grinned for a moment before letting the expression fall from her face as a very serious one was immediately put in its place ”but…this isn’t like a group lesson obviously, it’s a one-on-one with a friend.”
OH – MY – GOSH was he blushing? did she make him blush? THIS was a feat – really. Islay could barely count on her hand the amount of people she’d made blush with Landen it was smirking and lots and lots of grumbled words. ”well I mean it – I love learning about holidays…and your my friend I wouldn’t want you to be alone and missing family on…uh Chuseok?”

Allie hesitated for a bit, that new girl had an attitude, but still, she had a good excuse. Obviously she could not guess if someone was inside of the cabin or not and that was never expected but some people are a little more careful with doors and objects, even though we can fix them quickly with the flick of a wand. "I suppose you're right, Mena. Nice meeting you, and Nabber." She gave another bite on her chocolate frog starting to wonder if she should stop eating or not and continued. "I've never seen a pink rat before, does he do anything special?" She smiled while sticking a finger towards the animal cuddling in the girl's hat to see if he was a biter or not.
"Wow, I can relate. My father wants me to go to Slytherin, and I want that too, he was always so proud and told me so many stories. My mom was transferred from an American school on her 5th year and was sorted into Hufflepuff, but she doesn't care which one I'm sorted into." It was hard, but Allie was enduring the pain and anxiety of not knowing what her destiny had on hold for her. The train ride seemed to be eternal, she could not wait to get to the castle. If it wasn't for Mena's company she'd probably get a headache from over-thinking things. "I hope we can become housemates. It'd be nice. But... ahm... why doesn't your mom like Gryffindor? Allie had to ask, the girl was looking way too happy with the thought of pranking her own mom, in a funny evil-ish way.
Twisting the ring idly around his thumb, Nem stretched his legs out to rest his feet on the seat opposite. Having not yet grown since first year, and sitting all the way back on his own seat, it was sort of a stretch, so Nem slouched enough that both feet were propped up. He crossed them at the ankles and glanced across at the trunk on the floor, then up again at McCarthy.
"Yeah, Kale. The man, the myth..." The vegetable. "... et cetera, et cetera." Nem looked straight ahead, still twisting the ring, a musing sort of expression in place. "I daresay he'll appear." With a grand entrance, a dramatic flourish, and a musical medley to boot. Nem felt a headache approaching just thinking about it. Or was that just impatience? It was hard to tell sometimes.
"Sure! It'll make a change from all my solo crimes." Kidding, of course. He grinned too. "Speaking of, d'you have any havoc planned for the feast? Someone needs to liven it up a bit, and you seem like the man for the job, now that you don't have to worry about your brother."
Morgan couldn't help but to keep looking at Nem's finger. It kept drawing his focus the way the Slytherin continued to twist the ring, and the newly turned 13 year old had already been interested in it ever since he heard the scritching sound coming from the corridor.
"Yeah, he probably will," he agreed, nodding confidently, his eyes still on Nem's hand. "And if not, we could go look for him... Is that a new ring?" It wasn't any sort of smooth segue, more like a rambling of thoughts, spoken as they came to mind. But his curiosity about it hadn't gone away, so he couldn't quite keep his mouth shut about it.
And he was quite pleased that Nem agreed to be his temporary partner in crime, though he still wasn't quite sure what that would entail. But apparently it would involve a havoc of some kind. "Mm, no? I guess I hadn't thought about it." It did sound like fun to liven things up though. "Yeah, but my sister is still around.." And in ways that was somehow worse. Chloe acted like his mum sometimes and Morgan always thought of Gunnar being head boy as his ticket out of trouble.

"Sure. I could probably find out what my brother's doing while we're at it." Not check on, though if Ezra was going to snitch in his letters back home, which Nem suspected might happen, it would probably be a good idea to make an appearance so that it at least seemed that way. Be the concerned older sibling or something. "But yeah, it is." Nem held up his hand, displaying the hideous silver sovereign ring loosely worn on his thumb. "Finders keepers." The wheres, whys, and hows were immaterial. It had a new owner now.
"Oh yeah, I remember." Nem had been fully aware, of course, that there was another McCarthy still present at the school, but had never felt her to be much of a problem in that regard. "I don't think I'd be scared of your sister, but that's fair enough. I totally get it." He gave Morgan an understanding sort of smile. "I'm sure something will happen regardless."

He smirked. "I could help you out, y'know. We're friends after all," he added with a playful smile to let her know that he was... y'know still her friend even if she had tried to annihilate him with a book. He removed the ice pack and then tentatively raised his right hand to touch his neck. Nice and frozen. Noah noted the eye roll but didn't comment on it. Heh.Sighing? Hair flipping? Dramatics? "Soooo.... I think there's a similarity between sassing someone like a Parisienne and Korean Dramas.." There's lots of drama there and sighing... His eyebrows mentioned that it wasn't a group activity and that it was instead a ONE on ONE friend thing. "Oh sure.. I'd appreciate that." He offered a smile and then looked out the window, not realizing how dark it had gotten. They must be getting closer to their destination.
Noah beamed. "Yeah, that's really considerate of you. Thanks!"

"You have a brother here?" Morgan asked suddenly, his face marked with mild confusion. Did he know this? Morgan wasn't sure that he did, but he was known to be a self-involved person. It might have come up then slipped his mind entirely. Though maybe it was a good thing that the conversation turned to the ring and Morgan peered closer at it when Nem held up his hand. "Cool! "I'm not scared of her," he insisted, somewhat defiantly. "She just likes to be in my business and boss me." Okay, maybe not always, but enough that he couldn't just get away with stuff without someone watching over him. "We could still do something fun. It doesn't have to be a boring, stuffy old feast." He just didn't always have a plan, okay?

"I do now. He's a first year." As had been M&D's constant refrain over the summer. You'd think the kid was made of glass the way they harped on about Nem and Pax looking after him this term. Because that was so likely. Whatever. "Yeah. Amazing, the kind of stuff you find just lying around sometimes."That was a thought though. The idea that he might have acquired the ring from just such a person was appealing, but a little too much like wishful thinking. He grinned back all the same. "Same. Ticks a lot of people off." Which wasn't at all why Nem liked it, of course. No. Totally unrelated statement.
Oops. Accidentally touched a nerve.
"No, no, 'course not," Nem agreed easily. "My bad. I get what you mean now; she's just kind of interfering." He twirled the ring some more, glancing through the window of the compartment door to those that were passing outside. "Sure. Plenty of opportunities and all that."
