Whereas they had been comfortable silences, this one was awkward in her opinion. She suspected that it was because she once considered Bernie her friend and now that she had royally messed up one of the two friendships she cared about. All because of her desire to explore the Forest. She sighed softly as she absently pressed her forehead against the glass.
This term was going to be different, she determined. Claudine was going to keep her head down and focus on her school work and developing as an artist. Already she was thinking about possibly enrolling in WADA after Hogwarts but she hadn’t talked to anyone about it as yet. Career advice… she’d need it.
Unknowingly to her, Samm had woken up to watch Bernie and the crup. After being bored with just watching, he scuttled down to the ground then up to Bernie’s seat where he sat watching her. Samm possibly wanted some attention too. Bernie wasn't paying attention to anything except making sure that her crup was able to see out the window. She'd decided that after a little while of holding this pup (maybe a half-hour or so), she'd switch and hold Claudine's pup, since the other girl seemed not at all interested in doing so. Bernie didn't know much about pets, but she was pretty sure they required socialization, and holding them was a great excuse to socialize them.
She nearly jumped, however, when she felt someone's eyes on her. It wasn't Claudine staring at her, but rather the rat.... Sam, Samantha, er, Sammy, was it? "Hi Sammy," she addressed the creature as a guess. Bernadette really wasn't a rat person, but she supposed she could be friendly to ALL of Claudine's animals instead of the girl herself. "Wanna see out the window too?" she asked the rat, reaching out a hand so he could scramble up and onto her shoulder. That's what rats did, right? She was pretty sure she'd seen him riding on Claudine's shoulder on the train home.
As long as the chubby cruppy didn't mind, she'd let Sammy watch the countryside too. See how nice she was? SEE, CLAUDINE? The Slytherin was really missing out by choosing to not be her friend any longer.
