Arranged in its usual state, the door to the Potions Classroom was once again open for the day's lesson. On top of each workstation are your typical Potions materials and tools ready to be used.
Up ahead, Healer Reed can be seen leaning against the blackboard, hands stuffed into his trousers' pockets waiting for his students to arrive. Roscoe and Bumi can be seen lounging on the side, proudly wearing their Red Cross badges around their necks.
No time to dilly-dally! Come in and let's start brewing!
OOC: HELLO HELLO!!! We'll begin in approximately 24 hours after this post. Remember that this isn't your first potions class for the term. Class is in session!

She didn't need him distracting her in class. It wasn't long before Olly came to sit by her. "Hi Olly!" The murmured with a smile. He was perfect company for class.
She was about to say something else, but then the class began. So she decided that it could wait until after the class had finished. Oooh. They had to go find things! She liked that. Hattie smiled, putting her protective gear on, and carefully putting the equipment she needed into her bag.
"Wanna work together Olly?" She asked with a beam.

It was almost like a treasure hunt, yeah? It was going to be fun. Once Healer Reed finished talking, she sat back against her seat. Some people had already formed groups.. she could see Olivia sitting with Ace so she didn't want to disturb her at all soooo.. who else?
The girl looked around for a bit, noticing that Vivi seemed to looking for a partner too? Etta grinned, waving at the other prefect. "Want to team up?"

Hands washed and hair already tightly pulled back into two braids that came together to crown her head, Junia got to work adorning herself with protective gear. It wasn't the most fashionable look, but she felt she must come off as professional and serious, which was precisely what she wanted. She wanted to impress Healer Reed quite badly, did he know?
Looking around at those in the classroom, the fifth year decided it'd be best to partner with a younger student. She didn't immediately spot Abey, so her attention turned then to someone else she knew. "Cameron, be my partner." She wasn't asking. Quidditch enthusiasts stuck together, obviously. She tucked the tools she'd need into her bag neatly and then shouldered it, moving towards the door.
"Betony Leaves and Stargrass would be among other plants, don't you think?"

Vivian was trying to keep herself busy, checking on the other students and making sure they found partners for the mini activity. Maybe she'd just pick a lonely student later on, when everyone else had already secured themselves a other half. But what was that waving? She blinked, and she was sure she had seen someone trying to grab her attention.
Once she had focused well on who it was, Vivian grinned and waved back too! "Hi, Miss Etta!" She greeted and skipped towards the older prefect. "Yeah, of course!" Plus, having a fellow prefect with her would mean she didn't have to deal with the mess alone. See? And she totally trusted Miss Etta anyway, so she was totally a hundred perfect good with partnering up with her.
The next challenge would be... WHERE in the world would they be able to find those ingredients. "Fireseeds from... fire, right?" Pause. "Sorry, that sounded like a really dumb question." Fairfield, what u doin?

"We do, actually.." The brunette glanced at Healer Reed and smiled a little because yes, that was very clever of him to use his space like that for potions. "The herbal garden. When I went to speak to Healer Reed, I saw it. It's just by the waiting area outside his office. Come on." She spoke quietly, tugging at his sleeve as she lead them out of the room.

He was still trying to mentally prepare himself for this lesson - the whole focusing aspect of it - which mostly meant that he was Hufflepuff spiraling with a dash of Ravenclaw angsting. Or well...WAS until the sweet majestic voice of one Charlotte Kettleburn graced his ears and brought his attention from the random knot in the wood on the table under his nose to her always cheerful looking face. Well, not always. Derf had seen her not to happy before but he really did not want to think about those times right now. "Hey Charlotte!" he grinned just in time for Professor Healer to begin the lesson proper.
Oh. They weren't going to have to just sit here? WELL THAN THAT WAS AWESOME!
Although the thought of harvesting did strike a sliiiiiiight chord of fear within him because WHAT IF the harvesting meant...well...you know...
Thankfully and MUCH to the Hufflepuff's relief his fears were unwarranted. Quill out, Derf quickly scribbled down the three target ingredients on his piece of parchment for safe keeping - because he was likely to forget those by the time he left the classroom....save for FIRESEEDS because he actually had a hankering for collecting another one of those. For reasons.
Ahem.
Sorry Professor Healer...this kid here did NOT know his plants so that comment just made him feel something kind of terrible about himself. Well, again until it was Charlotte to the rescue that is. Now instead of a look of disappointed fear he wore one of hopeful admiration.
"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuum...." OH GOSH SO MUCH PRESSURE TO COME UP WITH THE PERFECT NAME SDLKFJDSJFSDFLSKJL. "I keep thinking about dragons and dragon eggs because of the fire seeds..." he muttered sheepishly as he slipped his goggles on over his head. Were the tips of his ears red? Kinda felt that way. "There are LOADS of fire seeds in the Forbidden Forest! Entire cave!" He paused and ruffled his hair. "Wonder if there is anything in the Hufflepuff common room cause...we have an indoor garden thingy..."
That terrifies him but shhh.

It wasn't much of a surprise when the first student to arrive was from Hufflepuff. True to their house, they were the harworking fellows he'd seen during his stay in Hogwarts ages ago. The seventh year earned himself a grin and a nod from the Healer, and polite greeting. "Hello, Mr Edwards."
His full name? Not quite, but he did chuckle at the greeting. They were almost done with the month of September and it seemed that the students still didn't know how to address him. Perhaps this was what Haraldur tried to tell him during the feast? It was indeed confusing. "Hello, Ms Spinnet. Glad to see you're ready for today's lesson." Just look at that energy!
She did, however, made River wonder with her next comment. Long and boring? Hopefully not. If anything, it'll be a bit of a challenge. Double period and all. "You be the judge, Zoryn." he replied with an earnest nod.
River looked up to see the next student, and nodded in greeting. "Healer Reed would be better, Ms Paton." He never did dream of becoming a Professor, to be honest.
The next student got herself a grin and a nod, in exchange for her small wave. "A good morning to you too, Ms Livingston." Merlin, some of these kids are tiny.
He did hear strange things from his colleagues, but River did not expect to welcome a student who was a quarter naked. Brows furrowing, he took a moment to look at the student wondering what on earth this kid was thinking. "Hello to you...too, Mr Carter. Aren't you too early for summer?" he said, quirking an eyebrow towards the boy and looked at his bare front. River approached the young man, and with a quick flick of his wand, Ronan's robe was stitched up tightly against the boy's torso, covering his chest temporarily. "Best that you stay warm in this drafty dungeon, yes? Hopefully, you didn't forget to wear a pair of clean knickers..." he added, placing a hand on his shoulder, leaning close to his ear to whisper.
River walked back up the front, giving himself the chance to walk with the Ravenclaw to her preferred workstation. "Good morning to you too, Ms Cambridge." the Healer caught a glimpse of his dogs wagging their tails excitedly.
River leaned back on his blackboard, as he watched another Ravenclaw enter the premises. "Hello to you too, Mr Katharos." Ah yes, classic Ravenclaw hmm? Those kids need not be told to get ready for class.
Ah. Another Ravenclaw! Good, good. River gave the NEWT-level student a nod and a grin to welcome her. "Good morning, Ms McNally." it was reported that this young lady got an impressive grade in Potions last term. He wondered if she'd be able to attain the same grade next term?
The Healer looked up, and leaned against his workstation as he watched the Hufflepuff enter the classroom, "Good morning, Mr Kovalainen."
"Prefect Salander, good morning." River grinned at the Lion, obviously chuffed with his choice of title. He did hear the uncertainty in his voice, but that was of course, totally acceptable. It would need a bit of getting used to. He watched the prefect pet his dogs, "Don't forget to clean your hands before we begin, Ace." he said, gently reminding the Gryffindor.
Hopefully, he wasn't in the midst of a brewing Ravenclaw angst. That look looked awfully familiar, and River hoped it wouldn't last long. "Hello to you too, Mr Willis. I hope you are feeling well?" Because there was a lot to do today.
The smile was returned with one of his own. At least someone in the room was in a good mood! "Hello, Ms Parks."
Not late today? Good. Very good. It could only mean that the young man was interested in this class. "Great, Mr Kowalski. How are you?"
Ah. The woman of the hour. River had been expecting Ms Hutchinson, given that today was his scheduled audit day from one of the Board of Governors. Though the IMPS was a success last term, the people from the BoG thought that it is wise to check on how things unfold in classes such as Potions. The Healer stood to his full height, gave the woman a nod and a grin to welcome her. "Good morning, Ma'am. Welcome to Potions Class." There was no need to make a big fuss out of it, or even introduce the woman, or let the class know about her business today, as what was stated in his memo. However, manners should still be present.
As Luci entered the classroom, River simply grinned at the Ravenclaw and nodded her way to reciprocate her wave.
"Yes, Ms Bellaire. And a good morning to you." he replied with a smile. His eyes followed this student to where she sat, and could see the curiosity getting the best of her. Hmm. Nope. It is best that they don't know.
River nodded at the Slytherin and gave him a grin in return. "Good morning, Mr Borzekowski-Thomas."
"Hello Ms Yenorin." River returned the smile and eyed the next student who came in.
The last time was a success to be honest, and River was thankful that he just had to vanish the contents of Theo's cauldron. Explosions were inevitable, but he was hoping he'd get lucky once more. "Hello Mr Montmorency." he did catch what the boy had to say to Zoryn, and was almost tempted to separate the two.
Merlin.
Hmm. Either Ms Potts wasn't in the mood, or she was sleepy!tired this morning. Hopefully that would change in a bit when everyone's present. "Good morning, Ms Potts."
Well...somebody missed the notice that was literally hanging beside the potions door. This young man obviously did NOT read the classroom rules. "Hello Mr Solo, we are glad to have you here today. However...that cauldron cake of yours --however fitting it is with the subject-- is a clear indication that you didn't read my classroom rules, and is not welcome here." TUT TUT, young fellow. "10 points from Gryffindor." he said, casting a quick vanishing spell on his food. "Take a seat, and we will begin shortly." Or...maybe just skip class, he didn't care.
The voice was unmistakable considering that he'd spent time with this young student, all thanks to Cam. River's dogs wagged their tails as they got their usual petting from Emmeline. "Good morning Ms Sparkes, it's good to see you again today." He did know about her hate for Potions, and was actually surprised to see her in attendance. Was that...some sort of progress? "Don't forget to clean your hands and wear your lab coat before we begin,"
Ah, another curious soul. "Good morning, Ms Harrington." River replied with a nod and a grin.
Progress, it had to be progress. Emmeline was in attendance, and so is Stasya. Perhaps she'd turned to Hirsch for advice, and was convinced that Potions was an important subject? Hmm. River wasn't entirely sure, but he hoped that that was the case. "Good morning, Ms Dalgaard-Volkova. Please wash your hands before we begin, yes?"
Hmm. A sleepy head? He still had to applaud these kids though. Potions at 9 in the morning, and a double period at that. "Good morning, Ms Marin. Try to stay with us," the idea of face planting on a cauldron isn't really a good thing, no?
Wasn't he too young to stay up late? River watched the sleepy student walk in, and even smirked as he watched him lay his head on his bag. Ah...no. That's not a very good idea. The mumbling wasn't heard, instead, River wore a mischievous smile and enchanted the boy's bag, its flap hitting him at the side of his head. "Wake up, Mr Carter. Nap time isn't until before tea time." It was a warning, definitely.
"Hello Ms Holden, and yes I did." That was a very late question to ask, was it not? River watched as she took a seat beside Ace and raised a brow. Yep, he may have caught on to something here...
Ah yes, another curious student. River had his hands tucked behind him and watched this particular Slytherin enter the room. If there was one thing to note, she'd definitely grown over the past few years, and hopefully, with that, she too had grown out of that silly phase of hers. "Good morning to you too, Ms Diggory." he offered her a kind smile, and moved on to the next student.
And here comes the newly appointed Head Girl...and a Ravenclaw to boot! How nice! River beamed at the NEWT level student, and gave her an approving nod. "Very well, Head Girl Valentine. I hope the same goes for you?"
River almost missed this particular student, given how quiet and stealthy she was. The Healer nodded in response and let out a chuckle, "I don't mind Ms Toussaint." Hmm. She just wanted to get right into business, hmm?
Was he excited to teach Potions? Sans the drama, yes he was. "Still excited to be doing it after a couple of weeks now, Ms Reynolds." he said, grinning at the Hufflepuff.
One of his curious students, yes? Good good. Although Beau missed greeting him, his dogs let out a single bark, in response. "That means good morning to you too, Mr Montague." Roscoed and Bumied, hmm?
"Prefect Forsfelle, hello." River gave the newly minted Ravenclaw prefect a grin and a nod of approval.
It was always a joy to see enthusiastic students, as if reciprocating the hard work that he'd put into his lesson today. The young Hufflepuff received a grin as she passed him by, "Hello to you too, Ms Kemp. Keep that energy up." she will be needing it.
River followed the Slytherin with his eyes, and he patiently waited for him to choose his workstation. Each can sit four students at a time, and he wondered if he's one of those picky students. "Good morning, Mr Dooley." he replied as soon as the boy got settled in.
He did not miss the yawn, and River was relieved that she didn't tear her mouth in the process. Hmm. 9am wasn't a bad time. Try 7:30 and they'll curse him for that. "Good day to you too, Ms Tyler." Oh and a relative? River didn't know. The Healer let them be as he watched the next student arrive behind Sam.
"Oh hello, Ms Morrison. Glad to have you here today." River offered her a kind smile, and gestured her to take her seat.
"Healer Reed is fine, Mr Erikson. Please take a seat." he too offered the youngster a grin and watched him take a seat and...what was that he was holding? Best to keep it away!
Hair tied? Good! "A good morning to you too, Ms Swann." River beamed at the young Hufflepuff in exchange for her equally bright smile.
River had his brows furrowed as he heard hurried footsteps that only grew louder as it approached the threshold. Lo and behold, Mr Derfael Ashburry-Hathorne in all his glory. The boy and his suitcase got an amused look.
Interesting. He's in attendance too?
Well and good, in his opinion.
Ah yes, one of the faces that reminded him of Jace. The Hufflepuff got a grin and nod in exchange for her smile and wave. "Good morning, Ms Zhang. You look well today." These teenagers really need to tone down their makeup. But really, what did he know?
Yes, one of the newly minted Prefects just made it on time, apparently. For some reason, he had high expectations from this young lady, given that both of her parents are Healers. Of course, he would know that bit of information considering that he still is the Healer...and has access to their medical records. Highly classified stuff, of course. The skipping was noted, and River was please that she was in a good mood. Again, they will be needing it to survive today's double period Potions. "Hello, Prefect Fairfield. I trust you're having a good day so far?" He'd heard that being Prefect was no walk in the park.
River glanced at his watch, and was about to shut the door of the Potions classroom when Charlotte walked right through the threshold. The cheerful wave was received with a nod and grin, before turning back to the door. They ought to be starting in a few seconds...
Noting that most of the students were already in the room, River quickly flicked his wand arm, shutting the door in front of him. The Healer waited a few more seconds until the noise of mild chatter died down.
After all the greetings and pleasantries have been said, River moved forwards to his own workstation, signalling the start of the class. “Good morning everyone, and welcome to another double period of Potions Class. Now, before we begin, I would like to remind the class that it’s perfectly okay to call me 'Healer', rather than Professor. I’m afraid I am stuck with that title until I cease to exist anyway.” he said shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly.
"Now, I noticed that some of you didn't get a good night's sleep last night, or are simply not hardwired to attend morning classes. I'm afraid I have no say in scheduling these things, however, it is not an excuse to skip this class entirely. Why don't we do something about that sleepy disposition, yes? It is common knowledge that one should be alert and focused before and during brewing sessions. SO, with that said, I would like all of you to stand up, wash your hands, wear your protective gears on, ladies and gentlemen who have long hair, please tie your locks into a ponytail, and let's get to harvesting your ingredients. That should get your blood pumping for the next two hours," Hopefully.
"Today, I will need you to provide the class three key ingredients for our Potion today. The ingredients are: 5 pieces of Betony Leaves, 32 grams of Stargrass, and 5 pieces of Fireseeds. You don't need to venture outside for this activity, as these ingredients are hidden in specific places. Considering that you know your plants and its provenance, you should find it easy to locate these ingredients within the Castle." Was that clear? Here's hoping they are AWAKE for this hunt. "While in your full protective gear, bring with you the needed tools and materials in harvesting these ingredients. Follow our standard protocols, most importantly, if you are NOT familiar with harvesting said ingredients, please ask an OLDER student to help you. Our PREFECTS are at your disposal as well." River continued as he eyed the badged students in his class. "Prefects, Head Boy and Head Girl, you will be my eyes and ears for this activity." If there was one thing he wanted to instill in his students, it would be a good balance between being responsible, and independent. Surely, their student leaders and older students are up for the task.
"You have 30 minutes to get this activity done. Whenever you're ready, off you go, and good luck."

Miranda had luckily been rested when she had walked into the potions classroom and wasted no time in getting up and doing just what their professor had instructed them to do.
First going and washing her hands and then pulling her longish blonde hair up into a sloppy bun and out of the way. then from out of her back she grabbed her gloves and donned them before going to retrieve her Harvesting equipment.
Dora was EXCITED, to say the very least. Her favorite cousin don't tell the others in the castle AND they got to do a scavenger hunt?! SHE WAS GOING TO OWN THIS POTIONS LESSON, BRUH!
Ahem.
Turning in her seat to wave at Addy she then turned to SAM. "Partners, right? " Of course they were! Question: Did anyone else care to join them?
Oh... he was greeting her. Shoot. She had slipped in and not done so in hopes that she would not disrupt his class... not because she didn't have manners.
Most of the time she did.
"Healer Reed. Thank you, sir. I hope you'll spare me a few minutes once your class is complete, " She asked, a laugh in her voice as Sam happened not long after. Seeee she was the cool, young, hip governor. AYE! Younger than most of the others anyway...
Directing her full attention to Sam now sue merely shook her head and gave a wink. No she wasn't teaching today, but she'd definitely talk to her after class was done and set up something for over the holidays. Hehe. Her adopted cousin was aces, man. Totally. But now... how interesting. A scavenger hunt for ingredients? While it was certainly fun and entertaining... Addy had thoughts on this.
Thoughts she kept to herself, but her quick quotes quill certainly scribbled on the parchment sat on her lap.

Aymeric might of smiled at the Professor when he asked about his feeling. It was heartwarming knowing the professors cared for their pupils and not only for their achievements. A kind professor, is not something that should be taken for granted.
"Ohhh... a chance to leave the horrid dungeons," Aymeric thought to himself,"wonderful." A small smile appeared upon his face knowing he won't be underground for thirty minutes. He eagerly stuffed his bag with the needed protection and harvesting gear. In addition he took a metal bucked for the fireseeds.
"Fireseeds need fire," the third year mumbled to himself. He knew exactly where to find the seeds. Any hardworking student should know where to find them. He doubled-checked himself, making sure nothing was left behind, and swiftly left the classroom.
He could always pair up with someone, but if he decided to do so, it would occur outside the dungeons.

That should get your blood pumping for the next two hours," Hopefully.
"Today, I will need you to provide the class three key ingredients for our Potion today. The ingredients are: 5 pieces of Betony Leaves, 32 grams of Stargrass, and 5 pieces of Fireseeds. You don't need to venture outside for this activity, as these ingredients are hidden in specific places. Considering that you know your plants and its provenance, you should find it easy to locate these ingredients within the Castle." Was that clear? Here's hoping they are AWAKE for this hunt. "While in your full protective gear, bring with you the needed tools and materials in harvesting these ingredients. Follow our standard protocols, most importantly, if you are NOT familiar with harvesting said ingredients, please ask an OLDER student to help you. Our PREFECTS are at your disposal as well." River continued as he eyed the badged students in his class. "Prefects, Head Boy and Head Girl, you will be my eyes and ears for this activity." If there was one thing he wanted to instill in his students, it would be a good balance between being responsible, and independent. Surely, their student leaders and older students are up for the task.

The grin from the Healer, made Remy chuckle as he moved through the classroom to wash his hands after he laid his own things out on his desk. Picking up a lab coat on his way back to his seat, he shrugged it on, and pushed the sleeves up his forearms a bit, as they were too short… At least this way it looked like it was a conscious decision. Mostly. Stupidly, the lab coat also just covered his knees, his height making the coat shorter in general on his body - yet with Sha, it had trailed on the floor like a wedding dress. Heh. The image it brought up made him smirk at the memory. Man, he missed his Pixie of a cousin. Making a mental note to owl her later, he paid attention to everyone else that came into the class.
He was hoping that his continued studying was going to help him and pay off. After all, if he was going to get anywhere with his transformations… he was going to need skill with potions and transfiguration… so it was in his own best interest to keep his grades up. Yes, yes it was.
Remy looked up quickly when the door closed, signalling the start of the class. Ready for some questions and note-taking, Remy picked up his quill. He was set. …. And he was quite awake, thank you very much. … Oh, well he had already washed his hands, and he had his protective clothing on.. So he didn’t need to do that. Listening, Remy ignored any instructions for hair, because really it wasn’t even long enough to really run his fingers through, let alone to tie up.
They were going to harvest their own ingredients. Oh. Well…. Okay then… What did they need? Did they know? What potion were they even making? Looking around, he tried to see if anything was on the board - but … nope. Okay, listening to the Healer, he wrote down the three ingredients that they needed to collect and the quantities they needed. Hmmm, well okay then. Scavenger hunt for ingredients it was.

”You’re going to need to get a lab coat from over there…” He pointed at the stand. ”And do you have fireproof gloves? They will be needed when we go to harvest the Fireseeds.” He gave the younger kid a kind smile as he thought through a list in his head of equipment that they would need. Three containers to avoid contamination, scales, clippers or a pair of tongs… Perhaps both to avoid more contamination… Hmm. Yes. Wouldn’t want to start off on the wrong foot… that really would just ruin the whole potion and would be a waste of two hours. Okay, so a towel to clean the implements between uses if it isn’t easy to use his hands. Yes. He looked at the kid and gave him another smile as he decided if he wanted to work with a stranger.
"Ooo, harsh." Matt said in an almost amused tone. 10 points from Gryffindor for bringing food because he was hungreh and didn't want to necessarily drink up whatever Potion they were brewing that day. Getting punished for being wise, tsk. Only at Hogwarts. "Tough professor, eh?" The Gryffindor added, a cheeky smirk playing on his lips. He was used to that.

He put his protective gear on and looked around the class room. "Anyone need a partner?" He said a bit louder than needed, but his southern accent sure to cut through the other students.
He turned his head and saw Dahlia needed a partner, maybe the familiar face would lend to an easier time finding their ingredients. "Hey Dahlia, want to be partners?" he asked while noticing the bloody baron floating into the room.

Well she wasn’t one of those struggling with the morning class seeing as she had managed to get a decent night’s sleep. Something about not having the stresses of last term but still wanting to do well in lessons. Still Cassie was up for whatever blood-pumping activity the Professor-Healer had in mind. Following his instructions, the sixth year checked to see the plait she had put her hair in earlier was still secure before washing her hands and putting on her protective gear. She then copied down what they would be needing to retrieve from around the castle. That was going to be interesting….searching through the expansive space for items that weren’t all that large.
Older students…that included her.
Cass let her gaze roam around the room as she prepared to leave. She heard calls that seemed to be claimed as well as offers other older students had given out already. “Anyone need help or want a partner?” she asked aloud, keeping an eye out.

Vi listened to Professor Reed as he explained the lesson for today. Her eyes widened at the mention of a scavenger hunt. Ah interesting twist indeed on a regular lesson. She was excited! And then Ace and her were partnering up so that was double exciting! Could the day get any better?
When the Professor had given all of the instructions, Vi looked to Ace who seemed to already have come up with a game plan. Wow. That was quick! She followed his lead and helped him where he needed it. She would be sous chef today to his head chef. Mhmm... "Leaves? Lead the way chef! I have no clue about the leaves but fire seeds... I know. First leaves, then seeds?" she said as she stood up, rolling the sleeves of her sweater up her forearms. Ooh this was going to be fun. Scavenger hunts were one of Kitty's favorite types of lessons. She remembered doing a particularly fun Arithmancy scavenger hunt several years ago. And now that she'd been a prefect for several terms, she knew the layout of the castle more than many and would probably be good at this.
But of course as she was head girl, helping the younger students find their way around without getting into trouble was more important than she personally finding all the things on the list.
She looked around to see if there was anyone who needed a partner. She spotted two first year students Patrick and Dahlia getting ready to partner. "Psst!" she said in a rather loud whisper. "I can't know for certain, but I would recommend you guys check the library. My intuition tells me you'll find something." She winked and walked off to the next first year.
