Transfiguration Lesson Two: Induco and Stilus tabella
As usual the door to the Transfiguration class swung open just a few minutes before the lesson was to begin at two pm sharp.
It's a partly sunny afternoon and some of the window are opened a few inches to let in the slight early March breeze. The only difference with today's classroom set up was the tables were set in groups of four suggesting that you might be working with whoever is sat at your table.
Beside the door as you walk in is a table with small bottles of orange juice, apple juice, or water should you be thirsty. There's also a variety of different muffins in sealed boxes that came straight from the houses elves.
Professor Camilla Stewart is sat on the edge of her desk at the front of the room, a bright smile on her face and ready to welcome those that walk through the door. Behind her is a large whiteboard with very simple instructions...

Take a snack if you like and find yourself a seat beside a friend or someone new!
OOC: This is not the first lesson the students have attended this term. If you like your students are welcome to call Professor Stewart, Professor Cami (Camilla) to lessen any confusion between the Muggle Studies professor and herself. Please make yourselves familiar with the Transfiguration and SnitchSeeker rules before posting.

The first thing he notice even before entering the class was how the tables were arranged. Oh group work? This could be interesting.
"Good afternoon Professor Stewart!" he greeted her with that notable Tenacius grin. Oh juice and muffins? Why yes he'd take some "Thanks!" he added as he raised the orange juice and a couple of muffins before settling in onto one of the tables.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes
Bounding into the classroom, the first things Samantha saw was the food. Those muffins looked yummy. Scooping one up she grinned at the lady sitting up front. "Good afternoon Professor Stewart, Thanks for the muffins." Taking a nibble of it, she read the board behind the lady. Sit with a friend? she could do that, seeing as one of her besties was right there. Making a beeline to where Tenacius was sitting, the lion girl plopped down into a seat beside him. "Hey," she said beaming brightly.

And Transfiguration class. It had been a busy week with studying as well as everything that was happening. She felt like the whole world was racing around her but at least in class things just seemed to slow down... a little. As she entered the classroom, she noticed that the windows were slightly open which let in a nice crisp breeze. Spring was just around the corner. Merlin. Then it'd be summer and.... Olivia didn't want to think of that just yet. Nope. Not now. "Hello Professor Stewart! How are you?" she asked with a warm smile. She was excited for the lesson and couldn't wait to find out what they were doing. Also they had snacks! "Thanks for the snacks!" She then helped herself to a muffin and a cup of water before spotting Ace and Sam here. Oh hey! Friends!
"Hey! How's it going?" she said, placing the food down at the table and slinging her bag on the chair. Then she took a seat opposite from Ace and Sam so that she could talk to both of them. Group work would be awesome!

Transfiguration wasn't one of her strongest subjects, but the Gryffindor came bounding towards the room with TONS of energy despite it. FOOOOOOD. Zoryn BEAMED at Professor Stewart. How come there were so many Professor Stewarts anyways? This always confused Zoryn. But AAAANNNYYYWAAAAYYYS.
"Hi Professor," she BEAMED big and wave LOTS. "We should probably cancel the great hall since we always get food in class." It was a good suggestion. With all the food they were given during lessons, Zoryn never felt hungry during their regular eating hours anyways.
After the quick exchange with her Professor, she turned to the rest of the room to find a seat. And OH OH OH they were working in GROUPS!!! Zoryn noticed a bUNCH of Gryffindors sat together already, so she went straight to them. Mostly 'cause Tenacius was there and he was THE BEST PREFECT EVER.
"Hiiiiiiii!" she grinned at the lot of them before jumping into the last remaining seat at the table. They wouldn't mind the fact that she was significantly younger than them, right? Also, they'd be willing to do most of the work... Right? It was only fair.

One of Théodore's more challenging classes since well he got distracted easily and well as he learned this class was all about concentration and well Théo had a hard enough time remembering to get the homework done for any class. The second year quidditch obessed lion strolled into the room whoa look at all the drinks. Did she expect everyone to forget lunch or something. Though might be more food if she thought that.
Huh.
"Hi Professor Stewart. Did we have homework. I forgot"
Best be honest about it.
He was suppose to sit beside a friend or someone new. Well that baically meant everyone. Never Théo could get that. There was already a four group of fellow lions set up and how thats weird. Ok Théo just took a random seat somewhere because it didnt matter where for him.

After certain other lessons, Stasya had decided that her issue with the occasional Transfiguration lesson involving creatures wasn’t that bad. Not when there were mandrake dissections going on, and the continued disappointment at creature parts being used in Potions. Transfiguration didn’t hurt the creatures, or at least she figured it didn’t. It just temporarily changed them into something else, and besides, she figured Professor Stewart wouldn’t mind if she chose not to do anything that might hurt a creature.
Walking into the classroom not long after Théo, she’d tried not to giggle at his question about homework. They probably did, but she was pretty good at remembering to do it. As long as it didn’t interrupt her trips to take care of Albus and to visit with Dobby. “Hi Professor Stewart,” she said with a grin, waving at the Gryffindor table as she passed by to sit at the table nearest the window. Just in case, and she’d made sure the seat closest to the window was open too. Because they hadn’t been told they couldn’t sit with friends, so she figured saving seats for them wasn’t wrong.

Bounding into the classroom with his enchanted suitcase dragging behind him, Derf gave the snacks and drinks ONE look over before a big fat NOPE appeared invisibly above his blonde hair. Nope because...NOPE. NOOOOOOOOOOPE.
But hello professor. There was a wave for you. Hello.
His bright blues did linger on the 100% Gryffindor table because sitting with Zoryn AND Olivia would totally be something he was keen on, but maybe another day. Instead he was now face with two 25% Gryffindor tables and a CHOICE to make. He really wouldn't have minded if Theo and Stasya moved so that they made a 50% Gryffindor table with 25% Hufflepuff, you know? But ultimately Derf decided to sit next to Stasya. "Hi," he grinned as he gave his trouser pocket a knowing pat. Because Scamander was saying hello as well, you know?

Skylar entered the transfiguration classroom and inevitably was struck by two things. The trouble Professor Stewart had gone to in getting sealed snacks for them to partake in, but also the fact that like 90% of the students present thus far were Gryffindors. Was this a Gryffindor only class and she missed the memo? Then she caught sight of Derf and assumed maybe it was a Gryffindor and Hufflepuff class, but Hufflepuffs did have a longer walk so obviously it made sense that Gryffindors arrived first.
Backtracking out into the hallway again, she unzipped her bag and checked her timetable again. Something she hadn't need to do since September and it was now March 1st so surely she would have known her schedule by now. And just as she assumed, Transfiguration was written right there. So where were all her housemates?
She hadn't thought she was walking that fast, but perhaps she just got lucky with the moving staircases.
Schedule confirmed, the fourth year re-entered the classroom and sent a brief apologetic smile towards the professor before taking a seat at the table with Théo alone present. There, she was sitting with someone she never sat with in classes, so that was a good thing, right?

Professor Stewart was fast becoming one of Emmeline's favorite teachers. Because they both had boy cruppies and...other reasons. This didn't change the fact that the subject she taught was HARD. At least she thought so.
The first year bounced into the room and greeted the professor with a biiiig smile: "Hiiii, Professor Stewart!" After a quick scan of the room, she waved hi to the other tables and grabbed a seat with Derf and Stasya of course! "Hi guys! How is everyone?" Meaning their creatures plus themselves.

Felicity was getting better at this 'on time' thing. Of course, she was still getting lost now and then, and the moving staircases weren't exactly helping the situation, but if she left wherever she was early enough, she was making class on time. And today seemed to be a day of making it in plenty of time, she noted, spotting Skylar sat with someone she didn't know from the doorway.
"Afternoon, Professor," she smiled as she entered the classroom, making a beeline for her dorm pal and the other person. "Hey," she greeted, dropping her bag to the floor as she took the seat next to Sky.

Vivian arrived in the Transfiguration classroom, panting. That was six flights of stairs she had tried to skip!run from the common room to grab her textbook, which she forgot. Also, the Slytherin wanted to try if she could beat her staircase marathon record. She had missed it by a few seconds, so yeah. She'd have to try again tomorrow. Taking a moment to lean onto the edge of the door and taking a breather, the fourth year beamed at the woman and waved at her. "Afternoon, Professor!" Yup, totally fine.
Oooooh, was that apple juice? For free? Vivian immediately nabbed a bottle after a moment of fresh air and then skipped to find a seat. And as usual, she sat with her Slytherin squad, Sky and Liss, over there. "Hi, ladies," Vivian said as she slipped into a seat on their table. The younger Gryffindor boy (Théo) got a finger wave from the blonde. "Hi!" Because she was feeling pretty hyped with that staircase marathon earlier.
And she did bring extra marshmallows everyday ever since that daggers lesson. Never to miss an opportunity for some campfire roasting here!

Ace had just taken the cap off his orange juice when Sammy slid into the seat at his table "Eyy Sammy" he grinned at his aunt cousin before spying on what kind of muffin she had brought to their table.
It wasnt long after that that the delightful Vi Holden joined them. "Hiii Vi..." he grinned happily at the wavy haired Gryffinlass, before remembering that Sammy was right.there and goodness he will never hear the end of the teasing if she saw the stupid grin on his face.
Then suddenly the last empty seat was filled by "Zoryn eeyyy!"he beamed a smile that can rival the infectious one on the young Gryffindor.
Wow look at all of them here. The Gryffinforce is strong in this table.

What a wonderful smile and all the waving too! The happiness radiating off Miss Spinnet was lovely and had Camilla waving back while laughing softly. "Hello there, Miss Spinnet, aren't you in a cheerful mood this afternoon." Cancel the Great Hall meals because of snacks? Laughing softly once more she answered with, "I'm not sure that would happen as the house elves work very hard to prepare those meals and I'm sure they would be upset if no one showed up to eat them." Plus a muffin at two in the afternoon wouldn't really ruin the students meals, would it?

"Hello, Miss Fairfield." Cami smiled again as Vivian went to join a table of students. It seemed most everyone was sitting with students from their own houses or those they knew well.
*****
With the entry of the last student, Cami waited another minute or so before flicking her wand in the direction of the door closing it silently. "Let me start off by once again saying good afternoon to you all. I hope everyone is doing well today." She looked at each table smiling her normal warm smile.
Picking up a large roll of parchment that was sat on her desk, Professor Stewart unrolled it. With a flick of her wand she had stuck the parchment up on whiteboard behind her desk. On this parchment was random writings of silly little stories, poems, random words in various shapes, sizes and colors.
"What would you do if you needed to write something down but didn't have any clean parchment on hand? Or perhaps you misspelled a word while doing your homework? Maybe you finished your essay but didn't like how a certain sentence sounded?" How would one fix that problem. Would they simply toss the parchment away and start over? It was a simple question with many answers they could give.
OOC: Hello everyone! Welcome to the second transfiguration lesson of the term! The lesson has now officially began but you're still welcome to jump right in and act as if you kid has been here they whole time (unless of course you want them arriving late ) Cami just wants to know what they would do should they have made a mistake during their homework or wanted to change something once it's written on parchment. Any and all answers are welcome, I'll be moving on in about 24 hours!

Despite scoffing at the question, Rooney's hand was the first in the air out of his class mates. "Those are very different scenarios, Professor. If there was something I needed to change, then there's rearrangement magic to try.. but if I had to write something without the paper, then I'd have to turn something into paper or....just remember it..?" Not that he wouldn't have anything to write on with him. There really was always a notebook in the back of his trousers. Two on most days, but always at least one. It was common knowledge, given that he had dropped them when fidgeting in class more than enough times.
Despite the food being apparently sealed, Sam didn't take any. She could only imagine Dora's reaction if she had. So she'd sat tapping her nails on the desk lightly whilst waiting for the lesson to begin.
And when it had, Sam couldn't help wonder how it related to Transfiguration. "I'd write it on me hand," she replied to the first question. As for the second? "Cross it out. And write it again." Either next to, if she'd realised straight away, or above if she hadn't. Surely the Transfiguration Professor knew that from her homework though? Sam didn't see the point in wasting parchment; when she'd first started at Hogwarts, she'd barely had the money for any supplies, and her thriftiness had stayed with her in the years since. The only stuff she re-wrote was her long essays (usually History ones) after her brother had red-penned them. No need for the Professors to see his edits!
So they were doing something involving erasing ink today? Huh. Sam figured that would be more likely a charm. Or a form of invisibility potion.

Tenacius was the BEST EVER. Man, she DEFINITELY made the right choice by sitting at the all Gryffindor table!! 'Cept, she did kinda wish Theó was at their table too, but oh well. Can't have all the good things at once, probably. She sent him a wave anyways and let out an obnoxious laugh when he asked about the homework... Though, Zoryn payed close attention afterwards to see what Professor Stewart said because she, too, forgot to do homework.
As for her MOST.AWESOME.EVER. table... She pushed two of her three chocolate muffins to the center. "Chocolate, duh!" Just beaming. This was gonna be such a great lesson!!!!
Only then was her attention pulled back to the front where her Professor stood addressing the class. Hm. The question stumped Zoryn momentarily before she raised her hand. She agreed with Rooney, mostly. "If I didn't have clean parchment, I just wouldn't do it," she nodded. It was reasonable and NOT worth any of the extra work. "But if it was just a sentence, I'd just cross it out and keep going!"
'Cause who cared about writing aesthetic anyway? That was a DUMB thing to care about. Though, she figured that the Ravenclaw Prefect would care. He seemed like the type.

Professor Stewart got a warm smile and a nod in response. "Very well thanks. Taking breaks while I can with studying." She was definitely following the woman's advice to approaching OWLs.
And the way that Ace greeted her and that smile made her stomach feel funny. Butterflies again but this time she didn't blush! AHA! One point to Holden for not blushing but the day still offered plenty of times for her to blush... Most likely. As soon as she took a seat, it seemed like someone else was joining. Oh and Zoryn was here. Olivia gave the younger girl a warm smile as she joined the table.
Wow! Now they had quite a table here. Ace, Sam, and Zoryn. This was going to be fun! To Ace's question about muffin flavours, Olivia spoke up after Zoryn. "I have lemon poppyseed." It was one of her favourite flavors and as soon as she saw it, she KNEW that she had to grab two of them. One to munch on now and one for later.
And class had begun. An interesting question. Hmm... "I'd draw a simple line through the word or sentence and continue writing. If it was pencil, I'd just erase it." The good old Muggle way.... unless there was a magical way to do that? Olivia was all ears. Could they transfigure an old piece of paper into a new one? "Is there a way to take the dirty parchment and change it into a clean one with a spell?"

The entry and than departure of a female Slytherin caught the professors eye and for a moment she was probably just as confused as Skylar was. Had something happened that she missed? No, she was sure things were alright especially when she returned the room looking somewhat sorry for coming in and out. "Hello, Miss Diggory. Is everything alright?"
Ah there was Liss and Vivi! Smiling gratefully at the arrival of roommates, she felt almost guilty now, having taken up residence at Théo's table because he was surrounded by Slytherin females. At the same time she wasn't sure that the second year would notice or care. When Professor Stewart greeted her and asked if everything was alright, she sent another apologetic smile at the woman. "Oh yes, yes, just fine, Professor. I just I had thought maybe this was a Gryffindor only lesson," she admitted quietly, shaking her head at the foolishness of that. Hogwarts hadn't separated out classes by houses in decades, maybe even in a century.
And then the lesson was starting. What kind of questions were these? Misspelled a word while doing her homework? If she didn't have any clean parchment but needed to write something down? "It'd depend but there is the possibility that I would just repeat the something over and over again until I got clean parchment. Or if there was something different I could write on, then I might do that...." she bit her lip. "I think there maybe is a charm or something that could fix misspelled words." She wasn't sure, but she was pretty sure she'd seen it used before.

Good, Good, Good. No homework just review. Which meant Théo didnt do it. But he was not in trouble. Very Good. He did wave back to Zoryn. Though the biggest surprise is before he knew it he was sitting with three older slytherin girls. Only one of which he kinda knew, Skylar. He smiled and said hi to them all.
Huh, wait was class starting already.
Oh, ok. It was and Théo did not know if he understood the questions. She asked a couple questions. Would writing on your hand work. He never tried it with a quill. But at home he did it with pens and stuff. He did not care about misspelled words. He just left those and winged it. Also who cares about how a certain sentance sounded. As long as it was done at all was a success to Théo. Not like he said anything out loud.
Ooo a charm to help with misspells would be awesome.
He would have to ask Chris if such a thing existed.

Something to do with parchment. That was the vibe Cassie was getting about the latest transfiguration lesson. At least from the first round of questions posed to the class. Quill and ink certainly was far less removable naturally than the pencils found more readily in muggle studies. But there had to be something to do to fix things other than crossing stuff out…right. The Ravenclaw leaned her chin on her upturned hand as she tried to think on the prospect, listening to her fellow classmates as they offered up their own ideas on the matter.
Rooney had rearrangement magic or conjuring new parchment. Sam had crossing it out as did a couple of Gryffindor girls of various ages. Then there was the charm to fix misspelled words that Cass had to admit could come in handy. “Perhaps using Evanesco or something like it that doesn’t vanish the whole parchment but just the writing.” That seemed to the fifth year it would work.
Well, those were different scenarios. Etta considered the questions for a long moment, absently staring at her parchment. She'd obviously considered a spell first, a vanishing spell.. perhaps? But it was already suggested by a fellow classmate so she decided to go with something else. Besides, she wasn't exactly sure if a vanishing spell would work? She hesitated before raising a hand to answer.
"Maybe there's a spell that would change the parchment into a brand new one? Or a spell.. that could vanish the writing so that the parchment is new again?" .. eh. They were just guesses and Etta wasn't exactly sure if they were right but at least, she gave it a try.. right?

Just as he was about to barter share muffins with his fellow Lions, the professor has started her lesson. He paused as he repeated her question in his head. Did he understand her correctly? "Professor if we made a mistake when writing something down on our parchment, we can use an erasing spell." which is something he's been using.
Yeah thats what crazy is, when its broken you say theres nothing to fix++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++And you pray that everything will be okay, while you're making all the same mistakes

Grinning as Emmeline joined their table, Derf really did not have time to reply when Professor Stewart began the lesson and had the Hufflepuf scratching his head soon enough. He had to agree with Rooney that these were two VERY different situations. Once meant you had nothing and the other meant you were rectifying a mistake.
He was faaaaaaaaaairly confident that what the professor WANTED them to say was that they would conjure paper, but Derf was afraid to conjure anything and his feeble attempts at flowers had been, er, awful...so he was not about to suggest that. Still, his hand went up.
"Us-s-se my hand!" he chirped. "Or arm....when I don't have any paper that is. But not my palm s-s-so much because sweat and it smears everywhere and s-s-somtimes rubs-s-s off on my face."
