The Great Lake, also known as the Black Lake, is a large body of water located to the south of the castle. It is about half a mile in diameter and the Hogwarts plumbing network drains into it. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows, with even Moaning Myrtle occasionally taking a swim. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. While busy with his kin, it is not uncommon to spot him or possibly receive a helping hand should you slip in after enough callings.
Boats and life vests mainly reserved for the First year's entrance and Graduate's departure still sit by the dock. With Sir McLeod's permission you'll be permitted to use them for a lovely afternoon of sailing. There are also several trees by edge of the lake. A Beech tree in particular with a hollow hole inside is filled with books that have been left there over time. If you take one, be sure to replace one in exchange to keep the system alive.

"Are you good at using the summoning charm?" It would take too long if she had to run up to the girl’s dorm for her skates, but she had never tried to summoning anything from that far away. "I left my skates in the dorm." Either that or maybe they could try transfiguring her shoes into a pair.

Catching her breath, her lips hurting from smiling, Noelle got up to her feet, and dug her skates into the snow so she wouldn't fall again. Getting up was obviously something that she wasn't good at... well on ice anyways.
"Summoning charms? Oh yea. What do you need summoned?" Noelle asked Bella before noticing her frightenly red fingers that needed to be gloved. Or was she talking about skates? because there was no way she would be able to summon the skates. She definitely didn't want to be slicing anyone up, herself included. "I can transfigure your shoes into skates if you would like." She looked down at her own skates. "I did mine."
And she was proud of them.

DA DUM DA-DUM, DA DUM DA-DUM!!!! Peeves sped toward the lake, loudly humming the wedding march. The pranks worked! Those stuffed turkeys on the Board finally caved and agreed to let him marry his sweet sweet love Miffy. Took them long enough!
He cackled giddily, bouncing mid-air. He couldn't wait to tell all the studentsies the wonderful news! While he was waiting, he casually turned over a few stones and tossed them aside, singing at the top of his voice. "Must find a wedding ring, could be anything! A worm, a twig or rubber band, a leaf, a bug, a stone! Something to go on Miffy's hand and mark her as my own!!!"
There, that should get the ickle beasties' attention!

The weather was still biting and crisp, but Olivia Phillips was out on the grounds, anyway... bundled up in her winter cloak, gloves, and boots. A dumb move, seeing as the castle was perfectly warm and inviting, but she felt she couldn't bare the stuffiness that had settled around her another moment.
So, here she was... and there was Peeves. What was... he screeching about? And.... where was Miffy??
A WEDDING ring....
Not having anything else going on, and being slightly more daring in the wake of her recent heartache, she approached the mischievous entity.
"Good afternoon, Peeves." Pause. "Hows the jewelry hunt going?" It was all perfectly casual and pleasant.

Even in the middle of winter, Frankie still managed to force himself to go outside for us daily run. Being motivated and actually doing this form of exercise outside of the castle during this time of the year was always a struggle for him, but he knew that it was good for him -- it kept him healthy while at the same time made him endure to the temperatures of harsh winter.
Today he decided that the lake would make for some good scenery. Typically he would run along the edge of the forest, but the lake was calling him for some nostalgic reason he didn't care to admit out loud. There were only a few more months of him seeing that lake every day.
As he ran, the Head Boy did all he could to clear his mind. It was too early yet to be thinking about life beyond Hogwarts. So, instead, he just concentrated on his steady breathing, the long strides in his step, and ... what in Merlin's beard was all that singing about?? The words didn't register in the boy's mind, only the dreadfully off-pitch sounds that rang in his ears.
Seeing the poltergeist flipping over stones and an approaching Olivia, Frankie decided to take a temporary break from his run. Peeves being around, as the last few months of the term had made crystal clear, meant that he was up to something.
"Hi, Olivia," he greeted the Gryffindor with a smile. The blond's gaze then switched over to the poltergeist. "What brings you out here, Peeves?"

He was going to need a new plan. The previous one was a bust and if the Gryffindor planned to make it to the bottom of the pond before summer, he would need to do some re-evaluation. Surely there was SOME reliable way of doing this, Both the bubble head charm AND the gillyweed were long term asking for trouble.
Blaise walked the shore of the lake, hoping for an idea to hit him but half an hour later, the only thing that hit him was the loud singing of...Peeves? Really? And what was he on about a wedding ring--oh right, he was pushing for that wedding no one particularly cared about. Why the poltergeists couldn't just have a private wedding in the dungeons by themselves was beyond him. What did it matter if the staff and students attended? It wasn't like they were friends and well wishers.
His first thought was to walk the other way. His last run in with Peeves left him with a bitter taste in his mouth where he was concerned. The Gryffindor might have turned around too until he caught sight of Livvy and even Frankie. Why did this look normal? Why was there no chaos and havoc like he'd become accustomed to?
Unfortunately, curiosity was a hell of a thing for a Gryffindor like Blaise Bellaire and the 14 year old found himself drifting closer, quill and notepad in tow. "There's worms in the very shallow parts of the lake. If you want one so bad, go get it." Hard not to catch the poltergeist's words when he was yelling them. "Although, if I gave Clara a worm for a ring, she'd probably punch me so you might wanna think of something less....I dunno...wormy." He looked between Frankie and Livvy, as if waiting for their input, because really, worms?

The weather was super cold. Carl thought he might go numb if he stayed out at the Grounds any longer. However, he felt bored inside the castle with only homework keeping him busy. It was the reason why he had headed out in the first place - to clear his mind. The crisp air did help, until...
he heard Peeves singing. Hearing the Poltergeist sing was never a good experience. The Hufflepuff had learned from his years at Hogwarts that his songs were almost always followed by a nasty prank.
But this time Peeves seemed to be singing about finding a wedding ring! Awww, that was sweet. He approached the small group gathered around him. "Hi," He said to Olivia, Blaise and the Head Boy before he continued listening to the Poltergeist. "I do have a spare... ring. How's this?" He pulled out a rubber band from his pocket and showed it to the Poltergeist. As Blaise said, Miffy might not enjoy having a worm for a ring.

This was supposed to be guitar sesh times. But it was hard to do any free style acoustics when a poltergeist's shrill voice was echoing around the lake and disrupting the ambiance.
With a huff, the Gryffindor Ace stood up and walked towards the peeps already around Peeves. He figured if he could help out with this ring picking business, the sooner the poltergeist can go away and get on his honeymoon... or whatever it is that poltergeists do.
"Need a ring eh?" the leonine lad chimed in as he joined the group. "Do you even know what kind of ring Miffy would want? Like... is she an environmental crusader because I'm pretty sure there are some toilet paper rolls we can spare." You know from the ones you threw around and wasted Peeves.
"If she's a one of a kind kinda girl....." because arent all love struck spectres think their girl is one of a kind "...then what about a fish skull? You know just poke out the eyes and trim the skull down to size then you gotta ring." Kinda morbid, but then again poltergeists so this is right up their alley eh?

WHEEEEEEE!!!! More studentsies! Peeves squealed with glee as other people started showing up. One of the Gryffindorks said something about getting punched in the face. He floated up to the boy and blew a loud wet raspberry right in his face. PFFFFFFFT! "Shows what you know, SMELLaire!"
Then the Fluffypuff pulled a rubber band out of his pocket. Peeves gave a loud snore. "BORING! NEXT!"
He was only half listening when slimy Salamander started talking, but then the words "fish skull" caught his attention. Now there was an idea! "DING, DING, DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!"
He whizzed in circles around the Gryffindork's head, singing, "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!"When he finally got tired of that, he said, "Congratualtions, Mr. Salamander! You've won the glorious honor of being my best man! Oooh, lucky!"
"OY, YOU TWO!" he yelled, pointing at the Fluffypuff and SMELLaire. "You lucky duckies can be my groomsmen!"
Then he zoomed away to tell Miffy the good news!

Peeves was now whizzing around his head so much so that the Gryffindor Ace has started to get dizzy. Just as he was about ready to swat him away-- or out barf him first, in case this was where it was leading to-- the poltergeist said the most dumbfounded thing.
Best man? Who him?
"Wow, uh thanks!....."he thinks? Far be it for him to be ungrateful, he sorta smiled as the poltergeist roped in Blaise and Carl too. Whew! At least he wouldnt be alone looking like a deer caught in the headlights yeah?

Blaise looked about at everyone present, not sure he'd just heard right. One minute they were talking rings and the next Tenacious was the best man and he was going to be a groomsman?
Welp, something to tell his Mum about in his next 'behaviour report'. He'd never been one of those before and as much as he thought this was all completely ridiculous, it was also dead interesting.....in a weird....sort of way. How even did poltergeists get married? Was the wedding the same?
At the very least he'd have some good material for his quill so the boy wasn't about to complain. "Uh....." He began after a moment of silent blinking. "I...guess that just happened." A groomsman. Fancy that.

Dora was immediately distracted by a very lovely flower growing near the water's edge and began to lead them that way. DID CHARLOTTE SEE IT?

She wasn't keen on not knowing things... it meant that something could possibly hurt her or something. "Well, I am not sure about that line of thinking, Char... or not thinking in this case." She was not so good at just doing things. Too much bad had happened because she didn't think before she acted. Mhm.
Boyfriend. This was no surprise, really. "Henry? Dalton? Who is it? Hey, I am sorry I haven't been around much. I will do better. So tell me everything!" she said gently before bending to pluck the flower up and stick it behind her ear. NOW THEY HAD TO FIND ONE FOR CHAR!

Considering that Sam needed a break from revising and it was rather sunny out, the young Gryffindor made his way down from the library and out to the grounds.
His lizard Taco accompanied him in his pocket as he walked in the direction of that Beech tree with the book hollow in it. It was a hobby of his to check the hollow and exchange the book inside with one of his own.
This time, as he pulled out the hard-bound book inside, he was met with a small caterpillar crawling across the cover. If the creature didn't have all those little legs, Sam might've amused himself with a pun and called the little guy a bookworm.
