At the top of the north tower some ways down from the Astronomy classroom is a large rooftop garden that has been expanded in memory of the late Marion Burbage, substitute professor of Astronomy. Lush green hedges and flower beds line the perimeter of the area and a large fountain greets you towards the opposite end. Located to the left of the fountain is a stone plaque engraved with words from the Headmistress herself which reads :
Rest in peace old friend, beloved wife, renowned stargazer, and special professor. Always in our hearts.
Beside this plaque lays another plaque placed in memory of another professor who gave their life while in service to Hogwarts. The plaque reads :
In Memory of E.M. Forrester, a brilliant space scientist, educator, and Slytherin Head of House. He will be missed.
Wooden benches and tables are scattered throughout the patch for students and professor alike to lounge, reflect on social events, complete homework tasks, and just generally hang out.

One place that Clara had frequented last year, but hadn't returned to so far this year, was the tower patch. She'd been up there many a time with Paris - it was him that had introduced her to it - and she'd also been up by herself, just to relax and get away from hectic Hogwarts life. Being up so high up made it almost possible to forget just how many people were below her and how many troubles filled her day to day life ..... but, up there, her problems just seemed to vanish.
Today she didn't particularly need to get away, she was just feeling quite nostalgic ... especially since this would be her last year at Hogwarts, her last chance to come up here. Even if she did have the entire year left, she wanted to make the most of. So, with her sketchpad, as usual, tucked snugly under her arm, she made her way over to one of the wooden benches.
She could just admire the view for a while .....

Rusty had been to the library. Again. Honestly, she could not understand how people weren't trying to stuff their brains full of magic, because Rowan was enthralled by all of it. Anyway, she dragged her pile of books up as many stairs as she could. They were pretty heavy, and she could only just see over the top of them, but she wanted to be as high up as she could, so she persevered.
Finally, she ran out of stairs, and came across a garden-y place. She'd never been here before, and she stretched her neck to peer around over the top of her book pile. Wooow... "Hi Clara." she said, walking over and finally - very carefully - putting down the pile of books. "It's cool up here!"

Rusty hopped up onto the bench next to Clara and looked around, it was pretty amazing, being all the way up here, and she wasn't surprised that the Ravenclaw liked it - birds liked to roost up high right? Right.
"Potions, mostly." she said, picking up the book from the top of the pile. "Ingredients and stuff. A lot of them don't make very much sense, it's like they aren't really English so reading them's kinda hard." Rusty turned to the page that her owl-decorated bookmark was on and tapped her finger on the passage she'd been reading, which was written in some sort of old fashioned english, with lots of long words and things. "It's about acorns and I'm trying to figure out if you can replace larvae and stuff with seeds cause they're like baby plants so they still have all the life inside them and I thiiiiink that's what larvae are used for."
...
But she wasn't wholly sure, so she was trying to find out if anyone had done comparisons before.

Coming to the Tower Patch for a bit of fresh air and to clear his mind, the suited astronomer made his way over to the fountain with a package of Fizzing Whizbees hanging from the grip of his right hand. Noting the condition of the foliage as he walked, Airey figured he ought to consult Marion at some point about whether or not the plants were doing well or of something specific needed to be done. He would ask the Headmistress...but she terrified him still.
And now that Sabel was no longer a suspect...well...let's just say he was leaving his options open.
Sitting on the edge of the fountain - away from the memorial plaques - Airey tore into his sweets and popped no less than five into his mouth at once. Closing his eyes, he sucked on the mouthful of candies while reflecting upon a certain tiny green Jedi master. Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose...
Yeah...he would make a rubbish Jedi. Which was why he was going to pretend he was one with the Force by using these candies to float while he did some quiet meditation.

He had a headache... and the whole numb-it-with-ancient-runes-homework trick wasn't working. Such a shame, it simply meant he was FORCED to take a break, and so that's exactly what he did. Deciding to head out for some fresh air, Zeke had trudged down and up stairs, coming out atop the Tower Patch. AIIIIIIRRRRRRR...EY?
Zeke had meandered some way, his hands in his pockets until his hazel eyes locked on his floating Head of House.
Of course, this sort of behaviour didn't surprise him anymore, not really, and it made him wonder if that was a bad thing. Nevertheless, he suspected candy was involved. Where was his?
"Just chilling' Professor?" he asked, taking a seat beside Professor Airey.

Popping what he thought to be the last of his Fizzing Whizbees into his mouth to prolong his levitation mediation, Airey discarded the packaging by unceremoniously tossing it over his right shoulder and right into the waters of the fountain where it was pushed up against the side by the water as is lapped against the stone. One lone Fizzing Whizbee, previously stuck to the bottom of the wrapping, became dislodged from the water and bobbed up and down in the fountain's waters. The astronomer, however, did not notice this as he had finally found his moment of zen and was relishing in it.
Or WAS...until someone's voice entirely broke his concentration.
At least he, unlike Luke Skywalker, did not come crashing down to the ground (or worse into the fountain). One of the perks of not actually being one with the Force, he supposed.
"Something like that, Mr. Zeke," he sighed as he squinted out of his right eye.

Whhhoooops? He wasn't interrupting, was he? WAS HE? The look out of the corner of Professor Airey's eyes told him he might be. It was a shame there wasn't much he could do about that now, ahem.
"Got a headache too?" he asked in an effort to be nosy and kick up conversation. Though why anyone would want to converse about headaches he didn't know. "I've got one from homework, don't reckon you could sign me a pass to hand it in late could you?"
His hazel eyes leaving his Head of House, Zeke turned them instead to their surrounds. It was NICE up here. With like, the green stuff, and the fountain.... the sound the water made reminded him of heavy rain. It was as he was watching the water fall that he realised there was something in the water. Was that A candy?! Wasting away in the water?! "Is that a Fizzing Whizbee?"

Now facing the third year, the astronomer gave him a quick up and down. "Been drinking plenty of water? I also suggest a few bites of chocolate."
Chocolate helps, it really helps.
Following Mr. Zeke's line of sight - which meant he had to lean over a bit to look at the water below him - he nodded his head and pursed his lips at the bobbing candy and piece of rubbish. "It appears so. Wonder how on Earth that got there."

Not quite what Clara had intended when she had moved up for Rusty, but, okay.
The seventh year perked up at the mention of Potions, it was one of her favourite subjects. Odd, considering the facts that it was basically like cooking, yet she couldn't cook. "Old English? I could try and help you understand them, if you like." She wasn't perfect at 'translating' older English into modern text, but she probably knew more than Rusty did.
Blink, blink. Interesting concept. "You might be right," she nodded, impressed. "It's always worth a shot to find out?" Obviously, with potions, a lot could go wrong, but if enough research went into it and they had ways of reversing the effects then it shouldn't be a problem. "It's possible that it could weaken the effects of the potion, but ..... you never know." Honestly, Gabriel was a better person to ask about it all. Not that Rusty had asked, but ...... Clara was intrigued, okay?

So he COULDN'T have a pass on that homework then??? ... Sigh. Though he supposed Professor Airey was onto SOMETHING with he whole tension headache thing. "I guess," he had replied. Not really knowing the difference between that and any other form of headache. It was all the same as far as he was concerned - painful and annoying. He watched, slightly amused as his Head of House flapped around to face him. That... looked like fun.
"Chocolate's the foundation of my diet, Professor, but I guess I could drink more water..." Maybe. MAYBE. Water wasn't nearly as appealing as hot chocolate though, or juice, or butterbeer.
And so it was, confirmation of the sweet going to waste in the water made him frown slightly, a hand snatching into the water. "It's wet, you don't want it, I'll make sure it doesn't go to waste." Ahem. He was all for helping himself to candy. Fortunately for him he didn't believe in the ten second rule, or twenty second rule... or five minute rule. So long as it wasn't covered in dirt that couldn't be washed off, then it was fair game. Of course, if Professor Airey really wanted it, he SUPPOSED he could pass it up....

But before he could inform the Gryffindor of this sobering fact, all attention was brought back to the floating piece of candy and packaging in the fountain. "Not sure how it got there," the astronomer denied. "But if you want it by all means be my guest." Waterlogged candy did not sound terribly appealing to the professor, who pretended to pride himself on a sophisticated palate.
He would just stay floating up here, thanks.

Cinna needed to get out of the castle, it was way to warm inside the castle for her. It was pretty nippy out here, but it felt good to get out. She didn't want to go all the way down to the ground to be outside so this was the perfect place to come. She pulled her jacket tigher around her As she walked around. Like she said it was just nice to get out for a while and not be cooped up.
She walked around not to much to look at at the moment. All of the flowers and plants were dead, and covered with snow. The fountain was frozen over, there really wasn't anything do out here, except for to sit out here. She found a nice dry bench. No work. Someone must have just left here. No snow on the bench and it was dry. She plopped down on the bench. Now what? She pushed the snow around with her feet under her.

"How are you?" Patting the seat next to her. As odd as this felt, it also felt nice too. She would be lying if she said that she didn't miss Lux, even a little bit. In fact some part of her wanted them to be friends again. Friends, it was something that she never really had a lot of. Most of her friends just sort of dropped her. Kind of like how she did Lux. That was karma at its finest she supposed.

The response to her greeting came as such a relief, that the redhead immediately at down on the bench. It felt so good to be able to do this again even if it was something as simple as sitting and having a conversation. She had missed her friend so much.
But oh, she was being asked a question. "I'm good!" Things were amazing because she was going to be an aunt and she had just talked to Bay. She smiled. "I'm just happy to not have to do OWLs again." And to talk to her old friends even if it wasn't the same as before. That part would go unsaid...at least for the moment. "How are you?"

That. Was. A. Yes. Or it may as well have been as good as. Either way, Flamsteed wasn't going to be indulging in the candy. He'd think it was a shame, except that it wasn't, he just WON.
"Will do," he accepted very quickly, turning and propping his leg up in the side so he could lean over and reach for the wrapped candy in the water. He plucked it out with ease, not even for a second feeling as though he might fall into the water.
He wiped it on his robes casually. "Sure you don't want it? If I'm to forfeit candy to anyone, Professor, it'd be you." Speak now or forever lose his PIECE of candy. Yep. This was exactly what the Healer ordered. It was always goof to keep up ones blood-sugar levels, it'd be good for his throbbing head, right?

This was exactly what the Healer ordered. It was always goof to keep up ones blood-sugar levels, it'd be good for his throbbing head, right?
Peeking over his shoulder as the Gryffindor went fishing for rubbish from the fountain, the professor savored what was remaining of the candies in his mouth. Pity that they would be gone soon and thus end the moments of weightlessness that he had been basking in so much.
"Oh, well done," Mr. Zeke, he beamed as he offered the young man a quiet round of applause and completely ignored the young man's question. "Take 5 points for picking up someone else's rubbish."
Fine service to the school it was. Especially in light of all those cobwebs.

Of all the things he expected Professor Airey to reply with, five points was not that. There was ZERO fight for the candy, just no contention whatsoever, and on top of that, he was being rewarded for ... his services in well THIS? OKAY THEN.

Purposefully on accident, Zeke removed the candy from the wrapper - dried it on his sleeve and popped it in his mouth - dropping the wrapper to the floor. WHOOOOOOPS. "I should get that. Picking up your own rubbish is as much a service to the school as picking up someone elses." No?
Of course, it was then that a brilliant idea struck him. He could take this opportunity to show off. Show off, and MAYBE earn more points.
Producing his wand from his holster, Zeke aimed it at his target . Flicking his wand no less than three times, Zeke repeated the incantation "Geminio," no less than three times also. As a result, there were now four wrappers on the floor instead of just one. Scooping them up, he held them out to his Head of House. LOOK! So... that was another twenty points, right? RIGHT?
For a moment Lux honestly thought that Cinna might ignore her.
The response to her greeting came as such a relief, that the redhead immediately at down on the bench. It felt so good to be able to do this again even if it was something as simple as sitting and having a conversation. She had missed her friend so much.
But oh, she was being asked a question. "I'm good!" Things were amazing because she was going to be an aunt and she had just talked to Bay. She smiled. "I'm just happy to not have to do OWLs again." And to talk to her old friends even if it wasn't the same as before. That part would go unsaid...at least for the moment. "How are you?"
Cinna did have a lot of things on her mind at the moment. She was absentmindedly thinking about them. Thought she didn't want to think about it, not the sad stuff yet she had plenty of time and should enjoy it while she could. She still had the summer as well. again plenty of time.
Smiling, this was almost like it used to be. Not exactly, not close either. She smiled at the red head "I'm great. Really great." Her smile grew bigger, things were great in every part of her life right now. Even the things she was thinking about. "Yeah, So am I but I feel like I should be studying for NEWTs already." Only because she felt like she should get started on it.

Airey floated there in silence as he watched the Gryffindor with an amused smirk tugging at either corner of his lips. Clever and ambitious. It was almost surprising that Mr. Zeke hadn't been sorted into Slytherin at times. Almost. The Gryffindor Head of House new a lot better than to go as far as to think so seriously.
"Cute, Mr. Zeke," he mused as the effects of his sweets continued to wear off and he floated closer and closer down towards the fountain. "Although picking up trash in this manner will not earn you any points as one should not litter in the first place, do take another 5 for your sense of humor and ability to to perform some rather advanced spellwork with such ease."
Chuckling, the astronomer was about to give one last smirk when all levitation effects wore off entirely - and unfortunately the man was no longer hovering over the edge of the fountain but the water. With a dull SPLASH, the gangly professor landed in the water and sent cold wet pearls in every which direction.

She tried to not think about things. She had plenty of time for that. She was going to take it the way that it happened. And hoped that things would work out. Of course things would work out they always seemed too.
Cinna smiled widely. "I heard that cool. Aunt Lux." She giggled "I'm an aunt did you know?" She couldn't remember if she had told her about Harper or Mercedes being her half sister. It had been a really long time since they had last spoken.
"NEWTs. Ugh I'm not ready for those yet either." Did she have to this about it? She would face to at some point but right now she just wanted to focus on other things especially right now. "How are things? Have you talked to Bay lately?" She finally looked up at Lux and gave her a small smile.
