| | |  Charms Lesson 2 - Capture the Fort!

Though the class is taking place at it's usual time, bright and early 9 am, there is something very different about the location. What? Well naturally even the least awake among you would notice that instead of standing in neat rows in Classroom 2E you are all headed out by the rickety wooden bridge that leads to the rest of the grounds. The trek out here should be a good waker-upper for those that need it.
The scene is as unassuming as any other with the exception of the area getting warmer and warmer as you approach. Yes, the Professor has taken care of that pesky little weather hitch that happens at this time of the year while you're here out on the grounds. There is still a bit of fog lingering but it's expected to clear up or be removed by the time the activity rolls around. The air is crisp and has a freshness to it that you couldn't get even with the wide windows of the classroom back in the classroom flung open as they usually are.
A peaceful morning really.
As you cross the grounds and come to a stop at the bridge, you find the Professor leaning against the railing with his eyes cast down into the ditch that lies below the bridge. Might be he's looking at something. Might be you can see it to. Just might be he's bored and waiting for his students to arrive; there's really only one way to find out.
Gather around, the lesson will be beginning shortly.
OOC: Class has not yet begun, be sure to brief yourselves on the rules once more before posting. I'll be moving this class in about 12-18 hrs hopefully ^^

It had taken her three months to nick enough green apples from the kitchens that it would fill an entire barrel. Stealing apples from breakfast hadn't been the hard part - it had been stealing a barrel from the kitchens without a house elf getting on her case.
There was no need to ask how she'd finally done it, though. The point of the matter was that Sophie Brown was levitating a wooden barrel full of crisp green apples down to the wooden bridge with the goofiest, giddiest of smiles on her face.
When this sixth year said she was going to do something, she meant it.
"QUIGGLES," she greeted with enthusiasm, unafraid to hold back on such a nickname since they were alone for the time being. "I've come bearing great gifts." She levitated the barrel and set it down beside him, then crossed her arms and looked entirely too smug with herself.
Boom. That was how it was done.

Time for another Charms lesson. Kace knew from the night before this was gonna be an early lesson but did he fall asleep early. Psshhh haahahahah NOPE. He stayed up late as usual but I mean he learned to function on little sleep. He went to the great hall early to get breakfast though. He wouldn't miss out on his favorite donuts and milk. No surey. He also managed to bring along a cup of coffee. As he made his way to the classroom, he opened the doors and he just went like this....

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CLASSROOM!?
He had to blink and double blink again. Surely his mind was playing tricks on him this early in the morning. He shook his head and then came to the conclusion he wasn't dreaming. The Professor changed the scenery. He wondered what the scenery was gonna be used for today. As he made his way to the Professor he noticed it was warmer near him. Thank merlin because it was chilly. As he waited for the others, he greeted Maddox with, "Hello Professor interesting setting choice you got here. I thought I was dreaming or my mind was playing tricks on me this early in the morning.." he laughed and took a sip of his coffee. He now had a fine taste for coffee all of a sudden. Probably because of those NEWTS.

It was early in the morning not that early but still, it wasn’t like being outside in the cold was her thing? Because it really wasn’t. Puck simply pulled her cloak tighter around her as she basically ran down from the Gryffindor tower to the rickety wooden bridge.
Seriously, hopefully whatever charms they were working on would make the thing a little more sturdy? And less likely to blow over in a breeze. Walking up she just made sure to put a smile on her face only to raise a quizzical eyebrow at Professor Quigley.
“Hello Professor Quigley,” she smiled over to him.
What was he staring at? She wondered as she tipped her head and tired to look over the edge of the railing to the ditch below. What was he doing?

Norah, who had been bundled up in two Hufflepuff scarves AND two hats on account of the Hogwarts coldness happening all the time now, began to regret that particular decision as she neared the wooden bridge and found that it kept getting warmer. Whut. She pulled off the hats first, and then both scarves when she'd reached where Quigley and the students were standing. MAYBE she was panting and red faced because SOMEBODY had dressed for the wrong type of weather, but maybe she wasn't because that'd be horribly embarrassing and fourteen year olds didn't embarrass themselves in front of the whole entire class. It was a rule. Or something.
"Hello," PANTPANT "Professor Quigley. Anything," PANTPANTPANT "cool down there?" Toooootally not out of breath, nope. Maybe she just breathed like this sometimes. Didja ever think of that? Stuffing her scarves and hats into her bag, she went to stand next to Sophie Brown who was looking wonderfully smug which probably meant she was RADIATING coolness because Sophie Brown had all sorts of reasons to be smug but if she looked smug too then it was probably EXTRA awesome. It only made sense. "Hiya Sophie." See that? Her breath was already normal-er and everything and she'd only been standing next to the prefect for a couple of seconds. Magic.

These days, Toby was rarely surprised when they were instructed to go somewhere other than a classroom for a lesson. He was curious about why the bridge, of all places. Would whatever they were doing have something to do with... leaving the bridge? As in, over the edge? Maybe they were going to make each other fly. Where would the sense of adventure come into it? That was the question, the question Toby was eager to find out the answer to. Just... as long as it was nothing like Transfiguration. He didn't think he could cope with anymore giant, hungry spiders.
Toby arrived at the bridge, all dressed in his comfortable clothes, and wearing a jacket because COLD. Except... it wasn't cold here. In fact, Toby was now just TOO WARM. He quickly shrugged the jacket back off before he could overheat, then worked on wrestling something out of the pocket. It took a moment, but soon he had it. An apple, of course.
"Morning, Professor Quigley," Toby finally greeted the professor, stepping over to dutifully place the apple on the railing beside him, though hopefully not so close that it would be knocked into the abyss ditch below. And was that... a barrel of apples? Didn't take Toby too long to see the smug look on Sophie's face where she stood nearby, and he easily put two and two together.
And she called him a nerd. Suuuuuuuure.

Eden had three shiny, red apples wrapped in napkins, bringing them down with her to the bridge. She had gone for a jog earlier, so she was wide awake. Balanced breakfast and all that jazz. This was a nice change from her usual yawny self.
Sophie Brown had, of course, lived up to the very secret nickname Eden had playfully given the girl in her head. Sophie BROWN-NOSE. Hehehe. She didn't mean it meanly, but she thought it was a bit MUCH for her to bring a WHOLE BARREL of apples.
Like, seriously?
Way to make the rest of them look bad, Soph.
heh. Girl still got a wide grin from Eden as she approached..."Hi, professor--" she held out the three apples.

Because this was clearly NOT the regular Charms classroom though he was THRILLED to be standing at his favourite place at Hogwarts, the Wooden Bridge. Orrrr an imitation of it or whatever this was. And it was warm! Where was the cold he loved so much, yo? O__O
But yesh, it did seem he was in the right place. Look! There was Quigley, Kace, Norah, Toby, Puck, Eden and Sophie. "Hiya, guys,'' he said to his friends. "Hello, Professor!'' Woah! That was quite a bit of apples he had there in that barrel! Quigley must be in Apple Heaven!
"I brought you an apple.'' Adi held out a usual yellow apple for Catman to take before moving off to stand next to Kace.

Apple in hand, Lux slowly made the trek down to the bridge. Fortunately she had made sure to wear layers before heading outside, because being in the colder weather wasn't exactly her idea of fun.
AAAAAH.
Professor Quigley must have placed a few charms over the area, because it was getting warmer and warmer. Wonderful! At least now she wouldn't freeze her butt off though she was still wondering why the lesson had to take place on a bridge. If heights were involved AGAIN, she was going to have a breakdown in class. Merlin help her.

Zhenya had seen on the Slytherin notice board that the Charms class was going to be held on the Wooden Bridge. She had shrugged at the time, glad to be doing an outdoors class, but this morning it was hard leaving bed, and then leaving the comforting Great Hall after breakfast. It was so cold! The first breeze of cold air woke her right up, and she quickened her walk to a run, approaching the wooden bridge quicker and quicker until...

There were two strikes on Professor Quigley’s record in Brooklyn’s eyes. First, making her have to wake up early, which wasn’t really a new idea anymore yet she still would rather not have to rush her breakfast, and second, making her trudge all the way outside to the bridge when they could have had the lesson inside. Where it wasn’t quite as cold. She wasn’t particularly bundled up however, as she made her way outside into the grounds and on the path toward the bridge. She didn’t do lots of layers. It only made her look bigger than she was, and she didn’t mind being tiny.
Except for when it proved dangerous, as the wind could have picked her up and flung her. Luckily, it wasn’t bad, and she hadn’t had reason to complain as she got closer to where the lesson was being held and felt the air get warmer. Maybe she didn’t have to be quite as disgruntled at the professor after all. “Good morning Professor Quigley,” she said softly, knowing he’d still hear her as she joined the group near the railing. She wasn’t half as curious as it looked like some people were about what might be below them. She’d acknowledged Lux Sansa anyhow, although she didn’t say anything to the older girl. Adi only got a brief look, before she decided to stand near the lone Slytherin who had arrived before her. House loyalty.

It was way too early to be up. Despite having a cup of coffee and eating breakfast, the boy was still a little bit groggy. As soon as he was outside, he woke up. It was a crisp and chilly November morning. Ooh, it was definitely nippy out here. Wrapping his coat around himself more, he continued walking to the Wooden bridge where there lesson would take place.
He got there rather quickly, greeted Professor Quigley with a small smile. "Morning Professor Quigley. How are you?" he asked politely. Then he noticed the Professor was staring at something. Simon squinted his eyes, trying to figure out what thing was so captivating. Pursing his lips for a moment, he decided to find a place near Kace instead of asking. The Professor was surely bound to tell them eventually what he was staring at... Right? So giving a quick smile to Kace, he walked over to him. "Hey Kace! How's it going, mate?"

It was a fantastic morning for some charms, was it not?
Zeke was thrilled, spring in his step and all. With one hand holding his bag strap securely on his shoulder, and the other raising an apple to his lips at intervals, Zeke munched on an apple as he made his way to where class would be assembling for today, the wooden bridge.
"Morning Professor Quigley," he greeted, throwing the core of his own demolished apple over the edge of the bridge. Whoops? Was that allowed? "It's biodegradable," he said in his defence before pulling out a crisp green apple from his bag and offering it to the man of the hour. "They're really good, I tested a batch of them for you."
Taking a small step to the side, Zeke waited for the lesson to get underway, but seeing Brooklyn close by he sent her a small smile. Hey Transfig Teammate.

A Charms lesson at the Wooden Bridge! How cool was that. Two of Hady's favorite things in one go. So far this day was going well for her and she was excited.
Whether it be good or bad that the small girl wasn't entirely dressed for the coldness outside didn't matter as she reached the bridge. It was unusually warmer here today and she was glad she hadn't wore the hat and gloves and junk others around her were sporting.
Fixing her bag on her shoulder she removed a bright green apple which she knew to be of the Professor's liking. "Morning Professor," she greeted happily extending her hand out with the apple to him.
That aside Hady moved out of the way to stand near some of her year mates until the lesson began. | |

Morning were not her thing. Add a class to the mix and you had a zombie form of AJ. Not to mention that she wasn't able to get herself out of bed this morning early enough to eat breakfast. Yeah, this was going to be a SUPER day. Hopefully the long walk to the bridge would wake her up some, and walking was sort of exercise and didn't exercise make you happy? Either way she didn't have a choice.
As she made her way to where the class was being held, she felt something hard in her bag. Reaching her hand it, she made contact with an apple. SCORE. The brunette picked it up and nomed it during her little trek.
Taking her last bite as joined the others, her eyes lingered on the professor. Oh crap. The apple was for him. It was all coming back to her now. She had yet to bring the man an apple, and she ate it during her sleepwalk down here. Whoops. She shoved the core in her bag. Nothing to see here. "Morning professor," she said in attempt to sound completely normal.
Lots of people were there and AJ didn't have the energy to actually do much more speaking. Instead she walked over and stood by the boyfriend. He got a shoulder nudge as a way of saying hello.

Zander was still pretty bitter about how early classes started. Wasn't Professor Q a big fan of sleep too? Why would he even want this? SIGH.
But he couldn't exactly skip because apparently Professor Quigley expected something of this Gryffindor. So here he was. AND let it be known that Zander even woke up early to grab a single green apple for his Professor today. Star student he was. Zander Adair was making improvements. Pretty darn great of him, huh? Heh. He was awfully proud of remembering this morning, but only because it was very difficult to get out of bed. See, Zander made sacrifices. Wasn't that enough to warrant an O?
Making his way towards the crowd, he bobbed his head at Professor Q. "Goodmorning, sir." Holding out one green apple. SEE, Zander deserved a pat on the back. He was trying, sir! O____O Sweet merlin. Was that an entire barrel of apples? First of all WHO and second of all WHY? Man. Way to make him look bad. The Gryffindor quickly turned away in SHAME and WAS THAT SIMON HOLDEN???
Yes. Going to stand by him.

Nine am was early, but it wasn't the earliest classes they had. No...those were reserved for Bellaire and Botros. But still, an early morning jaunt out on the grounds during the beginning of December was rough. Benny was bundled up against the chill as he made his way towards the wooden bridge as directed. A apple secured away in his pocket from his quick breakfast. Curious location for the class, or at least to meet up, but he wasn't going to complain. Especially as it got warmer as he got closer to the area.
Head charms for the win.
"Good morning, Professor," he greeted as he spotted the man looking over the bridge, approaching and leaving the apple on the ledge beside him. Benny then moved towards the spot Adi and AJ had claimed. "Hey," he greeted simply as they awaited the start of the lesson.

Henric stopped short in his steps.Uh what happened...where was he..why was he...what..who..? This was the right classroom right...he squinted his eye sto try and spot the professor...ohh there he was,staring down below seems like.Henric yawned and headed to where the rest of the group was. He slept late again last night trying to catch up with homework and stuff. Urgh...the life of a student was so hard sometimes.
He approched the professor and greeted him with a sleepy smile,"Morning Professor...brilliant scenery,are we spotting dragons today."He had no idea why he was saying that...yup he hadn't woken up fully,alright.He yawned again before leaning back on one of the wooden pillars.

Ugh. Nine in the morning was too early for class. Why didn't the professor's understand this? One would think they'd get tired of nothing but sleepy faces staring back at them. Then maybe they did it to torture them. Either way, Heather was not fully awake when she plopped down to the ground with the rest of the class.

It was time for Charms and Janelle was excited about the prospect of an outdoor class setting. She headed toward the wooden bridge or rather she skipped toward the bridge. When she realized what she was doing, she stopped and began to walk. Just because she was a second year, didn't mean that she had to act like a second year.
As she reached the bridge, Janelle saw the Professor looking intently at something......what she did not know. "Good Morning Professor", she said cheerfully. Then she found a spot to stand and wait for class to begin.

Clara loved Charms, don't get her wrong, it was her favourite subject, but, today? 9am and outside? Where the classroom should be, well, wasn't the classroom. It was the wooden bridge. It was bad enough her having to deal with the moodiness and sadness that came with waking up and going to early classes, but now she had to do it outside? Granted, it wasn't too cold, actually, she suspected a charm was in place to trick them into thinking that being outside wasn't all that bad.
The redhead trailed after Eden, groggier than usual, but forced a smile when they reached Professor Quigley. He appeared to be looking at something, so he probably didn't care if she was smiling or not, but it was the thought that counted.
Oh, and a miniature apple for him.
There you go, she thought, holding it out to him.
"Good morning."

Angel was totally looking forwards to this lesson... seriously what were they going to do, they weren't in the classroom, so was this sort of a field trip but instead of going anywhere they were staying at Hogwarts. "Morning sir." Angel smiled as she put the apple she had brought for him with the rest before she went and stood with her boyfriend, she really wanted to know what the Professor was looking at but decided against asking.

9am was too freaking early to start a lesson.
Yours sincerely, so freaking tired, man.
Grumbling about the time and with a piece of toast in his hand, Grayson made his way outside. Merlin knew why they were out here instead of in the classroom but he wasn't gonna question it. Four years at Hogwarts had taught him that much. So, he was just gonna munch on his slice of toast, mkay? The slice of toast that he hadn't gotten the chance to finish in the Great Hall unless he wanted to be late.
Cue more grumbling from the seventh year.
The bright side? His sleepiness seemed to be fading away. Maybe it was because of the air or because he had food in his hands. Eh. He wasn't gonna complain anytime soon. Just munch away as he made his way towards the bridge, where Quigley and the rest of the class were stood.
And Quigley? Seemed to be a little too interested in the ditch below. At least, according to Grayson, who immediately started coming up with his own theories. Either the dude was gonna use the ditch for their lesson or he was planning on chucking the lot in there. There was no in between.
Stuffing the rest of his toast in his mouth, Grayson munched as quickly as possible, swallowed, and said, "Heeeeeey, Professor." 'Sup nods for you.
