Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. If you can tear your gaze away from the intricately designed windows and high ceilings could, you can see to the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.

Oh, Cutty was good. Jasmine was not surprised by that, but she was almost caught off guard by his choice of spells. Almost. She only had a split second to react and react she did.

It was beautiful. The dust from the recently exploded dummy went up and scattered into miniscule fragments before raining down on Cutty in his admiration. One could easily call it a flaw - a guaranteed distraction of sorts for the young lad. Sure as he was Alexa Cambridge's student. His face slowly returned to facing his opponent but not in time to stop a full frontal hit of the second spell Jasmine flung at him.
Cutty knew what would happen if he opening his mouth. It didn't seem to stop him. Nor did it make him feel any sort of personal revenge toward the Ravenclaw prefect for besting him twice now in the duel. In fact it had the opposite effect and he seemed more admiring of her skill level. First he'd write her name then carve a plus... "If you want us, to sing a chorus, Guidry need only ask, but for now Furnunculus." Damn. All that money daddy invested in singing lessons made this not a caterwaul, precisely. His voice was changing, though.

She had time for a small smile and that was it because Cutty came back at her with.......oh no he didn't........ another spell and it was not a good one. A hit! He'd gotten a hit in and it had been his first as the duel with Fern had never really come to fruition. Cutty didn't routinely duel in the dueling arena or even outside of it. Though, he'd been well taught over the summer by an International Task Force agent in defense and secrecy as part of a summer youth program.
The roll, though. He was so stealing that roll to your feet from Guidry.
"Protego!" He said finally using the shield charm to guard against Guidry's immobilizing spell. It deflected this time, but sent the spell into a candle stopping it's dripping wax from obeying the laws of gravity any further. Cutty's gaze looked up at the wax quite glad that the spell hadn't hit him.
"Ventus Tria!" Cutty casted the spell for a large spiraling gust of wind like a vertical tornado. Not a good thing for hair and neatly pressed appearances.

Why did the whole dying young thing sound familiar? Did people really have that little faith in him? Huuuuuhhhhh? Did they not know he was going to be the greatest Dark Lord that EVER lived one day? Ahem, or just LORDLY in general. Still, it was a good tip, that bit right there. He could see how it might one day be handy. "I will," remember that, that is. "Cause... between you and me," he mused, peering round the room to make sure it was only Lex listening, "I'm going to rule the world one day." So like, don't go telling everybody. It would be a SURPRISE.
But he'd gotten it!!! And this was definitely one of the more cooler places he'd seen of the castle so far. In fact, he might just visit here more often, an fight/duel when he was well and ready. Bombarda was a good spell to have in his pocket.
"Kitchens?" ... KITCHENS. That sounded about as amazing as dueling, equal footing right there. Head Girl Lex sure had some mighty fine ideas of what constituted exciting places in Hogwarts. "Recon they'll have cake?" Cake was always a winner. But in other words, yes he was done and ready to FEAST. Growing boys had appetites you know.

Jasmine never knew what to expect fom Cutty. He had quite an extensive bag of tricks for someone his age. When he fired his next spell, she was definitely caught off guard. As the twister headed her way, Jasmine reflexively raised her wand and shouted, "Protego Duo". Just in the nick of time, her shield went up. Fortunately the shield held and deflected the wind away from Jasmine.
Jasmine had bought herself a second to think and she quickly came up with a plan. She would have to move fast for her idea to work because who knew what Cutty would be throwing at her next. Jasmine said "Finite", dropping her shield. No sooner than the word left her lips, she followed up immediately with, "Ebublio". A purple light shot out of her wand. If Jasmine was lucky, Cutty would be encased in a giant bubble.......if she was lucky.

You know that moment when you heard something and it was just about the funniest thing you'd heard all morning but you didn't wanna hurt a Firstie's feelings so you kept the most solemn face ever? That was happening right now and Lex was actually proud of herself for not laughing. Kudos to her, yeah? "Your secret's safe with me and even safer from this one girl named Maddie. Heard she wants to rule the world too. You might want to check her on that, get rid of the competition early on while she can't skin you alive with a flick of her wand."
Of course she didn't expect him to outright say it to her, she trusted Zeke had more tact than that. "And of course they have cake." She confirmed with a grin before heading for the exit. "They have everything down there. It's a Gryffindor's paradise."
As she left she was reminded of the days the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team would huddle up in the kitchens. Those were good days. Yup.

And a monkey-like frown made itself known upon his countenance to mark the occasion. Sad little Capuchin. Aww, what happened, boy? What happened?
The next thing he knew was a flash of purple and an encasement inside of a clear sphere. Jasmine cheated!! He wasn't supposed to be inside of any bubble. Confusion and excitement hit his tiny little monkey's heart and quickly overwhelmed it, then subsided as opportunity was realized. "Guidry, Goooodry. I'll give yew a point five-oh discount on all chocolate purchases if yer show me how you casted that." He was literally trying to sweet talk her.

It was a simple question and his expression shifted to accommodate that. "Yes I am, Guidry." His voice came a bit echoey from inside the bubble as he confessed without shame his plan to bribe her in order to learn a new spell early.
Shortly, there after he fell onto his little snake behind, the spell having been finished. He righted himself quickly. "Really? Free?" But he did seem ENTIRELY confused as he brushed the dirt from his robes with his hands.
"Is it joost a bubble charm, but amplified?" He brushed away his curiousity, now enthused and eager for Jasmine's knowledge.

Finally the besties had some time to get to that duel they had planned earlier that term. They had been busy before. Well, that had been mostly on Adi's part because of the Event planning and all but here he was now.
In his last duel, the Badger had beaten AJ and he wondered if he would be winning this duel too. Not that he mind loosing to his best friend.

He was better prepared this time when the second spell went out. "Protego!" he cast again, this time the shield forming for sure and catching the spell before it it. No big teeth for him. Adi might be getting something though. "Tarantallegra!" Maybe he should dance if he wanted him to sing.

Adi was enjoying Benny's bit of singing. He had even taken it further in his head imagining that scene from that awesome classic The Sound of Music where Julie Andrews aka Maria was teaching the seven Von Trapp kids the seven musical notes. Obviously he had replaced Maria with himself and the kids with Benny. Hehe.
Maybe his wand could be the baton thingy that a conductor uses while he conducted a choir only this time Adi would be conducting Benny.
Anyway...drat it! Benny had blocked his spell...and one was coming right back at him. The next thing Adi knew was that his feet started jerking uncontrollably on their own. Ahhhh! Singing was better than dancing! Singing, singing, singing! It's what he would prefer to do!
Uh oh. He was going to loose his balance. His flailing hands were of no help right now. Well, Adi wasn't going down without a fight. "Colloshoo!'' Hopefully he had aimed well enough to get the Lion.

Benny was glad when he cast again and noticed he had lost his singing voice. It wouldn't hamper his spell casting after all which was certainly a good thing. And the spell hit the Hufflepuff which was good news number two. However the exact results weren't quite what he expected.
He couldn't help it. The sight of his best friend dancing uncontrollably was amusing and he laughed at the sight. But it was to his own detriment in the long run. For he missed the chance to make sure his shield remained despite his destracted attention. So Adi's spell in turn hit him as well. Benny didn't have to lift his foot from the floor of the dueling area to know that his shoes were stuck to the floor as a result.
So no moving for him...for now.
"Nice shot..." he mused taking a breather and trying to think of what his next move, without bodily moving that is, was best for him.

"Finite! Finite!'' Adi was finding it difficult to aim properly so hopefully this spell would ware off soon. His attention now shifted to Benny, his eyebrows slightly raised. Since when did he start...you know...laughing out that much? It had all started back at the Astronomy field trip where Benny had actually made a joke directed at Adi.
The Hufflepuff shook it off. "Yeah, I guess it was.'' Considering that had been moving that much and shakily as well. And he still was. But the Duel was still on!

The Gryffindor knew would be sunk if his wand went flying away from him while he was stuck in place unable to retrieve it. It wasn't like he could summon stuff wandlessly in his current skill level. It worked for him it seemed since the red fizzled against his shield and he could relax.

Maybe that was a bit too much water. Benny surely didn't want to drown his best friend, he would be so distraught without his other half in his life. "Finite..." he cast once he could focus, stopping the fresh water that flowed from the tip of his wand in a jet towards the Hufflepuff. As it was once the water was no longer there, the Gryffindor could finally see straight in front of him , only to see the spell he couldn't quite escape or protect against in time.
So he wobbled.
And he wiggled.
And he tried to keep his feet as the spell worked on his legs and overall balance. It was a struggle and he couldn't even bring himself to manage to cancel the spell.

Wibble and wobble...wibble and wobble.
Benny was trying to stay upright, was struggling to stay up on his feet but it was far from easy. And he could hear Adi's reaction to it. The laughter in amongst the coughing that he had a vague thought that he might have been partly responsible for. Okay, so he probably looked funny, and he had laughed when his bestie had the similar dancing spell successfully cast on him earlier.
Focused on keeping himself from falling, the Gryffindor wasn't protecting himself. So when he eventually had his feet slip out from under him with his wobbly legs not far behind, he was open to the next spell aimed his way. And when his backside hit the floor of the dueling arena his head was a bit heavier. No longer occupied by his precarious stance, Ben swallowed and tentatively reached his hands up to confirm what the spell had done.
Yep...no longer a dragon...but a stag.
"Melofors," he cast in return with a point directly at Adi. Take that.
