The class hasn't changed this year too: the proper chairs with soft cushions are still there to sit and lean back on, and they are still charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated. The walls are still a soft, calming blue. There are still one big, grey rubbish bin by the door and a white, porcelain washbasin with a tap for those who wants to wash their hands before/after the class and who can't perform 'Aguamenti' charm (a short hose to direct the water to the cauldron is on the white, porcelain shelf hung on the wall, in case it doesn't fit the washbasin).
Professor Cosgrach is sitting at his desk, looking a little tired but well otherwise.
OOC: If you are going to RP your characer use the washbasin or the bin, you don't have to take Cosgrach's permission. Just assume he has granted it.
The class HAS begun, so please don't post yourself late but pretend as if you've been here all the time.

Add the jobberknoll feather without any water or fire
Lay half the unicorn hair onto the feather vertically.
Add a litre of water
Add the leech heads one by one
With a metal stick, stir it clockwise for ten times (Clean the metal stick before and after using)
Add half the ginger root
Wait for two minutes
Add ten cubes of ice all at once
Wait until they melt and grate five of the carrots in the meantime. Add the ungrated ones at once, and sprinkle the grated ones
Tie the wormwood around knotgrass and add them (If everything has been right, the steam will make you nauseous)
Stir eleven times clockwise with wooden stick. Do clean it before using.

Wait until the potion turns your favourite colour (takes about 3 days)
Colour: is the favourite colour of the person who's looking at it
Effect: It makes you hate the first person you see, sharpens your tongue: you are very ready to point out the faults of that person
The taste is bitter and will remain for a day
Duration: Depends on the drinker - if they are prone to hatred, it'll be longer (roungly 3-5 hours)
Effect on drinker: He/she will experience fatigue once the effect wears off

That seemed easy enough! He got his wooden stick and cleaned it with "Scourgify!" and then stirred 11 times clockwise. He counted one...two...three...four...five...six...seven...ei ght....nine...ten...eleven. Once he was done, he got his two crow feathers and added them in lightly and got his metal stick not wooden stick. He cleaned his metal stick and stirred once counterclockwise. He had 8 more crow feathers to go. So he added two more and stirred counterclockwise once with his metal stick. Now he had 6 more to go. He added two more and then he stirred clockwise. After adding all the feathers and he noticed he didn't need to stir after adding the last couple, so he waited for more directions.
Well his potion was making him nauseous for an entirely different reason. There was no steam on his so he knew it was completely wrong. But since Cosgrach Culloden was not up in his face. The hope was it was not dangerous to him or his classmates.
That meant he could have fun with it.
Do need to worry about cleaning since it was wrong already. Eleven Times clockwise, check. Dante added the crow feathers and then stirred again. He did not feel like repeating that. So he just dumped on the crow feathers in and stirred. Well it the potion looked black now and was bubbling.

Wait for two minutes...ok, that wasn't so hard. Caleb leaned back and started keeping time on the clock, being nosy and checking on the progress of everyone else around the room. Everyone seemed to be past this stage already...but meh, Caleb didn't care. He liked to go SLOW and make sure he finished the potion exactly as Culloden described, or else...well, it could be disastrous.
Alright, two minutes were UP!
Now he had to add all his ice cubes at once. Double counting them to make sure he had ten, he picked up the tray and dumped them all in his cauldron. Now he just had to wait for THOSE to melt...there was always so much WAITING in this class...
At least Culloden had given them something to do in the meantime. He took the carrots and started to grate them away, setting aside five of them for that exact purpose as he waited.

So THAT was why her stomach was feeling funny. Norah had thought maybe she'd eaten something funny for lunch. PHEW. She peered through the steam to find her quill to jot down the newest set of instructions. Good thing her potion seemed to be in the right place, 'cause she hadn't even learned how to vanish things yet.
Norah pulled the wooden stick out, pointed her wand at it, and muttered "Scourgify." Good, so that was clean. She placed the stick into the cauldron and began her clockwise stirring. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. Woooh, that was done. She picked up her wand again, cleaned the wooden stick, and then cast "scourgify" on the metal one. She had cleaned it earlier in the potion-making progress, but this potion was gonna be PERFECT so the nit-picky little thing got to be extra clean. She picked up two crow feathers in her gloved hands and dropped them in the cauldron, followed by a clockwise stir. Then another two feathers and another stir. She repeated this three more times, omitting the stir after the last feather addition. Sooo. Was that it? Bring on the next steps, professor, she was on a ROLLLL.

David felt that nauseous feeling before he really noticed the steam - but once Culloden mentioned it, he did pay attention to it and probably for the first time in his life he was glad to feel a little nauseous. It meant he was AWESOME and doing everything RIGHT. GO HIM.
He wrote down the instructions as they were given before attempting them himself.
He Scourgify'd his gloves again then picked up the wooden stick and Scourgify'd that too. Then he stuck it in his cauldron and stirred one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven times clockwise. He pulled it out and cleaned it again before moving on to the next step.
Gloves were cleaned again and then two of the crow feathers were dropped in. The metal stick was Scourgify'd too, and then he stirred the cauldron once clockwise. This process was repeated - adding two feathers and, keeping one hand on the metal stick to keep it in the cauldron, stirring once clockwise - until all ten feathers were in. The metal stick was pulled out after the final two feathers and then Scourgify'd.
Now to wait for more instructions.

16. Continue adding two feathers and stirring once after until all feathers are added. Do not stir after the last two feathers. (Note: The metal stick does not need to be cleaned every time. Just leave it in the cauldron until the last feather is added.)

WOW was Bay not paying attention, or did his mind just go blank… he seemed like he had missed so many things.. Rolling up his sleeves he got to work, okay so he had to lay the unicorn hair into his feather carefully and vertically over it. being slow and careful he did this task with ease. looking down at his notes he worked on the rest. he added a litre of water by carefully measuring it in a clean measure thingy, he forgot the name of it. then he picked up his first leech and added it, once it was in the cauldron he picked up leech number two and added that one as well, and then it was time for the final leech, now that they were added he looked around for his metal stick he cleaned it and then he placed it in the cauldron and stirred clockwise ten times. one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten okay it was finished stirring so he took out his stick and cleaned it again.
Oh wow yeah he did miss a lot, he added his ginger root and started to wait. He tapped his foot quietly on the floor to pass the two minutes of time..
now that the two minutes have passed Bay got up and got ten cubes of ice, he did as he was instructed and added them all at the same time and watched them melt while that was happening he looked around for his carrots, oh there they were. picking them up he quickly grabbed his grater and he grated his five carrots. then he added the rest of the ungrated carrots all at once and then he wait a minute did this say "sprinkle" he laughed as he "sprinkled" the shredded carrots over the whole ones. The ice was now completely melted as he then tied the wormwood around his knotgrass and added them to his cauldron.
Cleaning his wooden stick he put it in his cauldron and stirred eleven times clockwise. one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven he added his two crow feathers and he picked up his clean metal stick and stirred once clockwise. He then picked up two feathers and he then stirred clockwise with the metal stick again. he continued these steps until all the feathers were added. as soon as they were all gone he made sure not to stir as per the instructions of the potion, he made sure that the metal stirrer was in the cauldron every time he stirred. now it seemed like he was all caught up so he took some deep breaths and prepared himself for anything else that was coming his way.

That....was a WHOLE lot of switching and stirring, good merlin. For a moment Lex just kinda...stared at the board. This was one of those times when she'd have to follow step by step, constantly looking back to the board just to make sure she wasn't messing something up because no, she didn't intend to start this all over again. It was a fairly long walk back to the Professor's desk in case no one else noticed.
True to the Professor's words the steam that rose DID make her feel a little off but that was easily taken care of by taking a step back. Nothing too serious and nothing to get dramatic about. At this distance she scourgiy-ed her wooden spoon then stirred her solution 11 times in a clockwise motion.
She reached next for the crows feathers, stepping only just a little closer to drop two of them in there. That's when she got back to the metal spoon she'd scourgify-ed after using earlier and stirred with it once in a clockwise motion. And another two then stir and another two then stir and so on and so on until she was out of feathers to add at which point she just let the spoon sit there.
Looking back, it might not have been all that complicated....

Eyyyes on you, Benny. Adi snorted in reply to singing being a distraction. As if humming wouldn't be. Ice cubes...nine...ten...ELEVEN?! "Dragon, you added eleven cubes of ice not ten.'' Did that mean something bad was going to happen o his friend's potion?
Cosgrach was speaking again so Adi directed his attention to the man. He shot another glance at Benny before moving to start these steps. And was that was why he was feeling weird? The steam from his potion was causing this? One good thing about that was that it meant his potion brewing was going well so far.
"Scourgify!'' Wooden stick in the clean, Adi began to stir, ignoring the little nauseousness he felt. There. Eleven clockwise stirs. He dropped two crow feathers in. One more clockwise stir with the magically cleaned metal stick. Another two crow feathers and another clockwise stir. Two more times those steps were repeated making it a total of eight crows feathers added. Then he added the last two in. No stirs this time, thought the metal stick remained in the cauldron while he did so.

Now, who was vanishing their potions?
She saw that look from the Potion man. He looked at her. Dot peered curiously into her cauldron before glancing up at him again. Okay, but wait.... she wiggled her fingers at the Potion man. "Is it okay if the grated carrots aren't all the same size? My fingers got tired."
She wasn't a house elf, y'know? How was she meant to be good at grating carrots at this point in her potioning career?
While she waited, Dot wiped off her gloves and fished out the wormwood and knotgrass from her potion supplies. What if there was a specific way to tie wormwood? In a bow, in a square knot, in a half hitch...? Did it matter? Dot gave a great sigh, half exasperation and half despair. Why was it all so vaaaaaague? Well, nevermind. She tied a simple knot in the wormwood after wrapping it around the knotgrass, and that too went into her cauldron.
There WAS steam, and Dot supposed it was making her nauseous. It made her vaguely uneasy, which was about the same for a 12-year-old with an iron stomach. Dot actually leaned in to breaaaaaaaaaaathe the steam, just to check. Yeah, totes nauseous. Where was her wooden stick, 'cause she was calling this good to go?
The wooden stick got cleaned with that handy new spell she knew, and Dot plunked it into her cauldron. Eleven times. Clockwise. And she didn't even have to hesitate before stirring this time. Look at this learning on her feet business... Dot was practically a master already. It was a shame the rest of her stirring was with the metal stick, since that meant she had to clean the wooden one now and get something else dirty. She was not a house elf.
At least she didn't have any trouble finding her crow feathers this time around. Crows were black. Easy. Dot pulled out a small pile of black feathers, sorting them into a line that marched across her desk two by two. The first two went into the cauldron, followed by the same old metal stick. Which she HAD cleaned, ok thanks. One stir.
Then two more feathers. One stir. Two more feathers. One stir. There was a nice evenness to the pattern, and Dot fell into stride up until the last two feathers, when she had to remember not to stir. The stick came out of the cauldron, and Dot cleaned it again with a Scourgify.

Mistakes?
Nope...no mistakes here.
His potion looked to be just as Professor Culloden said it should look and it wasn't angry like some of his work had been in other classes when something was wrong. "Did I?" Benny questioned his friend. "But nothing seems to be wrong." So maybe the hate potion was all happy at the moment with the extra ice cube. Cue chuckle from the fourth year. Maybe not so happy...the steam wasn't all to appealing but the professor had mentioned that was normal.
Best just to move on and let the potion be.
"Scourgify," he cast on the wooden stick this time, dipping it in the potion and beginning to stir the liquid the required eleven times clockwise. One...two....three...four...five...six...seven...e ight...nine...ten...eleven. See, eleven is a better number to work with anyway. Two crow feathers were added and then Ben took ahold of the metal rod resting against the other rim. One stir clockwise. Another two crow feathers and another clockwise stir with the metal rod.
Easy enough steps to complete and repeat and soon enough the Gryffindor had all the feathers in. And thankfully he caught himself from stirring after the last feathers were added. Now more time to relax for now, Benny mused to himself as he sat back with a smile.

Were they done yet? All the waiting was starting to bore Brooklyn, along with the people who wer doing weird things around her as if tempting Professor Culloden. She was still planning on making sure she didn’t do anything wrong, just to prove that she was better than everyone else. Except an explosion near her could ruin that, so she tried to inch away from the others who were working near her, until the professor had finished his rounds. Not yelling at anyone or hexing them, which was a little disappointing. As was the next set of instructions, only because she couldn’t see why they wanted to smell the steam. It was definitely there, rising from her cauldron, but she didn’t particularly want to see if its smell made her feel sick.
Except she was going to have to smell it, since she was supposed to go back to stirring. That meant standing up and close to the cauldron again, but she stalled as long as she could. She had to clean her wooden stick, anyway, and she was tempted to clean her metal one again while she was thinking about it. She held back, though, in case that would be the one thing that made the professor get angry at her. She made sure to add the new steps to her notes, though. Either that or make him vanish her potion and start over, which she was not going to do. Once her wooden stick was clean, she stood up and stuck it into her potion, still trying to avoid smelling the steam. It was smelly, and that was all she needed to know. She had to focus on stirring anyway, so feeling icky wouldn’t work. Once she’d done eleven circles, she pulled the stick back out and cleaned it, followed by the metal stick which ended up back in the potion.
Now it was time for more feathers. At least there wasn’t any question of what crow feathers looked like. She found ten black feathers, and dropped two of them into the potion. Now another circle with the stick, followed by two more feathers and another stir. She decided she was glad there were only ten feathers. Having to keep repeating this would get awfully boring otherwise, and she was going to get tired of standing anyway.

12. Switch to using a clean metal stick, and add two crow feathers. Stir once clockwise. Repeat until all feathers are added, but don’t stir after the last two feathers.

Well, he could see the steam. He leaned in a bit. Yep, that was a bit nauseating. Dec stepped back again to breathe a bit of fresh air to clear the smell. So far, so good. The finish line was in sight.
It took him a bit to gather all the information on what to do on for the given steps. There, all registered in his Hufflepuff head now. He cracked his knuckles and then set off to clean his wooden spoon and stir the mixture clockwise eleven times. Now, he had to start plopping in the crow feathers two at a time, so he placed the ten of them in arms reach and started off with the first two. He stirred it once with the freshly re-cleaned metal stick and then added two more. Stir. Add. Stir. Add. Stir. Add. Annnnnnd don't stir. There we go.

His Toby left. But it was okay because he came back again jet like he said he would. And when he DID Kyroh's eyes grew. "D'you think I could be one?" He LIKED potions it was FUN. His stomach started to turn slightly and almost instantly Kyroh didn't feel too good. Was it the carrots that he had eaten or-Oh yeah! His potion. Noticing the steam that came up he figured the bubbling feeling in his stomach was a good thing but....no. He didn't like it at all. Clutching his stomach with his right hand he took out his wand. "Scourgify!" The brown haired boy said clearly, cleaning his wooden stick. With his free left hand he began to stir CLOCKWISE. One. Two. Three. Eventually eleven came and he let go of his stomach to grab two crow feathers. Dropping them into his potion Kyroh lifted the metal stick and picked up the metal one, cleaning it before placing it in.
One stir CLOCKWISE.
Two more feathers.
One more stir CLOCKWISE.
Two more. Clockwise stir. And again. And again, except THIS time he didn't stir. He simply plopped the last two feathers in and left the stick.
Potions was easy peasy, right Toby??? They were master potioneers! He leaned over to look at Dot and beamed.

Kyroh Scabior's Notes Second Year Potion: Hate Potion
Ingredients:

Caleb had finished grating the five carrots just as the ice cubes finished melting. Perfect timing! He took the other carrots and dropped them in, then took his grated carrots and sprinkled them in as instructed. It was starting to look like some sort of weird carrot soup in his cauldron. He then took the knotgrass bunch in his hand and tied the wormwood around it and added it to his cauldron. He waited, and a whiff of steam came out of the top of the cauldron right into his face.
Caleb blinked and coughed. Sure enough, that steam had made his very nauseous...he thought he was going to pass out, but gripped the edge of his desk for a few moments, taking deep breaths until the nausea passed. It didn't COMPLETELY pass, but he could at least move on with the brewing process.

"Sure you can," the Hufflepuff nodded. "Look at you, powering through this potion, making it look like the easiest thing in the world." Big big friendly grinning at you, little buddy. "If you wanted to be a potioneer, I bet nothing would stop you at all." Yep. It was actually still a possibility for Toby himself, if for some reason Quidditch worked out, but... all the dead animal parts. Not really for him. Though he didn't say that out loud, nope.
Tobias reached for another carrot to start grating but abruptly stopped himself. He'd already grated five, and so didn't need to grate anymore. He checked his cauldron to see if the ice had melted, and was happy to find that, yep, five minutes had been enough.
After quickly casting a cleaning charm on the grater out of pure habit, Toby, still wearing his gloves, placed the five ungrated carrots into his potion before sprinkling the rest over the top. Simple enough............ and a lot of carrot. Were carrots particularly hateful vegetables?
The next part was a little fiddly with the gloves on, and Toby spent a good couple of minutes attempting to wind the knotgrass around the wormwood and getting it to stay tied. A lot of holding it up to his face and frowning in concentration happened, but hE DID IT. Cool. Proud of himself, Toby added those too.
And next............................. the nausea. Toby had been wondering about this step. It made a lot of sense to him; whenever he felt any sort of negative emotion, he felt kinda sick. Even the idea of 'hate' turned his stomach, the fact that the steam from the potion might do the same made a lot of sense.
Aaaaaaaaand there it was. Nausea. Toby had to pause in the action of writing his notes so he could close his eyes and take a few steadying breaths. Except closing his eyes made it worse, and so he opened them right back up again. Man. Potions. Crazy.
Squinting through the steam of his potion, Toby rooted around his potions kit for the wooden stirrer. Once found, he cleaned it with magic and carried on with the next steps.
One... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... ten... eleven clockwise stirs, and Toby removed the wooden stirrer from the potion. His metal stirrer had already been cleaned, so he held it ready and added two crow feathers, and then stirred once clockwise with the metal stick, then two more feathers, and another stir. Just like Culloden had said, Toby went on with this routine until he found himself dropping the last two into the potion. Once again, he had to stop himself from going for the stirrer (because he'd gotten into the swing of it), but was quick to do so, and left the potion unstirred after those last two feathers.
Man. This was an intriguing potion. Toby had almost forgotten what the potion did, and the probability of testing it.

Steam, check. Feeling nauseous, check. So that meant that AJ was right on track. The nauseating feeling wasn't all that great, but it was tolerable so the lion continued to push through. They were in the home stretch now.
There were a ton more steps on the board now, and AJ tried had to look several times to make sure because it felt like as soon as she looked away her memory erased. Plus, she kept looking over at Benny and Adi every once in awhile. Benny was happy, and that was a good thing, but Adi apparently wasn't okay with that.
She had to focus. Picking up her wooden stick she gave it a good cleaning before stirring the eleven times needed clockwise. Two crow feathers were added. Metal stick time. AJ cleaned that up nice before stirring once clockwise. Two more feathers were added and the stirred once more with her metal stick in a clockwise motion.
AJ continued on until all of the feathers were added. Her potion was looking good. This was one class that as a rule she didn't struggle in. The lion didn't understand how you could struggle in potions. It was just following directions. Piece of cake.

Zeke blinked a few times, then leaned forward and sniffed his cauldrons contents. Ugh... ughh.... UUHHHHH.... no, no, STOP SNIFFING. Feeling a little faint and a bit constricted around the neck, Zeke took a step back to steady himself and pulled at the front of his shirt, loosening his tie. Not good. Not good. BREATHE!!!!!
He took a couple of measured paces back, then breathed deeply until his insides were settled and he didn't feel like his world was crumbling anymore. Phew.
The following instructions were super complicated. Not because they were particularly HARD tasks, but because there was a lot of repetition and a LOT of stirring and lots of numbers to go with it. Merlin. If it wasn't written down for him, he'd definitely get it wrong.
Zeke started by cleaning his wooden stirring implement and then carefully stirred his potion eleven times clockwise. To be sure he got it right, he counted it out... "one... two... three... four... five... six... seven... eight... nine... ten... eleven." Done.
Counting out his crow feathers to make sure he didn't accidentally put in extra, and cleaning off his metal stirrer again, Zeke then followed the next instruction.
Two crow feathers in. One clockwise stir. Two crow feather. One clockwise stir. Two crow feathers in. One clockwise stir. Two crow feather. One clockwise stir. Two crow feathers. NO stir. HAHA!... it was almost as if the instructions and repetition were trying to trick people! But he didn't fall for it.
Zeke cleaned all his utensils again while he waited for the next instructions, only this time he figured he'd practice the spell properly so he didn't have to keep doing it by hand.
"Scourgify..." nope... "scourgify!".... nope... "scourgify!" he tried again, and this time, SUCCEEDED! He was learning to clean like a wizard!
Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Samantha saw the steam emitting from her potion. She caught a whiff of it and had to turn her face away for a moment as the scent made her feel slightly nauseous. When she had refocused, Sam was ready to continue.
She grabbed her wooden stick and cleaned it by pointing her wand at it and saying, "Scourgify!" She then stirred her potion clockwise eleven times, carefully counting each time she stirred so that she had done it the correct amount of times. She cleaned her wooden stick and placed it on her desk.
She then cleaned her metal stick using her wand and the cleaning spell. She added two crow feathers and then stirred the potion once clockwise with the metal stick. She decided to leave the metal stick in her cauldron. Sam added two more feathers and stirred once clockwise again. She repeated the process until the all the feathers were added. However, when it came to the last two feathers, Sam did not stir the potion. Sam removed the metal stick from the cauldron, cleaned it and placed it on her desk.

So. This girl was extreme-leeeeey helpful. Dot got all up close and personal as she demonstrated how to decapitate leeches, even poking out a finger to feel where the head and heart were. They were only about a finger-width apart, so if she pressed her finger down just so and then cut where she was pushing... she'd have cut off only the leech head.
It wasn't very precise, though, and Dot wondered if she could maybe take a leech to dissect to figure out their insides a little bit better. Later, not now. Dot laid her three leeches in a line and, after cleaning her knife, she cut through all three of them at once. Now that she'd figured out the head thing. Master Decapitator.
And into the cauldron they went. Drop. Drop. Drop. Now for stirring. Did she even have a metal stick? Dot poked through her belongings and extracted the stick thing. Why not use a spoon, huh? Or one of those dowel rod things? Dot Scourgified the stick and then plopped it into the cauldron and sloshed her potion juuuust a bit counterclockwise before catching herself. CLOCKWISE. Ten times.
The stick dripped everywhere as she tugged it out of the potion. Ick. Leech juice. Dot poked her wand at the drip and tried out her new spell yet again. "Scourgify." Oh, and her stick-thing too. "Lookit," Dot held up her clean stick for Older Girl. "I did it again. What's your name?"
She waved her ginger root at the girl too. See this very clean knife? Dot was using it to cut her ginger. See, Girl Person? See? Dot was going to be the professor's favorite someday too. "Dima is my best friend since forever. Kyroh is my new freckle friend. My Oggie says I have to be friends with girls, though." And plunk into the potion went the ginger root.
Soph watched closely as Dot went about her business and, to be honest, she was pretty impressed with how fearlessly the girl cut through all three leeches at once. Like a pro. "Y'sure y'haven't done this before? Y'seem like a professional to me." She was even scourgifying everything just fine, and the Ravenclaw couldn't help but smile. But... hadn't she already told the girl her name? She was certain she had. Not a good listener, was she? "Sophie," she offered once more, "and you're a good friend-picker. What's an Oggie?"

She was brought back to the task at hand by Tobes delivering a beaker of ice cubes to her, and Sophie beamed at him gratefully. "Thanks," she saluted him in jest, glancing at her watch and... A FEW SECONDS LEFT TILL THE TWO MINUTES WERE UP. Soph got her cubes ready, peeking at the time, and just when time was up, she poured the ice cubes into her cauldron. SAVED BY THE TOBES.
Even though she had some time till the ice cubes would melt, Sophie wasted no time to start grating up five of the ten carrots - she scourgified everything she needed for this part before slipping her clean gloves onto her hands and using her grater to grate the five carrots into a small container. She kept an eye on the contents of her cauldron, noting how the cubes had begun to dissipate, and made quick work of grating the carrots as necessary until there was a nice compilation of carrot shavings in her container. It wasn't too long until the ice was completely melted, then Sophie dropped the five normal carrots into the cauldron with her gloves on, then sprinkled the shavings atop the concoction. Bleep blop bloop, easy peasy, she and Culloden had brewed a much more complex potion together last term. If she could successfully brew Felix Felicis, she could definitely do a potion like this, right?
...What was that she heard? Jasmine? Made a MISTAKE? Ha! Both eyebrows shot up expectantly at Culloden, even though he wasn't looking at her, and she wanted to cackle to herself. But she resisted. That wouldn't stop her from nudging him about it after class, though, and asking him if he wanted to fully retract a certain statement he had made to her on the first night back at Hogwarts.
Smug as could be, Soph turned back to her potion and peered up at the board to get back on track - ah. Right. The fourth year took a moment to reclean her gloves, just for safety, then plucked the knotgrass and wormwood from her potions kit. Squinting a little at the bunch of knotgrass, it took her a moment to successfully tie the wormwood around the knotgrass - it was more difficult than she'd anticipated to work at it with the dragon-hide gloves on - but soon enough she had what seemed to be a suitably finished product, so she added that to her cauldron, the steam that rose from it immediately making her stomach churn.
Yeah. She seemed to be on the right track so far.
Leaning against the backrest of her chair to evade the fumes, Sophie removed the gloves to cast, "Scourgify," on both her stirring sticks AND her gloves before putting them back on and lowering the wooden stick down into her cauldron. She kept her non-wand hand that was gloved away from touching anything else to prevent germs as she stirred the potion clockwise once, twice, thrice... until she reached eleven times. Prepared for the last stir, Soph had multi-tasked well and had the two crow feathers all ready in her other gloved hand, and after that eleventh stir, she dropped the two feathers into the cauldron after removing the stick. Immediately switching to the cleaned metal one and stirring the one time clockwise, Soph had the next two feathers ready to add and tossed them in, making it four feathers in her cauldron, and she repeated the one stir clockwise, then adding two more feathers until all ten were added, making sure she plucked the stirring stick from her cauldron after the tenth feather was added. She wasn't going to stir again after that addition, nope. All set. So she cleaned the stick and set it aside.
And if there were still putrid fumes being emitted from her cauldron, she didn't even notice anymore.

Angel looked at the Ben as he was adding the ice-cube... one...two ...... ten." Angel smiled. "G.....eleven." Angel just stared at him seriously that was strange why was he adding one for luck... she wished she had now but anyway she looked at him and gave a small sigh. "Eh.. Ben. I think you was only supposed to add ten ice-cubes not eleven." Angel wondered what would happen now.
Angel then got back on with her work.
Steam check... slight nauseous check... that must mean she was doing everything right which was a first for her and potions. She wanted this potion to be amazing.
Angel then cleaned her wooden stick and stirred the potions eleven times clockwise. Angel then got hold of two crow feathers and put them in the potion. she cleaned her metal stick and then stirred once clockwise... Another two crow feathers added and another clockwise stir with the metal stick.
Angel then repeated the step until all the crow feathers were added. but when she added the last two feathers she didn't stir it because the Professor told her not too. This potion had a lot of steps couldn't they brew an easier one next time like where you just bung the ingredient in and see what it makes?

Still upset the Gryffindor hardly payed any attention to the next set of instructions. He did, however, stare deeply into his cauldron and.... Why was it getting so steamy in here? And then before he knew it, uuuuuhhhhh HEADACHE! And dizzy? And uh... Maybe this is why they called it a hate potion. 'Cause he hated it already. Geeez. Could they tone it down a bit? And then not make him go to detention? Because that was still bothering him. A LOT. He would never live it down. His mum would be livid if she found out. Did they mail parents when stuff like this happened? Uh... Hopefully not.
Taking a few steps back and away from that awful thing, he turned to Kevin with a raised eyebrow. It was supposed to mean something like 'is this supposed to happen??' Except, he didn't want to speak out loud because he didn't need to risk a shaky voice or anything. Not in this mood. Then, whispering a quick, "Scourgify" he cleaned the wooden stick and then stirred eleven times. Ahem. Eleven times, clockwise. Soon after, he took the two crow feathers and dropped them in. Then picking up the metal spoon this time (which he had cleaned, don't worry didn't need ANOTHER detention), he stirred once. Then another two feathers... Thank merlin for the board. And then stirring again. Stirring up all his hopes and dreams that had melted into this cauldron as a result of a detention. Just stirring away his sadness and despair. Just stirring away all the tears that he wasn't going to cry. Stirring awayy-- Okay point made. He repeated this until all his feathers were added in and then TADA. Steps done.
Hate potion because he hated potions. And that was final. He also hated getting his first detention. A lot.

Looking into her cauldron, Lux was pleased to see the faint steam that the brewing potion was producing. The nauseated feeling wasn't nearly as nice but like Professror Culloden had said, it wasn't too bad.
Getting used to the feeling, she jotted down the next two steps before cleaning her wooden stick. Placing it in the cauldron, she stirred the potion 1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10...11 times in a clockwise direction. After removing the stick, she cleaned it once again. Now it was time for her to add the crow feathers. Two went into the cauldron before Lux stirred once clockwise with her clean metal stick. Repeating this process, soon all 10 feathers had been added with her making sure not to stir after the last two went in.

She could see steam... and it did smell kiiinda gross? But not overly gross. But Ruby put on a grossed out/nauseated face anyway. Obvy her potion was fine.

She cleaned off her wooden stirrer, kind of over all this excessive re-cleaning of stuff by now. Next time she'd get a house elf to pre-clean everything. Clockwise stirring... about eleven times, two crow feathers, a metal stirrrrr... ugh couldn't they just use the same one constantly? Like honestly.. two more feathers, stirring... feathers... until all the feathers were added. Following what he said and not what was written still, of course.
Ew.

Being one the small side for an eleven year old Hady saw the steam rising off her potion right away, a large puff of it hitting the girl in the face. With a small cough she took a step backwards and groaned quietly under her breath as her stomach began to hurt.
Oh no, she'd done something wrong hadn't she? Almost panicking she suddenly heard the Professor explain the next steps. So she was supposed to feel this way? Okay then. Taking a small breath of clean air she relaxed a moment and grabbed up her quill and parchment jotting down the next instructions.
Stir eleven times clockwise with a wooden stick. The was the next step. Pulling out her stick she spelled it clean as well as her gloves and set it into the potions. One..two..three..four..five..six..seven..eight..ni ne..ten..eleven times clockwise. Removing the wooden stick she cleaned it again and put it away.
Now she needed that metal stick from earlier and ten crow feathers. Separating the feathers into pairs of two she cleaned them all with a quiet. "Scorgify." As well as the metal stick and her gloves once more.
Hady dropped two crow feathers into the cauldron and stirred it once clockwise with the metal stick. Two more feathers in, stir. Repeat. Repeat. In goes the last two and out comes the metal stick. Casting a quick cleaning spell on the stick she returned it to her kit once more.
So far so good. Everything seemed to be working well expect she still felt quite a bit nauseous. Would that go away soon?

The alarm on his watch went off after the two minutes were up and the Gryffindor pressed the button to stop the noise. He looked at Zander for a second to see what his reaction to his previous words were and he then shrugged his shoulders. He was right, at least he had tried. See, he wasn't such a bad person like a LOT of people thought he was. He was just...manipulative ...sometimes. Anyways, Kevin stood up from his seat and walked to the front. He was not getting the ice cubes for his friend though.
Grabbing exactly 10 ice cubes from the bucket at the Professor's desk, Kevin went back and added them quickly in to the cauldrom before they melted. While he waited for the cubes to melt down , he grabbed the grate, cleaned it and grated the five carrots he needed for the next step.He looked up at the blackboard to see the instructions before looking back down to throw in the remaining carrots in his cauldron before sprinkling the grated carrots after.
What now? There were so many steps at the same time even Kevin who thought Potions was easy had a difficult time keeping up. But he managed it if he just kept his cool. So...how did one tie a wormwood around knotgrass? Just...like it says? The boy looked around for a moment, watching what the others did before grabbing a wormwood from the jar. He tied it around the grass which he thought was right and threw it in the cauldron.
He waited to see if something wrong happened but nothing did.

[/COLOR] OOC: Like Cosgrach has said, the nausea feeling isn't strong enough to make your character vomit. The steams only affect the brewer, so the wrong ones won't be affected by other vapours. Wrong potions do look as if they are all right, though (in case your characters want to fake it ).
This is a catch up point, as I'll post again probably more than 24 hours later.
Steam started to rise up from his cauldron quickly after the last step and the thirteen year old waved his hand to see. The mistake was breathing in through his nose though as his stomach turned slightly at the smell. He pinched his nose with his fingers and listened to the Professor. So the aweful smell was good? Then he didn't have to vanish his potion.
Cleaning the wooden stick, Kevin used it to stir the potion clockwise while counting to eleven in his head. Then he reached over the desk and grabbed two crow feathers from the box and added them in as well. Then he grabbed the wooden stick again, dipped it in the cauldron, stirred once.............
..........and froze.
His eyes widened as he realised what he had done. He had accidentally used the wooden stick instead of the metal one... Cursing under his breath, the Gryffindor looked around. No one had seen that? Did it really matter if a wooden stick was used instead of a metal one? Maybe he discovered something new and the potion became more powerful? WHAAAAAAAT?!
Ah screw it , he was NOT starting over. He added two more feathers before grabbing the metal stick now. Cleaned it and stirred again. He went on after all the feathers were added but making sure to not stir after the last two feathers and looked at his potion............
