The National Space Centre is one of the United Kingdom's leading visitor attractions that is devoted to space science and astronomy. It is located in the city of Leicester, England.
The group lands in the large parking lot just outside of The National Space Centre, hidden from all muggle gazes thanks to some large shrubbery. Hopefully no one has become too queasy from the trip, but if you have those bushes are right there to...you know...help you out. After handing the portkeys back to Professor Flamsteed, he instructs you to remove your entry ticket and to follow him. REMEMBER! Under NO circumstances are you to break the The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy. Approaching the ticket gate, the professor beams over his shoulder as he demonstrates the "proper way to hand over an entry ticket" by handing it to one of the muggle staff present - who gives you a perplexed look before uttering, "Welcome to The National Space Centre. Have a safe flight!"
Once inside, Professor Flamsteed instructs you to pull out your guide maps you picked up while still in the Astronomy classroom at Hogwarts so that he can go over the various activities he hopes you will be sure to take a look at before needing to catch the portkeys - now safely tucked away in his enchanted breast pocket - back at precisely 3:05 pm from the same location in the muggle parking lot.
ACTIVITIES OOC: you do NOT need to do every single one of these activities for full participation credit for this lesson. I would like you to pick AT LEAST 2, ideally 3, and RP accordingly. There is no real post minimum for each activity as long as the content is there. Just have fun with things and, remember, your character is in MUGGLEDOM.
Please also feel free to look at the official website for the National Space Centre and click through some of the other things the place has to offer. I am taking a few liberties with some already existing exhibits there (and making up some of my own) - just work with me that the same thing in 2014 is there at 2085
Also, since we are all RPing in the SAME thread, please please PLEASE title your post with the LOCATION & ACTIVITY with which your character is participating in so we can all keep track of where we all are and find others to play with PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
The Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium is the largest in the UK and was opened in 2012 by the astronomy hero Sir Patrick Moore to a packed house.
Each show combines the latest edge-blended video technologies, sound and computer animation to immerse you in a full 360º fulldome cinema experience for no additional charge!
The show currently playing on this day is one 2014, which was brought back by popular demand, titled We Are Aliens.
OOC: youtube has a TON of clips from this that you can take a look at. Here is a link to one of them and I am sure you can maneuver yourself to find the rest
And yeah...Rupert Grint *cues Twilight theme* I am not sure if we as a site have ever established whether the Harry Potter films we know and love exist in our SS canon as something that muggles will have seen *inserts all sorts of theories here* So, for now, let's assume they DO NOT. Rupert's face does not appear in the film as far as I know, so it is just his voice.
he iconic Rocket Tower at the National Space Centre is home to Blue Streak and Thor Able rockets, as well as the Gagarin Experience, Apollo Lunar Lander and real Moon Rock.
The semi-transparent tower, which is clad in high-tech ETFE “pillows”, was designed specially to house the Centre’s largest artefacts, including the Blue Streak and Thor Able Rockets.
here are two pieces of Moon rock on public display in the UK and you can see the larger of the two at the National Space Centre. There is less than 1,000kg of Moon rock on earth, which makes this small artefact one of the most precious items you will ever see.
This Lunar sample was collected by Apollo 17 Astronaut Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, from a large fractured boulder near the rim of Shorty Crater.
Tranquility Base: The Moon Walk
SPOILER!!: description
Create your own postcard of you jumping on the lunar surface to owl home!
The area is set up with staff around to assist you as you strap into the special "seat" that will help you feel as though you are jumping on the Moon. After jumping around for a bit, the photographer will take your picture and then, using the magic of muggle technology, make it look as though you really are jumping on the Moon!
You may elect to wear one of the provided astronaut costumes if you desire or take the picture as is.
OOC: if you want to manip or draw a picture for this you may do so for possible extra credit.
Tranquility Base: Astrobotic Mining
SPOILER!!: description
The ultimate lunar challenge to see how much moon rock you can load using the digger before their time runs out.
A large arena with glass walls that prevent any entry stands before you. Behind the glass is a replica of the look and feel of the Moon's surface with various funny looking robots placed about it. After speaking with one of the muggles manning the area, you are handed a remote control to one of these replica Astrobotic Moon Diggers that you can then maneuver around the area to dig and scoop up "moon rocks" that must then be brought back to the appropriate labeled space station (Player 1, Player 2, etc) all the way to the right of the arena. You have 5 minutes to try and collect as many moon rocks as possible. If you do a stellar job then maybe, just maybe, the one of the muggle staff will let you take home a moon rock.
which is not a REAL moon rock, but a fabricated one that is...er...almost as good as the original?
Not too into mining? You can also try your hand at using another remote control to land the Lunar Lander on the Moon!
Tranquility Base: Astronaut Training
SPOILER!!: description
Think you've got the stomach to be an astronaut?
Brought in special this year, the ATX (Astronaut Training Experience) is where you can put yourself to the test and see if you have the right stuff to become an astronaut. Immerse yourself in the exciting world of today’s astronauts with realistic astronaut training. You will hear first-hand from a veteran astronauts, experience a space shuttle mission simulation and perform hands-on space exploration activities.
The area is set up in a rather extravagant manner with two activities simulating a capsule out of control and experiencing weightlessness respectively.
Round off your visit with a meal under our amazing rockets in Boosters restaurant. Serving a selection of freshly made and locally sourced sandwiches and snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks and our chef makes fresh soup everyday.
And of course don't forget to check out the Cargo Bay shop which stocks a full range of fun and interactive space toys, books, games and telescopes!
Checking his sundial watch, the professor gleefully announces that everyone is free to go about as you please...KEEPING CERTAIN THINGS IN MIND! And mentions something about living long and prospering, but by then you are probably already off and running!
OOC: please make sure you have posted in this thread departing from the Astronomy classroom BEFORE posting in here. It doesn't matter if you are just joining us now. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come!
There will be a very short homework assignment following this lesson, but consider this (with the addition of homework) the same weight as a final.
I will leave this thread open for several days (at least until noon on November 4th GMT) NEW CLOSING TIME SET FOR: Friday, November 7th at 10 pm PST and, while I hope to be around to have Airey interact with you all...I may be a bit scarce as I am preparing for a flight to America on Wednesday. I will be around to answer any questions you may have, however, so please feel free to shoot me a VM or PM if something comes up!
NOW GO HAVE FUN BEING WIZARDING CHILDREN TAKING OVER A MUGGLE LOCATION AND SANCTUARY OF SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY!
Toby was watching the person already in the spinny thing go round and round and round, a look of intense interest on his face. It looked fast from HERE, so he could only imagine what it was like to be in there. One thing was for sure, Toby was DEFINITELY looking forward to this one, wasn't all that worried about motion sickness at all; he'd skipped breakfast today, in any case, so he'd be fine.
As the other person exited and the attendants beckoned the next person up, Toby heard Soph tell him to go first. He looked at her with a grin.
"Me? Throw up? Stomach of steel over here, Soph," he informed her, noting how she was moving out of line. Was she not gonna try it? Well, that was fine too. Maybe it wasn't for everyone's tastes.
Toby stepped on up and sat himself in the chair, looking up at Soph to smile at her as he got strapped into the strange apparatus.
And then it was starting, and he was moving, slowly at first, and steadily speeding up... faster and faster, spinning around and around and making everything around him look like one big ridiculous bluuuurrrrrr. And on and on it went, faster and faster. And it was crazy cool, but Toby couldn't help but feel slightly weirded out by the fact that the world was moving around him so fast and yet he was completely stationary. But he made of the most of it while he was up there, spinning around and around, super duper fast.
"Good luck to ya," Soph replied to Tobes' declaration, relieved that he DID think he had a stomach of steel - she didn't really want him to feel sick or disoriented for the remainder of their trip. As Tobes got buckled in, she peered at the pamphlet a bit closer to read some more about this contraption and what its purposes were in training people to be astronauts. What information she found made sense, really - it was a good indicator of who would be susceptible to space sickness and what sort of physiological effects the spinning had on a person, and in space astronauts would have to be able to focus on the task at hand if the capsule went spinning out of control. Any extreme nausea and dizziness caused by the spinning machine would inevitably mean that one would have the same kind of reaction in space, wouldn't it?
But... MOST people didn't seem too bothered by the contraption, did they? Maybe it was just a small fraction of people who couldn't withstand the spinning and forces acting upon their bodies.
Soph tore her gaze from the pamphlet as the device started spinning, though, and couldn't help but grin as she tried to focus on Toby's face the whole time, catching blurs of his face every now and then and giggling to herself. He looked like he was enjoying himself well enough, didn't he?
"Remember to breathe, Tobes," was her helpful advice, her tone light and friendly as the attendant counted down the time Tobes had left. He was going to come out of this looking all sorts of crazy, wasn't he? Hair every which way and possibly drool all over his face. Heheheheh.

She couldn't wait.
Yup. Fast. Very very very fast.
And spinny.
Gosh, this thing was just never-ending, wasn't it. Toby didn't feel ill, exactly, but he definitely had that weird flutter in his stomach from where his brain and body were getting all confused with the spinning. He knew better than to close his eyes, too; knowing that that would make him feel really quite unwell, because your head would get all confused by feeling movement and not seeing it.
It was timed perfectly though; the spinning started to slow just as Toby began to wonder when the time was up. He figured that any more spinning and that stomach of steel would be put to the test.
Eventually, the spinning slowed to a complete stop, and Toby blinked at his surrounds, because the room definitely still appeared to be moving. Still, nothing he couldn't handle, right? This Hufflepuff felt confident that he could walk away fine.
Once he was unbuckled, Toby sent a goofy grin at the attendants and said a quick "Thanks," before standing and stepping back to Soph.
... And staggering way off course. Oops. He grabbed the fence thing beside him to steady himself, waiting for the world to stop moving, before finally going back through the gate to meet Soph on the other side.
"That was... an experience," he informed her quite frankly, still keeping hold of the fence surrounding the spinny chair thingy. Merlin. Could everything stop moving now? At least he wasn't feeling unwell or whatever, though Toby knew he'd not be able to handle another go. "Should we, uh... move on, then?" Toby asked, glancing at Soph, unsure if she wanted a go on this thing before they switched activities.

Soph briefly glanced at the map while Tobes was still spinning, taking a peek at where their next possible destination was in relation to where they were currently, then pocketed the pamphlet in her bag just as the spinning was coming to an end. She smiled big, watching Toby's expression and eager for him to return over to her.
He seemed a bit dizzy, didn't he? But his color was relatively normal, she thought, and he didn't LOOK too much like he was going to toss his cookies, so... maybe he was really okay?
When he spoke up, Soph snorted, reaching to hold his hand and help steady him better. "You okay, Stomach of Steel? Y'seem to've passed. No dying or anything. Guess you're astronaut material." She smiled as she squeezed his hand encouragingly and, careful to gauge his movements and whether he was going to fall over on her or not, led him away from the spinning chair area to a spot out of the way of others.
"You up for the moon walk thing? Or... if y'wanna get your barrings, we could go see a show? I checked the schedule - one starts in eight minutes." It was up to him, really. Soph was perfectly content to just go with the flow.

Toby automatically gave Soph's hand a squeeze when she held onto his, and nodded his head.
"Yep. I'm fine. Piece of cake," he responded. He still held onto the fence thing with his free hand, though the world appeared to have stopped spinning around him again. He was ABOUT to let go when Soph started to lead him away anyway, and had to sort of really concentrate on where his feet were going at first. But then he was fine, the dizziness passing after only a little staggering around.
Next though, uhhh...
"A show sounds good, seeing as one's about to start." LEARNING. They could do some LEARNING. "Then we can go for a moonwalk or something."
... A sentence Toby had never expected to hear himself say out loud.
Ahem. Anyway. As he spoke, Toby looked around, spotted the signs to the planetarium, and started off in that direction.

Soph made sure to be keenly aware of Tobes' state, not wanting to pull him along too quickly if she at all thought he was having trouble, but when he seemed to be fine, Soph was happy to hug the Hufflepuff's arm as they walked in the direction of the planetarium.
"You're so brave, doing the spinning chair thing." She was intentionally and cheekily trying to build up his ego, could he tell? Hehe. "The show's about aliens. I'd love to be in on this show seated next to Flamsteed and ask him all his thoughts about everything - I've never heard him talk about aliens or anything of the sort, have you? Bet it'd be an interesting conversation to have with him." Did the man believe in aliens? She wasn't sure.
Her gaze was wandering as they walked, peeking at and into all the different exhibits and things they could see later on. Just the sight of the cafe down the way made her hungry, but then again, when wasn't Sophie Brown hungry?
As they approached the planetarium entrance, Soph was pleased that they were allowed to go right inside with no waiting. "Y'can pick where we sit," she offered him and STOPPED to stare at the huuuuge dome above them the moment they stepped inside.
"Whoa." This place was HUGE. "The WHOLE ceiling is going to be the MOVIE?" She TRIED to mostly keep her voice down, but MERLIN. Sometimes she forgot how impressive Muggle technology was, especially when she'd been secluded to the wizarding world for half a year. Big-eyed and marveling, Soph couldn't wipe the stupid grin off her face.

He had been completely engrossed in the cinema experience that he'd completely blocked out everything around him that was not space or an alien. But as the short film came to an end, Zeke found himself staring at a blank canvas and coming to his senses.
Right.
What else was there to do?!!?!?!
He still had the muggle money, and he was kinda hungry... but he sooooooo desperately wanted something from the gift shop. So... CHOICES.
Zeke contemplated this choice as he exited the Planetarium.

As the show began Hady sat back in her seat and watched it silently. All her attention was on the show from the very moment it began until it had ended. Watching a show that was up on a ceiling was seriously cool and there was nothing else like it...well maybe except for watching stars out in the night sky but yeah that was different.
As it came to an end she sat up in her chair lightly rubbing the back of her neck where it had become sore from how she had been sitting. Grabbing her bag she slung it over her shoulder and exited the Planetarium. Standing outside the doors and off to the side a little so she was out of the way of others she looked around to see what there was she could do next. So many choices!
That was when she spotted Zeke and decided to say hello. She hadn't even seen him inside the Planetarium. Walking up behind him she tapped his shoulder lightly. "Hey Zeke!" She chirped happily giving him a bright smile.

He'd stopped where he was, and was having a VERY difficult time deciding what to do. His stomach said one thing, his head and heart said another. So... that was two against one, right? Right? Gift shop won?
It was only as he felt a tapping on his shoulder that he remembered where he was - not that he'd forgotten - just that he had been lost in his thoughts again. Turning on his heel, Zeke beamed when he saw Hady. "Hady, hi," yes, HI. "What did you get up to?"

Unable to miss his beaming smile the small Slytherin grinned at her friend. "Heya! Well I headed over to the Cafe for a ginger ale first with Thornton...cause well honestly traveling like how we did kind of upset my stomach." Did Zeke know Thornton? If he didn't then she'd tell him whom he was if he did then there would be no explaining needed there. "Maddie showed but she'd gone 'silly' like the others have and ran off so Thornton chased after her and I went to the Planetarium." There long story short. "How about you?" Hady asked honestly interested to hear what he had to say.

Aaaaawww booo, she had an upset tummy? "I had that the first few times I traveled.... like that..." ahem, not using wizarding words in muggledom. Nope. "But you get used to it eventually." He hoped that helped, but it probably didn't. He was surprised and not surprised to hear Thornton's name mentioned. The Ravenclaw had gone from arch nemesis to.. well.. to an ally? Or maybe not quite an ally just yet, but there was potential. He didn't know Maddie from a bar of soap though. Like, he'd SEEEEN her around, but that was the extent of it. "Sounds like fun though, I guess. The show was good! I'm kinda thinking being an astronaut would be really cool, cause I did some of the training activities for it too." And what fun that was. He'd have recommended it, but perhaps not on an upset tummy.
"I did the super fast spinning around flying into space anti-gravity thing, and then I did the no-gravity climbing thing after that and....." and he was being super eloquent right about now. Whoops? Zeke shuffled his feet a little. "Did you want to check out the gift shop with me? I haven't spent my money yet." And that was an absolute MUST.

It was her turn, it was her turn, it was FINALLY her turn. everybody so far had some some really epic moves, but she was sure that she would be even better at it. Winning at life was just in AJ's blood.
She bounced up to the muggle men and waited for them to strap her into her harness looking thing. "I don't really need this, you know." Safety measures, they were for wimps. Now that she was strapped in all nice and tightly, AJ took off.
Bouncy, bouncy... WHEEE!!! This was amazing, noooo this was more than amazing. AJ flipped forwards, and then backwards. She jumped as high as her little legs would let her. Back and forth, back and forth. She could do this all day and never get tired.
When she was all done, she walked over to the muggles, and let them get her out of this safety contraption. Her picture was awesome.
Well, she was ready to move on to the next exhibit. "Buy, guys," she called back to the other students she was hanging with. Next time she knew Angel was being pawned off on her. "Okay, but I was just fixing to check out another exhibit. Wanna come? She wanted to see everything.

Hearing that her upset stomach wouldn't happen every time actually did help. It was something to keep in mind and kinda look forward to in a way. It'd be nice to travel without the thought of getting sick each time. "That's good to know. It wasn't as bad as last time and I'm feeling much better now." She told him smiling a little bit. He wanted to be an astronaut? Now that wasn't something she had expected to hear him say but that was cool. If it's what he wanted to do then there was nothing at all wrong with that. "Really? What do you like the most about it?"
Hady laughed softly listening to his recount of what he had done so far. Shifting her bag over her shoulder she slipped her hand into her pocket making sure her change from the cafe was still there. It was. "Sure let's go check it out." She agreed right away accepting his invite. After maybe if they had time they could do something fun.

Now that she tried her hand at moon walking, it was time for her to move on to the next exhibit. They all sounded like tons of fun, but astronaut training caught her attention. AJ jogged over to where that exhibit was, and looked around.
Wow. They would get to be a real life astronaut. Well, they wouldn't get blasted off into space or anything but it was the next best thing. Did she have to wait for the muggles that ran this exhibit before she got her hands and the super awesome stuff?
What to do first? Ohhh, was that like a video game? AJ eyes wandered to her right, and before she knew it her legs were also moving in that direction. This looked like fun. She would totally have what it took to become an astronaut.

Ian had his fill of moon rocks. He had bumped his head on the glass enough trying to get a better look at them. He had even considered using a cell phone to take pictures, but in the end, it would be photos of a rock. Might as well have a pet rock.
He looked down at his brochure and decided there would be less of a queue down at the astronaut training now. He walked that way, whistling a mournful tune that popped up in his head. He wasn't sure why, but it was a nice tune. He tried to figure out where he'd heard it. It stumped him and he never really came to understand what it was or where he had heard it. Maybe he made it up and he was now a song writer. That would be cool, but who would buy a dirge album except mopey girls and emo kids. Oh well, he had made it to the astronaut training area.
Ian wandered about a bit, looking to see if someone knew what was going on. He got in the queue and there was a shorter girl in front of him. He didn't pay much attention, because he was watching what was going on. He still wasn't sure what to expect or how long the line would be so he tapped the girl's (AJ) shoulder to ask if she knew how long the wait would be.
Angel looked at AJ "Yeah I might as well." Angel beamed as she looked at her sister, she was totally happy that her sister didn't mind her coming with her because her sister was totally awesome and well she had been afraid she would sort things out.
Angel smiled at her sister. "So where we going next?" Angel followed her sister without saying a word... now this was very amazing and she was a bit scared.

It seemed like her sister was on board with coming along with her. AJ really didn't mind if she tagged along or not, it was just that AJ planned on doing everything, and AJ hoped Angel wouldn't chicken out. Her sister silently followed her along.

"Are you going to try that out, Angel?" It looked like a really cool video game. If anything it sort of reminded her of the entrance to a laser tag game that you would find at an arcade.
Man, this line was taking forever, and AJ wasn't one for patience. The line was just about to move when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Maybe another one of her friends was there and wanted to join in on the fun.
A smile was on her face, and she turned around to greet the person who was doing the tapping. Her eyes locked on no other than Ian Tinker. Or course it was Ian. Honestly, AJ didn't even have any feelings about him whatsoever anymore. The hate had ebbed, and he was just another person to her.
AJ's mind raced back to the conversation they had in Hadley's office. She could play nice for now. This was too cool of a field trip to be ruined by the likes of Ian. Her smile faltered, but she wasn't raging. Baby steps. "Hi......." Could she really do this? ".......Ian." Look at her being all nice. No tackles, smacks, or insults. If only Hadley could see her now.
Angel looked at her sister and smiled. "Of course I'm going to try this out it looks amazing." Angel really thought it did. "I want to try a lot of things out." Angel had a feeling her sister thought she might chicken out, saying that she might be right but at the minute Angel was feeling very brave until

dream until your • dreams come true ~ Human pygmy puff
Jasmine wandered around the Space Center, trying to decided what she wanted to do next. She hoped that she wouldn't get into trouble for not having a buddy, but oh well. Finally deciding on the Planetarium, Jasmine walked in that direction. She had isited a Planetarium with her mother when she was much younger. She remembered enjoying it very much and hoped that she would like this show as well. When Jasmine arrived at the Planetarium, she looked around for an empty seat. When she found one to her liking, she sat down and got comfortable. The show was scheduled to begin shortly so all she could do was wait.
Jasmine didn't have to wait long because the lights soon dimmed and the ceiling came alive. Leaning back in her seat so she could see, Jasmine smiled as the stars began to move above her head. She felt as if she was zooming through outer space in a space craft. If it wasn't for the motion sickness thing, Jasmine would think that traveling in space could be fun.
The question, "Are we alone?", was posed on the screen. As Jasmine watched the movie she thought about the question. It was an interesting one. Personally, Jasmine found it hard to believe that earthlings were the only living beings in the entire universe. The movie was right about one thing though.....we are alone......for now, as far as we know anyway. Until we find proof, we are considered to be alone.
Jasmine watched, intrigued by the whole movie on the ceiling thing. She found the movie to be informative and very visually appealing. Jasmine could only imagine what space must look like from up there. It must be pretty cool to view the stars and the earth from a spaceship window.......but her mind had started to wander. Before she knew it, the show was over and the lights were on. Jasmine had thoroughly enjoyed the Planetarium show. She glanced at her watch o see what time it was. She was getting very hungry and had to make the call on whether to grab a bite to eat or see another exhibit. Decisions, decisions.

When Ian looked down to actually notice who he had tapped, he saw...AJ. He was prepared to step back and stand against a wall if he had to. When she turned, he stood there. There would be no more shouted accusations of cowardice on his part. He saw as she turned there was a smile, but he didn't expect it to remain. He was correct as he saw her mouth turn downward as she recognized who had tapped her. He wasn't doing anything wrong, so he stood there.
What she did next wasn't exactly surprising, but it was expected either. She...greeted him. That was it. A greeting. No screaming, no rage filled fists of fury, nothing. This was a major development. First Angel, then Adi and now AJ. Things would probably never go back to normal, but this was definite progress. Hi, AJ. Sorry. Didn't mean to disturb. Just curious if you knew how long the queue was taking. Seems a bit slow. He wasn't sure if this was the time or place for apologies, and his mind wasn't quite working in that direction, though perhaps it should have.
It was then that he noticed a greeting from Angel. Angel had been helpful to him. She had spoken to him as a person, not as, well...AJ. He half-heartedly waved to her and said, Hi Angel. Having a good time? He halfways returned her smile, still aware he was in the bubble of destruction if AJ decided that she needed to go all crazy-like on him again.
Ian stuck his hands in his pants pocket and looked at his feet before raising his eyes and glancing nervously between AJ and Angel, wondering if he would receive a response.
Somehow, CB had gotten lost in a crowd of muggles.
They were being herded one way or another- possibly another school group? Maybe a large family? She couldn't tell. But she'd been pushed into the middle of the herd and had just wandered aimlessly with them for a while because no one had really questioned it. They'd patted her back- which she hadn't liked because they were strangers, kind as they might be- and one of them made intelligent comments as they passed things. But suddenly they'd stopped for a bathroom break and she decided this was her time to break free and do something on her own or possibly find the rest of the Hogwarts kids.
She wasn't going to be late for the portkey was she? A small wave of panic washed over her and she scanned the room for a clock, sliding out of the group in the process. Phew. She still had some time. The girl pulled out her map and located the planetarium, which wasn't very far from her current position, and made her way toward it, making sure the muggles weren't watching her leave. They weren't.
Fairly certain that the show had just begun, Coral moved her way into the theater through the darkness, tripping and fumbling her way into an empty seat.

Excellent, then! She now had the opportunity to cool down a bit from all the adrenaline-inducing activities. "Got it!" There was no need to look at the pamphlet or ask for directions or anything, the layout was fairly simple and she had a good sense of direction. All they basically did was go back to where they came from, sort of, and that was all.
Actually, she was rather glad she was sitting now, it was very comfortable, really, compared to the straps and orb they just came from. But she had to squint at her bestie for a second there. Was she for real? How could she ask such a question? Granted, she didn't know if the Star Trek universe was something the Gryffindor was familiar with, but surely she must have heard the word from one or two classes back at Hogwarts. There will always be an idiot suggesting aliens were behind it.
Or at least thinking it.
"I believe the movie will tell you, eventually," she finally said, laughing softly. "Pay attention." A little bit of it never hurt anyone, and it helped the rest.
Well that was hardly an answer if she ever heard one. The show would tell her? Lottie was assuming she'd be paying enough attention here but Lex was only in it for the amazing graphics and the screen that seemed to pop out at you. If it was wizard made then no doubt the things WOULD pop out at you but she supposed she'd have to make due with what the muggles thought through.
Looking to the screen again, she was ready to conclude that aliens were little green things with big squared heads and mismatched accents. "Do they actually look like that?" Had to be sure because now she kinda wanted one.
But then...something--no someone was climbing right over her like she was a piece of furniture to be maneuvered around and for a moment the Gryffindor was set to shove them hard enough they'd fly a few rows down but in the dark room she heard the voice of someone she wouldn't shove. Well gee, thanks Dot. Having them move their legs could have worked too.
"O'course you can stay." And a tentative look to Lottie here on the question of keeping the little snake around through the movie.
"You wouldn't happen to know what an alien is, would you?" Sure she was still waiting for the video to explain it but then what if little Dot knew and waiting became irrelevant? There was always that you know.

The hungry, hungry Hufflepuff arrived at the cafe, his bestie in tow. He inhaled deeply. "Gosh. It smells so good in here.'' Glancing around, he noted there were lots of people milling around. All hungry tourists, obviously.
"Wonder if they have chocolate cake,'' Adi mused to Benny. "I could go for a slice. Or two.'' But sandwiches...there seemed to be loads of those. Soups as well. Yum! Food was food and if he couldn't find any chocolatey stuff, he'd take sandwiches and soup. "Let's go order, Benny.'' The Hufflepuff started off to do just that.
Kace decided to go to another activity. He loved the moonwalk but he wanted to know if he had the stuff to be a real astronaut. As he walked into the arena he noticed there was like a rock climbing thing. But he saw people using it and it looked like they were floating in mid air. Now that was pretty cool! He even saw them grabbing onto the bars. Kace thought he could do that. He lined up behind people waiting anxiously. Once it was his turn he got strapped in and got his harness on. He was nervous but anxious at the same time. The worker told him he could go. He nodded and jumped up...
WWOOOAAHHHHH
Now this was cool! How was he gonna get down. He floated back down and grabbed onto the bar. He saw a worker was looking up making sure he was okay. He smiled and gave her the thumbs up. He continued to jump up and down and grabbed onto it. I guess this taught you to control your jumping skills on the moon? Once he was done he jumped off the bars to be unstrapped. Now onto the next activity which was the circular motion thing.
The Gryffindor tilted his head a little. So she didn't think Aliens could be out there, huh? Zander didn't really know for sure-- of course-- but he considered the possibility. And if they were real that'd be SUPER cool. Unless they were actually evil and trying to takeover Hogwarts by possessing Professors to make them act all weird like Professor Flamsteed and Professor Morgan that one time. But... That probably had nothing to do with Aliens. Zander would like to draw notice to the fact that one particular Professor has shown no symptoms herself, cough cough Professor Romanos. Just saying.
Ahem. Back to the movie. He was totally paying attention to that.
It was kind of hard not to when the ENTIRE ceiling was a part of the show, you know? So he just sat back and watched the rest of it and tried to think anymore about the alien thing. Although, the movie was probably trying to get them to think of that. Probably the purpose of it and all. Especially because the title kind of implied it, but either way he was watching yup.
Zander chuckled along to Cinna's story because a frisbee as a flying saucer? It was a mistake he'd probably make too. LOL. Again, the Gryffindor let his iattention go back to the movie and not before long it was over. Awh. It was actually pretty entertaining. Welp. And... What was that growling? Of course. Must be the stomach. "Where are you headed now, Cinna? I think I might go to the cafe!"
The thing about this movie is that it kind of got you thinking about maybe aliens being real. Although it was still going to take some more convincing. Yep she would need to see a real alien to actually believe in them. That was if they were even real in the first place.
Anyway now that the movie was over Cinna had to figure out where she was going next. She really didn't know where she was going next? She turned to look back at Zander. "I don't know where I'm going next. I may just walk around a take a look at the other places." She shrugged but now that he mentioned it the cafe sounded like a good place to go next.
Muggles, man.
So brave.
If Toby could do that 'raised eyebrow, sceptical look' thing that he'd seen people do, he'd be giving Soph that look right now. So he settled for that kind of 'PSSHHHH' look. You know the one. Right at Soph. But he played along.
"I'd like to think I've done braver things than that in my life," he remarked as they walked.
Interesting thought about Flamsteed though. Where was that guy? Probably off nerding out over moon rocks or something, though Tobias wasn't sure there were any moon rocks here.
"Bet he believes in aliens," Toby replied after a few moments thought. His logic was that HE, TOBY, believed in other lifeforms out in space, so naturally... Airey would as well. "Big ol' universe. Can't just be for us. Maybe we're the aliens." Welp. Now Toby was thinking about other life way out there and just how different they were and would they be nice and was there and alien version of him in an alien version of Hogwarts and-
They were there. Toby saluted the people manning the entrance as they stepped in and headed straight for some seats directly in the middle of the room. He cast his eyes up to the ceiling as she spoke and gave a nod.
"Uh-huh, these things are super cool. I went to a planetarium once before, when I was ten. Don't remember much of it, but they play it all on the ceiling, it's wicked."
Okay, they were seated, settled, fidgety and READY. And just in time, 'cause the show was about to start. Time to leaaarrrn.
