| | |  Astronomy Lesson 3 :: Field Trip to the National Space Centre
The Astronomy classroom looks a bit more vacant than usual as all the chairs are stacked neatly on each desk with their legs sticking upwards. The windows are closed to keep the chilly winds out and the professor's desk at the front of the room has an array of strange things placed upon it. There is also a backpack sitting on the desk next to a stack of museum pamphlets. A box of brown envelopes with each student's name written upon them in Professor Flamsteed's slightly illegible handwriting is not too far away. The chalkboard behind the desk simply reads:
Quote: Take a pamphlet and envelope each.
Please give your permission slip to the professor.
Portkey in half an hour. Professor Flamsteed, back in a suit, is standing beside the chalkboard with a nervous smile upon his face as he hums to himself while waiting for students to file in.
Did you remember to use the lint roller on the small table outside of the classroom? It was there next to the sign that reads, "Not to be used as a brush for your hair" and has the signature of a former student in the bottom right corner.
So come on in and get ready to boldly go where no has gone before!

Sufficiently lint-rolled and marginally exhausted, Thornton walked into the room, hard-earned permission slip in hand. It had been.. a challenge trying to explain via owl that this was an academic excursion for class.
Stepping up to the front of the room, Thornton held up the piece of parchment granting Father's begrudging permission to leave the grounds. "I'm looking forward to our trip, Professor," he said, turning it over.
Grabbing his envelope and a pamphlet, Thornton moved away from the front to leave room for others to arrive. He looked at the board again, then down at the envelope in his hand, wondering if they were permitted to open it.
Unsure, he did nothing, and instead stood near the edge of the room, waiting for the portkey time to come.

Jasmine was glad to be dressed in her muggle clothes today. It just made her feel more comfortable. They were going on a field trip and that was exciting. Professor Flamsteed seemed to be back to his normal, suited self so all was well. Jasmine stopped to de-lint herself, as usual and when she finished, she entered the class.
Seeing a bunch of materials around, Jasmine read the message on the black board. Following the instructions, she took a brochure and looked in the box for an envelope with her name on it. Then she walked up to Professor Flamsteed and greeted him. "Hello Professor. I'm really looking forward to our trip today." Then she handed him her permission slip and went to take a seat.

Dot liked the sticky roller thing, and she always rolled her arms and tummy and then the wall (got a spider once!) before heading into the classroom. Today, she was pleased to see that they were all set up for LEAVING. Leaving was brilliant.
She grabbed up an envelope and pamphelet, each of which was stowed carefully in her satchel. The little girl scurried over to hand her slip to the professor. "My Oggie signed it. He said to tell you if so much as a ginger hair goes astray, he'll make you see stars up close and personal." Dimpley smile, and then Dot skipped over to nudge at Thornton.

There was that sign again, the one that reminded her of Mo every time she read it. Of course she knew the use of a lint roller now--even if she still didn't know what lint was--but she read the sign and still remembered the odd Ravenclaw that made it happen. Just a couple more months and she'd be as free as he was, as the rest of them were.
Needless to say she was all de-linted and ready for the field trip WHICH SHE WAS REALLY EXCITED FOR EVEN IF YOU COULDN'T TELL.
Only thing that dampened things was the fact it was by portkey and there was nothing she hated more when it came to transportation. If the Professor would TELL her exactly where they were going, she and Lottie could legally apparate there and wait on everyone else to arrive. Didn't that sound super easy and a perfect way for her to exercise her soon to be unrestricted power????
"Hey Professor." She said, dropping off the permission slip with the others.

He looked back over to Penelope, and then back again at Dot. "Do you two know each other?" Cause if not, he'd introduce them. But introducing them if they already knew each other was awkward.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Lex enter the room and smile at him. She got a wave, too.

Norah skipped in the direction of the astronomy tower, waving her permission slip in the air, and came to a halt in front of the door. She picked up the lint roller and rolled it over her TOTALLY muggle clothes. The de-linted second year resumed her skipping through the door and handed her permission slip to Professor Flamsteed. "Hi, Professor! I'm sooo excited for the field trip! Nice suit, by the way." Could he SEEEE how excited she was? She bounced a few times just to make sure he was totally clear on her excitement, and then picked up her envelope and pamphlet. The Hufflepuff squinted at it. That was her name, right? Professor Flamsteed's handwriting was almost as bad as hers...almost.
In possession of everything she needed, Norah waved hello to Lex before going to stand beside Jasmine. Hiiii older people! They were cool older people, uh huh. ALMOST as cool as the SUPER COOL FIELD TRIP. Unable to contain herself, the second year resumed bouncing. Oh well, might as well get her energy out now, yeah?

There wasn't that many things that Cora was really excited about about on a daily basic, but today's field trip ranked high on that list. In fact, she had been looking forward to this day for weeks and had been bouncing in excitement all morning. Field trips were cool after all.
Hurrying from toward the astronomy tower, Cora stopped at the small table and began her lint rolling procedure. How one person could get so much lint on oneself from the journey from the common room to the astronomy tower was beyond her. Once she was completely satisfied with her lint-free appearance she entered the classroom. Seeing the state of the room, she smiled. Yes, she was super excited for today.
Walking toward the chalkboard and Professor Flamsteed, she beamed brightly. "Good day, Professor. Beautiful day for a field trip," she said as she pulled her permission slip out and set it with the others, before grabbing a pamphlet and envelope. Placing them in her satchel, she made her way toward the middle of the classroom. | |

Ian headed up to the astronomy classroom. Delinting himself before entering, he rolled himself up and down with the lint roller. He stepped in and walked up to the desk, eyeballing the stuff on top of the desk. He greeted the professor. Good morning, professor. Snappy looking suit there, sir. he handed in his permission slip and then gathered up his envelope. He walked into a blank spot and waited to leave.

When Marigold entered her favorite class (with her favorite teacher and her favorite classroom), she looked a bit frazzled. Maybe it had to do with OWLs coming up and the fact that she had been staying up late studying, or maybe it was letters with bad news from Moo, or maybe it was simply the fact she hadn't bothered to straighten her hair that morning.

It went without saying that Toby used the lint roller over his muggle clothes before entering the classroom, as it was something he no longer even needed to think about. Just a thing that had always been part of this class.
He read the message on the board and did what it said, taking a pamphlet and the envelope that had his name on it, which he found relatively quickly.
"Here y'go, Professor Airey," the Hufflepuff said, holding out his signed permission slip to Flamsteed and glancing at the items on the desk. Portkeys? Maybe. Toby looked up again and smiled at the professor before moving off out of the way and finding a place to just... stand.

Flamsteed was back to being Flamsteed, she knew that just fine by now, but Sophie STILL felt weird about everything. She had always had the utmost respect for the man and thought him to be a highly-esteemed individual to whom she could come for academic support and guidance, but after seeing him act the way he had in that other class...
Well, to be frank, it wigged her out.
The worst part was that she KNEW it wasn't him and she KNEW it wasn't his fault, but as she entered the classroom and her eyes fell on the professor in his normal attire, looking prim and proper, Sophie couldn't muster up the same smile she usually had before the incident - also partially because she wondered if she was going to end up getting in trouble for taking part in the mutiny against him when he was Hooksteed... AND she still wondered if he remembered any of her mouthing off to him. She would, undoubtedly, hold her breath till she graduated in hopes that the man did not know of how she had once spoken to him, possessed by Captain Hook or not, and wouldn't say a word to her about it.
Sophie could read just fine, though, and wasn't going to let her uneasy feelings deter her from following the instructions on the chalkboard. She picked up an envelope and pamphlet before handing over her signed permission slip to Flamsteed.
"..." She offered him a crooked smile and started to turn away without saying anything at all, but she thought better of it and spoke up, "Happy... day." She squinted, a little baffled by the choice of words that had just crossed her lips, and added in an attempt to smooth things over, "...Right-o." She did a little snapping finger-point with her hand. "Stellar."
...And she moved to go stand by Tobes.

Astronomy was OFFICIALLY officially SUPER officially his favourtist subject EVER! FIELD TRIP! Heheeee!
Dressed in simple muggle attire of black denim pants, a red shirt and a faded grey hoodie, red sneakers and his backpack over his shoulders, Zeke paused outside the classroom and eyed the lint roller. Did he have to? Still? ......... eeeehh, he would, just cause. He didn't use the roller ALL OVER, just on his sleeves, and then back it went, and IN he went. Fun fun fun!
"Hello Professor!" he beamed, handing over his permission slip, which was actually signed! - cause he had wondered if it might get lost in Emily's mail... she got lots... but HIS was special. "By the way, this is awesome, Professor," Zeke added enthusiastically with two thumbs up, before moving away and joining his peers.
In passing, he noticed the instructions on the board, and so he double backed to pick up his pamphlet and envelope...

Was it just him, or did his name look more like Meke Bogers?
....
It was probably just him. All was well.
While he waited for the portkeying business, he opened his pamphlet and browsed. This would be EXCITING!

After the last lesson, Brooklyn wasn’t entirely sure what to expect as she’d made her way up to the Astronomy classroom. At least, she was hoping things wouldn’t go quite as crazy if they were going on a field trip. Even if Professor Flamsteed still thought he was Captain Hook, he couldn’t cause that much trouble out in public. She didn’t think so, anyway, but then she didn’t know. Either way, she’d come prepared. She’d made sure every speck of dust and lint was gone from her clothing, her hair was perfect and she had her permission slip in her bag. The only thing she didn’t know was how she’d escape if things really did end up like before. She’d figure that out, though, if she needed to. She wasn’t going to deal with craziness if she didn’t have to.
Stepping inside the classroom, though, she relaxed slightly as she saw the professor looking normal. No costumes or anything, anyhow. Hopefully that meant things were back to normal. “Good morning, Professor Flamsteed,” she said sweetly, exchanging her permission slip for one of the pamphlets and the envelope with her name on it. She’d looked curiously at that, but didn’t open it. She’d find out what that was eventually. Now all that was left was waiting for them to leave. Portkeys were new to her. She’d always dome side-along apparition with her parents, when they hadn’t used Muggle transportation. She preferred the apparition since it meant she was more special.

Hadleigh was ready for this class trip. She couldn't wait for it and had sent the permission slip to her parents with a note the moment the Professor had handed them out in class. Her father had signed it without question returning it to her. So now here she was walking to Astronomy with her permission slip inside an envelop which was held in her hand.
Stopping outside the door she picked up the familiar lint roller and ran it over her clothing. One could never be to sure about lint and fur really. Setting the roller down she stepped into the room. Everything seemed to be okay, the Professor appeared in his right mind as did everyone else. Hopefully this would all go well and they'd have a great time.
"Good morning Professor, here's my permission slip my daddy signed it for me." She smiled sweetly handing the envelop over. Yup she had said her 'daddy' and she wasn't embarrassed about it one bit. Checking out the board behind the Professor she read over what it said before collecting a pamphlet and an envelop with her name.
Hady walked to a seat and sat down while she waited for the next instructions or someone to talk to. Whichever came first really. | |

Field Trip...
They were going on a field trip, an uncommon thing unless one counted Hogsmeade weekends.But this was a genuine, out of the castle for a class trip, permission slip and all adventure. Ben was game, as long as no crazy happenings happened, they were going someplace possibly muggle after all. Not a place to be messing with magical fairy tale characters when you couldn't even use your wand.
"Good day, Professor," he greeted as he handed in his permission slip. The fourth year exchanging it for a packet and envelope as directed. More paperwork for the field trip, he supposed, or homework. Looking for his friends in the closed-off classroom, he spotted Angel and moved to stand beside his girlfriend. "Hey..."

Despite the last drama of the last few days, or maybe because of it, Justine was especially keen for today's field trip, so keen that she managed to arrive to class ages before it had even properly begun, something she didn't generally make a point of doing. Had she de-linted? Yes, yes, she believed she had, Justine sort of vaguely recalled going through the motions of running the lint brush over her adorable clothes, but she thought she might've been remembering from last time...
Last time when Hooksteed had been a thing and she hadn't been able to wait tell Conn-
Hahaha. Nope, she was not going to think that name, or anything associated with said name. No thanks. Flipping back her hair, Justine approached the nervous seeming Professor and handed him her slip. *Good Morning, Professor. I'm really looking forvard to zis field trip," What, why had she done the accent? She hadn't meant to, it had just happened. Weird.
Turning away from the Professor, she spotted Lux speaking to a girl she had seen, but never spoke to. "Hey Lux, good morning," Justine added, as an after thought to both girls, managing a small smile. She pulled unnecessarily at her beanie, making sure it was properly in place, and she was smoothing out the tips of her hair, she couldn't seem to keep still.

Ian was dressed in his Muggle clothes , ready for this trip. He looked into his envelope, wondering what great things they were going to be about today. Let's see...he'd had a lab coat and a food fight in the class as well as other out of this world lessons. He was pretty excited about this. He wasn't keen on everything, but his nerdy self loved him some museum and educational trips. Plus, this would be his first time using a portkey. He searched through his backpack for the fifteenth time, making sure he had all the things he needed. He even included his astronaut food items he had made. Maybe he could get someone to try one. He walked over to Zeke and looked around for others he might know.
He spoke to his buddy. Hey Zeke. I made that astronaut food in the kitchen and made enough so I'd have at least 2 tubes extra. You wanna try some later? He had tried it and it wasn't bad, at least he didn't think so. He thought the splash of malt vinegar he'd added to the fish and chips rounded them out nicely.

FIELD TRIP!
Woot! They were getting out of the Castle! Not that Adi didn't like the old Castle. It was just great to be going somewhere awesome for a lesson. He delinted himself before stepping into the classroom.
"Hello, Professor!'' Without waiting to be asked for his permission slip, he held it out for the man to take. Take an envelope and pamphlet, according to the board? Okay. He took one of each as he looked around to see who else was there. Loads of persons actually. Heeeey, Lux, Jasmine, Hady! There was a Benny and an Angel too.
The Hufflepuff headed over to the two. "Hi, hi.'' Grins. They got 'em.

Eden was excited for today's lesson BECAAAAUSE field trips were always more exciting than sitting in a classroom, listening to professors DRONE ON about things. Not that Professor Flamy USUALLY did this, but still. She knew he was no longer Hook--thank MERLIN for that. She didn't feel nearly as anxious for his class today. HMPH.
Stepping inside after using the lint-roller rather quickly, she spotted lots of familiar faces. She sent a wave to both Jasmine and Toby, but she went to stand by the cuuuuuute wittle Thornton and smiled his way. "Hi, Thorny." She said softly, not knowing if this nickname was okay or not--but she was sure using it. It was CUTE okay, and Thornton was a cute little FIRSTIE.
Where was Professor Flamsteed--OH THERE. She waved and smiled. "Mornin' Professor Flamsteed--" she said softly before going to give him her permission slip. Thank Merlin her parents were home right now, yeah?
SHE WAS EXCITED. YES YES YES. And maybe bouncing a bit.

Goldilocks had been hunting through the girl's dorm for new ribbons for her spiraled locks when she came across a permission slip for Maddison Cooper. Boring name, Maddison. Goldilocks wasn't a fan but the promise of an adventure to the National Space Center was enough to make her pocket the slip and make her way to the Astronomy tower on the very day they were meant to go.
After skipping her way to the classroom, the girl was ever so tired and she took a moment to catch her breath. Going to school was even more tiring than picking wild flowers in the forest and that was saying something.
Bending down over the various envelopes, Goldilocks considered her options. That name there? Well it was far too hard to say. Oh and that one?! It was even more boring than Maddison was! It just wouldn't do. She guessed she'd have to settle on the one meant for the girl she'd found the permission slip for even though her name had so much more gusto.
"Oh how I wish there was a place for me to rest my feet," She exclaimed, handing over the slip of paper to the man she assumed was in charge. All the chairs being stacked sure posed a problem for her, that much was true. She guessed she'd simply have to go stand with one of the students. And so she did.
