The usual Ancient Runes Classroom was set up with rows of desks and chairs as usual, with the students' nametags perched on each of their desk. The professor was standing in front of his big desk, leaning on his cane and waiting for the students to file in quietly. There was an empty space in the far back of the classroom clearly been emptied of any chairs or desks for a purpose.
Walk in, take your assigned seat, and try to keep quiet. Botros is watching!
ooc: - Lesson will start in 12 hours, you can RP your character walking in now. Class has already STARTED, pretend as if you were here since the beginning.
- This class is held on March, 31st (IC).
- All SS Rules & Ancient Runes guidelines apply, make sure to read them if you haven't already.

That whole Othala thing, it made way more sense when the Professor was explaining it to Toby. No doubt about it so the Gryffindor casually scribbled it all down in the event it might be needed later on in her NEWTs or something--but really she was hoping it wouldn't because the likelihood of Lex going over her notes was minimal. With the last 'T' crossed and the last 'I' dotted, she turned her attention to the Professor again who was suggesting they got into groups.
Group work without Lottie, eh.
Even after the Professor was done explaining, Lex stayed seated for a moment, weighing her options when it came to her future group mates. It wasn't that she had a problem with any of them but rather that she didn't have much reason to like some of them either. The downside to having the graduation blues, you didn't see the sense in making new friends after the old ones left, when you were headed out too.
But enough about that, she needed a group so the Gryffindor launched off her seat and went to join those who'd gone and joined Toby. That was a decent choice right there. "I can draw circles good enough." She said, in reply to Sophie's question she'd arrived just in time the hear. "But really I can do anything I'm needed to." Real team player this one, yup....most times.

Big grinning from Tobes over here as his answer turned out to be right. That clapping though, gosh. Especially from that Sophie Brown; what a punk. It was a good job Toby didn't really blush all that much or he might have gone red or something, though he did appreciate the encouragement and praise very much, because it was easy to sometimes wonder if you were on track in this class. And he was, which was ace.
That was a shame that they couldn't try those charms out, but Toby didn't dwell on it too long, because he was sure they'd get to try something else that could be just as fun and interesting. The Hufflepuff listened and watched as Botros moved to the back of the room, turning in his chair to see him better.
Mkay... mkay... mka- wait. Tempus. That was HIM. Neat. Toby turned back to his desk and made extra sure to write all of that information and the instructions down, not wanting to miss anything later. And then it was time to get started!
Tobias gathered up his notes once he was done, and moved along to the back of the room where a group soon started to form around him. Gabe and Soph. Hello frieeends, smiles for both of you. The Hufflepuff looked around the room to see if anyone else was heading their way, and then looked back to focus on the task.
"Yeah, if we start with the circles, one inside another, then we can work on making it symmetrical, as that's the more important part," he agreed, crouching down to check out the self-inking brushes now he was a little closer. They were meant to draw the circle parts, right? Sure. "Then we can all have a go at at least one rune each, depending on how many others join us."
Toby straightened again, and looked at Lex, who'd joined them. "Cool! D'you wanna do those then, Lex?" Big smiles for her, 'cause Toby was remembering a particular Astronomy lesson back in his first year where they'd worked together out on the grounds. It seemed poetic, working together in his first year, and then again in her seventh year. Toby then looked from her to Soph and Gabe. "Did you guys have a rune in mind that you wanted to paint out?" Just in case someone reeeeally had their heart set on one. It seemed fair to ask.

Minimal girls. That's all Gabe needed to tell himself......and well, did anyone really expect to work with Toby without a Sophie Brown? They were synonymous with one another at this point. At least, for him , anyway.
Love was weird.
......and the Head Girl. Well....Gabe was too terrified of her as a person to even look her way for too long. So, there was that......but he could AND WOULD focus on just the activity. No girls were going to mess his grades, thank you very much. Just needed to get his head on right.
".........I can't, uh, do circles without..........graphing paper." NO stuttering!.....and the Head Girl girl had mentioned she was okay at circles...and even just 'okay' was better than what he could produce. Gabe wasn't an artist. Painful but true.
"I can do whatever runes you lot.....don't want, I suppose." That sounded deeply subservient ...but Gabe (who was coloring at himself) enjoyed all the runes and would've been perfectly fine either way. Maybe something with more lines and angles for him, though....because then he could treat it as architectural design.

Group time. Which group did she want to choose? She knew of Jasmine and Kace. Jasmine was super nice and every time that AJ thought about her she thought about the valentine card that the older girl made her. Plus, her boyfriend had chosen that group. Hmmm....
Deciding that she would join her man, AJ wandered over to that group. "Hey Jasmine, and Adi." There was another girl that she hadn't met before. "I'm AJ," she said while extending her hand to her.
And then there were four. When AJ came and joined the group, Jasmine welcomed her. "Hello AJ, I'm glad you decided to join us." Looking around, it seemed that most everyone had already decided on their group. "Well it looks like it might be just the four of us." That was just fine with Jasmine. If anyone else wanted to join them later, that would be fine too. "We should probably get started then. We should get some brushes first and then we need to get our ring drawn. There are nine runes that need to be drawn so that's two apiece, plus one extra."
"Does anyone have a suggestion on how we can get a nice round circle? Any volunteers?" Getting the circles right should be the hardest part, hopefully. Jasmine took a moment to go and get one of the ginormous paint brushes to work with. "Looks like we're all set. Let's get started."

That was what Benny was busy doing through most of the Ancient Runes lesson. Some of it sunk in and some of it made his head spin at times but he wasn't totally lost. However the fourth year wasn't sure what to do as they were instructed to break into three random groups, the leaders of said group announced by their last names.
Tempus, Guidry, and Lecium?
He wasn't aware of any of them as people he was familiar with. So when the three groups started gathering together in various areas, Ben did the only thing he could think of...follow Adi and AJ. Plenty of random acquaintances in the group already besides the familiar faces. "Hey," he said as he came up to them, "Can I join you?" Thinking for a moment, he added "I'm Ben."
For those that didn't really know him. Or at least he didn't think they did.
But enough about that, she needed a group so the Gryffindor launched off her seat and went to join those who'd gone and joined Toby. That was a decent choice right there. Seriously? Her choice was rather obvious, and not because of Lex this time, sorry, but because of Tobias. Even if that meant the Sophie from Ravenclaw and Yearbook boy.
Who couldn't do circles without graphing paper. "I draw perfect circles, I can do those with Lex... or a rune." She didn't mind either, but she was already looking at brushes with Tobias. Really, she was staying in this group. The other options didn't suit her.
The red pigment made her remember of West, though, as something of the sorts was talked about the first time she met Botros, which was the first time she properly met him, and a smile appeared on her face, suddenly scanning the room as if she could spot him, but... looked back to the brushes and group people soon enough.

She was a prefect-yes, but runes was not exactly her forté. She was now feeling a tad panick stricken about the whole thing.
As the groups began to form, Jasmine put on her confident face. When the first student headed her way, she smiled. It was Adi and Jasmine was relieved to see a familiar face. "Hi there", she said to her friend. "Thanks for joining my group." Looking around, she wondered if she should try to recruit some students.
Then Jasmine saw another familiar face approaching. It was Zhenya , her partner from Potions. "Hi Zhenya. Come and join us." Now that there were three of them, they were officially a group. Addressing her first group members, Jasmine said, "Maybe we should try to get at least a couple more students, then we can get started." Where to begin, that was the big question. "Think fast Guidry", she thought to herself.
"Hi Jasmine! Thanks," she added, glad Jasmine was happy with her being in the group. So potions wasn't a complete disaster, good!
Hmm… they definitely needed more people, but Zhenya didn't really want to jump up and down, bringing people's attention to her. They did need more people though… "Hmm maybe we could invite people to join," she suggested.

Just as Zhenya was talking to Jasmine about drawing the circle, someone else walked up. Another person she'd never met before. Surprise, surprise!
His name was Ben. That was a nice name. She smiled at him; he obviously knew the faces in the group. "Hi Ben, I'm Zhenya," she greeted him.
They had a really strong group so far - Tobes, Gabe, Lex, and herself - and she sort of hoped that would be all because they were all people Sophie trusted and appreciated. Un...til Lotus joined them, and then Soph got a little anxious. Sure, the Hufflepuff girl had been nice enough to her during their conversation about Star Trek and Flamsteed, but would one conversation really change many years of previous disinterest toward interacting with her?
Probably not.
She stayed close by Tobes, glad that Lex seemed interested in doing the circle for them and that Lotus was game to help with that, too. That was sorted, then. "Can I draw... ummmm... Algiz, when the time comes? It looks like a person going," she raised her arms up in the air so her body was in the shape of a 'Y,' grinning away. "Looks super victorious."
AND it would be a hard rune to mess up with its simple lines and angles, so... she was game for doing the easiest thing that she couldn't mess up so her group wouldn't get mad at her. She didn't want to let anyone down at ANY time, but especially with the Head Girl, Lotus, and CB's boytoy there. She was undoubtedly the weakest link of the group - at least for THIS subject - so she felt like she had something to PROVE. Algiz was totally a strategic choice, and she plastered on the most innocent of smiles so people would believe in her. Heh.

Jasmine was such a nice girl, and AJ knew that she made the right choice in choosing this group. "Of course. I'm glad to be here," Not to mention that Adi was there. Before long Benny joined them as well. It was official. They were going to have the best group ever. He got a head nod as an acknowledgement.
The only girl that she didn't know shook her hand and introduced herself. "Nice to meet you." She seemed really nice and she had volunteered to draw the circle which was good since AJ was so not an artist.
"Dividing up the runes seems like a good idea to me. I'm okay with any of them." Making a perfect circle was probably going to be the hardest task. The runes didn't have to be perfect, right?
AJ waited to see how they would go about dividing up the runes. It was be easier, in her opinion, to just go in order and assign them out that way. AJ was completely open to anything though.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
She was going to take Toby's smile along with the silent complacency of Sophie and that Gabe guy to mean that she was welcome to join--that and Toby agreeing she could do the circles. Awesome, though she wouldn't have complained if someone else wanted to because it wasn't that serious and they just needed this done, yeah?
The Gryffindor grinned when they were joined by her bestie. Now THIS, this was how you got her to enjoy Ancient Runes--or actually you could let her blow things up with runes too but that was hardly the point right now.
The Hogwartian was brilliant at drawing so this circle sharing wouldn't be a problem at all. "I can start on one right here," She said, sliding her foot along the ground to show the area her circle would encompass, "and I think you can start yours right next to it." Just in case cause if they saved the one in the middle for last they may find that they didn't leave enough room and the last (middle) circle wouldn't be all that symmetrical.
Lex took one of the large self inking brushes and handed another to Lottie. She'd have passed along the others for the rest of the group but they wouldn't begin until they were done so....best wait? "How big d'you guys think we should make them?"

Adi was totally liking the way Jasmine was dividing stuff among the group's members. Everyone would be getting a chance at the Runes which was a relief to Adi because he certainly did not want to screw up their work with something that did not come close to a circle.
So...that Slytherin girl- Zhenya Jasmine said- had the go ahead to do the drawing of the circle. Adi gave her an encouraging grin. She seemed a bit on the shy side at first. Or was it because she didn't know him? Either way,she was up first.

Oh goody, official permission from the Ravenclaw prefect. Jasmine Guidry he put together given what she gave and what Botros had offered when he had set the leaders in motion. She wasn't a totally stranger to him it seemed once seeing her and Adi certainly knew her so all was well for his choice. "Anyone want me in their group?" Angel didn't want to go into a group where she wasn't wanted it would be better to go into a group where she was wanted and needed right.
Hearing Angel's voice, Benny turned towards the second year girl. "Could always join us, Angel," he answered her question with a small yet welcoming smile. "Make our group complete." They really did seem to work well together with or without others around them as well.
So Toby WAS right. Not too surprising since the boy seemed to be really good at this subject. Quickly Lux recorded all new information into her notebook.
But now it was activity time which was amazing! They were splitting into groups, and Toby, Jasmine, and Kace were all amazing people but for this one she obviously had to join with Kace since he was one of her best friends. Walking over to him, she smiled. "Hey, Penguin!"
Kace was stunned to hear that Bostros made him team leader. He perked when he heard his name and thought it was a mistake. "Ermm Professor I am not team leader material.." he said. He felt Toby was more team leader and so was Jasmine. Then he saw Lux join him and he smiled and saw his best friend joining him. "Hey Cucumber.." he greeted her back. "Alright so let's go on with this project." he clapped his hand together. "So we need to draw a capture charm.." he said looking at the board. That shouldn't be too hard since he was a graffiti artist in training.
"Alright Lux let's start with drawing the huge circle for the capture charm.." he said offering the first step. He remembered the red pigment was used for drawing symbols. He noted that was quite excited to use the big paint brush.

Well, it looked like it was going to be just her and Kace, that was fine with Lux because she knew that people tended to migrate where other people were going. She herself would choose to be in Bay's group for an activity whenever possible. Sometimes you didn't get a choice in the matter, but whenever possible she loved working with her boyfriend.
Right, they needed to get those drawings done. This sounded like fun; she was excited to use those paintbrushes. The thing about the red paint was interesting and she had no idea that was the colour used. She learned something new every day.
"You got it, captain!" She told Kace before starting to make a circle with the paintbrush. It wasn't too easy, but she made sure it was symmetrical. Or at least she THOUGHT it was symmetrical.

She smiled at Adi, who introduced himself to her; "Hi Adi, I'm Zhenya," she said cheerfully.
She was becoming slightly overwhelmed by all these new faces she was interacting with.
Adi said he can help with the runes but not the circle, which suited Zhenya fine. She could draw the runes easy enough but was rubbish at trying to interpret them. Maybe they needed someone who understood them slightly more to draw them.
This Gryffindor girl, AJ, was nice. She smiled again and said "Nice to meet you too," and gave Ben a smile. She looked towards Jasmine for some instructions.
Chief… circle… drawer? She simultaneously swelled with pride and felt her butterflies fly around in her stomach. What if she did a terrible circle? Then their runes wouldn't work, and then they would fail… She smiled, pushing negative thoughts away, "Okay, I'll give it a go!" she said, noticing an encouraging smile from Adi. taking the brush from Jasmine. It was HUGE! But she could.. control it. She mapped out a spot with her eyes, that was where she would paint her circle. She painted the circle, taking it slow enough to make sure she could adjust the pressure or distance if she needed to. When she was finished she looked down at a pretty symmetrical circle. Well, as symmetrical as she could do it.
Neat, Lottie was here too! They had a read good group here. Toby grinned at the seventh year as she joined them, and nodded his ascent to the whole circle drawing thing.
"Sure, if you and Lex both do that, and then there's enough runes that we can probably all paint at least one," he added, taking another look up at the diagram on the board and double-checking that it corresponded with his notes. Yeah, that worked out good. "As long as everyone gets to have a go." With the big swooshy brushes, that was.
And circle drawing was commencing. Toby considered Lex's question for a moment, glancing at the other groups before replying.
"Well, Professor Botros said the size doesn't matter, but I reckon it should be big enough for us to get the runes painted clearly. Perhaps..." he stepped forward half a step and pointed at a noticeable scuff on the floor a little ways away. "The outside one can be about as wide as from here to that mark there? That gives us a good amount of space to work with." Toby waited until he was pretty sure they knew what he was talking about, and then stepped back again to return to his position standing in between the two Ravenclaws.
"Okay, so Soph, you can take Algiz once they're done. Maybe just one to start with, 'til we know if anyone else is joining us." Toby wasn't sure how likely that was, as most people seemed to have picked a group, but still. "And Gabe, how about if you do Uruz? Then I might do Othala and at least one Nauthiz... and Lottie and Lex, you can do the other Nauthiz runes if you want?" He looked back at both seventh years as he spoke, still very cheerful. Was that okay? He hoped so.
Now he'd sort of delegated all that, Toby paused and made to watch the others and their circle painting, when he had a sudden thought.
"Hey, here's a thought," he spoke again, mainly addressing Gabe and Soph in particular. "What we could do is, while they're painting the circles, we could move around the outside and try to work out exactly where the runes need to go to make it perfectly symmetrical, and place some parchment or spare quills down on the floor as markers. So then when it's time to paint the runes, all the technical stuff is already worked out." Yeah? It would give them something to do while the other work was being done, after all.
With that in mind, Toby went ahead and placed the first quill down on the floor at the edge of the circle, making sure to stay out of Lex and Lotus' way while they worked.

Notes. Notes were being taken and, because of this, he'd almost missed what Botros had said about the activity.
Almost.
There was also the matter of wrapping his head around whatever was going on in this lesson because, for some reason, Grayson just did not understand. It seemed as though the words were going in one ear and out the other. Ridiculous, it was. Furrowing his eyebrows, the boy gave his notes one more look through before getting up to go and join a group. Finally.
And whose group was he gonna join? Toby's, of course!
Heading over towards the Hufflepuff, Grayson stood there and tried to catch a snippet of what they were talking about. Drawing circles and drawing in the runes. Sounded simple enough. "Are we meant to have the same number of runes as Botros put up on the board or is it dependent on how big the circles are?" he asked, addressing Toby's group at large.
And.......... question for Toby. 'Sup "Want me to do anything, Toby?" Since he was practically a genius at the subject from what Whitty could tell and he had been delegating tasks and all.
ANYWAY. 'As long as everyone gets to have a go.' What a Hufflepuff, Tobias. She smiled at him, though, and nodded at his instructions and Lex's. "Sure, of course." Lottie will start with that circle, and it'll be close to the size Tobias set for them. Seemed good enough to her, all the other runes will be able to be drawn onto it.
And so she took the brush Lex had handed her and started with her circle. It was very symmetrical. She found herself thinking about Vesper this time around and how much she misses her. Doing yoga on her own all the time was something that took time to get used to.
Circle. Right. This task didn't take her long, but she did take some time so it was as perfect as possible. She watched her bestie perform this same task, though she could've given it to Grayson, like she did in Muggle Studies that one time. But this was Ancient Runes, and it was MLE-related, so she would want to do this.
"Done with one circle." She announced. Now the runes could come.
It was nice to see Tobias in charge, by the way. He was doing such a good job, too.

.........and more people were flocking to their group, which even Gabe would admit was an intellectually strong one. Logically, it was best to have a magical balance and they had just acquired a Slytherin...and another Hufflepuff. All they needed now was a female Slytherin (anxiety aside)...and a male Gryffindor. Then it would be symmetrical. He'd read somewhere that that was* significant in a few ancient civilizations. For rituals.
.....and wasn't this akin to a ritual? Just saying.
Directing his attention and focus solely on Toby, because even though he'd realized something neat magically, increasing numbers in close by classmates still spooked him, Gabe gestured. "It'd be best to stand diagonally to one another..." On the outsides of the circle, like Toby had said just a moment ago. "...to, um, ensure they're distinctly in line. It's best to....uh, start with North and South.....and then, East and West....." LOTS OF GESTURING. Words and explaining were difficult. "....and doing the four in between spaces for last."
It would ensure perfect alignment....if they wanted to focus on that aspect. Gabe flushed brightly, pausing to rub his cheeks. "Just an idea."
Mumble, mumble.
Also relieved by his Uruz assignment, the Ravenclaw began tentatively demonstrating his thought process....which was basically Toby's idea....but with an addition. Sorta like......fusion. Gabe had fused his idea with Toby's basically.......because nods to science were his thing.
Carefully moving around the circle to face the quill just laid by Toby (AND NOT DISTURBING THE CIRCLE DRAWERS), he slowly placed his down....and then moved to where 'East' and 'West' would be, placing another quill.....
Did this make sense?

Kace chuckled and liked Lux's attitude. He nodded and saw her drawing the circle and he liked it. "Great job Lux.." he said nodding and once he saw the circle was done on the outer side. He drew the circle inside since he was copying it and then once he did that, they needed to draw the runes. "Alright Lux we need to get the red paint brushes and start painting the runes.." he told her looking at the picture.
"I will start drawing Othala in the middle and you can begin drawing Algiz right across from me?" he said and got his red paint brush and started to draw Othala in the middle. It wasn't too hard because he knew how to paint.

It made Lux smile when Kace told her that she was doing a good job. "Right back at you, partner." They made a great team because they were besties.
Once he was done drawing the inner circle and had started drawing Othala, she moved on to drawing one of the Algiz Runes. There were two of them and they were right beside the Rune that Kace was workng on. Walking to the left border of the circle in what she judged to be the right spot, she drew a straight line going vertically. She made sure its length matched Othala's as closely as possible. Next she gave the Rune two arms near the top. There one Algiz drawn.
Moving to the other side of the circle, she carefully repeated the same process. Now she would wait for more instructions since Kace WAS in charge of the operation.

Jasmine looked at the board and tried to figure out how best to divide up the workload. As she took a moment to think, Jasmine noticed another student in the vicinity. Seeing the other Valentine sister seemingly looking for a home, Jasmine waved her over. "Would you like to join us?" As long as they could play together nicely, Jasmine was all for both sisters being in her group.
Jasmine smiled as the group seemed to be bonding nicely. A happy team made for a good result and well, so far so good. Zhenya was hard at work drawing a circle and in no time she was finished. Standing back, Jasmine admired her work.
"Looks good", she said. "You did a great job. Now that you're on a roll, would you like to draw the little inner circle too?". If not, I can give it a try."
Figuring it was time to divvy up the resposibilities Jasmine addressed the rest of the group. "When the second circle is finished, we need to get started on the runes. If anyone has a preference on which one they draw, speak now, otherwise we can just assign them randomly."
Hearing no objections, Jasmine handed out rune assignments. "Adi, you take Uruz. AJ, you've got the lower two Nauthiz's. Ben, you can paint Algiz. Miss Angel, are you with us? If so, you can take Nauthiz....the top two. I'll do Othala. Zhenya, you did the heavy lifting. You can sit this one out.....unless someone wants to share one of their runes with you." Hopefully she didn't forget anyone.
"Alright everyone, let's go to work."
