High up in the top-most reaches of the Castle is a tower dedicated to Ravenclaw House. You come across the entrance in the form of a door with no handle or lock but a single knocker shaped like the head of an eagle. If, and only if, you answer the riddle that the eagle presents you, you may gain entrance to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Hey, there's a reason that Ravenclaw is the house for those with brains.
Upon entering the Common Room you see a number of things but mostly you see the floor to ceiling windows that span around almost the entire curved room. Beyond their panes you can see what looks like all of Hogwarts' campus and the majestic mountain range beyond. One sweeping look through them and you can see the Forbidden Forest, Quidditch Pitch, The Greenhouses, the Black Lake, and even the shimmering light from the windows in Hogsmeade. At nighttime, the glass reveals the starry night beyond.
Placed on the center of the curved wall is a large fireplace with plenty of navy blue sofas and armchairs placed around it. They are there for students to lounge as they work on homework, socialize or just relax and enjoy the view between lessons. A crowded night in the Common Room for a party or rowdy game of Gobstones? Take a seat on the newly installed deep blue carpet.
Along the wall you entered there is the Announcements Board where all things will be posted regarding school events, lessons, and homework as well as the Study Tables that are provided for a more structured setting for Ravenclaws to do what Ravenclaws do best. The Grey Lady, the House ghost of Ravenclaw tends to visit this spot especially every now and then. And last but not least, to the right of where the impressive statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself stands, is the staircase leading to the dormitories. Once you ascend these stairs, going to the right will take you to the ones allotted for the girls and the left will lead you to the ones reserved for the boys.
Come in, relax, have fun and make yourselves at home.
Welcome to Ravenclaw!
Melek looked up at her annoyed. Why do people insist on interrupting her reading? She sighed and frowned, "Hey... and I suppose so... I mean it was like any other season... but it is interesting to spend a season away from my home... I just transferred here... oh... ummm Im Melek or Mel by the way... third year..." She eyed the girl and finished her chocolate frog, taking out two and held one out to the girl, "How was your summer?" She started munching on the other one and smiled at the girl.
Oh. Clearly she had upset the girl... Or.. maybe not.
"Well, that's good to hear." Emma replied, smiling over at the girl. Maybe if she was nice enough, the girl would warm up to her a bit.
"I'm Emily Smith, but you can call me Emma. I'm also a third year here, not a transfer though.." She added, smiling as she watched the girl take out two more frogs, offering her one of them.
"Thank you! I love these things! They're my favorite! Well, any kind of sweet could be considered my favorite, but these are the best by far." Emma gushed. Hopefully this girl wasn't going to think she was too much of an oddball.
She just really liked chocolate. A lot. A lotta lot.
"Oh, my summer was okay. I spent a lot of time at home with family..too much if you ask me, but it's not like my parents were going to let me run amok, especially with all of the crazy stuff that's been happening out in the world lately. I wish they'd have let up a bit though.." She wrinkled her nose, taking a bite of chocolatey goodness.

Mmm. Perfection.
"Excited for any classes this term?"
"I suppose it is but I dont see why you would... I mean we dont know each other so why do you want to let me have a good summer... if you arent a nice person..." She pondered for a moment, "Though, I guess you are a good person because you wanted me to have a nice summer even without me knowing you..." Melek curled her legs up under her even more and watched the girl.
"Nice meeting you, Emily... or um Emma... if you really do prefer that..." She gave a light smile. "Same house, same year... how nice... though you arent a transfer... but then again not everyone is so it is stil nice." She gave a slight nod and smiled at the girl.
"Its not a problem... and you love them? I suppose that is good..." She wasnt too sure though. "They are your favorite but all sweets are your favorite? That makes no sense... they are either your favorite or not your favorite and all sweets cant be your favorite because if they are then none is because you like them the same..." A sigh escaped her lips and she looked at the girl. "But then again you did say they are the best which makes another contradiction to the contradiction that you just had..." This girl was so confusing!
"I am glad that it was okay... and oh how nice... that sounds like fun..." She lowered her eyes and sighed, thinking of her parents. "Hmmm I suppose not... and eh... they are just concern..." Melek shrugged and glanced at her book, frowning.
She shrugged again, "Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies, both sounds good but im not looking forward to Potions and especially not now..." Mel thought about the evil professor and sighed, "What about you?"

"Hi. What's wrong?" She was concerned, but she tried to keep her tone casual as to not attract others to their conversation. Obediently, she raised the brush up to him and leaned forward into the gift in her lap to let him sit behind her on the armchair without knocking her in the head. "This is Brynn. New firstie, yeah?" That hadn't been confirmed to her yet, but she was pretty sure, so she looked to the girl for clarification.
"Nothing's wrong," Mo took the brush from Sophie as he seated himself in the squashy armchair. He had to push himself all the way up to the front to reach her little knobby head, but he appreciated the distraction and wasn't going to fuss about it. "Just... never seem to say the right thing to our Head of House. Dora's allergic to chickens?"
Idiot.
He smiled at the firstie and saluted her with the brush before turning his attention to Sophie's hair. "I"m going to do a single plait. No need to be fancy. Okay?"

Getting her slightly embarrassed self under control, the redhead smiled widely at the Divinations professor and gave her a little wave. She sure seemed nice. All turn in? Oh, was it bedtime already? Brynn's face fell at the thought. She was far too excited to sleep, besides she thought people stayed up super late at sleepovers. Then hearing her name, she turned back to Sophie and the boy, who had his shirt back on, though it was inside out now. She stared at him curiously for a moment, then nodded her agreement to Sophie's words. "I'm Brynn, new firstie," she repeated for confirmation.
"Brynn. I like it. You sound like mischief, which means you and Soph will get along fine. This braiding thing... it's not my day job, so you don't have to go spreading it around the school, okay?" He tapped the top of Sophie's head to get her to lean forward.
"I'm Mo. Marcus Branxton. I'm the Quidditch Captain and a sixth year." Priorities. "Do you play?"

"Creepy! Nice to see you out and about and interacting with real people for once," Mo waved at the blond and perky Mika as she bounced around like one of those Muggle superballs. The magical equivalent, perhaps.
"Do you have snacks?"

Peeping up from behind the sofa, Flipper grasped as tight as he dared in his hands, Benjy finally got chance to look round the Common Room. Ah, familiar faces. And new ones.
...and Professor Elwood.
"Hi Professor," he said with a grin, before scooting over to Sophie and Mo and ickle firstie!person. "Ahoy there! What have I been missing whilst toad hunting?"
Oh, Benjy. Mo was supposed to have a word with the boy, and he hadn't had a chance until now. He wavered between delight at seeing him again and that bossy!papa face he was sure he was supposed to wear. Delight mostly won out.
"Benjy! Kissed any Gryffindors lately? You're lucky I like you, 'cause I'm probably supposed to hit your face. I won't, though." You know... for reasons that they were friends. "Going out for Quidditch?"
Brynn grinned a bit bigger as the girl, Sophie as she called herself, returned her smile. AND she thought she had a cool name. "Nice to meet you, Sophie," she responded in turn. "You have a cool name too." She did.. the redhead liked it, and the girl behind the name, already. "Thanks," she added at the girl's welcome, already convinced that Ravenclaw had to be the best house.. most everyone she met seemed super awesome. "Everyone has been so welcoming so far." Like they were really glad she was here, and that made her feel really special and happy to be here.
She had a cool name? Yeah, she supposed. Sophie liked it a lot, at least. "Thanks. I'm glad - we've got a good group. A cool Head of House, good student leaders, and everyone tends to get along really well with each other." Well, there were occasional disputes among members of the house, but for the most part, Sophie thought Ravenclaws as a whole were fairly drama-free with each other.
With the other houses? Perhaps that was a different story.
Familiar face after familiar face entered the common room, and Sophie offered a smile and wave back to Hope, Lily, and anyone else who acknowledged her. The family was all together. It felt like home.

A ball of energy had arrived and, though she couldn't blame the older girl for being excited to be back at Hogwarts, Sophie tried to hide her amusement. But the girl knew her name? That was nice. "That's me. Well, hi, then - it's nice to meet you.... creepy?" She looked to Mo, her eyebrows raised. "Is that your preferred nickname?" And if not, why hadn't the girl introduced herself properly?
Creepy indeed.

'Ahoy'? Sophie giggled. "Hi Benjy." She turned around to look at Mo, not minding if he pulled her hair in the process - what Gryffindor had Benjy been kissing? Did he have a girlfriend? Why would Mo hit him for it? She observed Benjy's reaction to this curiously, though, and was even more interested in if he WAS going to go out for Quidditch or not. "Please?" she encouraged, her expression turned sad and puppy-like.

She wiggled, getting herself comfy on the floor and leaned forward, hugging Mo's gift to her chest. "I have your birthday present, by the way. Right here. Told ya I wouldn't forget. But you don't get it till I can see your reaction and you have hair to braid right now." So she kept it safe on her lap. "Are you saying 'no need to be fancy' because it takes too much time and you're just trying to prove a point," she turned her head to the side so he could see her playful grin, "or 'cause you don't know how to be fancy with it?"

Mo was at the back of the pack, but then he was still trying to shake off the fact that he'd been kissed in the Great Hall. By a Gryffindor! By a Gryffindor THIRD YEAR. It was traumatizing, thanks. He ruffled his hair as he entered the Common Room, obviously spotting Sophie waiting for him. At least she had company, so he didn't need to rush over there.
Because their Head of House was here. The Professor Pretty herself. "Hey, Professor. Have a good summer?" He was all casual non-chalance and charm, really. Everyone should be impressed by how very cool he was at this very moment. Wait, was there fried chicken grease on his shirt? MORTIFYING.
"I need to come talk to you, actually. Um. I have to go now, though, and check on... chickens. And Dora! Dora is allergic to chickens! Just thought you should know!" And Mo made apologetic faces at the female prefect before rushing across the room to where Sophie and Brynn were waiting.
"Hey," he made glum faces at them both as he fussed over the stain on his shirt. It just wasn't... going anywhere. Mo pulled off his shirt and turned it inside out before putting it back on. There. Clean. "Hey..." Again. Peppier this time. "Gimme the brush, Soph. Who's your friend?"
Dora looked about ready to speak when her Quidditch Captain appeared. "Oh, hello Marcus. I was wondering when I'd get to say hello to you." He hadn't come up to the Staff Table and she had been talking mostly to the first years on her visit to the Claw Table. "I did have a nice one, nothing too eventful though." At least not stuff she wanted to discuss with her students.
"How was your's? And talk away." Callie started, wondering what he could need but she wasn't sure Mr. Branxton even heard because he had suddenly become different. Check on the chickens? Merlin that sounded rather urgent, she'd let him go. "Oh okay well you know where to find me when you're ready to talk." She called after the sixth year. He seemed in a panic or else Elwood would have kindly reminded him that chickens weren't on the approved list of pets.

Gwen heard a voice, and turned in surprise toward the familiar accent that she hadn't heard all day. The only adult in the room, and she was American. Gwen thought about going to talk to her, but decided against it. She was speaking to an older student, and what would Gwen say anyway? You're American? Me too. Let's get coffee sometime. No. There was nothing she could say that wouldn't be awkward.
Where was she supposed to go? Maybe she should just wait for Hope to get here. Hope would know where they were supposed to sleep, or at least be brave enough to ask someone.
A new Eagle Elwood had seen sitting quietly at the Feast had arrived in the Common Room and was again not really talking to anyone. Callie smiled at her and made a motion of pointing at the other students as if telling her to join in on the fun of the first night in the Common Room with her housemates.

Oh and another wave. Callie would really have to make it a habit of coming up here. She hadn't done it really at all last term because of her research in Africa keeping her away. The girl got a wave. It was nice to see that Sophie and the others were including her.

Oh...her Puffs were squeaking at Hope.
And there was Amelia, hopefully calmed down from the Feast. No more shouting, yeah?
"Hello Miss Johanson." She said as she walked by and congratulated Miss Miroslava.

So by the time she made it back to the tower, pretty much everyone else had gotten back already, including Professor Elwood, who got a small smile and a wave from the seventeen year old.
The next wave she got was from the seventh year transfer who had been sorted into her House. It was probably really weird for her to be up there with the first years and not know anyone so hopefully the others would include her as well. She didn't worry though, she'd fit in swimmingly. The Head of House was sure of it.
Callie returned with a nice wave too.

Right, she was a prefect now.
Should probably put on that badge.
Blinking a few times to pull herself out of her trance, she focused her hazel-green eyes on the professor. "Evening, Professor." Oh, right the feast. "I was around...." In the castle, which was technically around. "I stayed behind a bit to make sure there were no stragglers, which I'm fairly certain there are not." And if there were then too bad for them. Let this be a lesson to listen to Nigel the first time.
She was taking these prefect responsibilities so well.
"Excellent, thanks for that." Calista said, glad to see the girl had heard her and was reply. She had been staring sort of vaguely when she approached her. "That's mainly why I'm up here myself, that and to check on the Common Room. Make sure the House Elves finished their cleaning. Don't want it to look like it did the term before last." She chuckled, she had hoped that would lighten the mood and allow for her Prefect to converse with her. She didn't know the girl that well yet.
Maybe it would work.
But of course, maybe her allergies were acting up. "Are you feeling okay, were you helping Marcus with his chickens?" She could take her to the Hospital Wing to see Cece if she had to.
"I suppose it is but I dont see why you would... I mean we dont know each other so why do you want to let me have a good summer... if you arent a nice person..." She pondered for a moment, "Though, I guess you are a good person because you wanted me to have a nice summer even without me knowing you..." She shrugged again, "Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies, both sounds good but im not looking forward to Potions and especially not now..." Mel thought about the evil professor and sighed, "What about you?"
"Well, uh..." Emma laughed, tossing back her long brown curls.
"I'd like to think of myself as being a fairly decent person with semi-good morals.." She grinned, taking another bite out of her chocolate. "Mmmmmm..It's been ages since I've had once of these. Seriously."
She smiled again, nodding as the girl continued her ramble of confusion. "Well. I do love all sweets, but these are my absolute favorite." BEAM. Emma thought this girl was a bit... odd.. and yet she couldn't quite place why she felt that way about the girl. Oh well, at least she was being friendly... Sort of.
"Yeah.. I suppose they are concerned.. I just wish that they would be slightly less concerned though.. I mean. I AM thirteen now. That should count for SOMETHING at least, don't you think?" She smiled again, taking another bite yet again. Merlin. Those chocolates were perfect.
She nodded again, grinning at the mention of their slightly insane Potions professor. "Yeah.. she's kind of um... different." Yeah. Different was definitely the keyword.
hope was pulled from her mental musings by a squeak and she looked up to see mika with her pygmy puffs. "hey, mika!" she heard a small squeak from inside her pocket and she pulled out one bouncing purple pygmy puff. Silly thing. Of course he would wake up now. "poppy. I see you've finally decided to wake up. You missed the feast." the pygmy puff just squeaked up at her and made it's way up to her shoulder.
Mika smiled over to Hope as she called over to her. The little blonde was a cute little kid yeah? She had to think that maybe it was because she also had Pygmy Puffs. She did of course chuckle when she heard her talking to Poppy. ”We should let them have a play date in a Kneazel-free zone sometime” she grinned over to the girl.
And well, she did notice a certain Pink Puff bounce and roll and shift his way over to the first year. “That’s Kilo, by the way” she pointed to the jittery puff who was trying to find its way up the girl’s leg. Probably wanted to sit in her hair for a change.

“Well, Creepy is what Mo here calls me I accidentally introduced myself to him as Creepy when I first met him” she said with a smile. “The name’s actually Amelia but almost everyone calls me Mika,” she admitted with a smile.
And then she turned her attention to Professor Elwood. “Hello Professor” she piped up and smiled over to her – maybe awkwardly as she tried to calm herself. She was a nice lady yeah? But she had kind of yelled earlier. “Sorry about the awkward loudness earlier” she muttered over to the Professor and Head of House.

"What we think of ourselves and what we are, are two entirely different things though... We can change how we think about ourselves within seconds but we can hardly change who we are that quickly. That would be ridiculously hard..." She said and looked at the girl. Melek raised an eyebrow, "Do you really mean to say ages? I mean have you not have one since a certain age? Like since maybe age 11? Because in ages means there has to at least be 2 ages... though it could be more than 2 since you didnt specify ages by saying a couple -which means 2- or a few -which means 3 or more- or even a lot -which means like 8 or so- though you could have been figuratively saying ages and using an exaggeration or a hyperbole..." Melek trailed off and started to think about it.
"Okay, you love all sweets but these are your favorite?" She gestured to the chocolate frog. "Then why did you say that all sweets were your favorite? Did you misspeak?" Mel eyed the girl and watched for a few moments. Melek started to munch her own chocolate frog as her mind started to wander again, to think about their conversation which seemed really confusing to her because of how the girl spoke and contradict herself.
"Age isnt a way to determine how to treat a child though... Maturity is more important though age does play a factor..." Melek shrugged, "I guess it should count for something but I am not the one to decide... your parents are..." A sigh escaped the girl's lips. "Have you talked to your parents about this? Maybe if you vent to them, then they might be willing to let you try to be more mature which would lead to being able to go off on your own or whatever you are griping about."
"He." She corrected, "Our potions master is a male... and one that doesnt like the female kind... He is totally trying to get Ravenclaw to lose or just the girl Ravenclaws..." Yep, she is holding a grudge over him and will do anything to annoy the professor.
Jun grinned. That was exactly what he was doing. "I was until, you know, people wanna sit on your legs and spook you out of sleep," Because that's what Charlie totally did. Spooked his sleep from the couch and hopefully he'll have it back for the dorms later. He recieved a poke to his chest so Jun shooed her hand away with his cap. If it wasn't going to be on his head, it might as well be good for something else.
Arching an eyebrow at her, Jun snorted. What was with the lingo now? Raising a finger, he quickly pointed to the ground. "The floor looks mighty comfortable if you ask me. Plus, I would've kindly passed you a pillow but seeing as I'm using it, sucks for you," He wouldn't give up his pillow for Charlie. Jun was here first so he had all rights to it for now.
"Excited to be back? I'm excited summer's over," he said, with a smirk. Ah, Teaser!Jun was back. He hated summer whereas Charlie loved it. Why? Summer was hot and gross.
Sleep? Whoopsie. "I... Sorry, I didn't... realise," she managed, with a small Theblush. But she was around now, and she wanted company. Therefore, Jun needed to stay awake and keep her company. Her book, now on the arm of the sofa, lay forgotten now that she'd noticed a friend. "But.. you wouldn't chose sleep over me, right?"
Even though, well, she totally would. She wouldn't blame him.
"Not even a pillow?" Goodness, there was no way she was moving now. She wriggled around even more, silently making the point that she'd found her place and no matter what he did she wasn't moving. Hmft. And if he didn't like that... Then she would probably move, and he probably knew that, but EVEN SO.... Hmft.
At that, she did dig out the cushion that was underneath Juns feet and throw it onto his chest. "How can you NOT like summer?" Charlie was pouting now. "It's warm and sunny and you can wear shorts and tan. And travel and do all exciting things." Her summer, at least, had been awesome.

Kamayka sat at one of the small tables at the edge of the common room. Her entire set of schoolbooks lay stacked in two neat stacks in front of her side by side. The right stack, which was by far larger, varied from it's neighbor by the innumerable, multicolored sticky notes protruding from the sides, suggesting they had already been thoroughly analyzed and dissected, while the books on the left, which only numbered two, seemed not to have been yet been opened. All of them still appeared new and well cared for.
However, one book did appear to have the beginnings of some wear: A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration by Emeric Switch, which was now clutched in the eager hands of the young first year. Not only were paper stickies marking the long edge of the book, but also the top and bottom, and several had minuscule words scrawled onto them.
Kamayka was making her way through her school books before term had even really started, and even though all of the books were wonderfully written and a pure joy to read, this transfiguration book was by far the most interesting. So intreguing, in fact, that it had kept her from reading through all of her books before rereading it several times.
She looked up from her self-indulged studies and glanced around the common room. She hadn't made any friends yet, probably because she was terribly shy and nervous. In her visual sweep of the area, her eyes stopped to rest on a rather pretty girl. She didn't look too much older than Kamayka, and only a bit taller. With long dark, brown hair swept back into an elegant ponytail, she commanded a certain grace. However the persistent expression on her face, although not entirely intimidating, kept the timid girl from making an attempt to introduce herself.
Sophie, Mo-Marcus, Amelia, Lily, Benjy.. in that order ;)

Brynn looked back up as her little group slowly expanded the more people came into the common room. It was a pretty neat thing that all the Ravenclaws seemed to know each other and all got on so well like a big happy family. Or at least that was how it looked to the small redhead. And Sophie just basically confirmed that. "Good to know," she nodded. "I bet everyone wishes they were in Ravenclaw," she mused aloud. Because really, not every house could have people that got along so well with a cool Head of House. This was obviously the coolest one.
She tentatively turned her eyes on the now fully-clothed teenage boy as he sat behind Sophie and did her hair. "Cool," she said quietly to herself. He was a hair-braider? Err.. no? She nodded obediently as he told her not to spread that secret around, then made a zipping motion with her fingers over her lips. "My lips are sealed Mo-Marcus. I won't tell anyone." Gosh. Brynn was slightly in awe. A teenage boy, not only that but the Quidditch Captain, was entrusting her with his hair-braiding secret. If that wasn't proof that she was in with the in-crowd, she didn't know what was. But she shook her head to his next question. No, she didn't play.
She watched the teenage girl she met at the feast come over to them, unable to remember her name. But that might have been because she gave her a couple options and there had been a lot of people she had met. But then Mo-Marcus called her.. Creepy? No, she was pretty sure that hadn't been one of her options, but she guessed it was one of those cool nicknames given by members of a club.. or house as it were. Creepy got a smile form Brynn.
And another forgotten name from the feast, she noticed the older girl with the same red hair as her and Brynn returned her wave. The girl seemed to be contemplating something as she looked out the window but maybe she'd come over to talk later. Brynn wasn't all that ready to get up from her comfortable seat just yet and her eyes soon followed a hopping toad. Did Bart get sorted into Ravenclaw after all? She looked around hopefully, then noticed that the small animal belonged to a different boy. She eyed him curiously for a moment. "You hunt toads? My friend Bart and I did that a lot last summer.. well frog hunting." She knew there was something of a difference. "Found a lot a salamanders though."

This was a rare moment for Adrienne- she was doing nothing. Well, not nothing, not really, but it would appear so to the casual observer. Her hands were clasped and her legs were crossed and she was looking around the common room and trying to decide if there was anyone in here it was worth approaching to try talking to. She wanted allies this year, more people than just Tora who were on her side. Against what, she had yet to decide, but she was going to be ready when whatever was pitted against her- be it excessive amounts of homework, students with a grudge, or a dragon - showed its face.
She took note of every person her eyes lit on, trying to catalogue them under potential friend, potential enemy, or inconsequential. There was a blonde fifth year she thought she'd seen before - Charlotte? - Mika, of course, who she knew of but had never spoken to. Someone else in her year, never particularly stood out, and... was that their Head of House? Yeah, it was, just sitting around in the common room and chatting with the students. Hm. Adrienne hadn't liked her last year, and she still didn't.
She paused in her thoughts when she had the weird feeling that she was being looked at, and when she turned around it became clear that yes, she'd been right. A girl - younger than her, probably a firstie - was glancing at her from behind way too much red curly hair. Adrienne noticed the book, too; A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration. Yep, almost definitely a first year, and one who seemed to be reading with relish one of the drier books that their year was assigned to. At least, in Adrienne's opinion. At first, she was just going to ignore her, but when she caught another look at her in the squishy blue armchair she was resting in from the girl sitting at one of the many round tables, she figured she may as well talk to the kid, having gone through just about everyone else in the room and decided on not approaching any of them.
"Hey, you!" she said, loud enough that she could be heard at the slight distance between them, but not disrupting the other conversations going on. "Yeah, you, ginger. How's the book?"

The girl across the room had looked up and looked at her and Kam had immediately buried her nose back in the book: a futile attempt to hide away. However, she did not have the chance to be entirely swallowed by the book before she heard the dark-haired girl call out. She knew instantly that she was referring to Kamayka as well, due to her what sounded slightly teasing comment about her hair.
Knowing she was unable to hide, the first year peeped out from behind her book, attempted a smile, although she knew the look on her face would look little more than a shivering tomato, and said, "I think it's fairly fascinating," or at least she tried to call back. Unfortunately for Kam however, all that reverberated from her mouth, dry with panic, was a little squeak.
Emma nodded slowly. "Yeah, I do suppose that's true..." This girl sure had a lot to say, it was nice though, She enjoyed being able to have debates and conversations that allowed her to do less of the talking sometimes.
"Well, I mean.. I haven't had a chocolate frog since last February, I think.. so it's been aaaages for me in a sense. Sweets are my favorite food group.. But out of all the sweets, these frogs are at the top of the list of favorites." There. Hopefully that would clear things up a bit for the confused 'claw.
She shook her head, smiling warily at the girl. "Yes, I've tried venting to them and expressing my feelings on the subject. They never listen though. Ever. I could be of age and they probably wouldn't listen then either.. They really are pretty stuck in their ways."
"Oh yes. Sorry. He. My apologies. My brain has been a bit fried lately.." Emma sighed, taking another bite out of her nomtastic chocolate frog.
Crunch crunch crunch.
Kissed any Gryffindors? A blush came to Benjy's cheeks as his lips curled upwards into a sheepish smile. "Not recently, no," he said, glancing distractedly down at Flipper in his hand. That had been over a year ago now, and though he certainly wasn't against it happening again, he didn't know it was public knowledge. The sixth year eyed the Captain curiously. How did he know about it? "Probably supposed to? Says who, exactly?" Because he'd spoken to the subject of that kiss on the train, and it'd all seemed fine and dandy to him.
Curious, curious indeed.
As for quidditch? Benjy grinned. "I was planning to. I mean, it'd be a waste of a new broom if I didn't, wouldn't it?" Plus, it might give Mo one more reason not to punch him on behalf of whoever wanted him to.

"Please?" she encouraged, her expression turned sad and puppy-like.
Nothing was wrong. Which... was why his hair was all messed up and he was acting totally zany. Okay. Did their Head of House really have that kind of effect on him? "Plait away." She wiggled, getting herself comfy on the floor and leaned forward, hugging Mo's gift to her chest.
"You don't need to look at me like that," Benjy said, punching Sophie playfully on the arm. "I've already said I'm going to, haven't I?" He lightly shook his head. "And anyway, I had an awesome time up on the air with you last year. Course I wanna do it all again."
And that was when Benjy realised quite what Mo was doing with Sophie's hair. "Didn't know you were a hair expert," he said, eyes twinkling. "Could've told me last year, and stopped mine getting so mangled." CoughCough. Also, did they notice it was gone this year? The knotted, shaggy mess? Still fairly long, but back to being shiny again. Mhmm.

Hyper boy? Maybe, though he didn't have his skateboard on him right now. Hyper toad more like. "Hope you had a good summer," he said with a nod, before waving at some of the other students that had entered the common room in the meantime.

He nodded down to Flipper, who was now flicking his tongue out lazily as Benjy rubbed the toad's back with his thumbs. "I swear this fella is the wrong species, the speed he goes." Though at least the two of them got on nowadays. "Bet it's fun to hunting for them properly though, out in the wild. You find any real interesting ones?" Salamanders or frogs or toads, that was.

"Hm, I can highly consider it," And he would. He's done it plenty of times to other people. Sometimes Jun just wanted to sleep but no one really let him. Like Charlie. He couldn't really sleep with someone sitting on him. Who could anyway? "As if you wouldn't pick sleep over people?" Common sense, Charlie. But at least he'll try to stay awake for her.
Jun shook his head. "Nope. Would you give up a comfortable pillow for someone else?" He was sure she'd say no. But sometimes Charlie was just too nice and all that jazz. So she probably would. That's why his mum yelled at him a lot. Jun had no manners. It was actually patience he was lacking. But only for certain people because they were just dumb.
Jun laughed when he recieved the cushion to his chest. He was only being honest. "Dunno. Bergen is really humid during the summers since we live near a beach," Which he didn't like either. Bodies of water were NOT Jun's friend at all. "Tan? This is the darkest I'm going to get!" He pointed to his face, taking the cushion on putting it under his head, along with the other one. Now he was more adjust to look at Charlie while they talked. "I can travel during the winter. Like for Christmas break this term," Which he was really excited for.

Adrienne had expected some amount of who, me? from the girl- after all, who didn't pretend they hadn't been looking at someone when they were caught? But she certainly didn't expect her to look that terrified. Was Adrienne really that intimidating? If so, she was certainly glad of it, because she'd hardly managed to elicit fear from anyone all summer, and it was a welcome relief to know she was still above the bottom of the pecking order back at Hogwarts.
And then the girl squeaked. That was definitely unexpected, and somewhat worrying. Could she not talk or something? Had some charm been cast on her to keep her from doing so; did she need someone to find the countercurse? Because if so, it definitely wasn't Adrienne.
"Hey, you okay?" she asked, forcing herself to stand up. The chair had been so comfy, but it was still somewhat of a relief to feel cool air on the backs of her legs and her back as she unstuck herself from her sitting position. Adrienne walked over to the girl, glancing down to read a few lines of text from her book before stopping next to her. With the younger redhead sitting down, it really did make Adrienne feel intimidating, though she doubted she'd be much taller when they were actually both standing up.

The girl actually stood up, and her responding question even seemed to possess a hint of concern. Although the light-skinned girl walking striding toward her would have normally seemed unbelievably terrifying to Kamayka, these other factors seemed to distill the per-usual intimidation most previous on-comers had instilled on her. Or perhaps it was because Kamayka was so desperate to make a friend.
With an instinctual movement, and rather contradictory to what her brain regularly screamed at her, Kam calmly set down her book, gently cleared her throat, and said "Yes, sorry. My voice escaped me for a moment there." She was surprised at her own steadiness, even though her vocalization still possessed some quavering.

Well the girl wasn't convulsing on the floor, so it seemed unlikely that she was in any serious danger, for now at least. Adrienne nodded and smiled at the redhead. First years were weird, and she could have sworn she wasn't this shy when she was one. Then again, she wasn't exactly a particularly normal first year, as the summer before she'd managed to both tame a seagull and get into a fistfight with a thirteen-year-old.
"Riiiight," she said, giving another sceptical look but letting it drop. "So," Adrienne repeated her earlier question, "How's the book? Personally, I hated that one." Hate may have been a bit too strong of a word to describe her distaste, but honestly, it was just incredibly boring. It was nearly all theory, which didn't interest her at all, and the parts that did contain actual useful information went on and on about examples and situations in which they could be used instead of just getting to the point. Exactly the kind of wordy prose that she couldn't stand.
Emma nodded slowly. "Yeah, I do suppose that's true..." This girl sure had a lot to say, it was nice though, She enjoyed being able to have debates and conversations that allowed her to do less of the talking sometimes.

Crunch crunch crunch.
Melek shrugged and looked at her badly bitten nails, not sure what else to say to the Ravenclaw girl. She pulled her feet from out under her and pulled her legs to her chest, adjusting to a comfortable spot.
"That hasnt even been a year... That isnt really ages... I mean it is months but I would hardly call it ages..." She sighed and closed her eyes, laying her chin on her knees. Melek was getting a headache. "Sweets arent really food but they are a food group... I dont get it... I mean... other than we need some sweets for our systems to work properly..." A sigh escaped, "But they are yummy and good."
She shrugged and opened an eye, looking at the girl, "I dont know what else to tell you... if your parents had heard your complaints and have ignore them, I dont know what the next step would be..." Her eyes closed and she stayed there still.
"It isnt good for your brain to be fried... I mean, I am assuming you mean figuratively since if you mean literally you would be dead and thus you would not be talking to me... but school had just started... and we really need to read the cup, I heard..." Melek shrugged and sighed, "Though the potions master is not a good one... he is houseist!" A sigh escaped and she grumbled.

Emma wasn't really sure if the girl liked her, disliked her, or was really just into having debates. She watched as the girl glanced down lazily at her hands. Hmm... "Well, yeah.. you do have a point there, Melek. About it being ages and sweets being a food group but not a 'food'.. that certainly can get confusing." She nodded, taking note of the fact the girl was looking a bit.. off.
"Are you okay? You don't look so good.."
"He's houseist? How so? I have yet to have a negative interaction with any of the professors this term, and he seems really nice..." Emma added, taking her last bite of chocolate frog. "Thank you so much for the chocolate frog, by the way. It was super good."
"'Course they want Ravenclaw," Benjy enthused. "We have the best parties." Perhaps excluding that 'morale' one last term. "And by far the best view from the Common Room."

"There's parties here?" Brynn tilted her head up curiously at the older, teenage boy. Yes, teenage... she could hardly believe these older, cool kids wanted to talk to her, which in turn made her feel cool as well. And obviously the parties would be the same. This boy pretty much confirmed that. And best view.. Brown eyes wandered to the tall windows catching a glimpse of the sky before she turning back to the boy.
She looked down at the toad in the boy's hand as he spoke of him. "Wrong species?" She wasn't sure what he meant by that, though she did figure he must escape frequently. Bart's toad did that too, didn't he? She offered a shrug at the question. "Found some really neat colored salamanders one day before school started. And spotted ones too. But they're pretty slippery." She pulled her lips to the side of her face a little at this revelation. They were hard to hold on to and always escaped her grasp. So no new pet salamander for her. Not that her mother would be letting her keep any..

"I'm almost upset you feel the need to ask that," Benjy replied with a shake of the head. "Give us an excuse, and we'll have a party. The best ones are usually associated with Quidditch though." He shot a quick glance at Mo. "And talking of excuses...it's my birthday in a couple of weeks. Coming of age and all that. It'd be nice to do something fun to celebrate." Nothing too much, but it wasn't every year one turned 17.
Benjy gave Flipper another treat, and nodded with a chuckle. "In the sense he's so fast-paced. I dunno, I guess most toads just seem...lazy. This one isn't. Mind like a cheetah or something." And Houdini's ability to escape. "Nice.," Benjy replied at her explanation. "You're welcome to practice holding amphibians with Flipper if you like. If you can keep hold of him for any length of time, even slippery salamanders will be a doss." He grinned down at his toad, before holding his hand out friendlily to the girl. "I'm Benjamin, by the way. Most peeps round here call me Benjy."
Caelen was looking around the common room for someone to help her with her potions homework. Which was breathing fire. No, really. The homework from her other school was never as interesting as this! Mostly because her other school was run by her aunt and her mom.
Anyway, she had to go breathe fire on someone. And she found her target. Wait, bad phrasing. Her helper. Another Ravenclaw with books about on a study table, sitting alone. Perfect! Well not perfect because the girl was alone, but perfect because she wasn't talking to anyone and therefore wouldn't be rushing to get back to conversation.
As Caelen walked up to the girl, she noticed that one of the books had wear and tear. Perhaps her favorite? And she also put sticky notes in her books! Finally, someone who understood! Pulling up a chair, Caelen smiled brightly as she looked at her next helper.
"Hi, I'm Caelen. My potions homework is to breathe fire on you- it's not going to hurt!" She stopped and redirected her comment, figuring that sounding like a dragon wasn't going to win her brownie points. "It's supposed to tickle. Anyway, can you please help me?"
Caelen looked at the girl, smiling her please-help-me-I'm-trying-to-be-a-good-egg smile. She had the potion in her hand, ready to go. Pleeeaaaasse?

Wellp, it was her turn to patrol this part of the castle. Not that the Headmistress by any means had to have a reason to visit the Ravenclaw Common Room, but well. She wanted to. So there.
The redhead waltzed in finally, thanks to that STUPID puzzle at the door and looked around. Good, good, Claws, Claws... doing Claw things... homework and things...
She walked around the circumference of the room, admiring how ROUND it was. So circular! And so many windows! "Lovely view..." the Headmistress murmured to herself. Were those her greenhouses out there? Gorgeous! She smiled to herself and continued walking, heading toward a cluster of chairs near the fireplace.
The redhead stopped just behind one big, plushy navy one, and tsk'd to herself. "This won't do." She gave it a small push, then looked around to see if anyone was watching, and gave it a bigger nudge. Nudge. Nudgenudge. This place needed serious redecorating. One would think Calista would have feng shui'd her own House better!
