He was here. He didn't want to be, could he say that for the record. His mother was forcing him here and he just hated it, because this class was so pointless and he was never using it ever. No one ever really saw the future or could predict things it was just for show and people that said they did lied. His dad told him that.


So when he walked into the class he was still rubbing his sore head from hitting it on the floor in the corridor not that long ago. Looking over to the professor he gave a nod, "Hi" then he headed up to find a seat. That's when he noticed the board. "Will our books for this d.. ah class work? I don't like books so I avoid the library when I can." Which meant he only had class books in his room and no way he would make and extra trip over to the library just to find some random book for this class.

Divination was definitely not one of Toby's best subjects. He was sceptical about the art but interested in it all the same. Did you have to be gifted in a subject in order to take it? Tobias certainly hoped not. And if he wanted an OWL in every subject, then he was absolutely ready to give his all in even his worst subjects. So here he was.

The Hufflepuff entered the classroom and just headed for a desk at random, no thinking required, and took a seat. He gave the professor a cheery wave but otherwise said nothing as he took his parchment and quill and ink out of his bag, as well as the textbook and the extra book they were required to bring. He'd chosen, unsurprisingly, Quidditch Through the Ages by Kennilworthy Whisp. It was his favourite book, and the one closest to hand that morning when he'd suddenly remembered the extra instruction.

Mentally checking that he had everything he needed (not that he'd be able to fix it now if he hadn't), Tobias just sat and waited for class to start, his attention drifting already so that he was staring out of the window, and fingers tapping absentmindedly on the desk.

Ah time for Divination. Kace always had fun in this class. As he made his way to the room, he noticed the professor was sitting there already. He greeted her with a wave and said, "Hello Professor! Nice day we are having huh? How was your summer?"

Then he went to find his seat, as he looked up at the board, he noticed he needed to bring a book. He smirked because he always brought a book with him to read. He was kind of a nerd like that. He got out his muggle book he loved called, The Polar Express. He remembered his grandma reading it to him and he fell in love with the storyline. He hoped no one would judge him.

Lux had never attended a class that was ascended to through a trap door, so this was all new to her. As soon as she stepped inside, she looked around curiously before finding an empty seat and sitting down. Noticing the Professor, she smiled at her. "Hello, Professor. I'm Lux."

Sander peaked over at the cover of the book Tessa had pulled out and grinned. Why was he not surprised? Knowing how much Tessa loved the sport, for her to pick this book would have been the most logical choice.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he leaned over to whisper to Tessa before looking down at the book he had brought with him.Lord of the Rings.

Anna walked in with a nervous smile, clutching her books to her chest. She looked up at their professor and gave a small nod, "Hello, professor..." After she walked past her professor she picked a desk and sat down slowly, looking down at her books not sure what she was going to be doing in this class... The idea of knowing the future kinda worried her... Even if it was just something that could be. She glanced around nervously and gave a nod to a few other kids she recognized before going back to looking down at her books.

She gently grabbed the old worn out book that she had from her parents, Fallen by Lauren Kate. She actually did really like it, so maybe this would have some point to it... Though just in case she did have it wrong about bringing a book, she'd grabbed her Divination too.

His parents would have to admit that he was taking their words to heart and trying new things this time around. Stepping out from his comfort zone. With his sachel slung over his shoulder, Ben made his way up to the divination tower, finally coming up to the ladder that led to the classroom.

Trapdoor? Interesting.

Tentatively he climbed up the ladder and found himself in the divination classroom. Whew...that was a trip. Certainly seemed worse than the trek up to Gryffindor house each night and day. Shaking it off, Ben walked further in and looked around to take in his surroundings. "Hello Professor," he greeted politely as he spotted the woman, the boy heading to an empty seat.

Emma opened the trapdoor, grinning as she made her way up the ladder and into the classroom. Sure - this class wasn't particularly her style, but she was going to make the best of it. "Good Morning, Professor." She greeted the woman, smiling over at her before taking her seat and laying out her favorite book, as per the professors request. Now, it was just time to play the waiting game before class began.

Sigh....

Divination classroom was on the seventh floor. That could have been a drag to the third year, if only she were daft enough to climb all of those stairs in one go. No. Beverly had picked up an apple and granola bar from the Great Hall then made her trek up the stairs at her own pace. By the time she reached the last step she'd finished her snacks and was leafing through the book she'd brought with her.

Said book was one of her favorite. It had interesting facts and cool diagrams. She was bound to get distracted by it during class, she knew it, but she was also curious as to why the professor had asked them to bring it. What did favorite books have to do with Divination? Did the book tell about their fate? Because if it did then...that would be awesome.

Beverly studied the trapdoor before climbing up. Why was there a trapdoor? Odd school this was. It beats home tutoring, though. Once inside the classroom her eyes roamed the place, pausing on the blonde woman at a desk...and her words were caught in her throat. Again.

A greeting nod. Yep, that's what Bev ended up doing, then proceeded to sit at an empty seat. This was going to be interesting. Divination was something her family rarely touched compared to potions, runes and herbology.

Kevin was out of breath as he reached the trap door to the Divination tower. Yes, he had come from the Gryffindor Common Room which was basically on the same level but the young boy was out of breath. Not to mention that his legs hurt as he climbed up the stairs. Maybe his parents were right and he should do some exercising.

Entering the classroom with a hand held against his back, he stretched out his body and then smiled when his back wasn't hurting anymore. "Yo Professor" he greeted the Professor and sat down on one of the chairs. He opened his back and placed the book he had gotten from the library about color changes on the table because that was the only book he had ahem

Bri was curious about Divination, so she made sure to make it to the class. The young Hufflepuff arrived early-ish. She smiled at the Professor. "Good Morning! How are you?" She said cheerily as she sat down, and pulled out the necessary items for the class.

Picking a book to bring to class had been really hard. Ella spent a lot of time going through her trunk and debating. She'd almost brought along a non-fiction on elephants but at the last second changed her mind. Tuck Everlasting. That was one she'd loved since she was small and the one she'd tucked under her arm before leaving the dorm. She figured choosing a book with sentimental value would be a good thing.

After making the exhausting trip to the tower, the blonde made her way into the classroom through the trap door and stood up, surprised by just how slow she'd been moving today. What on earth was that about? She was in good shape so there was no excuse. Weird. Shaking that off, the eighteen year old spotted the professor and smiled. "Hello, Professor! Good to be back."

Smiles for friends and an especially wide one for the boyfriend while Ella hunted for a seat. She settled on one in the back by Theoman, having not talked to him a lot so far this term. "Hey." Then setting the worn copy of her book down, the badger waited for class to begin.

So she didn't exactly have Antony and Cleopatra at school with her, and she doubted the library at Hogwarts had that sitting around anywhere. It would have been nice to bring the piece she had done her SNAC assignment on, but Demelza had a Plan B. F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby was another of her favourite pieces of literature. Although it wasn't a play written by the great William Shakespeare, the Great American novel had quite a juicy story. Plus it had some rather dramatic characters. Now that was something Demelza could appreciate.

After climbing through the trapdoor, Demelza loudly click-clacked her way into through the room to a desk near the front. Since this class was a NOBLE ART, she wanted to hear every word this professor had to say. But what did books have to do with telling the future? Regardless, Demelza didn't need to have her future told to her. She knew that she would be on the stage, travelling the world with her dear Landon.

"Hello, professor," she said, not bothering to state her name as she took her seat. If the professor didn't know her name after that amazing assignment she turned in – Oh, what was she thinking? Of course the professor would know her name. She was going to be famous, after all! Instead Demelza took out everything she would need to take notes and placed her book in the top corner of her desk. After doing so, she smiled up at Professor Elwood and waited for the class to begin.

So they were suppose to took a book to divination class today, that was know problem all for this Slyhtherin. Considering that he only owned one book, Quidditch through the ages He hoped that was okay. He didn't read much outside of what he needed to for classes. If not oh well. He tossed it in his bag before leaving his dorm all the way down in the dungeon.

It was always such a task in it's self just to get to any lessons above the third floor from the Slytherin common room. This was way up there.

When he finally made it up to the seventh floor he climbed up in through the trapped door "Hello Professor Elwood, How are you?" He smiled and headed on over to a seat by a group of a few sixth year seventh year people. He gave them at all grins and nods. Of course Alec and the rest of the guys got fist bumps. Dude

It didn't really make sense to Mo that the Divination Tower had a trap door and a ladder. He always had to juggle his bag on the way up, and today Mo also had a book he didn't want to get bent carefully wrapped in his cloak. And an apple.

"Hey, Professor," Mo dropped the apple on the corner of her desk and grinned broadly before heading toward a seat. "To keep the Healer away."

Gareth was unsure about this class as he climbed the stairs and made his way through the trapdoor into the classroom. What kind of a classroom was that anyway? And Divination...? Well...he was unsure so he did not know what he thought about this class. Maybe he was going to like it. He hoped he would like it as otherwise it would be really really boring. He tried not to trip this time as he made his way towards one of the empty desks. Student people...maybe he could socialize a bit any make friends?

Well...maybe.

He gave the professor a small, hesitant smile "Um, good...morning". He knew soon she would find a reason to hate him. Teachers mostly hated him. Especially those who worked in a school that was new to him where he hardly had any friends. He did not have any friends, did he? Only maybe Genie and he was not sure of her ideas about him. Eh...

Hiding the book he had brought "It's Raining Pig and Noodles by Jack Prelutsky" from any eyes that might be gazing towards it, he sat down and stared at the book on his lap.

Divination--another thorn in Sophie's side. Nope, she just wasn't a fan of the subject. She never had been and never would be. Nevertheless, she tried not to let this show on her face as she adjusted her bag for the trip up to the classroom. Making her way into the room, she passed a quick grin to the professor before taking a seat. Yes, she'd brought a book along. It was in her bag with all her other things.

Lucas LOVED the Divination classroom. It had a trapdoor. Like a pirate ship. Or an attic. Both of which were cool. He gave Professor Elwood a sheepish smile.
"Hi Professor," the Gryffindor greeted and slipped into his seat, digging out The Hungry Caterpillar from the depths of his bag. Was this embarrassing? Yeah. Uh. Definitely, yeah.

Alex heard another familiar voice saying hello. She looked up to see Tessa asking to sit with her and Alex. "Of course you can, Alex said. "How are you?"

Tessa asked if they were ready for class and Alex smiled. "I'm not sure I'm ready, but I'll give it my best shot.". Alex had always had a kind of ambivalent feeling about Divination. She didn't love it, but she didn't hate it either. As Tessa and sander began to talk, Alex went back to reading her book.

Hmmmm. Divination. Marigold had enjoyed it last year, but she was a bit tired from thinking about her grandpa and not sleeping much. She greeted the professor cheerily just the same though.

"Hi Professor! How are you?"

And now sitting next to Kace happened.

Adi was waiting for Hannah to either rudely or politely greet him when he caught sight of Tessa waving and grinning at him. He returned both the grin and wave wondering of she was any good at Divination in case he needed help.
Oh look! It was Benny taking a seat not far from him. Adi waved to his quiet Gryffindor friend.

Adi looked back at Hannah. Hey! He got a polite greeting from her! Seems like they were going to be friends after all. She looked preoccupied with thoughts though. Not wanting to get into another argument with the Snake- at least not in class- he occupied the time by reading random pages from the book he had brought.

Climbing up the trapdoor was always a questionable moment for Lily. She didn't mind heights, especially since she lived in the Ravenclaw tower and played Quidditch, but rather, she didn't like the idea that someone could fall down the trapdoor onto her as she climbed up. So when the seventh year got to the bottom of the ladder, she looked up before climbing up as fast as she could. Once into the room, the claw readjusted her backpack before walking into the classroom part of the tower.

"Hello Professor Elwood." Lily said, greeting her head of house with a nod before going to take her seat and pull her book out of her bag. Hogwarts, A History had been the claw's favorite book since her first term at the school, so it only felt right to bring it to the class.

Huffing and puffing, Leah climbed up the ladder to the Divination classroom in a hurry and realized that she was not late. though quite a lot of people were already seated. She had been in the Grounds before she rushed up the castle, and everyone knows what a distance it is.

"Hello, Professor. Nice room." Leah complimented, sitting down next to a boy (Kevin) she met during Flying lesson. "Hey. Mind if I sit here?" She said, nudging him. She took out Tales of Beedle the Bard from her bag, calming down a bit. She never read that book anymore, but since she was told to bring a book, it was the first one that popped up in her mind. "Color changes? That seems... fascinating."

Obviously, Alice wanted to go sit by him. And Alec. But she chose a seat behind them instead, because there was an empty one by it for a certain boyfriend of hers, to whom she'd promised her presence in this class.

Didn't mean she couldn't bother her favorite puffers while she waited for him, though. The seventh year industriously attempted to get their attention with little scraps of parchment balled up and thrown at their heads, probably to no avail. It served as better entertainment than reading the Muggle novel she'd brought along with her anyway. Alice had gone through that thing far too many times.

Schuyler loved when the professors left the windows open. At this time of year, that is. It gave the classroom a crisp, invigorating feel to it and it probably kept some students from getting that cozy warmth that sometimes segued into sleep. Not that Elwood's class was boring.

Because it wasn't.

After climbing up the trap door and noting the new look to the room, Schuyler made her way over to one of the seats. She had her book, yes. It was a collection of Walt Whitman poems because she liked novels all right occasionally, but if she was going to read for pleasure then she preferred poems. They were shorter and so she could finish reading them in one sitting, which pleased her greatly. Art with words, really. Can't go wrong with Walty boy, either. Eloquent and relatable. And the imagery.

Lovely.

Anyway. She didn't think herself to be some poet fanatic, she just liked the way they made her think and feel.

So, what would this book lesson be about then, hmm? Schuyler watched their professor and absently toyed with her stud earring.
