However, she pushed those negative thoughts aside and practiced the spell aloud.

"Lignum Navicula," she murmured, pulling out her wand. She took a deep breath, getting rid of all other thoughts and focusing on how the boat would look after the spell had been cast. THat image firmly in her mind, she reached out with her wand and firmly tapped the wood while saying the spell: "Lignum Navicula!" It snapped into the shape of a boat instantly, and she couldn't help but grin.

She looked over at Sander as she heard his words. "Congratulations, Sander!" she said, bringing her boat over to where he was. "May I see?" she asked, cradling her boat in her arms. She couldn't wait to put them in the lake. "Do you think we're ready to take them to the water? Or would you like to practice again?" she asked, looking down at her boat. She was feeling pretty confident, but a little practice never hurt.

Sander grinned back at Tessa, "Hey congratulations yourself. Here's what I made, " he held up the boat to show Tessa. When he looked at Tessa's, his eyes opened wide in surprise.

"That is really a nice looking boat. Now I'm embarrassed that I showed you mine. Yours looks more likely to float than mine will. Do you mind if I have another go at making mine? Right now my boat looks a little girly. I want a nice masculine boat." he quickly hid his boat under his arm. "I'll be right back, " he told her and quickly turned around.

He placed the boat on the grass, tapped it with his wand and reverted it back into a piece of wood. Then he first picked out an image in his mind. An image of a more masculine looking boat. One that a Norse viking would be proud to be sailing in. He sorted through the images in his mind until he settled on one.

Smiling to himself, he held that image in his mind. He studied every curve, every angle of the design. He closed his eyes, his face scrunched up, deep in concentration, his brow furrowed. When he had every detail of that boat clearly in his mind, Sander opened his eyes, tapped the piece of wood with his wand and said, "Lignum Navicula!" loudly and with determination.

He watched with abated breath as the piece of wood, curled, and bowed and deepened in the middle until it formed the shape of the boat he had envisioned in his mind.

"Yes this one looks more sea worthy." Sander got to his feet before picking up his boat and showing it to Tessa. "I know we can place our boats on the water and see whether they sink or not, but why don't we test in a more interesting way? Any suggestions?" Sander asked Tessa. She was the creative one. He knew that she would come up with an enjoyable way to test out the sturdiness of their boats.
