Back from gone, the Maize Maze had been one of the favorite things at Hogwarts back in the days. The Groundskeeper had looked up some of the school Grounds history and decided to bring it back again. The name says it all doesn't it? A maze in the middle of a corn field! Can you find your way out?

Wade was just staring out at the corn field, it was like those farms. He had thought about having one someday when he's all settled, maybe grow some cucumbers for pickles and then-"Whoa, there." He literally was knocked out of his own thoughts.
Merely blinking, since it only moved his taller stature slightly. He looked around to see a red-robed girl, "No problem." He knew it was only an accident and things like bumping into people were common here, "you okay?" Last thing he wanted was to have somehow hurt a girl.

"I see.. "Yep. Wade merely blinked back the girl, who he didn't even know yet. He glanced back at the maze, since he still sort of wanted to check it out properly. Well, it was still a nice day and he had the time, so he looked back at her before asking, "So, what's your name? I'm Wade." It was a good thing to Wade getting to know more people.

After settling in to his new house without his best friend and getting to know his fellow Hufflepuffs not Abbi, Donny decided it was time to explore the grounds, so after walking along the lake and running as faaaaaaaaaaaar as his body would let him he ended up at the maze.
He beamed up at the maze before sitting down to catch his breath, if you wanted to explore you needed to breathe! Everything was more fun at Hogwarts! The only other maze he'd ever been to was one back in Ireland, but that one had been tiny compared to how big this one seemed.
Exploring. Abbi had lately done lots and lots of that. Which was of course because she wanted to found out as much as she could. She wanted to know what were going to be awesome chill spots and what places she could get monster information from. The whole place was important to explore and therefor Miss Campbell did not want to miss neither a nook nor cranny of Hoggywarts.
With some comfy explorer boots on Abigail made her way towards the grounds. She'd already been to the lake so she ticked that off her mental list and moved along. Not too far away she spotted plenty and plenty of corn with a figure nearby.
Looked INTERESTING and very investigating-like.
At a hast pace she went on until she reached the corn and the boy near by. She walked up to the boy took a look and SQUEALED when she saw whom it was. "DONNNNY DONNY DONNNY!" At once she wrapped her arms around him. He was the only boy she'd hug because she KNEW for a fact he didn't have cooties. Best friendie was awesome! Okay?
"Yeah, that's a good point. They could easily cheat, leave the maze and be done with it. Unless there's some sort of magic that stops people from disapparating out of the maze. That'd make things more interesting." Tag said, agreeing with her point.
"They could walk backwards."He suggested. And then, ever so suddenly, Tag turned around so that his back was towards Sarah, and placing his left hand on the maze, began to walk backwards. With some difficulty though. Trying to keep the same pace with Sarah, tripping slightly, he nodded at her. Wow. Sarah really knew why she wasn't doing the subjects she didn't want to further herself in. Tag's main reason was that he just got too confused too easily.
"I feel like if I do more than five subjects/owls, then it'd just be too much for me to handle, you know? But, you've really got everything in order." He said as he listened to her some more. [B]I'm half and half, but I like using the muggle way better. And, it seemed like her attending CoMC had helped her out. Unfortunately Tag had not gone to that particular lesson. "A calf? Whoa. Did it take long?"
And so Sarah decided for them to take a right, and again, with some difficulty, still walking backwards, Tag made an awkward right turn. Shaking his head at the potato thing Tag answered Sarah, "Errr... well I like a lot of foods. But my top three dishes are anything pasta, pizza and macaroni and cheese."
Now they came to another section and Tag pointed towards the left and quickly ran over to the opposite side. "Left!" He called out, in case Sarah hadn't realized.
So he understood her logic... great. Those people who would disapparate out would probably be snakes.
Walk backwards. "I guess. that is really thinking out of the box." she said with a smile. This boy was something else.
"That is clever of you. People say that I spread myself too thin.. I like doing it all. I think it is great to be more focused. Beside, school marks have little impact on the future" At least that was what she told herself when she got too stressed
"Well, my mother is a muggleborn, my father a pure blood and we are close to both sides of teh family. Besides I went to a muggle primary school. I think its a very useful thing to have." she said.
"It was so exciting, I was not looking at the clock, all my attention was on the cow. I named it Buttercup." Sarah said, and out of the corner of her eye she saw Tag make a very funny turn. She tried not to laugh.
"You like food? Then you are a really lion. I think the hat has that in mind during the sorting.. You have to love food to be a lion. I love those dishes too. I prefere European Cusine over Oriental.. Chinese and things. Maybe I find eating with chopsticks fustrating... but I guess that is why Chinese are so thin, you cannot get much food in using a chopstick" She said. Also Chinese food used too much sesame. Sarah hated Sesame.
Left this time, Sarah followed along obiediently. She saw ahead a wall. "it must be a T junction up ahead" she mused aloud. But the she got closer and behold it was a dead end. "I don't think we should use spells here, maybe we need to turn back". They were not lost... just reached a dead end. Thats all
Taylor looked at him and blushed, "Really?" She was shocked and at what he said next, she shook her head, "No.. no... I actually kinda like it." Tay blushed even more, "I mean... it is nice of you to call me that..." She tried to hide her blush but it could still be seen. Taylor had a huge smile on her face though. Tay loved how Nash called her beautiful and how it was the first time that he ever called someone that. It made her feel special and had her beaming in joy from ear to ear.
Tay felt arms wrapping around her waist and she squealed. Taylor twirled just enough so that she can face him. She looked up at Nash with a huge smile on her face. Taylor burst into a fit of giggles. Tay nodded, "That you do..." She didnt try to wiggle out of his arms or anything, just stayed where she was at . She liked being in his arms. There was just something about him that made it feel safe to be in them. "You are a faster runner." Taylor looked up at him and couldnt help but notice that he was smiling which made her beam even more. Her arms went up and wrapped lightly around his neck without her thinking. She blinked and realized what she had done. Tay wasnt sure whether she should pull away or stay like that so she decided to take her cue from him on what to do by how he reacts to her arms around his neck.
Nashville looked around the maze to try and make the blushing stop, he felt like he was making a fool out of himself by blushing so much but at the same time Nashville felt very comfortable about blushing around Taylor, there was something about her...Nashville couldn't put his finger on it. Maybe a spark of some sort, but he was pretty sure that anyone could tell like he may have a huge crush on her but he just wanted to take it slow. "Yes really." Nashville chuckled a bit. "Maybe I should say it more often? Nice of me? Taylor, you are very beautiful and I think you should hear it more." Nashville wondered if her ex-boyfriend had ever called her beautiful? It seemed like she wasn't used to being called beautiful...at least to Nashville.
Nashville wrapped his arms around Taylor and moved her closer to him. He grinned. "Well I try to stay in shape for Quidditch and because I like running." Nashville wasn't lying he did like running even if it made him feel like he was going to die. He was really the best of runners but if he could chase Taylor all the time the he would love running. Nashville felt Taylor's hand move their way around his neck, he wasn't going anywhere, he didn't want to go anywhere, Nashville looked down into her eyes, he smiled and bit his bottom lip slightly the he kissed her.

Tay watched him look around. She liked the blush that was on his cheeks at the moment. Taylor couldn’t help but smile at what he said next. Tay bit her lip, blushing. ”It is, indeed, nice of you… and… thanks, Nash…” Taylor was bright red in the face at the moment from all the blushing that was going on. She brushed back a curl from her face and then replaced her hand back where it was at. Tay smiled as he moved her closer. Taylor looked at his grin and couldn’t help to beam one back at him. ”Maybe we can practice flying or just go on a run together sometime then since you like running.” Tay loved that he played quidditch, ”Hufflepuff versus Ravenclaw games are going to be real tough since I would want to root for you since I bet you are real good at it but I am an Eagle and trying out again this year so… I gotta say your team is going to lose.” She smirked, making it obvious that she was teasing him. She didn’t really care as long as she had fun though she was hoping to make the team and that her team gets the cup. ”Though if Minnie gets on your team, then us, Eagles, are going to have a real tough time beating you, Badgers.” Taylor smiled at him and looked into eyes. She thought it was cute how he bit his lip but then… she was kissing him back all of a sudden.
Merlin, did Kat look like an idiot? She had been standing there in front of the Maize Maze for minutes until Logan had nudged her. BLINK BLINK. What? "Err... sorry about that." Kat shook her head. Dear, oh dear Hudson. "I can't really be sure about that." She was excited because she'd be graduating soon, but she also wasn't... because she'd leave her friends behind. Especially those from the lower years. She'd miss welcoming firsties, but wait... did she really think of that? Hah. Who wanted homework anyway? No one. Head inside the maze. Kat would initially say no, because they might get lost. But pssssssssh, she would never turn down a challenge. "Game on." Whether they get lost or not, it would definitely be cool. It was worth a try, yeah?
Game on! Yes! That meant yes, they could go, would go, were going! Ariana bounced slightly as the head girl said she would go with her, they were going to do this together and get totally lost thats for sure! "awesome!" so they could go! She started to walk forward towards the front of the maze place.. hi ho hi ho, its through the maze they go!

Adi soon came to a fork. He looked i both directions, pondering which side to take. He decided to let his new friend make the choice. "Which side should we go?'' They could always double back when they came to a dead end.
"HOURS?" Caleb did not have HOURS to spend on this maze! He hoped Adi was wrong - after all, the groundskeeper knew that there were young children doing this, right? And most of them were not nearly as smart as Caleb? Therefore, he had to tailor it to THEIR intelligence level, and hopefully it wouldn't take hoursssss.
"Yup, both my parents did. Gryffindors. They were also prefects, and my mum even made Head Girl," he said with a smile. "How about you?" he asked.
Hmm, a fork in the road. Caleb tapped his chin and then clapped his hands together. "I vote left. Everyone goes with right. Let's go LEFT."

"I didn't know where I'd go, so I was nervous, and I had to worry about Sophie too, although I was sure she'd be in Slytherin, I was kind of worried about what would happen if I wasn't with her..." he trailed off and just shrugged, as if that settled it.
"UMMMM...I dunno. Did we pass this broken piece of maize before?" he asked, pointing to a piece of the maize wall that had snapped off and was hanging off the edge of the maze.
Come on, this couldn't be THAT hard!
"You have a twin TOO?" he asked, his mouth dropping open in awe. COOOOL! He wondered how many twins there were in the school, and in his year. "Boy or girl? Please say not identical, the last thing I need is to say hi to your twin in the hall and embarrass myself," he chuckled.
"I get it," she nodded and thought. Honestly, she thought that any house would be great and that she could make it 'home' there, but she also couldn't be happier with the house she was in. Forrest was in it and Elodie was in it and it couldn't be better! "Well ... you ARE with her, so that's great. I wanted to be with Dee, too, but that didn't happen." So lucky Caleb and Sophie.
Broken piece? What broken piec- ohhh. That one. "I'm not sure, I forgot to pay attention to the maze bits." Pause. "What if we can't get ouuuuut?" Actually, that would just mean more time for adventures and the like and that wouldn't be TOO bad. But food. She needed it. Merlin, they'd better get out! "I think we should go that way," she decided and pointed in a random direction. Depending on how big the maze actually was, they were bound to get out eventually, no matter where they went.
Distracted again.
"I dooooo!" Bristol enthused and grinned. "Isn't it the BEST?" They could spend so much time together and play and go adventures and it was just great. "Girl. Her name's Dee and nope, we're not identical. She dyed her hair with streaks of blue, anyway." Just streaks at the moment, but she knew that her twin wanted it ALL blue when she was older.
"Well, look at it this way, I guess...you at least have somewhere that you can go to get away from each other if you need to. I'm stuck with Sophie no matter what," Caleb said with a grin. He could tell Bristol seemed a bit upset about her sister being a Ravenclaw. Caleb totally understood. Ravenclaws were BORING.
"We have to be able to get out at some point - the groundskeeper wouldn't be THAT cruel. Would he?" he asked, wrinkling his eyebrows. He realized that he had no idea and she probably didn't either. After all, they were first years. They hardly knew him. "Well, let's hope he's not that sadistic," he said with a shrug as they continued onwards.
"Ok, good, then I won't accidentally confuse her with you," he chuckled. So blue hair did NOT equal Bristol. That was the other one. This Dee girl. Got it.

Adi grinned at Caleb's reaction. He had been joking, of course. Exaggerating more like it. "I'm kidding, bro,'' he said. "I'd get hungry in no time and I don't think I'd survive that long.'' Because he loved food and a hungry Adi was a miserable Adi.
They were Lions? And Caleb was a Snake? The Puffer squinted at Caleb. "Bet no one expected you to be a Snake, huh?'' He knew that family members were often put in the same House but there were exceptions to that rule. Just like him and his mom. "Mom was a Gryffindor too. She was the only one in my family to come to Hogwarts before me. Actually, she's the only one with magical blood before me.'' And that suited him fine because Muggles were cool too.
Yay! Left! Adi favoured left sides, as weird at may seem to people, but he was a leftie so...yep. "Let's go then!''

Charlie was not coping well within the castle and the grounds: trying to find her way between classes and to the bathrooms was a chore. She had no sense of direction and the map her father had drawn for her in Diagon Alley had been so bad she'd begged lack of another one.
Now she was kinda regretting it.
The newly-fifteen year old had thought she'd been getting used to it by now, and so she'd let her mind wander as she wandered around the grounds. Her first big mistake.
Her second was continuing to walk and try to find her way out of what seemed to be a maze.

Schuyler liked this Maize Maze. Not only because of the clever, cliche name, but also because she liked a good, old-fashioned challenge. And what better a challenge for the day than to find your way in and out of a maze? Schuyler made her way into the maze. She grinned to no one but herself - no one else was around - and she picked up her pace, eventually transitioning into a run. The cornstalks shook and wavered as she reached out an arm and ran her hand along them like one might do with a stick to a fence. But... yeah, that didn't last long because the corn cobs and stalks were starting to hurt.
Still running, but slowing down sliiiightly into the turn, Schuyler was still in her own little world. Well.... that was until she literally ran right into someone, successfully toppling said person right over like a domino. THUD. Fresh grass stains gracing her knees and palms, Schuyler turned over and looked to see this pretty, blonde girl whom she had just knocked straight over. She bit down on her lip and smiled. "Sorry about that...." She laughed a bit.

Nerida felt like she had looked everywhere when she had went out at night to look for her constellations, star, and planets... But no luck on that star. This night however the sixteen year old was determined to find that star!! She set out for one of the places she hadn't looked that maze if it wasn't here she had a few more places to check out before she went in for the night.
She set her telescope down as she reached the maze. Smiling she remembered when she came here when she first found out about it.. She had gotten lost but had found her way out thankfully!!!
After setting it up Nerida scoured the sky looking for it. Come on be here. She wanted to see how beautiful you looked in the sky... Whatever the Ravenclaw had been thinking must have boosted the star's ego because she found it not a moment after.

"I'm just saying it because you think I'm some weirdo ever since that train ride I just told you to stop but you kept insisting and I wanted to set things straight but you RUIN it again!" He folded his arms and held onto his robes to not scratch. Please. He couldn't scratch.
"What's wrong with you?!" There. He'd said something horribly rude. Ground, do you mind opening up into two to swallow him? It should be too embarrassing for even inanimate things to bear.
It was at least for Forrest. But he was still more angry and confused than he was embarrassed, so he just shook his head at Benjamin and turned his back to him to walk away.
Benzi blinked.
This boy REALLY needed to chi- OH OH HE WAS THE BOY FROM THE TRAIN. The corners of Benzi's mouth automatically went upwards but he really and truly tried not to look to amused since this boy was quite obviously having a fit. Poor guy. Benzi used to throw fits too.
BUT THEN HE WALKED AWAY. WHAT EVEN. You don't just WALK AWAY from BENZI. The mild insult went right over Benzi's head as he stomped towards the boy who was a Hufflepuff and turned him around, dropping his hand from the boy's shoulder immediately. "Look mate I dunno what I did but you really need to calm down. I don't think you're a weirdo. . . Well, no, I do, but that's fine!" Benzi said, surprising even himself with his words. Since when did he go around comforting wackos? Perhaps it was in the air here.
Though, if they became friends Benzi would really have to ask him what was up with the scratching thing because THAT had not been normal. Not at all.

Stan frowned. He quite didn't understand what she just said.. "So.. you stopped having ice-cream?" Whatever it was, how can anyone just NOT have ice-cream anymore? Ice-cream was like.. Pizza. You can't just give it up. Oh, well. Good luck to her.
.. "Yes, I am." Stan grinned proudly. Everyone in his family were tall though. His parents, uncle, cousins.. even his siblings were way too tall for their age. It was definitely a good thing. "Yeah.. the kissing is a problem, huh?" Stan smirked. He could understand though. Yep.
Adrienne wasn’t entirely sure why she’d brought her telescope all the way out to the maze, but it seemed like there were couples and friend groups all over the grounds and she was feeling pretty lonely so she’d headed to a place she hoped was out of the way. Evidently she was wrong, because she walked by at least two people and that first year (Benji?) she’d met at the feast, trying to ignore their stares as she dragged her telescope by.
Don’t mind me, students, I’m just heading to the middle of a corn maze to do my Astronomy homework. Yep, perfectly normal.
When she was out of everyone’s sight, she plopped herself down on the ground and stared at the night sky. With a sigh, Adrienne set up the telescope and began scouring the sky for the Scorpius constellation. Here, little scorpion... Merlin, she hated arachnids, and this wasn’t particularly helping.
There it was. Honestly, in her opinion, it looked nothing like a scorpion. Even in the book, with the lines drawn it, it was just closer to a three-pronged squiggly line. Now it just looked like a cluster of stars. But Antares was supposed to be right by the spot where it branches off. So it had to be that one! Or... maybe that one. There were so many of them! Adrienne shrugged and made a note. Close enough.

Another day. Another perfect night. Anya skipped outside with her telescope. She then set it up outside the corn maze and aimed it up at the sky. Hmm... what was available to see today...?
She star gazed for awhile before her eye caught hold of a bright star in the sky. She smirked to herself. That was one she was supposed to find.
She gathered her things and on the way back to the castle she crossed Antares off her list.

Okay?
Donnacha stared up at the maze as he searched his pockets for sweets, there had to be some... somewhere. Tactics. He had to think about the best way to explore this maze... He definitely needed a partner, in case monsters appeared and he had to fight them. Monsters would make the maze lots and lots cooler. Ooh, maybe there were the cool horse bird things. ..anyway, Donny shook his head and reminded himself to stay focussed. Explorers had to focus when exploring. FOCUS! So no sweets... Maybe he could find someone who had sweets and was willing to kick monster-tooshie with him.
AKKDHFAKSFJHALSDF. MONSTER ATTACK.
Donny squealed and flailed about until he realised that the monster attacking him was actually his best friend, none other than Abbicadabbi the Fairy. 'HEEEEEEY! ABBI ABBI ABBI GUESS WHAT?!' He jumped up and hugged her before continuing, she had to know this right now! 'THIS IS A MAZE. LIKE.. A THING WHERE YOU GET LOST BUT THAT'S THE WHOLE THING!' Did Muggles have mazes? He hoped so, they were lots of fun and Muggles should have lots of fun too. He liked all the other fun muggle things.
So.... partner found, this was all coming along rather nicely. 'LETS ESSPLORE!'
Not at all.
Benjamin was walking faster than him.
He held his shoulder.
He turned him around.
Forrest braced himself for a set of insults or a punch, but none came. Instead, the boy dropped his hand after perhaps realising it was too threatening, and spoke normally.
So it was fine to be a weirdo.
Hmm. Forrest believed that. He needed to.
"Okay." He needed to say something else, right? Like... something cooler. Something un-weird. Something...
"Let's start over, then." He had seen this in a movie. It worked in it. Hopefully, Benjamin wouldn't ruin it with stupid questions this time. Seriously. Forrest would skip being his friend if he asked everything.
"My name is Forrest. Hufflepuff second year." He held out his hand for a shake. Because that was how they did it in the movie.

Last thing to find- the star Antares! This activity wasn't so bad. Adi honestly thought that he would have to spend a very long time locating each of the celestial objects but it was quite the opposite! Sure, he had taken a bit of time to find them either in the night sky or on the Star charts but it wasn't as long as he had expected it to be.
His telescope was now trained up at the sky as he had already found Antares on the Star Chart. He had been looking up for about five minutes now but so far, no luck.
"Oh come onnnn!'' he cried out in frustration another five minutes. WHY in the world was this one so hard to find? The boy removed his eye from the telescope and blinked. Keeping an eye pressed to the glass was no easy feat for him.
After a minute he took up his search again. But this time, he had better luck. "Finally! There you are, Antares!''
you live your life just once, so don't forget about a thing called love.

She followed his gesture toward the maze. Was she going to go in? She tried to come up with something confident to say, but all that came out was, "Uhh..." She looked as far into the maze as she could see. It would be good to have somebody to go with, especially a smart Ravenclaw. "Okay, let's go," she said.
She gestured for him to go forward and added, "Thanks, I'm pleased." About her sorting, she meant. "Caleb? He's a snake, too. It sort of runs in the family."
Blake turned and started to walk through the entrance of the maze. "I'm glad to hear that," he smiled. "You'll have to introduce me to him sometime. You don't have to go out of your way to do it, just if we ever casually pass by each other." This maize sure was tall... "Are there any classes you are looking forward to?"

Okay? Okay. We're calm. Good. Mummy would be SO PROUD of him right now. He'd managed to calm someone down! Mental note to put it in the letter. Hogwarts was ALREADY working.
Ooh names was good. "That's a cool name Forrest! Do you like forests? And I'm Benzi! Er, Ravenclaw first year, but you knew that already. . . Whereabouts you from then Forrest?" Benzi grinned at him, feeling much more relaxed now that this boy - FORREST, he had a name now finally - was not going crazy.
Best keep an eye out though. Once crazy, always crazy.

You know that already...
Forrest wanted to snap at the boy, but instead took a deep breath. At least the boy was cooperating, even though he missed the point. Maybe they could even be friends or something in the future. If Benjamin matured a little and stopped calling himself 'Benzi'. Seriously. He was named 'Benjamin'. Forrest never understood why people shortened their names. And 'Benzi' wasn't even a short version of his original name.
"Rather, mum liked them," he said after processing everything he asked. "But generally, I like forests too. And I'm from Durham. England." He added 'England' as if it was an afterthought. Many people didn't know it. He didn't know it. But he was born there. Allegedly.
