The food had better not disappoint, cause Derry was starving... and the shortbread in her pocket just was not cutting it. There wasn't that much left anyway. She intended to fill herself up to bursting point tonight, since she should probably start eating a little healthier if she wanted to keep up with the other players on the pitch. No we aren't thinking about Quidditch right now.

"Yeah, you showed me a broom." Derry nodded, she remembered that, and she remembered the fact she couldn't afford one. Ugh, it really sucked. But honestly? She didn't really want to think about flying at the moment. For reasons. Luckily, Ariana seemed a little distracted, so she went back to greeting people.



Derry watched as her friends trickled into the hall, tapping her fingertips lightly on the table as she did so. She couldn't get her brain to shut up, and that was never good. Pfft. "Hey Kat!" she said, beaming, but she'd seen her on the train so she wasn't going to distract her from all the fancy head girl duties like greeting first years and whatnot... cause that was her job now, right?

She gave West and Theo a quick wave and a bright smile, but left it at that. Cause Theo probably had to be all prefect-y and West... well... she wasn't sure if it would be awkward talking to him or anything. Cause she didn't really know how he was feeling about life in general... and other things. Reasons people, don't underestimate the reasons.

As for Ascanius, she didn't have to wave or anything, cause he was here already. "Hey." she said in reply to his nod. Use your words, Ascanius... Ha. Hypocrite, Derryth. She eyed him for a moment, then produced the last bit of shortbread from her pocket, broke it in half, and gave him some of it. Cause he always seemed to be hungry, and if it had got to the point where Derry was starving, Ascanius was probably going to start wasting away.



"Hello!" Derry smiled back at Cassia, she had decided she had a special dorm-mate bond with Cat and Cassia. They saw her with her untameable hair in the morning. That was a bond you could not forget. "It's going good." she said, pointing to the badge on her chest. "Did you have a good su-" Oh, we've changed subjects already... okay. "I don't know about more luxurious, I just hope it's cleaner." Cause really, last year had been gross.

So... time to greet newcomers, yes? Because she had decided to get in early and round up all the people who played Quidditch. Cause she really really really had to prove herself... and the best way to do that would be making the best team, yeah? ... Eh... hopefully. Cue mental breakdown already.

But THERE was a new person. Looked about her age too... Good start, yeah? Derry slid up the bench to sit next to her and gave her a warm smile. "Hey. I'm Derry." she said. "You new here? It's a lot to take in, isn't it?" Friendly friendly friendly. Also gingers had to stick together, kay?



Hmm... and there was that girl Ariana had decided to eye. Well... No time like the present. Derry moved over to sit next to her and gave her a big smile. "Hello." she said, brushing a bit of hair from her face. "I'm Derry. I was new last year so I know what it's like..." she trailed off and noticed the girl had pencils and whatnot.

"What're you drawing..?" she asked after a moment, suddenly interested, all thoughts of Quidditch finally leaving her head. She liked drawing... but this girl was probably better than her - most people were.



Look! One more new person so far. She didn't look too friendly... but Derry was going to have to get over that wasn't she.. sigh. Right, here goes...

Derry walked over to the girl and took a seat next to her. "Hi, I'm Derry." she said, offering a smile. "I noticed you're new and thought I'd come over and say welcome so... Welcome to Hogwarts, and to Slytherin." Friendly... yes? "And if you're a flier I'd love to see you at tryouts." Please? Cause it'd be cool to see how everyone flew together, the old and the new, the awesome and the... possibly awesome.

Adelaide looked up to spot a girl who looked about her age. Not to mention the flaming red hair they seemed to share. "Hey Derry. I'm Adelaide."

Her mood was brightening up already. At least someone was talking to her at this point. She didn't want to be the outcast again. "Yep. You can say that again. This place is huge!" Not to mention all of the magicy stuff that was going on around them.

LOOKIT, there was a KAT! Ariana didn't see her anywhere before now and her eyes immediately flew to her chest.... the badge ON her chest y'know. "SEE!" she said pointing across the table at her "i told you it was your's, you totally deserve it y'know." She said the last part beaming, Ariana was so excited for her friend when she texted her all in a frenzy about it a few weeks ago, but ariana knew that her dorm mate was head girl material, she just knew it. Then Head girl was getting all personal then with the winks and ariana just chuckled and blew the girl a kiss. it was their think mkay?



Mid Kissing blowing suddenly there were voices and ariana knew those voices, boy voices. she looked over and saw Odessa and Ascanius and Kinsley, and ohh LOOKIT, Kinsley had a THING."you have a thing." she said eyeing his badge yup she was proud, Theo deserved it, he was a good kid yup! "congratulations on it." and stuff you know.
"usually after we starve for about an hour." she said to Ascanius,didn't he know he was here last term, but over the years ariana concluded that it was usually an hour from the time they got in here till the speech and food and stuff. Really though she just wanted that good yummeh food again, although she wasn't particularly hungry tonight he still wanted to at least SEE the good yummeh food.
Tall!Odessa was there too and Ariana gave him a waaave, one wouldnt guess how close the two were really. it was a thing for them to get together and talk about things, no one really was aware of it though it wasnt like it was something to be announced.speaking of which she had things she needed to talk to him about, later, not now, not in front of others.




This one though, Miss Somerlad was CRAZY, above all else, she was loud and insane and gave Ariana a headache on ost days but she was alright, ariana could see how she looked up to her, though she didn't understand why. There was nothing too great about her anyways but she allowed it. "evening." chipper she was tonight, this was ok.



"it didn't dont worry." cause t never DID make a mistake, specially not with the slytherins and if it did she would have some WORDS for that hat, WORDS mkay. So the new girl had nothing to worry about.. unless she was ike a hufflepuff or a ravenclaw and totally NOT a snake, well then, this would be fun.


So many people to see, so many things to do, Ariana was excited. Coming into this feast she almost expected it to be a bit sad, you know last incoming feast and all for her and her fellow seventh years but t wasn't the energy was high and happy and the complete opposite of last term and it made her smile, something the girl rarely did now a days

YEAH. Meat was for men. And West and Theo were MEN. "Roasts are my faaaavourite." He did a little hunger-groan because that was necessary when stuff like THAT was mentioned.

"Mmmhm." Duh? As much as Theo wanted to be a good Slytherin prefect and stay with his own table, the Ravenclaw table happened to be the next coolest one with a ton of people worth seeing. Theo definitely wanted to catch up with a few before they got all busy with school work. "Vesper? OH... I forgot she was coming." Actually, he briefly saw her on the train but got distracted too quickly. "Aww, did she get Ravenclaw?" Niiiiiiiiiiice.

Oooh, party things. Theo grinned widely. "Awesome, I'll be there." He paused, looking over his shoulder. It wasn't a particularly secret event but he still treated it like one, because he was an idiot. "I have ideas."

Mwahaha.

"Hey, guuuuurl."

Theo cleared his throat quickly and bent his head low, "Not much, just chillin'." Yep. The usual.

Huh?

"Oh..." Paaaaaause and staaare. "Thank you." He said rather smugly. If being a prefect made random people come up and fawn all over you, then Theodore was an even happier guy. He looked at all of his friends sat around him with the same smug expression.

Not on purpose, total accident.

Theo watched anxiously as Kat introduced herself as the female prefect to some of the new students... (Adelaide, Tallulah & Nicci)

Was he...? Is that what they were supposed to do?

He got up from his seat and squished himself next to Kat. "And I'M Theodore. Your male prefect." Yes, just to get it out there.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeey, Derry.

Theo waved back and was instantly reminded of Quidditch. QUIDDITCH SIGN UPPPPPPPPPPPS.

Theo gave Ariana a stare, then turned away to give her the cold shoulder. And yes he did have a thing, and maybe, JUST MAYBE, Theo would thank her later when he forgave her.

Cutty was sorted Slytherin.







Whatever.

He hadn't the foggiest as to what it all meant anyhoo. For all he cared he could've been sorted Ravenclaw so long as his stores of candy were still upstairs with his things. He was planning on selling them to the other children who might be in desperate need at a slightly marked up price.

He sat there looking about at the other students. Trying to get a feel for who his best customer might be.

"Same." Cat was just agreeing with everything that Derry was saying in the last five minutes, but really, it was all things she agreed WITH. "My momma isn't very good at cooking, but the rest of my family is and I got used to all the food all the time." Her poor growing body was going to go into shock after that whole summer. But really, she'd get over it and make food for herself whenever she needed it.

Well, Ariana seemed to be rather happy and not.. snappy. Cat was glad for it too, there was nothing worse than starting off the new term in a sour mood, she figured so, anyway. She got another smile from a super smiley Cat. "I'm glad to hear you had a good summer, Ariana." Hehehe.

But anyway, she was sure the food would be fine. Just wasn't appearing fast enough.



While she was still thinking about food, Cat noted the arrival of another female Slytherin except this one was sporting a pretty shiny badge. OHHHHHHHH. Pretttyyyyyy! Cat gave HER a grin too, "Head Girl, congratulations!" That was exciting stuff, right? She thought it was, anyway.



Cat wiggled her fingers in the direction of the three boys who seemed to have arrived all together and if not, one right after the other. She liked it when boys traveled in groups. Except this group of boys didn't count. They just didn't.

"Hi West. Hi Ascanius. Hi Theo." OHHH. Theo had a badge too. "Prefect Theo, I should say."



"Hiiiiii Cassia!" Cat waved and greeted her fellow fifth year as if she had not spent the train ride over in the same car with the girl. It had been like WHOLE MINUTES worth of time since they'd last seen each other, obviously she got a good greeting. At the girl's question, Cat put on her thinking face. "I actually hadn't thought about that. We were rather focused on the food, but hey, I think MAYBE it will? You think so?" She didn't know what it was supposed to look like to begin with, so it would be a surprise either way.



Hello new person.

Cat was a new person last term too and she'd spent most of her time making friends, while pretty much everyone was super nice, there were some who were more difficult, but anyway, she knew what it was like to be tossed in with everyone already paired off. So she smiled at the new girl. "Hi. I'm Cat. Caterina, really, but everyone calls me Cat, so you can too, if you want." Yep. That was a good way to start. "What's your name?" Hmm? HMMMM?

Józsua took his place at the Slytherin table. Famished, the sorting, apparently, was a hungry business. His eyes swept across his peers, pausing on one or two as he took things in. Soo.. these kids would be who he would be spending the next three years of his life with.

Interesting...

Brits were certainly different from the students at Beauxbatons. It was either that they were more relaxed or less refined. Józsua wasn't quite sure which. He didn't mind either. Change was good. And this was a MASSIVE change.

He decided he would just spend time people watching for now. If anyone spoke to him then, great, but he was quite happy to sit here and observe for now.

The excitement of Caleb's sorting started to wear off a tiny bit as he got to his table and realized he had no idea where to sit. He didn't see any familiar faces, and most of the kids were...BIG KIDS. Like way older than him. Would they want a little runt of a first year hanging out with them? Or would they turn him away?

This was SLYTHERIN after all. Even though he was beyond excited about his house, they didn't have the nicest reputation...

"Um. Hi. Can I sit here?" Caleb asked, pointing to a sit next to one of the older kids. There weren't many empty seats, so it was this seat, or risk having to STAND or something. Which would be totally embarrassing.

Cutty had taken one look at the lad beside him and decided firmly...


He was NOT from around here.


The fact that Cutty found him quite shiny only made him more interesting. Very, very polished. Not unlike a brand new gobstone and a sharp contrast to Cutty's general dishevelment with his uncombed hair and often dirty hands.

"Oi." He said quietly to the neatly put-together boy. "You're not from around here, are you?"

Curious if the school was eh... more cleaner and if the food had become better, the now Third year old entered the Great Hall, and what she saw was... REALLY GOOD! Her eyes where big from the happy feelings she had, the school was back to normal again! No cheap plates and more important, she didn't needed to pay for her own food! But, was the food also good to eat this year? Hmm, she wanted to try it because.... SHE WAS HUNGRYYYYYYYYYYY!

Still grinning and with her eyes fixed on the tables to see if everything really was the same and she was even happy enough to greet the other Slytherins who were already sitting and chatting with each other. "HELLLLLLOOOOOOO!" Laughed Sonea while she sat down on a random place.

There were plenty of kids who looked his own age, Józsua thought.

And yet, for some reason unbeknownst to him, he was a magnet for first years..

Now of all the people in this hallway, even Józsua knew he didn't look like the most approachable person. Yet here they were.

Two of them..

He looked at the first. Conversing with younger kids wasn't really his forte, but as it was his first evening in a new school, he decided he would try and make an effort. “Yea... knock yourself out, kid.” He replied in his American-sounding-drawl.

What now? He wasn't entirely sure what kids talked about. “Congratulations on your sorting?” Supposed to be a statement, it came out as an uncertain question.

But sorting seemed very important around here so he decided that was a good way to go.


And then there was the other small boy.

Quite a dirty looking little boy at that with an abrupt attitude to match.

He wasn't from around here? Was it REALLY that obvious?

Józsua blinked and looked down at the younger boy. “No, I'm not from around here.” He replied, unable to help a small, slightly embarrassed, smile. The kid had said it loud enough for others to hear.

“How'd you know that?”

Józsua was genuinely curious. Perhaps the boy had heard his name called during the sorting. 'Józsua Istvan' wasn't exactly your common or garden British name..

"Don't look British, look more fancier than that. Like they do on the Riviera." Cutty lifted his hand with his wand-hand to scratch the side of his head flicking a pebbly and hard object from it as he did so. "It's only school. You don't have to get all done up." Cutty obliviously reminded the boy, or told him for the first time incase he didn't know.

Well, a Gryffindor might have been able to approach this table with a bit more confidence, but Sophie was no Gryffindor. This she knew for sure now. Her brother was here...somewhere, but where? She really kind of hoped to stop showing up places and relying on him to be her only companion.

She wondered where the first years she'd met on the boats had gone off to. Had they been sorted yet? Were any of them here with her? Instead, she just saw a sea of unknown faces, and she sure wasn't going to go up to one of them and ask to sit next to them. This was Slytherin, and she had to be strong.

Too bad Aunt Sierra had graduated two years ago...

She continued her walk down the table, kind of hoping an opportunity would just jump out at her.

"Thanks," Caleb said with a smile as he took a seat next to the older boy. He immediately noticed his accent, and his first instinct was to ask where he was from. But he decided that asking questions like that right off the bat might be considered intrusive. And if there was one thing he learned from Aunt Sierra, it was that Slytherin's liked their privacy.

Well, normal people liked privacy, but Slytherins were like EXTRA private.

"I like your accent," he decided to say with a smile. Yes. A compliment rather than an invasive question.

In the few moments it had taken him to sit down and find a seat, he'd noticed that Sophie had finally been called up. He paused and looked up at her, wondering where she'd end up. He had a hunch she'd be here with him, but who knew - sometimes the hat had surprises up it's sleeve.

But a second later, the hat confirmed what Caleb knew was true - Sophie was a Slytherin. It hadn't even occurred to him until now that they were in the same house. YAY! HE HAD AN ALLY IN ALL THIS MADNESS! He'd been very nervous since he sat down, afraid of saying or doing something that would irritate his new house, and even though it had only been a few minutes, it was nice to know that now he had someone to share this with.

Slytherin wasn't scary at ALL now.

"Sophie! Over here!" Caleb called, motioning his sister over.

Petra went and sat over at the slytherin table. The great hall has huge and beautiful adorned in green banners...I wonder why green banners? she thought to herself. Anyway, Petra took in the sights all around her and was looing around at the many people that had been or just were sorted into slytherin. Feeling a bit out of place with new faces and all, Petra didn't know anything else to do but to sit quietly.

Cutty continued scratching at the side of his head for a moment more before readjusting his hat. He looked across the table to see another young sortee. She had huge blue eyes set into an almost doll-like face, which creeped Cutty out a little bit. He couldn't help but stare at her for longer than was appropriate.

"Well, aren't you going to sit down, girl? Or like standing around, do you?" This was as polite as he was going to get that evening. Probably.

Józsua couldn't help it. He let out an unexpected bright laugh. 'Done up' was a phrase he always associated with the female population, but he couldn't deny he took a pride in his appearance.

“My father's Hungarian, my mother's French.” He said with a wave of his hand. “I'm a Beauxbatons transfer.”

He didn't have a trace of a French or Hungarian accent despite being able to speak the languages fluently. He had picked up a strange American/British/European mix from the different places he had lived throughout his childhood.

He eyed the boy for a moment. “Soo.. Somewhere between you and me would probably be socially acceptable around here?” Because, lets face it, this kid could do with a bath. And.. did something just fall out of the kid's hair or his hand? Uugh.. It made the OCD hairs prick up on the back of Józsua's neck.

“You..” Er.. “Did you just drop something?”

Dirty abrupt first years. This was not what he had anticipated for the feast.

This other boy was rather different and Józsua gave him a small, genuine smile. “Were you hoping for Slytherin?” He asked trying to make conversation.

The accent. He supposed he would get lots of comments on it while he was at the school. “Thanks.” He replied. “I like yours too.” British accents were rather interesting with all the regional dialects and such. Józsua thought his own quite bland and boring in comparison.

“I'm Józsua.” He introduced himself to the younger boy.

Looking up from his pathetic plate that did not yet have any food on it, the fifth year smirked at Cat and said with a wink, "Sup, gorgeous?" Yeah, usually he would have put in more energy into his harmless outburst of charm then what he had just put out but he was hungry and it was distracting.

He was zen, though. He could keep it together. Just had to wait a little longer for food.



Starve for like an hour.

She was joking, yeah? Jeez, she had to be joking because it had been a long day and stuff and now was not the time. He was not going to joke about this anymore because his zen was starting to crack. Hunger was not something a teenage boy ever spoke lightly about. 'Specially growing teenage boys. Not even for a second.

So he just blinked a couple of times at her and didn't say anything. Stare, Bikini!girl, stare.



She wasn't going to get a hey in return. Not right now because he was annoyed that the plates, the ones that were finally nice enough to not get moldy anymore, were empty. And from his recollection the feasts lasted longer then, well, everything. 'Cause the Professors wanted to chat amongst themselves, no other reason.

They needed to get a move on, hungry students were waiting. More accurately hungry teenage boys were hungry. Mhmm.

But then, like Derry always did, she was right on the money with what he wanted, yeah? Derry to the rescue with shortbread. And as soon as she gave it to him he scarfed it down in one bite.



Someone new had just walked up to the Slytherin table and she immediately caught Ascanius' attention. Oh hey there new girl. Smirk. She was getting all the looks right now, well, the best that he could muster right now. It was not a full effort smirk for reasons.

Nodding his head at the new girl, Ascanius leaned his elbow on the table, "Hey, beautiful." He needed to know her name. Not that he was EVER going to call her by it, but it was gentlemanly to just know it, yeah?



Turning his attention to Cassia, Ascanius shrugged extremely casually and replied, "Anything'll do at this point." It wasn't like he could just grab food at his own whim now. Nah, it had to be school issued. Pfft. There were so many things about academia that made Ascanius itch, but more on that later.

Brushing off those thoughts, Ascanius just kept a smirk headed in Cassia's direction and eventually he threw her a wink. He was generous like that. And attractive. Smirk. He was so attractive.

'Course he would have been MORESO if his face was bearded, but that was this term's project. His WOULD have a beard and that would be that.



"Riiiight?" Ascanius agreed looking forlorn at the empty plate. It would have been so much nicer to look at with something on it. Much like his own face with facial hair. Finally someone who understood his hunger, but he wasn't surprised. West understood for reasons. Teenage growing boy reasons.

He went back to being pathetic over his plate until he heard West mention the party at the place that they had scoped. Yeah, it was totally perfect. Not that, well, yeah...they'd need to discuss this all privately since no doubt Theo would be a part of planning. After all, he was West's best mate and all.

"Yeah," Ascanius threw on the end. Also, he wasn't blind. He saw the badge on Theo's chest and while he didn't understand the appeal of authority and conforming to the man, whatever. S'not his choice. So, "Congrats on the badge, Theo."

Now food.

Tallulah smiled when the ginger girl sat near her complimented her name. "Thanks," Adelaide. "So do you." She rolled her ink pen across the table, her other hand resting against her cheek, and paused for a moment before asking: "How do you spell it?"

Adelaide definitely sounded like a name that would be fun to paint, but only if she had it right.




More people! More ginger people. More people to envy. "Hello."

Derry. Also has a badge. Tallulah couldn't see it very well from this angle, though. "I'm Tallulah." Pfft. This Derry just ASSUMING she knew how Tallulah was feeling right now. Sure... She probably DID know... but still. Rude. Ish... It was still nice to know. Heh. "Thanks..."

Oh!

Tallulah half covered her drawing, protectively. "Oh, um... Just... stuff... Drawing helps." She'd decided to sketch the fireplace closest to them, because she could see it clearly without having to strain her neck to look.

After a moment, Tallulah pushed the book away from her, ever so slightly. "You can have a look, if you want."

The other pages were better. She had other things to draw with, which she was better with. Some pages were full of geometric designs, and others full of filigree patterns. Some pages had pencil sketches in - of her mum; her dad; Fern; her neighbour Jenna (all sporting attempts of different art styles, with varying degrees of success), and some of the pages were full of watercolour, with no particular scene on show. There were at least twice as many pages empty as there were used, though. She didn't want to use her knew one until this one was full.



It did make the right choice. Okay. Tallulah wasn't sure how this girl was qualified to confirm this, so she just nodded, politely, the turned her attention to someone else.



Oh!

Um.

This person was definitely more enthusiastic than the others. She looked across the table, as the girl began to speak. So many words. So QUICK. Was it healthy for someone to speak so quickly? Surely it couldn't be. Once it seemed the girl - Cat - wanted to breathe, Tallulah smiled hesitantly, before speaking herself:

"Er... Hi, Cat. I'm Tallulah."

She momentarily looked back to Derry. It made her feel a little bit nervous, letting a stranger look at her sketchbook. It showed she trusted these guys though, right?

"Oh, Beauxbaton. My father wanted to send me to a school like that in Canada, but my mum won that battle." The boy seemed rather unperturbed by the implication of having been unshowered. "That sounds about right."

"No." He answered Józsua's question about having lost something with non-chalance. Cutty shook his head wearing a smile that gave his head the appearance of a monkeys head with his large ears. "So why did you transfer here?" He asked curiously.

She hadn't been looking CLOSELY at her like-older-sister friend. But when she did and smiled at the looking great comment she noticed the shiny pretty badge. "Katrina Hudson our head girl!" She squeaked! "Congratulations!" HOw come she was NOT told! HUH?! Though, she liked surprises so it was good. "That is so great," She beamed at the older girl. The head girl was a snakette. HA!Now she only needed to know who was head boy. Also, this year the headgirl wasn't a red-headed like it's been like for a couple of years. Mhhmm.

"How's things? Anything interesting happened since we last wrote?" She asked her with a grin. In other words, how was the boyfriend? *wink*



Did Cassia need glasses? She hadn't noticed this badge! "You're the captain!" She beamed at the red-headed. "Congratulations and good luck!" Because it was tough! The whole Quidditch thing was, even more when you were actually the one responsible for the other players. "I'll take care of Lando during matches and practices and stuff." YAY! More time with the kitten. Now back to the dorms. Well, come to think of it, it really wasn't likely that the fifth-year dorm was gonna be luxurious, they were still students . Eeh. "Exactly," She nodded thoughtfully. "The dust is awful," She wrinkled her nose.

"So, had good summer?" She asked her. Was Derry gonna say that by the way?




"The food is really important." Totally, it was fair enough to think about the food before the dorms. Since this was the feast. But somehow she was already thinking about the dorms. "I do hope it's better than last term," Pause. "The food I mean." Since they were on the table. Duh. But again the dorms. "Like Derry said, hopefully they're cleaner," She repeated the captain's words. "But maybe we could make it luxurious, you know," She said excitedly. "We can redecorate it ourselves." They had already been cleaning it so why not decor,too.



Ariana didn't cringe nor wince, meaning Cassia had finally managed to find the proper voice level that didn't hurt the ears and head of the older girl. YAY! Took her sometime though. "So!" This was an indication that a conversation was starting and no one knew how long it'd take. Brave yourself! "How was your summer?" Cassia was generally curious yet she was more curious to find out about the fellow cool people. Mhhm. "Had good one?" Do start speaking please.



This time, she had already seen the badge. And she was about to squeal, cover you ears.

But before squealing, the blond laughed at the 'gurl' for some reason. She was in a good mood and felt like laughing ok? "Did I mention that this badge is looking very cool," She just did! "Can I touch it!" Actually she was going to anyways. And how good was it to have a close friend in an authority position. SUPER cool. "So I can now do whatever I can, right?!" OF COURSE! Who cares about curfew or all the rules. Life was getting better thank you, Theodore.

New kids!

Cassia always kept her eyes open for those. Always. Those made the best minions supporters. And she was just nice and liked to know everyone and everything. That was called nosy but she preferred nice and observing.

She smiled at the little kid. "Hey, there," She called out to him. "Welcome to Slytherin." To ze cool house with ze cool kids like herself, she wanted to add. But step by step. "I'm Cassia." Names were important.



The blond's memory was very good. Especially her visual one. So when she thinks she's seen a face before, it means that she's seen this face before. No chance of being wrong at all. So when the boy approached the table and sat down. It took her a couple of moments to decide that she knew the face. Or more like, had seen him before. Or even spotted him once. Still counts.

Then it clicked. She had seen him while she was lost shopping for books. Him, yup. No doubt. "Hi, there," She said to him with a smile. Did he remember seeing her there? He might not. So she didn't want to sound like a creeper. "I'm Cassia, welcome to Slytherin." Wlecoming the new kids like she always did.

Smiling at the other futureminion possible-friend, Cassia took in the new kid's attire and could tell that she either was nervous or hesitant or both or something absolutely different. She could remember a bit about that. "Hello," She called out to the kid. "What's your name?" Did that sound too intimidating? "I'm Cassia," Just so the girl didn't feel like she wasn't being interrogated.



This person was hungry. Cassia could tell and relate. She really could. That bar of candy she had on the carriage only reminded her stomach how it was good to be filled. Though, when Cassia's hungry she talks to distract herself from thinking about food.Actually, she talked whether she was hungry or not. Unlike Ascanius. He barely talked. And not just to her, she had noted that. Not that she'd take it personal or anything. She wouldn't converse about Quidditch and he wouldn't do so about ...nail polish? Or so she assumed.

She thought of asking him about his summer but he didn't talk about it back at the train, perhaps it was personal.. She just grinned at his wink. One day, she'd find out if there was anything in common to talk about.

Cutty had been scratching at the surface of the table waiting for the feast to begin and wondering if there'd be pickles. He left a dirty mark where his finger had been as he looked up to see an older girl smiling at him.

His brows furrowed as if automatically as he considered what what might do/say. Then she spoke. Oh, it was just an introduction. "Hullo. Name's Cutty Mordaunt." he told the older witch. "So is it like, a big deal to be sorted Slytherin?" One house sounded just as the other, though he was hoping for exceptional. His father had gone to a completely different school and his mother didn't tell him a thing.

Walking gracefully towards the table from the Sorting Hat, Ariel grinned smugly. Yes, she could tell already that she'd fit in here just fine.

She scanned the scene as she walked towards an empty seat, looking to see if anyone she knew was already seated. Thankfully, Fern appeared to be bound for Hufflepuff, but it appeared as if Stan was over in that direction too. Just as well, she hadn't liked him much anyway. However, is she wasn't mistaken, Tallulah appeared to be seated along the Slytherin table. The familiar face was comforting.

Ariel took a seat several spaces down from Tallulah, not bothering to say anything in the girl's direction. Talking over people was obnoxious, and she'd likely see her around anyway. From what she'd read, the Slytherin common room was in the dungeons, under the lake. Personally, Ariel would have preferred one of the towers, but it wasn't like she could do anything about it. Whatever.

In any case, somebody had better get this show on the road. She was hungry.

Ahem. Yeah. She did her job well, didn't she? They did know that it was a bit tiring to keep on greeting and congratulating students who got sorted into Slytherin house. Lafay knew that right? "You're welcome," Kat said with a grin. She may or may not have noticed that the younger girl had stuff to think about, because she had been quiet for quite a time. Anyway, Kat wouldn't disrupt her though, since she herself would be very annoyed if someone kept irritating her. She didn't want to instill that kind of impression on new students, okay?

Kat also didn't notice the girl observing her. She was having a bit of thinking herself with so many people gathered around the House Table. If she did notice, it would've been awkward and Kat would be self-conscious for a second. Yep.

See? She did notice the badge! "Yeah, and Head Girl." Kat nodded. Shiny badge right? She polished it twice a day: once when she woke up and second before she slept. "Nice meeting you, Tallulah." Is there a way she could make a nickname for this girl? It was a tongue twister name.


This one seemed a bit more enthusiastic than the previous one. Kat wasn't sure if this was a good sign or a bad sign. Good because it wouldn't be weird talking to a person who wanted to be engaged in a conversation... and bad because the Head Girl didn't like the really chatty type of people. But yeah, Kat was going to stick with the good side of things tonight since it was too early in the term to feel negative.

And her name was Adelaide. Duly noted, miss. "It's a pretty name." Oooh, and she was gonna talk to Tallulah. Kat wasn't disrupting any conversation right now, yeah? Hopefully.

What it's like being a prefect. Was she getting interviewed? Was it possible to feel this important now? Uhm, yes it was... apparently. "It's a lot of work since your house mates look up to you and you wouldn't want to make a bad impression of what a Slytherin leader really is." Maybe sometimes it was stressful, but she wouldn't mention that. "You get privileges as a prefect, though." Awesome, right?


Ooooooh. "Heeeeeey Captain!" Kat waved at the redhead and winked at her. And yes, she had called her captain because she did have the badge now. The wink was necessary too, because the ooooh-so-shiny badge looked pretty on her.

But yeah okay, prefect duties. They'll all be done in a matter of hours. She just wanted food and sleep after all of that.


Haha. Oh... Ariana Logan, you flattering person, you. Kat just shrugged and beamed at her dorm mate though. "I guess I am Head Girl." And can you hear the words "epic term" at the end of the tunnel? Do you? Because it was going to be an epic term, Kat just knew it okay? "You are still a flatterer, you know?" In fact, their friendship was so ego-inflating and amusing. Kat definitely needed her daily dose of flattering. It'd be their last term after all. Meh, that was sad now. And yep. Her winks had worked! Kat 'caught' Ari's kiss and pulled it close to her heart. "I feel loved, awwww." They were an awkward bunch in front of hundreds of students. Haha, oooops?


Well, about time! Kat beamed at Theo. Seeeeeee? Could you see how awesome her fellow Slytherin prefect was? Yep. They all had to let it sink in that they, Kat and Theo, were the Slytherin student leaders. Alongside Derry, that it. But yep, that was it.

Deal with it, bro.


OH MERLIN. Even more new Slytherins? Kat was hoping the speech would rush now... because she needed water. She had been talking for a while now and yep. The same thing she did with the other new Slytherins, Kat went over to them. "Hiiii guys!" she greeted them. "Welcome to Hogwarts, and to Slytherin." Kat wiggled both of her pointer fingers. Waving her hand was too mainstream.

But yeah. That was it.

Oh wait. Introductions, she almost forgot that part. "I'm Katrina, female Prefect." ANNNND Head Girl! But they could see it with her badge and all.



Hmmmmm? Was someone calling her or something? Or maybe her ears were just fooling around with her. To make sure, Kat turned her head to the side, away from the new students. Oh? "Thank you!" she said and wiggled her pointer fingers at the girl. She still didn't know her though. She needed the name. The name! "But I don't know you. Hi, I'm Katrina." And you are? Share thy name.

Oh my. Did she just say it out loud? Heh. Kat just beamed. It might have been a bit of a "people would stare at me" moment but also a BAM!ego moment for the Slytherin. "Yeaaah that's me," Kat said. Everyone listening would know then. "And thank you!" She totally surprised her snake!sister!ickle by not telling her. She told know one except Ari and Bee, because she used to be so confused about it. Turns out Headmistress Truebridge wasn't kidding. Snake Head Girls were awesome. End of story.

Things. Hmm. "Everything's alright. Nothing to interesting yet." Kat winked. "How about youuu and your.... life?" Cassia knew what she meant. HEHEHE.

West nodded his agreement about planning things. It'd be good stuff, with Ascanius and Theo both the sorts that had ideas about things and all. He'd just be the one to pull it all together. Y'know, all subtle like.

Or not subtle like. He was still learning the subtle thing.

Having done greetings and commented on the silverware and whatnot, and without any specific detailed questions being thrown his way, West settled back to wait for food and to take note of his new housemates. Well huh. Not all firsties either. That was always.... oh man, Derry had shortbread. Or like had had shortbread. Now Ascanius had short bread. Or he had had it anyways. Despite feeling relatively terrible about it all, in that moment it was rather dulled by hunger, and West, catching Derry's wave and smile, did his absolute best to properly smile back. Properly. Except not really, but she didn't need to know that. He didn't want her to feel bad, that just made things feel worse really. So, full beam smile. He was a Slytherin, he could fake it til he made it, and she was his friend after all. He didn't quite have the guts to give her the gift he'd got her though, not yet anyways.

Cat and Cassia were there being all.... Cat and Cassia-y. Hem. Cat would probably tag along to the Ravenclaw table too, for Mo reasons. Cassia was recruiting followers, he noted. People to wave palm fronds at her and hold a plate of grapes and such. What sucked was there was no Peyton to round things out. He missed her already, but there was a redhead replacement that Derry was talking to by the looks of it (GrapehGrape). They did tend to travel in packs he'd noticed, except Clement who kept to himself or attached himself face to face with Kat.

This was something West could understand. Good lips, those.

But anyways, who was she? She sounded enthusiastic, West noted. He wasn't gonna interrupt any conversation though, so he just offered a friendly smile and cast his attention along the table. First year..... Pair of first years... Sonea... Kahlan... First year..... A girl that probably wasn't a firstie (Fira).... new? Had to be new, he'd know her if not.... First year... dude that looked his age (noodles)... West's eyes stopped there. Huh. Who was that guy? What year was he in? Did him and Theo and Ascanius and Terry (where the heck was Terry anyways?) have a new dormmate? Well he seemed busy chatting away to firsties so... West just sort of nod smiled and continued his looking around.

It was a pretty good distraction.

He was staying quiet though, needed food to function and whatnot.
