Adeline tried very hard to restrain herself from bouncing up and down like a three year old that spotted candy. BUT IT WAS ALEC! How long has it been? A year or almost two since she had seen him. She really felt bad that she hadn't gotten in contact with Alec Blake Summers of all people how could it slip her mind that she forgot to owl him or to visit Diagon Alley.
Adeline remembered during her second year when she had that huge embarrassing crush on Alec and looking back she is glad that Alec didn't return any feelings for her because then she wouldn't have fallen for Asher...his best friend? Well now she just made herself feel uber awkward.
Adeline turned around and wrapped her arms around him. She just missed him so much. "Alec! Oh I missed you so much! It's been forever." The American stopped hugging him and stepped back a couple inches.
The thought that Adeline might not recognise him didn't even register in Alec's brain. It had been... what? Two years since the two had seen each other? Two whole years... nearly. Where had the time gone? But no matter. He didn't look too different, hopefully. Maybe just quite a bit taller from the last time she had seen him.
He grinned, though. Full on GRINNED at the girl, as if someone was offering him free pancakes. Or cookies. Or BACON. Man, free bacon would be awesome, wouldn't it? ... Erm, back to Adeline. "I've missed you too!" he said, wrapping his arms around her and giving her a squeeze hug, "It has! I hope you not writin means that you've been busy?" Yeah, that's right, we are onto you, Miss Adeline Holiday.
He grinned some more, though, just because. As he had questions. Was the former Hufflepuff ready for those? "How've you been? And Asher? Everything good?" Why hadn't he heard from Asher recently either?
So Taylor and this person were in the same house? Alec grimaced slightly, thinking about how awkward this must make the whole situation. "I'm sorry," For her situation. Absolutely. "It might mean that you can't... go to the common room, your common room, a lot. And... still be friendly but just... let the person know that you need your own space too?" He wasn't giving her bad advice, was he?
Alec nodded enthusiastically as he turned and picked out a packet of some Peppermint Humbugs and examining it. Were these things nice? And most importantly, would the people he was getting them for like it? And... huh? "Oh yeah! Brilliant! He makes a brilliant Beater, too!" he said, turning to her and holding up the packet, "Are these nice?" Did Taylor know a lot about sweets?
Alec noticed things. He noticed EVERYTHING. ... Okay, that last bit wasn't entirely true but he DID notice the way Taylor was giggling and... doing that weird ankle thing. He also noticed the way she said 'our' but then broke off to just say 'a picnic'. "Yeah? Was it a nice picnic?" He could be subtle, right? Just like he could be subtle about bringing up this girl's name in talks with Nash. "Oh! It was on the 18th of September. When's yours?"
Tay shrugged when he said he was sorry. She nodded, ”Okay… avoid the common room a lot and be friendly, saying I need my space…” Taylor mentally wrote down the advice, ”Thanks for the advice, Alec.” Tay twirled and hugged him, beaming at him.
She giggled as he nodded enthusiastically. Tay watched him pick up a bag, not noticing what kind though. Taylor tilted her head, ”Brilliant beater as well? Wow… Wade must be AMAZING at this game… maybe I should ask for pointers.” She gave a nod at that and then noticed what he had picked up as he held it up to her. Her nose wrinkled at what they were, ”Peppermint Humbugs? Umm… I guess they are nice… I mean I hate peppermint… but if someone likes peppermint, they would like those.” Tay gestured to the bag and tilted her head, ”Do you like them… or are ya going to gift them?” Taylor smiled at him and giggled, twirling a blonde curl around her finger.
Tay nodded and beamed, blushing a bit. ”Yes! It was amazing…” Taylor twirled, ”I love picnics… I mean the one we had at the hourglasses was good but this one…” She sighed happily and twirled a few more times. ”It was wonderful…” A lovey dovey smile came on her lips as she think about Nash. ”Though he didn’t as—umm…” Tay blushed, not continuing on with what she was saying. A pout formed at what he said next, ”September 18th? I missed it!” A frown appeared, ”Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?” Taylor tilted her head and sighed. Then he asked about hers and she answered with, ”June 8th…” She was a late spring baby and it showed by how much she loved spring weather.

If only Alec had known how busy she really was, she would tell him but this wasn't the right place or time for him to know about what was making her so busy, she had a plan too, that would be to tell him once he was out of school. She thought it would be important for him to know but not at this very moment. "Oh, trust me I've been really busy." Adeline shrugged happily.
Now here were the real questions that she knew she would be asked by him, she really didn't have problem with these questions because she had been away for a long time. "I'm doing really good, just a little tired." Adeline smiled but her smile faded away when he mentioned Asher. If Asher wasn't at Hogwarts then where was he? Adeline bit her lower lip and looked back at Alec. "So Asher isn't here? He's suppose to be here at Hogwarts. Things are fine between us, I'm still confused on our relationship status but I'm assuming we're still together." The last time she saw Asher she was mad at him but that changed when they talked things over before he had left for Hogwarts so she assumed they are still together. "How have you been? Everything good with you and Ella?"

"Oh." He said sounding as if he'd understood something that had eluded him. "She's one of those." He had used a tone meant to aggravate that fierce protectiveness he'd heard in Caleb's voice. Though, Cutty seriously did not grasp the severity of Slytherin superiority...towards everything! That was probably why Sophie had asking him about his blood status earlier on in the year while they were practicing their charms homework. He'd read about Salazar Slytherin's preoccupation with it and he'd thought it stupid then as well, especially when the lot of more recent success stories -in terms of magical talent- belonged to the half-bloods. Meh. Enough about Sophie. "And, anyway what about you? Are you tell me that you'd never date a Hufflepuff girl if she were the cutest little tottie in our whole year and was all, 'Oh, Caleb, those Hufflepuff boys don't do anything for me. Caleb couldn't help it - that kind of thinking was SORT of installed into his brain too. Cutty caught the wrinkling of Caleb's eyebrows and let it sink in as Caleb being an opportunist and it had quite impressed him more than anyone, save for Benzi Rider, in their year. "Smart man, Newell." He said matter-of-factly at the comment about not letting himself become laywaid by anything in lipgloss or pretty pink ribbons. "And you know what you want. I like that." He said, still finding Caleb to be the smarter of the twins.
"I wouldn't say defensive, no." He began coolly. "I simply don't find discrimination to be useful in my line of work." That. And he very greedy and usually wanted everything!

So Caleb didn't like weakness? Neither did Cutty, or rather he simply found it difficult to respect. He actually liked it very much for it was easy to exploit. Did that mean Caleb viewed Slytherin as the strongest house?
"Good to know." He said unantagonistically now that he knew the boy beyond simply his sisters over-protective shadow. So, he could be civil. And maybe that could be useful.
After paying for his purchases, Cutty handed Caleb a small card of spell-stiffened parchment with the words: Supplementary Sweets. And the boys name on it. "If you're ever in a dire sweets position call on me. I have special deals for Slytherins of promising achievement." Then Cutty Mordaunt headed back to the castle, hoping to get there before Caleb did so he could hide and store the sweets in their dorm.

Cat opened the door and held it open, gesturing to Aidan. "I'd say age before beauty but you're younger than me." So she just beamed instead.

Aidan walked through the door anyway and grabbed a basket for her to carry the quills in. "Just sugar quills?" It seemed kind of silly to him to go all the way to Hogsmeade to get only one type of candy that wasn't even chocolate. Yet, he was happy to accompany the Slytherin any day.
