The Seating Area Outside Professor Flamsteed's Office
Several comfortable looking black leather sofa chairs await you in the small nook outside of Professor Flamsteed's office. Since the Astronomy professor keeps his door shut at all times, you will need to knock if you wish to speak with him. While you wait to be invited in, why not read the latest issue of one of the many astronomy magazines stacked neatly on the wooden coffee table? StarDate Observer or Meteorite Mementos anyone?
OOC: Please post in this thread FIRST, by having your character knock on the door. When the professor is ready to invite you in, I will post here letting you know and then you can post in the office. You may RP with friends here, but please try to keep the chit chat to a minimum. Thank you!

There would be no realizing. Nope.
"YES!" She practically shouted, shoving the jar with the black mass desperately toward him. "Look...Jeffery...he turned black and I don't know why and I don't know how to make him yellow again. I would have tried getting him yellow again on my own but 'cept the star notes said we should come to you if something like this happens so can you fix him????" She wibbled a bit, now meeting his gaze and that's when she noticed the paint...dripping and everything.
Oh?
"Um...did I come at a bad time...?" Not that she particularly cared for his timing at the moment because see, Jeffery, turned black, not being her lovely yellow star anymore. This was kind of a CRISIS here! "And...did you know...you've got paint...like...there..." She said pointing. Did he notice?
And wasn't he going to take the jar??? Her baby could only stay dead for so long!
Volume control! Hello volume control! Miss Cambridge needed to learn where her's was and lower it several notches and then try again. The astronomer was testy enough thanks to the red paint that he was now sporting on his suit that he was tempted to make this Gryffindor suffer the same fate as Mr. Gunter.
"YesIknowaboutthepaint." he grumbled while resisting the urge to cross his arms like a pouty ten-year-old.
Only then he saw the sad state that the star was in and the man's expression instantly softened. "I'm sorry to tell you, Miss Cambridge, but Jeffery is gone. He has cooled enough to no longer emit significant heat or light...and there is nothing I can do to fix this." The man bit down on his lip like a nervous school boy. He wasn't good with these kinds of talks and that had been why he had put a warning label of sorts on his assignment to show LOVE to their stars.
Airey reached over and took the jar from the young lion and held it up towards the window to let the light shine into the jar a little bit to see if there was any glimmer left in this star, but sadly there was not.
"I'm afraid your star is dead and you will need to start the assignment over," he explained while summoning a new jar from inside his office and handing it to her.
So...what did she want to do with this jar and the used up elements? There was no way to reuse them.

So he did know! But...if he knew, then why was he still wearing that suit? From what she had gathered through previous interactions, the man was very particular about what he wore...that being the case, why on earth would he have chosen to keep that suit on. Such a silly man he was sometimes.
Well, if he wasn't bothered by it then she would ignore it too, 'specially now that he was finally taking notice of poor Jeffery. Her face fell and she wibbled even more when he said that he couldn't make her star better. "But...he's my little star...that's not fair..." She eyed the jar that was now in the Professor's hand. When he held it up to the light she looked on curiously, wondering if the light would revive the star but not even that worked. This caused her mood to sink even further so hearing that she had to start over did NOT go very well.
"Whaaaaaaat?" She whined, not because she didn't want to do the work again but because it meant she would be losing Jeffery forever. Wasn't there another way??? Why did the good stars have to die yooooooung???
She extended her hands, gesturing that she wanted Jeffery back and took the new jar as well. "Um...Professor...could I keep him like this...or will he, you know, disappear...?" She never thought losing him would have been this bad.

Very few things could distract Airey from a crinkle in a suit and it took something even more 'special' to distract him from the amount of stains that were on his suit now - nothing that those muggle cleaners couldn't fix he was sure - but death was one of them. Even if it was just a school project.
"I know, Miss Cambridge, I know," he said while awkwardly patting her on the back. Yeah...he wasn't good at this sort of thing. "Life isn't fair and when living things are left neglected for too long you must expect consequences." He frowned a bit and furrowed his brow slightly in thought. "As cold as it may sound, the only thing you can do is learn from this experience and make sure not to make the same one again."
Because then there might also be other consequences.
Airey looked back at the jar and then towards the young Gryffindor. There was an awful lot he could say about what happens when a star 'dies,' but talking about black holes and whatnot probably wasn't the best idea. "No, he won't disappear and you are welcome to keep him if you want." You know, if it provided her some sort of comfort or whatever. He wouldn't take that away from her.
Although keeping a dead star was rather morbid.

Lex sighed, slumping her shoulders and staring down at the jar. She remembered when she first made him. The spell she cast, she got it right the first time, something that didn't usually happen. Obviously Jeffery was her lucky star or something and she would probably never get that spell right again now that he was gone.
Her eyes rested on him again when he began patting her back. It seemed like no one at this school knew how to properly console her. SIGH. "Do you think he's in a better place though...you know, with all the other stars that had forgetful owners?" She wasn't going to pretend that she was the only one in the entire world who'd ever forgotten a star. Nope. 'Specially not when misery loved company.
"I don't think I'd make it happen again Professor..." She muttered, rubbing her thumb against the surface of the jar. She'd learned her lesson. Stars needed a lot of love and affection and that's what she would have to give the new one.
A small smile played on her lips. "He won't? So he'll stay in my dorm just fine and I can take him home at the end of the year?" When she thought about Jeremy would have loved to see something like this.
He was interested in anything that remotely had anything to do with wizards.

Now...that was an awkward question to ask an astronomer and Airey was realizing more and more that he was not good at this comfort thing at all. Probably because no one had ever comforted him as a student - unless one counted all the shouting an detention giving as comfort. "I am sure wherever he is it is a good place," he nodded. Erm, yes, sure.
He could stop fidgeting with his hands at any time now. Nervous twitch of his.
"See to it that it doesn't," he nodded with a faint smile. Powdered elements didn't come cheap you know. That, and he reeeeeeeeally didn't want to have to try and console a student again. "And I know you will, Miss Cambridge. You have a lot of determination. Just need to have your energy focused a bit as we have seen with...." Crud, what was the name of her star? Jared? "....Jeremy." That sounded right.
"You may wish to do something else with him by the time my next lesson comes around," the astronomer said with a mysterious wink. "I'm going to ask all students to bring their stars with them." The reason? Well, she would just have to wait and find out.
"Would you like me to go with you back to the laboratory and observe your second attempt?" She had seemed a little nervous about the whole spell casting and taking care aspect of things after this little incident.

Okay so that made her feel a little better. Wherever he was he was with friends and they would be happy and they would float around together telling each other jokes, reading each other bedtime stories and getting each other warm milk and cookies when the sky got extra dark and they were feeling too scared to make much light. Stars were so friendly. It was such a shame that even they could die.
She sniffled a bit more but decided she wouldn't cry. No. She would be strong for Jeffery even if he wasn't around to see it.
"I guess you're right..." She agreed with a sigh, "Maybe I should have had a--" Her eyes shot up to the Professor immediately and they were VERY wide as they did so. Jeremy?
O____O
Blink. Blink. Blink.
SERIOUSLY?! Stab her in the heart while you're at it, why don't ya! "HisNameWasJeffery." She squeaked, unable to believe the Professor had forgotten that in such a short period of time. This was so typical of people, once someone died they were quickly forgotten. Take her mother for instance, she didn't hear her father talking about her these days and now the Professor was already forgetting about her baby star. He only just died! Merlin!
She managed to composed herself enough once he mentioned his next lesson. "Oh? But...can I do anything with him being...well...dead?" If so then why was she starting over? And at his offered she smiled a bit. "And I'd really like if you did." Her lucky star was gone but the Professor would be there so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe.

Oh sweet solstice please don't cry. That could only make this situation even more uncomfortable for him to deal with. Probably the only thing really because thing's couldn't get that much worse.
...............
Or so he thought.
"Jeffery! Jeeeeeffery!" Airey said with a slight flail as he patted the lid on the dead star's bottle. "Jeffeeeeeery." See, he could say the name and know it and. Oh holy comets had he been wrong about her crying being the only thing to make this worse. Way to go Professor Airhead. "He is STILL Jeffery," Airey corrected gently in hopes that it would somewhat distracted her from his slip up.
Probably not. Miss Cambridge was rather astute when she wanted to be.
"I think you can. Everything in the universe has a purpose and a place. Even those bits that have died." And he was talking from a scientific standpoint, obviously. "Well, let's head to the laboratory then."
That was her cue to lead the way.

After a few minutes of waiting, the door to Professor Airey's Office opened, but the man did not appear. He heard the man's voice, nonetheless. Dylan beamed.
After all, Professor Flamsteed had left quite an impression with his awesome suits and optimism..."Thanks, Professor."

He went up to the door and knocked on it loudly. Yes LOUDLY!

Well someone certainly had their wand in a knot!
Airey checked his sundial and smirked to himself as it gave him a good indication as to who was currently waiting outside his office door. He rose from his seat and adjusted his tie as he opened up the door. "Ah, Mr. Gunter, I was expecting you," he said while eyeing the door for damages. From the sound it almost seemed like the mute badger had kicked it. "Step into my office and we will get you fixed right up."

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
There was an actual scowl on the Slytherin's Prefect face as he forced his feet to walk up the many stairs to the Astronomy tower. Slytherin had just lost their first match resulting in him losing a bet with Professor Flamsteed.
Reaching the sitting area, Daichi huffed loudly as he thought of not winning that amazing duck tie and he sighed even louder when he thought of the other part of the bet. Painting those weird toys if Slytherin lost.
Well Snakes, good job!
But it also made him more determined to try harder at the next practises so that he could play a match as well. Maybe he wasn't as good anymore during his first and second year when Slytherin won the cup two times in a row but he was willing to work hard! A smile appeared on his face but it faltered again when he looked at the door. Right...painting toys...stupid bet! He should have never accepted it! He hated losing which may seem strange to others because of his rather cheerful personality but it was true, this Snake hated to lose.
He knocked on the door three times slowly and the last fourth one was from his forehead banging the door with a dull thud and he simply stood there. Awaiting his not-getting-the-duck-tie-but-paint-stupid-toys-without-getting-points-for-it doom

UGH!
Airey was quite literally on cloud 9 in his office thanks to a special delivery of new mecha figurines. No, seriously, the man had conjured himself a cloud to sit on and float around his office with. He had even put a little #9 label on it in hopes that doing so would help unravel the mystery behind the muggle expression, but it wasn't working out so well just yet.
Hearing a knock at the door - or was that a knock? It sounded less than enthusiastic - Airey maneuvered himself and his cloud towards the door and with a flick of his wand opened it. "Ah, Mr. Katharos, I've been expecting you!" he called down from his cloud several feet above the boy's head.
OOC: you can go ahead and post in the office Lindz

Staring at the Astronomy Professor's door in deep concentration, wand in hand, Medea tilted her head to the side a little, just observing from the looks of it. Mmhmm, she'd done what was asked of her already, but there were a few last minute touches that needed to happen. Needed to. After a moment of biting her lip from thought, she pointed the wand at the doorknob, before the door in general, muttering in a foreign language under her breath.
Taking a step back, Medea took a deep breath and sighed as she smiled, briefly glancing towards the man watching over her work. "Should be good to go now." Indeed, everything should've been...perfect...now.

Airey had been standing back a bit while the master of defensive spells did...whatever it was she was going to do to his office. There was NO way that he was going to lose another one of his precious babies.
He just wished that whatever it was she had done had been in some sort of language that resembled English. "Thanks, Medea," he said with a grin as he took several steps forward. "Sorry to bother you with something like this...but with all these office break in and the discussion about added security, you know." And his precious baby being stolen.
Slowly, he reached for the doorknob.... "WHAT THE----MEDEA! What did you do?!"

"It's no problem at all, Airey. Any time." Medea shook her head, waving off the apology before crossing her arms. The defense professor really did want to help make sure there were less break-ins after all, and this was just an added oppurtunity to get back for those spicy cupcakes. Very sneaky it was of him. Though it was a fifty-fifty bet on who'd send them. Airey or Sophia, though the charms professor didn't quite seem like the baking type.
Oh, dear, would you look at that? His hand was stuck. "Me? Vot did I do?" Medea, with the dramatic emphasis on the innocent act, took a step to the side to 'try and see what the problem was'.

Oh suuuuuuuuuuure she was sincere in that answer. No problem at all. NO PROBLEM FOR YOU YOU MEAN!
Airey did his best to glare at the woman while he tried to remove his right hand from the doorknob, but to no avail. Truth was that he was mildly impressed by this move. A prank. RIGHT in front of him and he hadn't suspected a thing. It was genius really and he had invited himself to be in this position. Oh yes, very good Medea. VERY good.
He should have made those cakes even more spicy...perhaps with a little something extra.
Rolling his eyes at her next comment, he removed his wand with his other hand and attempted to remove the charm on his door when his wand SHOT out of his hand and across the seating area and rolled across the floor and under one of the seats.
"..........don't you DARE come at me with jars of paint next."

Medea was a bit surprised he even attempted to try and remove the charm, considering she was currently standing right there and all. A simple disarming charm shot his way, causing his wand to shoot out of his hand and roll under one of the seats, and eyebrows raised at his suggestion. Good Merlin...
That would've been a nice touch, wouldn't it?
"I honestly haffn't thought this far ahead." she confessed, sitting down on the seat that hid the wand. Making herself comfortable, she smiled and sighed, staring at the trapped Astronomy professor. "Though to make this less painful for you, vot other suggestions do you haff or vould prefer?"
Coming up with his own doom was even a nicer touch, didn't he think so?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!
Ug, of course. Medea was just going to sit there acting all cute and innocent while he was stuck to his door like a fly to fly paper. Okay, so planking in her lesson the beginning of the term had been sort of a bother...and those spicy cakes he had left outside her office door on Valentine's Day had certainly warranted some sort of pay back...but this?! WHAT IF HIS ---
.............
THE KISS OF DEATH!
Airey literally looked like someone who had had their soul sucked out by a dementor as he turned slight and now found that his SUIT was STUCK to the door. IF HE MOVED WAS IT GOING TO MAKE THE FABRIC RIP?! DIDN'T SHE READ HIS RULES ABOUT TOUCHING THE SUIT?!
"Here's an idea...you unstick me and actually do the job I asked you on my office. THAT is what I would prefer!"
Hopefully no students showed up and saw him in this state. Talk about awkward.

Mmhmmm...
Her foot tapped against the air as she quietly chuckled and shook her head. "I've already done the job you've asked of me." He didn't think the how many minutes of spell work was just for the sticking charm, did he? "But, if you haff no other suggestions," Medea chose to ignore the request to unstick him. "I guess I'm not needed here...anymore."
Standing up, she straightened out her clothes, and took a step towards him, perhaps a good arms length away and gaze set in mock concern. "Do you need anything though? Vater? Something to eat?" Some extra spicy cupcakes maybe?

Airey narrowed his eyes and slooooooooowly tried to pull himself away from his door, but to no avail. The fine 1000 something thread count material was stuck to the door and he was NOT going to rip it. If only his hand were not stuck to the door knob. If he had his hand free he could just remove himself from his suit jacket and be free. "Oh I think you have done more than what I asked of you," he retorted with a slight man!wibble.
MEDEASAYWHAT?!
She could stop being so infuriatingly pretend cute and innocent any time now. Seriously. It was not attractive. Okay, so that was an obvious lie, but not the point. The point WAS that he was stuck to his door and his suit was in danger!
"Actually, there IS something you could get me now that you mention it," the sticky suited man replied while batting his eyelashes. "If you could fetch me my wand....that's all I ask of you," he continued while the latter end of his sentence turned into his own rendition of the tune from the Phantom of the Opera.

Oh, yes, wasn't he simply thrilled by her overachieving work? He didn't even need to ask. Although, she was a bit taken aback with the lovely tune that he voiced. He had a very nice voice, indeed. Truth be told, it may have swayed her to at least summon the wand from under the seat despite her previous intentions of just leaving. "I suppose I could." she mused, pointing her wand towards the seat in an almost careless manner for a moment before summoning the wand to herself.
Well...
No, she wasn't about to outright give him the one tool that would release him.
Placing it down on the floor right in his line of view, perhaps just far enough away where he'd have to really stretch with his leg for it, Medea noticed a short white hair on her sleeve just as she was standing up. Oh, one of Erma's? Carefully peeling it off, she glanced up to Airey before opening her hand and blowing the white fur in his direction like blowing a kiss. "Have fuuuun." Because she certainly had.

Really now? REALLY?! Not even his perfect rendition of that ballad got her to give him back his wand? Cold as ice you are, Medea. Unless those rumors WERE true and she was in fact a vampire. Which reminded him of a few muggle books he had tried to read. He may not have passed Care of Magical Creatures as a student, but this one particular series had lost him the moment sparkle and vampire were in the same sentence.
But he was getting himself distracted again. As usual.
Sticking his tongue out of the corner of his mouth while he reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeached with his right foot towards his wand, but found it to still be JUST out of his reach. The astronomer began to grumble to himself about how he had ever gotten into this mess and LKASJLSJLJSLJDSLJDSIJVLJ
HAIR! FUR! HAIRFUR! CAT! CAT FUR! MEDEA HAD JUST THROWN CAT FUR AT HIM! HE WAS GOING TO DIIIIIIIIIIE!
Worst part about it all was that he was totally and completely defenseless against the attack as the single strand of fur attached itself to his suit. NOOOOOOOOOOO! He was trapped outside of his office and without a lint roller!
"FUN?! Medea...nothing about this is fun!" he grumbled while flailing some more and sticking more of his suit against the door. "MY SUUUUUUUUUUUIT!"

Elise was actually going to check on her star again after spending about an hour staring at the Muggle Studies textbook and absorbing practically nothing. Professor Cerulean MAY be her Head of House, but that didn't mean that the Ravenclaw had to like her... or the subject she taught. Not to mention the fact that whatever it was that she DID teach had nothing to do with Elise's future suvival in the Muggle world.
She would be totally useless and lost somewhere in the streets of Muggle London and have no idea how to use a fellytone or whatever it was called to get help. And she had NO idea what a TV was or if it was some sort of food. Nope. NADA. ZILCH. Nothing of use she had learnt in that class.
But then she heard really loud wailing that almost sounded like a really little girl crying. Maybe a four-year-old? IT WAS PROFESSOR FLAMSTEED. Obviously, because nobody would scream about suit unless it was him... attacked with a cat.
Cats. Because Elise liked cats. Especially since her best friend's name sounded like one. Kitty Kat. Though she'd probably hex her if she'd heard that Elise had called her that.
"Professor?" she gasped as she saw what the problem was. The poor man was stuck to the door and he didn't appear to be able to move. Elise would applaud whoever did this if she wasn't so close to busting out laughing. It was really funny... oh. How long'd he been here?
Pulling out her wand and trying to find a suitable place to point it at, Elise kept her face straight. FOCUS. "Deligare," she muttered before stuffing her wand back into its holster. It should work. It'd worked every other time, but Elise wasn't trying not to laugh hysterically those other times so it'd better work.
"Who did this?" So Elise could go and congratulate them in person and give them the applause they deserved. Mmhmm. Professor Flamsteed didn't have to know WHY she asked. And if he did, she could just say that she was going to... take revenge? Something like that. Yeah.

Reach...reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaach!
Airey was not the most flexible of people since his back injury, but he figured that his height should be useful at a time like this...only it wasn't. The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor had left his wand just out of reach of his well dressed toe. He was stuck. Stuck stuck stuck... he suit was probably ruined AGAIN by the woman and he would have to take it to that magical land called the muggle dry cleaners - not that he was complaining because he rather fancied the place. At least there was no paint involved this time.
BUT HIS SUIT!
SWEET SOLSTICE! PEBBLES! She was trapped inside his office! Who would take her for her afternoon walks now?! FEED HER?!
But then he heard a small voice and he turned his head a little too fast and ended up getting his cheek stuck to the door as well. "Miss Feefeeld," he said with his face smashed against the mahogany. Just as he was going to ask her to hand him his wand, the Ravenclaw released him from his sticky prison. "Thank you, Miss Fairfield. 5 points for freeing me and saving my suit," he said in a slightly exasperated tone as he bent down to pick up his wand.
FINALLY! FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!
That was a good one Medea...a very good one...he needed to get her back...
"Professor Romanos and I just have a little pranking war going on," he explained, trying to play it off like it was no big deal. ONLY IT TOTALLY WAS!!

Elise was almost worried, but it didn't seem like anything was injured except the suit... until he went and got his face stuck. Releasing a really tiny giggle, she realized what she was doing. One did not simply laugh at a professor, no matter if he did have half his face smushed into a door at such an awkward angle. So she settled for disguising her tiny lapse in judgement with a fake cough.
OH AND FIVE POINTS? Ravenclaw needed all the points they could get, really. That was why Elise was really busy doing all sorts of extra-curricular stuff like the Herbology Task Force and putting loads of energy into it. Because they needed house points. "Thanks, Professoooor!" she beamed. Yay house points and YAY for nice professors who didn't teach stuff that was of no use... like superheroes.
A pranking war? So THAT was why he was lying on the floor during that lesson. A prank, really? Well... "She's good," Elise nodded. She'd have to be, being the Defense professor and whatnot. But STILL. Elise would have to drop by her office and congratulate her on ONE amazing prank.
See, having so many Slytherin and Gryffindor friends did have a tendency to help one to appreciate a good prank.
"Would you like help with anything else, though?" she asked, just in case. She could always stay back and feed pebbles or something like that.
