A set of paths link the courtyard to various areas of the grounds. It's nice to walk along either on your own or with a friend. The trees on either side of the path help to create a light atmosphere. So go on, take your time and soak up the fresh air, heaven knows students need it.

Sutton thought about it for a moment. Honestly, she wasn't sure if Isaac had the right to know anything about her life anymore. He couldn't even stand to be decent toward her when she'd been concerned about him after the Quidditch game. He hadn't talked to her, hadn't even given Sutton any chance to apologize. She knew she had made a mistake, but friends didn't act like this. Though it was probably Amelia making him stay away from her. Sutton couldn't blame the girl, honestly, even if she wanted so very badly to be able to. Finally, she let out a breathe and shook her head. "No, don't tell him. If he finds out, he finds out. He probably wouldn't care either way anyway," she said sadly. Isaac didn't care about her anymore, so why would he care about this?
Hearing an odd rustling in the trees along the path, Sutton's head whipped around to look into wooded area. What was that? It wasn't like a scampering... It was more like a slither or like something being dragged. Then she saw a vine moving of its own accord, snaking its way between the trees. "Ed! Do you see that?" she asked, leaving his side and walking off the path, toward the moving vine...

"Okay." Ed wasn't going to go against her wishes, but he had a feeling that Isaac would care more than she thought. It wasn't sitting well with him, but he couldn't help but admit the truth to himself. He turned on his heel at Sutton's curiosity and narrowed his eyes at the vine moving through the trees. He realised Sutton had left his side though and if this was the plant that he and Isaac had attempted to protect the owls from, then he didn't want her getting too close. Ed reached out to grab her arm. "Sut, don't get too close."

He looked over to Minerva as she tried to recount the things they had been doing. Yes.. water.. he was spraying her with water for some reason.. He already knew that much, but why would he do something like that? "I think.. I was trying to put a fire," he said, giving her a confused look again, as what seemed like a distant memory tried to rise to the surface. "Was there a fire?" he asked, not really sure if his memory was real at this point.
He stared at a point on the ground for a moment, trying to remember something.. anything.. when her words made him look up. A bird? Chicken was the first thing that came to his mind.. but he wasn't sure that was what she had meant. OH! "The Fwooper.." he said with dawning realization. He vaguely remembered being in class.. though that seemed so long ago. Was that what was causing their confusion and inability to remember anything? His eyes widened slightly as he saw her features cloud with concern. What were they doing? He wasn't sure he wanted to know.. He gave a cursory glance to the area then turned back to Minerva. It didn't look like there were many witnesses, if any. "Maybe it's a good thing we can't remember," he said with a chuckle.
Ethan had started to rise to his feet from where he was sitting on the ground when a movement caught his eye. Turning his head in that direction, he watched the base of tree as something green crept around it. His eyes grew wide and he quickly got to a standing position upon realization of just what that greenery was.
"Minnie!" he started as he quickly reached a hand towards her to help her up. "We need to get out of here.." Or something.. because the last thing he wanted was for one of them to end up as plant food. Thankfully the boy still had his wand in his other hand and he tightened his grip.
Minerva was looking at Ethan and took his hand. That was sweet of him to help her up, but then her smile turned quickly as he said they need to get out of there. Why on earth the rush she wondered as she followed his gave. She froze.. It was that vine, that same vine that went around her leg, that took Millie, that took the professor. She just froze looking at it, she wanted to just chop it up. "Think it would like to lose a vine? Maybe we could cut the vine then Professor Bentley could figure it out?" She looked at him to see his thoughts.
Her gaze was only for a second when she saw students looking at the plant and then Sutton moving towards it. "Sutton.. No get away from it.. That thing is dangerous, everyone stay away from it." She walked away from Ethan towards the plant and grabbed Sutton's arm. "Sutton come back this way. Guys get away from it, we need to get a professor here before it leaves." She looked at the students that gathered.
Sutton was just about to reach out and touch the plant when Ed grabbed her arm. She turned her head over her shoulder to tell him off, but before she could, Minnie was there grabbing her other arm. What were they going to drag her away now? Sutton shook off their hands and listened as they both warned her against how dangerous the plant was. Seriously? It was a plant. How dangerous could it be?
Her eyes turned toward Minnie as she said they needed to go get a professor before it left. "Well, if we want it to stay here, then we have to give it a reason to stay," she said quietly... before she jumped through the trees to the other side of the vine from where everyone else was. "Go get a professor! I'm the smallest, and I'm fast. I'll keep it's attention until you get back," she instructed as she pulled out her wand, ready to defend herself is she needed to.

Ed frowned at Sutton shaking both him and Minnie off. He watched her with narrowed eyes until she jumped through the trees. WAS SHE OUT OF HER MIND?! Without a second thought, Ed followed her and instantly jumped in front of her. He snarled at her over his shoulder. "Get back through there and to safety, you idiot." Hadn't she HEARD what this thing had done?! If she didn't move, he was just going to pick her up and take her back to safety himself. Hopefully she'd go through and Minnie would grab her and pull her away. At least one of them had a brain.

Damon winced slightly at the more firm hug but still returned it. He sighed when she said it wasn't his fault, "Technically it is... I went home one weekend when I shouldn't have... Had I not been, Mom and I wouldn't have gone on the walk we had and Anton's men wouldn't just go after her and Dad... She jumped in front of a killing curse to save me." He looked down but gave a soft smile, to what he said, "It's me who's lucky to have her... She honestly acts different when she's not around others."
Belle knew Damon should not but the blame on himself. It was not his fault and his dad should know it. His mother put her love and sacrifice to her only son. Belle understood that. Belle softly smiled back to Damon. When he said he is lucky to have Ari, Belle responded, "Yeah some people can bring out the better in people, well in your case Ari can."
As Belle was looking around and admiring the beautiful spring day. "So what are your plans for the summer after term ends? Doing anything fun?"
Sketch book in hand Nell was heading out to the lake for a relaxation session. She was supposed to meet Ed later for a little date but for now it was good for some alone time. Walking steadily she came out onto the pathways and had to do a double take. There were several people standing around but all the red head could see was her boyfriend holding on to another girl. Not just any girl though...Sutton.
"Ed! What in the blazes is going on here?!"
Completely oblivious as to the danger behind her....

"Sutton STOP" Minerva got a bit closer trying to bring Sutton back. "This plant had my leg once, it took a wombat right in front of me, and has taken a professor faster the we could blink an eye. It is not safe to be near it, get back over here. I will use a spell if I have to keep you safe. No professor is going to punish if it's to maybe save your life."
Minerva looked back at Ed, Ethan, and anyone else. "We need to get her out of here. I am not watching anyone else taken by this thing. We are way to close." She turned back to Sutton. Pulling out her wand to make sure she was ready for anything. "Sutton what's it going to be. You coming to safety on your own or do I need to bring you out forcefully?"
Ethan wrapped his fingers tightly around Minnie's as she got to her feet, his eyes locked on to hers as she froze staring at that plant. "I'd think that was a good idea," he began in response to her comment about cutting off a slice. "Except after seeing it take Burbage away, I'm afraid that would anger it.." And he didn't want to think about it coming after her. "I just think we should get away from it and find Bentley.. or the Headmistress." Because he heard that she knew a thing or two about plants too.
And the n his head turned as Minerva was speaking to someone else.. Sutton, was it? What was that girl doing? Ethan's eyes widened in horror as the girl made her way towards the plant, to be bait herself or something. He was about to call to her when that older Puff, Ed, beat him to it.. Thankfully that boy had some sense about him.
As Minnie tried to talk some sense into her friend, another voice made him turn.. this one he sort of knew.. "Nell," he called softly over to the girl, who was visibly angry, so as not to startle the plant with any loud noises. "We need to get inside.. we all do," he added, with a significant glance to the reckless Puff girl. He still had his wand elevated in his grip, but he wasn't chancing angering that plant and making anyone its next meal - not when that girl was so close.

Sutton looked around all of these idiots threatening to hex her. Had she not proved she was the best in their class at shield charms in Charms class earlier this year? Probably even better than some of the older kids. For some reason, it was one of those things she just did really well. She considered her options carefully... and then she got just distraction she needed. Nell showed up.
While Ed was distracted by his girlfriend, Sutton cast several shield charms over herself so neither their spells nor them could get to her, and she ran further into the trees along the vine. "Go get a professor!" she yelled, pointing her wand right at the vine... and shooting a stinging hex at it.

Oh gosh. He knew that voice. Turning slightly, Ed saw Nell way too close to this thing for comfort and yelped at her. "Behind you, Nell!" Seriously, what was it with girls and getting into situations?! Especially girls who meant a lot to him! UGH. He glanced at Minnie who'd explained about a professor being taken and swallowed. Okay, so this thing ate people. At least if anyone was taken this time, it was likely to be him. He didn't want his girlfriend or sister to be taken.
He moved back toward Sutton and found that something was preventing him from actually getting close to her. Ed turned to see her, but ran his hand through his hair frustratedly as she ran off again. "SUTTON ROSE JOSEPHINE PIATEK, YOU GET BACK HERE NOW." Yep, she'd got the FULL name treatment. Instinctively, he chased her and pulled out his own wand to protect her stupid hide. Nell could handle herself, and Ed had no doubts about it, Sutton on the other hand was still young and new to magic.

Anger was all she could feel. This was the second time she had caught Sutton and Ed together and she was getting tired of it. He had explained their relationship but the fact that Sutton had kissed Isaac while he was still dating Amelia didn't set well with her. The girl was menace to couples.
Ed's shouted warning froze her in place. Turning slowly she looked behind her and saw an enormous plant, apparently the one who had been eating everything and everyone! Fear shot through her and she backed up a step. Sutton apparently trying to offer herself up as bait and Edmund was chasing after her.
Yanking out her wand she cast a shield charm around herself. "ED! COME BACK!" Why was it her boyfriend was always chasing after that dunderheaded girl!
Belle knew Damon should not but the blame on himself. It was not his fault and his dad should know it. His mother put her love and sacrifice to her only son. Belle understood that. As Belle was looking around and admiring the beautiful spring day. "So what are your plans for the summer after term ends? Doing anything fun?"
Damon smiled, "They really can." He sighed and shook his head, "Nothing big though... Go visit a few more colleges, hopefully make my decision on whether I want to stay close to here so I can be close whenever I'm needed or if I should keep my dream of going home to France..." He looked at her, "Besides that, traveling a lot, we always do."
Clara was very glad that it was warm out again and her owner let her go outside. As a result, the cat took off and ran ahead, enjoying the sunshine. Taryn didn't mind, Clara was always wandering the castle anyway, and so long as she could still see her it was fine.
She'd merrily pranced about in the grass until she spotted a girl sitting beside a tree and then IMMEDIATELY ran up to her, purring loudly. Taryn followed a few seconds later. "Sorry about that." She leaned over to pick up the cat who was still purring and hoping that the new girl would pet her.
MEEEP! MEEP!
Puffles bounced on his owners shoulder and began hiding behind her hair in fright when he saw a cat aproaching them. He hated those things and was highly terrified of them, but surely this cat could not touch him here. His owner would keep him safe, right? She better!
The now shaking indigo ball of fluff tugged closer to his owner and with frightened eyes watched the cat and now girl standing by.
It wasn't until Puffles hid behind her hair, that Nessie realised a cat was approaching. She knew he only did that when things scared him and as she looked up she wasn't surprised to see that it was a cat again after all. She didn't even understand why her little fellah found them so frightening. Okay maybe once, one almost ate him but not all of them were like that. This cat seemed real friendly in fact.
The red head put her diary aside for a short moment and leaned her hand forward to pat the cat as a girl approached shortly after, apologizing." It's really alright, your cat doesn't seem like any harm." Nope, Puffles was just being a drama queen king. "Nessie." She said now getting up and extending her hand for a shake to greet the girl.
Belle realized she needed to look at colleges. She had to realization. "Yeah i am in the same boat as you are as a matter of fact. I am actually doing the summer internship for diagon alley. I hope i get it. I would love to work with the animals." Belle was excited for this summer because she could take action with her future.
Then Belle gave Ethan advice, "Well Ethan it depends, are you happier here at hogwarts with your girlfriend? Or do you want to go back to your hometown and start new? I think as a friend speaking, you should follow your dream. You might regret it sooner or later."

Damon nodded, "I signed up for that as well, I'm not really sure where I'm wanting to get. And getting into college isn't my problem. I've gotten into three already, I'm just not sure. Two of them are in France the other is here in England, about ten minutes away from the train station."
"Well, that's my problem, I'll miss everyone. Considering all my friends, except you, are younger than me." Damon sighed, "And I can always go to France after college, or transfer when Ari graduates." He sighed, trying to think about it.
Right, well... that was anti-climactic. Just like that, the plant's long vines had been withdrawn from the trees near the pathways. Turning back to look at everyone, she put her hands on her hips and frowned at the crowd that had gathered. "See! You should have just gone and got a professor! It felt threatened and went away, and now someone will have to find it again." Sutton flipped her hair over her shoulder as she walked past Ed and eyed Nell warily. The girl did not seem impressed. Feeling suddenly uncomfortable that Nell was there, her eyes flickered to Ed and then to Minnie. "I... am going to go find Logan... I'll see you guys around, I guess..." she said sadly before she took back off down the path, her hands stuffed in her pockets.
Sutton was starting to think that no one was ever going to respect her again...

Belle nodded and was happy for Damon, "Aww good for you! Well for me i picked the owl post because i love creatures." It was true. Belle loved animals. She loved her dog back at home. She would be gentle and learn all she can. As Damon mentioned college, Belle understood his viewpoint. "I understand and i am proud you got into three colleges. Congrats bud!" Belle hugged him. Now onto more pressing matters.
"I know you will miss your friends, but you gotta do what is best for your sake. Your friends will always be there for you through whatever. You can always go to France after college. You will always be led back to your hometown. But i am sure Ari will understand your choices and stick with you." Belle told him honestly.
Things were over almost as quickly as they had begun. The plant that had been looming so menacingly was...well, gone. After a few moments Nell picked herself up off the ground with a slightly bruised tailbone, a majorly bruised pride, and an anger she didn't know she could muster. Sadness was swirled into that emotional morass but she was currently too bewildered to notice. Her temper jumped to the fore though as a certain female Hufflepuff scolded them all for frightening a PLANT of all things.
Rounding on the third year Nell let her temper fly. "What in the world do you have to be angry about?! Your the one throwing yourself selfishly into danger! Did it ever occur to you that you might get someone ELSE hurt? That the guy who is now calling himself your brother might be killed because of your stupidity?! That other lives besides your own might be shattered because of some half shot heroics you might attempt?!"
The thought of loosing Ed made her dizzy. Just thinking of him made her eyes jump to his face of there own accord. Sadness and hurt engulfed her, choked her. Nell had never been one to cry but here in this moment tears started to fall hard and fast. A heart wrenching sob burst from her throat that she tried to cover with her hand. Her eyes finally released Edmund to look around at the audience she now had to her meltdown.
Embarrased and overwhelmed she did the only thing that she could under the circumstances. Her flight instinct kicked in.....and she ran.

He heard the call from Nell, but had to ignore her to make sure Sutton was safe. Thankfully, the plant had enough sense to retract its nasty tendrils and leave them alone. Breathing a sigh of relief because now Nell and Sutton were safe, he put his wand away and crossed his arms at Sutton's reaction. "You're welcome." It wasn't like he'd just offered himself up instead of her.
He shook his head at her walking off, but turned to Nell as she blew up at Sutton. His eyes were wide as she yelled about him nearly dying and looked at him. Bewildered by this outburst, he wasn't sure if he should hug her or comfort Sutton. And then Nell ran away taking her emotional meltdown and any kind of explanation with her. Ed gaped after her for a moment, but then looked back at Sutton. "I'll find you later, I swear." he promised, but then bolted after Nell to make sure she was okay. and hold her, he was definitely going to do that. He had never seen her that angry or emotional before. Ever.

Sutton stopped a bit of a distance away when she heard Nell shouting at her, and she turned around to face her accuser. So, it was okay for someone strong and talented and good to sacrifice himself but not someone pathetic and useless like her? Right well that made a lot of sense. The pain that showed in her eyes, though, had been there before she ever looked around to look at Nell. Even as the girl ran away crying, Sutton didn't speak a word. Obviously, Ed needed to go after her. As he said he'd find her later, the tears finally came to her eyes, but she swallowed them down. "Don't bother, Ed. I think everyone's lives would be better if they stopped finding me..."
And with that she left and didn't look back for anyone or anything, seeking the solitude that only her curtained bed in the dormitory would provide.

"I know you will miss your friends, but you gotta do what is best for your sake. Your friends will always be there for you through whatever. You can always go to France after college. You will always be led back to your hometown. But i am sure Ari will understand your choices and stick with you." Belle told him honestly.
Damon smiled, "I honestly don't remember which I'd said I perfered." Shrug, he didn't always have the best memory, "Thank you though." He hugged her back, "Well, I'm not worried that Ari wouldn't stick with me. It's actually the opposite of what I want." Much as he hated to admit that not being with her again sounded like a living nightmare.
"If I'd be in France, I don't want her here with no one that she can really go to who can console her or be there for her like I can and do. It's not what I want to do. But I don't want her to feel like she's alone just because I'm about a thousand miles away studying and not enough time to be here for her like she needs someone to be." Damon sighed, "She deserves more than that." That was probably the one crappy thing about dating someone younger than himself. He couldn't be there like she needed and he'd just feel guilty for it, even when they did get a chance to spend time together.
